Tucked away in the moddle of seemingly nowhere, this place was eerily quiet. Not a single sign of life, and the place almost had an er of having been abandoned with how tired some of the features appeared. For example, there was an abandoned looking tennis court on property that had a puppy tethered to a hut, next to a very hard to find spa that was tucked behind some shrubbery that didnt look taken care of. The room itself was out dated and had spider webs in the curtains. Not a single tv or fan to be found anywhere. This place was overall eerie and didnt sit well with my wife and I as we had left a light on in the hallway on purpose, and the only sign of life was it was turned off when we woke up very early to leave at 4am. The property was pitch black inside and out at that time of the morning, with the light switches in the common room being impossible to find, so it was very difficult to get loaded up.
Newlands B&B was a lovely haven of peace after the hectic traffic of Christchurch. Christine and Andrew were the perfect hosts and we were lucky enough to have an area of their house all to ourselves. Highly Recommended.
Very pleasant B&B for our last night on the South Island. Friendly hosts, beautiful house & yard, comfortable bed, quiet.
It is really great property to stay Christian & Andrew are lovely people we really enjoyed staying here.
Quiet and comfortable on our last night in New Zealand
This property does not automatically offer a "free" breakfast. We were asked to pay an extra $15 pp on top of the rate advertised. The place was beautifully presented, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet, but unfortunately we felt very uncomfortable with our check in. There was no milk provided for hot drinks and we had to use an outside communal kitchen.
It was a very warm and beautiful place to stay, with the most welcoming hosts, Christine and Andrew, who made sure we had everything we needed. The property and surrounding views are stunning making our stay there a memorable one. We highly recommend Newlands B&B if you are looking for tranquility, amazing hosts and a beautiful place to stay in.
We stayed at this place for a night . Words are not enough for this place it is so peaceful place perfect for an escape away from everything. Our room was with garden view it was so so so cool . The best thing was waking up in the morning and hearing the birds chirping. This place really remind me days back in my home country my farm house. It is really a comfort place to stay. So clean and tidy place well maintained the whole property. We will definitely come back to stay here again and again.
loved the peace and quiet
Beautiful place and Christine was so helpful and caring with a medical problem my wife had.
Christine & Andrew were very welcoming and the room and bathroom were immaculate. Great hosts and marvellous accommodation and surroundings.

Christine and Andrew are wonderful hosts. The grounds around the house are beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious- homemade bread and peaches from their tree were extra special touches. We have already booked our next stay!
Very comfortable, very nice hosts ,
Andrew and Christine are lovely hosts and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed the quiet countryside yet handy to Christchurch. Loved the evenings beside the fire.
Our first B&B stay. The hosts Andrew and Christine were both helpful and responsive to all our needs. Breakfast was lovely and the property is very quiet and tranquil. We both enjoyed our short dtsy
Wonderful country retreat
The hosts are very friendly and helpful ! The room was very spacious with a lovely country outlook. The bed is very comfortable and luxurious ! Very tranquil and quiet . Definitely will return!!
Very tranquil and delightful place . Great bed and room! Thoroughly recommend !
The property owners went out of their way to return an item I had left behind. Thankyou!
I felt it was a little unusual place to stay, we have never stayed in a b&b before so I am not sure if the experience was normal. We booked the family room, not quite sure what made this the family room. It was just a bed and side tables no tv or sitting area. ( there was a nice community area though no tvs anywhere though). We booked a room that included breakfast, then received a txt that stated breakfast is extra $15 pp. Don’t get me wrong this room was very cheap so can understand if they charge for breakfast but seems a bit misleading that you charge extra and pay cash or bank transfers when you believe that is part of the package. I didn’t question that with the hosts but declined the $15 breakfast. I was told by another guest that there was a extra charge to use the spa pool so didn’t bother with that either. But to be honest I wouldn’t have booked there if o had known these details, They seemed polite hosts, with firm boundaries. I will not be staying with B&B after this experience, just an uncomfortable feel staying at someone’s house, but that maybe just my feeling.
