Hotel is literally next door to the XXX part of the city but there’s never any trouble, we were on the 5th floor and couldn’t hear any noise at all. Great location for the train station with connections straight to the airport. Short walk to the quieter prettier parts of the city. Hotel was itself very nice, staff all friendly and helpful.
All was excellent
This hotel is in the perfect spot to explore Amsterdam! It’s directly across from Central Station!
This was my second time staying at NH Barbizon and it was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was a great start to our days and the bar was a quaint, quiet spot to snack and have a drink after long days of travel, museums, or site seeing. The staff is always helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel is conveniently located to transportation, shopping, and countless dining options.
Amazing location Easy walking in all directions!
Housekeeper was unbelievable as was the breakfast!
Every thing is Well and Good
Five star
Stay was great, close to food options and central station. Walkable distances everywhere.
Great hotel!
The room was well equipped and very comfortable. I was impressed by how much was offered free of charge in the room - snacks, drinks, etc. It was a very refreshing stay and I would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic location
The hotel is expensive, however for your money you get fantastic staff, a great central location, loads of amenities and a modern, clean room.
great location, clean, helpful staff
Very clean, great staff and perfect location
They upgraded me to a Room with a view of the very loud street. Bar downstairs on the street was loud until at least 2am. Then the cleaners started at 4am. Hardly got any sleep.
They tried to charge me again when checking in !!!
Great place to stay close to central station
Only one complaint: we booked a junior suite and used the sofa bed. The mattress on the bed was not made, and there was no extra bedding in the room. Also, the floor underneath the sofa was quite dirty. One the positive side, we received excellent assistance from two concierges, Jack and Marc.
Stairs Can Be A Scare
I will start by saying the employees and service was excellent. The hotel inside was very nice and inviting. It is in a busy part of town near China Town and the central train station. My friend and I requested a canal view room and accepted a single bed instead of two. Upon entering the room and looking out the window, we only saw another building. We immediately requested another room that they seemed a little hesitant to put us in. It did not take long after settling in to understand that seeing the canal from our room was over rated. It was so noisy from people at the outdoor Cafe, on the sidewalk, and boats blaring their music that I didn't think I would be able to sleep. Thankfully that wasn't a problem for me. Beware if you are a light sleeper, though. Opt to take a room on a higher floor. The canal rooms also have indoor stairs. You need to be very careful as the black carpet is the same color as the floor and there is no light to illuminate them at night. Being older, my friend and I were very careful so we didn't miss the last two steps where there was no railing. Unfortunately we think a woman in the room above us fell and hurt herself as she was screaming probably in pain after we heard a loud thump. Overall, once you are in the hotel, a very nice stay.
One night stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Quick check in. Area around hotel is very busy and somewhat noisy.
Great location to train station and old town sites. The only downside was the awful smell in first floor hallway that seeped into our room. Some sort of mega "air freshener" trying to cover some other smell just absolutely reeked. If not for that I would rated this 5 stars. But the smell was just horrible.
Great central location
Check in was really good We had a great sized room and bathroom The hotel facilities where really good
When checking in our passports were taken we were asked to wait by the guest services station whist our passport details were entered onto the system. We sat there for 10 mins, nobody came over so we we went back to the check-in desk to find it had been done but nobody bothered to tell us so we wasted 10-15 mins for no reason. The man on Concierge however was excellent. The hotel is in a good location but overpriced.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we were given was in a great location and very cozy.
Perfect spot walking distance from central station and cruise terminal, friendly staff, nice room
It’s a normal hotel, nothing for particular! The facilities are old. Nice staff!
This property is central to everything. Right across from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Good Location however it is also next to the church and bells ring for what felt like an hour and the partying from bars outside sounds like it is inside your room. This goes on until 4 am and then you hear the garbage trucks early, so if you are a light sleeper it may be a problem. When coming in late at night its a little sketchy with drunks all over. The rooms were comfortable and fairly clean. I did find a few hairs in the bathroom.
AC fan kept making loud noise all night . Not fixed after notifying. Room had the wood beams too low . Kept bumping our heads while getting up from bed. All hotel staff were very professional .
Great location
Amazing location!
Tuan was very professional and a great host. Very nice accommodations while check-in.
Close to train station
Amsterdam for my wife’s birthday.
Really good central location but I’m afraid this was about the only positive I can say about this hotel. The WiFi didn’t work for the 2 days we were there so had to use 5G and data roaming. Also we had a really restless night on the first night because the air con didn’t seem to be working properly and it was really warm even when we turned it as low as it could go it was still blowing out warm air.
Perfect location in Amsterdam. Expensive hotel, but Amsterdam is one of the expensive cities in Europe. Very centric hotel.
Lovely staff , perfect location
Great Location
Staff were very friendly! The location of the hotel is phenomenal!! The room I got was rather small.
The location is fantastic. Everything else was very average. The room was small and you could hear the outside noise as if all of the windows were open. Both days of our stay, the hallways needed vacuumed. Honestly I'm not sure what criteria need to be met to be a 5 star hotel, but we were expecting a better experience.
The hotel is located next to the central station so it’s convenient. We spent there only one night and everything was good, the staff is nice and trying to give the best service they can. Rooms a bit small and windows are dirty full of small spiders so need more cleaning to do. All and all it was a good experience.
Very close to the center
NH hotel with canal view
The hotel was very nice and the room was comfortable and quiet. It was great looking at the canal. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Great service
Super
Super good. The hotel is close to everything
The hotel itself was quite comfortable and clean. The front staff were helpful with directions and providing location information. If you need to access the train station like we did it is very close, but the area was unclean and quite unsafe as it was on the border of the Red light District.
I'd steer clear of this place
We were put in room 007. Alongside a canal with noisy revellers and a bar that was even noisier to the small hours of the morning. These rooms simply shouldn't be used.
1st time stay at the Barbizon Palace, and we enjoyed it. We have been to Amsterdam 10 times so we have stayed at a few different hotels. Great location and the staff was very helpful. Hotel and room we nice and overall 4 1/2 to 5 star quality. Only possible downside is we had a great room on the side street, so it was loud at night till 2am, but they did provide earplugs...lol.. it was a plus..The hotel is is the redlight district amd central to everything. I would stay again..
Great location and friendly staff.
Best location
The location could not be better. A short walk from the train station and everything basically. The superior room that we had was a good size with a modern bathroom, great big comfy bed and canal view. with windows open it's a bit noisy with people sitting and talking across the canal in bars. but after midnight with windows shut its totally fine. The spa is nothing special. I would definitely stay here if I ever end up in amsterdam again. The location alone sells it.
rooms very small. step up stairs from bedroom to bathroom/foyer very dangerous. Room 209
Disappointed
The hotel was amazing located centrally close to everything you need as a tourist. The room was nice, big and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful, however, we had an incident where we kept smelling smoke (cannabis) in our room, and it was coming from another resident who was staying directly underneath our room and woke us up around 11pm and again early in the morning. We told the reception about this coz we didn't want our toddler to inhale it and not much was done as we smelled it again and again and we couldn't sleep all night coz of the smell. We paid about $1000 per night and we had the worse night sleep.
Comfortable stay in a very convenient location
This hotel is pricey, it costs much more than what I normally pay for a hotel when traveling. However, it’s in a fantastic location in Amstersdam—right across the street from the Central Train Station and within walking distance of Dam Square, Waterlooplein and other major tourist attractions. This was especially convenient to us because we used the train to get from the airport into the city center and then used the train to go on day trips to other Dutch cities. I booked a Premium Room, No View. Was very pleased with my choice. The room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The room included panoramic windows that opened onto Zeedijk, the street behind the hotel. At the same time, the room was very quiet once I closed the windows. The hotel had one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I have ever come across. There was a large selection of both sweet and savory foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, juices, smoothies and specialty coffees and everything was delicious. There are many restaurants and shops close by. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and they all speak excellent English. If I ever come back to Amsterdam, I will definitely stay at Barbizon Palace again.
Nice Hotel, clean and smart.. service suffered at breakfast time.. nothing majorly wrong, just felt I’d overpaid for what I got.. 😞 Location is great though!
Great place to be in the heart of the city.
Everything was great. My wife didn’t like that stairs wasn’t an option.
Beautiful property in a great location. Tons of great cafes, markets and stores right next door. We loved our room with the canal view. Very nice and quiet. Would stay again in a heart beat!
At check in, they charged me an extra amount per night. When I questioned it, the manager said: "it happens commonly" that the customer books a certain rate with Expedia, and the hotel charges a higher rate. Instead of trying to figure out why there was a discrepancy, they said they could not do anything, that I should call Expedia. So I called Expedia, Expedia called them and emailed them but they persisted in their stance. Then I emailed the hotel manager the following day. Eventually, they understood what I was pointing out and gave me money back. I would not stay here again.
Liked everything. But the room I was assigned was very noisy. I can totally hear all the conversations and screaming kids next door. Room walls appear to be thin. Also a holiday weekend so I cannot get reassigned if I wanted to. Otherwise, 5 stars.
Nice hotel, but some strange rooms with stairs.
We were assigned to a superior room we hitch included an A-frame bedroom on a lower level with stereo stairs and A-frame beams to hit your head on at night. They changed us to a less superior room all on one floor, but the price was only 25 Euros less out of around 250 Euros. The service, however, was outstanding
The hotel is in a very good location , next to the center ,- the stores and red light . You can walk to the train station and downtown.
Our room was too small with bed, sofa bed and cot, there was no walking space. A bigger room would have been nice if kindly offered as we spent a lot of time in there due to the rainy weather. I did say we came to celebrate my 30th birthday which was 2 weeks prior but nothing special was done / no room upgrade. Horrible view outside window. Lots of draft in room from Juliet balcony making it cold for baby. Would be good if staff could bring up food deliveries from UberEats like other local hotels in area as our room was a long walk to the lifts.
Lovely hotel, polite and helpful staff and very clean. Really good location, a few minutes walk from the train station and main shopping areas. Very convenient. Enjoyed my stay very much
Fantastic hotel
Beautiful room, great breakfast.
Very good location.
Excellent stay.
My trip and stay at your hotel was very amazing, staff was very friendly and helpful and was happy to know that your hotel was very close to the district. Will definitely stay with you guys again.
Everything was fantastic, could not fault it
Excellent property, courteous staff, great location, would absolutely stay here again.
Fabulous hotel, walking distance to everything. Staff are polite and helpful, even providing an umbrella when it was raining. Breakfast was well worth it, with lots of choice and even a glass of prosecco if you fancied it.
Nice stay. Noisy outside, because of number of pubs. Baby bed was something that we reminded a couple of times to be assembled.
Great restaurant for breakfast Nice meeting facilities
Stayed here multiple times. Perfect combination of location and attentive friendly staff. Special mention to Roxanna who makes each stay feel like a return to home.
good staff and service
Great hotel and very welcoming staff.
Very friendly staff and excellent concierge recommendations! Personal touch in the room with chocolates and note was a nice bonus! Room was beautiful and spacious!
Brand new hotel along with great welcoming staff
front desk staff very friendly and helpful.
i liked pretty much everything about nh barbizon. the location is great, close to almost everything - no need for public transport, all's within walking distance. the property is nice, clean and comfy rooms, and spacy. the staff are helpful and efficient. good performance : price ratio.
AMS after cancelled plane
It was a single room, Noise of the fridge, not possible to put heating (freezing outside), the size of the room didn't worth at all the Euros 275 paid. However, personal very kind and effective, and good selection of free candies.
The stay was great good location nice room
Great location, breakfast & staff.
I asked prior to my stay if we could have a balcony as it was for a birthday celebration. I was told I would get one. When I arrived the staff then told me there was no balcony’s in the rooms and if I did want one I would have to upgrade which there all sold out.
I’ve enjoyed staying at NH properties, including NH City Center. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. This stay was no different. However, I would not call this a 5 Star Hotel… definitly 4 or 4.5 star. There were just some things off… The hallways were very dark, it was weird. A little more noise coming through the large single pane windows that I cared for. There is a good restaurant/bar on site, and nice touches like complimentary haribo in jars in the lobby. Overall it was a great stay in a great location.
We liked how close everything was and the outstanding service in the “bottles and jars” restaurant. Very comfortable beds, spacious rooms, luxurious bathrooms with nice amenities, plenty of cupboards and storage spaces. Very convenient because it is close to the train station centraal. Negatives were a very weak wifi network even on low floors. I understand that it will be louder on weekends in the city centre, but it was very loud on the first level still at 2am Saturday morning. The wooden sauna was great but the Turkish steam sauna was extremely dirty and discolored. The door was hitting the ceiling and showed already a lot of damage.
Loved it
Great location, the staff was attentive and accommodating. Would definitely stay again in the future.
Right at the Heart of everything. Not as noisy as expectations
Amazing hotel!!! Love it here!
I loved this hotel, staff are super friendly and helpful with anything you need. Rooms are clean and luxurious. Spa is blissful and super relaxing. This hotel is great if you want a nice quiet and relaxing stay, not overcrowded at all, not loud at all. Just perfect. Location is perfect, central and close to everything. Breakfast is amazing and we are always offered smoothies, mimosas and tea. There is candies left for you to take, and fresh cucumber and lemon water everywhere. A nice gym, free water bottles. Just wow. I went to 5 other hotels in amsterdam and none came close to this experience. And i am very picky with my hotels. I highly recommend Nh collections hotel. Dont be fooled by the "4 star" its really a 5 star trust me! We will be returning here on our next trip to amsterdam.
Very close and comfortable
The hotel is near the train station and trams. We can enjoy the restaurants and night life of the area. The room is quiet and the staff are excellent in providing services.
Nice Hotel and Great location. We booked a superior room which we didn’t receive, the room was tiny and quite dark. Coffee machine didn’t work and room was quite warm even though it was only 10 degrees outside.
Excellent hotel
Great
Wow amazing!!
Treated like gods this hotel is amazing ill be coming back soon. My only complaint is the tv hdmi channel didnt work, but apart from that it was flawless.
Was at a lower tier hotel and booked NH Collection. The staff was OUTSTANDING. I was on a long trip and had stayed in Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam and the room and amenities was the best. You ask why, they had small wash cloths! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again!!!
Great location right across from the central station with nice staffs. Lots of restaurants nearby, as well as easy public transportation to different areas of the city. The room is a good size given its in Europe. Pretty new inside the room with lots of closet space. Like the bathroom as well and even has a tub! The only minor downside is the water was easy to spilled out when using the shower
Room was ready to go early
Lovely hotel and very convenient location, can highly recommend!
Everything was great at this hotel.. amazing staff that is friendly and makes customers feel welcome.
Employees were extremely helpful, and the property is very well situated for walking to the Square and shopping around and out side dinning.
Clean and lovely hotel. I will recommend to my friends
