Good value for money
The room basic but comfortable ,the carpet could do with a clean otherwise quite happy .guests get 10% off drinks and food in the pub which is a bonus.
Great location and affordable in the heart of Arrowtown. While the room we had was dated, it was clean and tidy. The only downside was the lack of air-conditioning to cool the room down on a hot night. The desknfan provided was noisy and inadequate for how hot it was.
Looked out window and you could see the trees and snow capped mountains. Very pretty.
Quick easy check in prosess conveniently situated in the heart of arrowtown perfect for short walks to restaurants. Rooms are in need of an up grade but all i needed was a clean bed and shower and thats exacly what i got
Town was really cool to walk through, good coffee/breakfast options, good lunch options, good dinner options. Good shops to check out and explore. Everyone was nice and will definitely go back for another visit.
Enjoy staying at this venue, very friendly staff and great food.
No microwave and thick blanket for such weather conditions
Room was warm.
Don’t book with hotels.com
Not the fault of the hotel but totally disappointed in hotels.com
Had all we needed but was a bit noisy. Handy location.
Nice place to stay
Unfortunately the wine glass was not cleaned properly.
Ok for one night stay
The hotel is located behind a bar/restaurant, and to check-in, you have to have someone behind the bar do the check-in. To get to the hotel rooms, you go through the hallway to the bathrooms and exit to the back of the building where our room was located. Although the room was clean, carpet was worn and felt unclean. No microwave, just a hot pot (not clean) to heat water. Small frig, some mugs, no utensils but there were standard hotel amenities like tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Window panes did not close tightly which allowed bugs to fly in. Best part was the location due to Arrowtown being only a twenty minute drive to Queenstown. Quirky little town with small shops to explore.
Close to everything and comfortable for an overnight. Friendly pub manager, simple no nonsense checkin and checkout.
You’re right in the middle of the central part of Arrowtown, everything is on your doorstep. The hotel had a great open fire, in the bar area, old world charm
Price and convenience
Booked there as it was a pub with restaurant but it was closed. Sky box was faulty and only worked for 5 min I rebooted it 3 times before giving up. Heat pump was ineffective. Filters probably needed cleaning
Meals are generous. The only window to the room was the ranch slider to the common access, so unless i had the curtains drawn, there was no privacy. The air con, others showers, and other strange noises were loud
Pleasant stay. Lovely meals
Affordable in amazing location.
Clean, tidy and great location. Third stay and will be back again. It is a great affordable base to explore the best of what Arrowtown has to offer.
Good value in the middle of ski season. Comfortable bed and excellent shower with easy access to amenities in Arrowtown.
Hotel was right on the main street. The room wasn’t bad for the price we paid. Yes, there was some paint peeling on the vanity in the bathroom and carpet was used, obviously- but once you overlook that and only use it as a resting spot and the basics. I liked that you could eat in the pub, popular as it was quite busy. One had to park in the public carpark which was free and wasn’t that far.
It is a really good property for a short term stay and their bar and restaurant food is nice.
Rooms had a chiller going in middle of all the rooms and the jug didn't work
Manager was great but was training 2 staff so service a little slow
Brilliant location and very good rate. Nice staff and clean and tidy.
jug and bed
Great budget pub accommodation.
Specious room with everything you need for an overnight stay. Great meals and friendly staff at the local hotel.
Great location to explore Arrowtown and taste the extensive range of wines at the winery below. Rooms a bit dated with limited facilities.
Firstly, the location was excellent and the beds were very comfortable, the facilities kettle, toaster and fridge were in order. . Unfortunately the praise stops there, there was a big, very old stain in the toilet (possibly limescale) nowhere to hang towels, no grab rails. There were filled holes in the walls as if renovations were in progress. The actual shower head was good and the water pressure great. The room itself probably hadn’t seen a vacuum cleaner for a while. There was a dirty sock that had been left under the bunk bed and a pen on the floor by the side of the double bed. I did report this to reception during checkout, they apologised, told me they had a new cleaner and offered a coffee. The other notable thing is the lack of sound insulation between the room next door and the rooms above.
Room very average. Shower fluctuates too hot to too cold. Food very average.
The property was tired. Expensive for very average
Wonderful staff, dingy accommodations
The hotel definitely needed an upgrade and paint work and decor. They were fixtures that weren’t hanging properly, and unpainted sheet rock. Unfortunately there is a very loud band playing across from us until 11 PM we were not able to get to sleep at a decent time. The staff however was wonderful. It would’ve been nice to of been compted a breakfast or a partial refund on the noise issue
Accommodation is basic but has everything you need.
Historical hotel in historic town. That’s was wonderfull
The roof leeked water onto the carpet, the towel rails were coming off the wall there was exposed framing at top of shower the picture on website did not match the actual room,& the carpet smelled like old pub carpet. There was no attempt at repor apon check in & no real concern was given to my feedback to staff.
Weekend away
Good value and good locality
The room was clean and comfortable
A lovely old hotel with lots of charm. The ground floor rooms could do with a little renovation though.
The room was a concrete bunker and several things were broken; towel rail, toilet paper holder, a hole in the wall of bathroom and bathroom door wouldn’t close. The room was airless so had to sleep with ranch door open.
Good value for money and with plenty of options for food and parking is out at the back of the hotel.
The property is central and accessible, however, our two rooms had no electricity to the light bulbs. When inquired at the reception, they said that they can do nothing about it but they can give us free breakfast the following morning. When we went up to have breakfast, they said it is only one option that can be offered free but for other options, they offered us 50% discount. We had no other choice but selecting other options and received the 50% discount. This was really disappointing and not up to the expected standards at all. I did pass on this message to administration on the check out.
Room was very cramped. We had an awesome time on New Years Eve.
superb
Excellent stay.Staff were friendly, helpful, chatty & overall brilliant.Hotel location was superb ,it also had great food & the bar was a proper bar. Cannot fault our stay ,rooms were comfy & air condition was there if need,
Great location in the centre of arrowtown, clean, tidy affordable accommodation
Room was warm and clean, great location. Wasnt noisey either which was good.
Great location. Very noisy at night, hot in room but unable to leave window open because of noise, and window latch broken so kept banging. Small double bed which bounced badly
All bedrooms need updating. No powerpoints in bathroom. Room needed to be reconfigured to work better
Excellent location right in the centre of town. The facility itself has all that you need close at hand in terms of food and refreshments. Room was clean and functional and was value for money.
Great location for the price, right on the Main Street in Arrowtown. People working there were friendly and helpful. Room is a bit dated and old and could use a refurbish.
Very low key, relaxed location. Attached pub is super but didn't cause noise issues. Location is right in centre of village.
Good option on a budget
The staff are very friendly and the food was beautiful. The room is very small for four people but this was reflected in the price. This is a great option for someone on a budget. There was a damp smell from the bathroom that could be improved
Was a beautiful area, friendly staff, warm room. Nice place
There was no reception, we had to stand at the bar in the pub and wait to check in. We were then taken to a dingy office. We were told that the rooms had just been refurbished. There were holes in the bathroom ceiling and walls, no toilet roll holder or towel rails and the fan was hanging out the ceiling. The shower was designed for someone no taller than 4 foot and you had to bend down to get under it. I am 5' 10 only, water pressure was dismal. Lighting was non existing in one end of the room and you needed a torch to unpack your bag. There were puddles of water outside the door and you trapsed this in wetting the carpet. If they regard this as renovated i suggest they start again. The pub staff were good and helpfull as far as they could be. Restaurant food was poor with a definite lack of understanding by the cooks, of the dishes they were offering. An extremely disappointing experence especially as we were taking friends from UK around the South Island. Such a pity as the pub is steeped in character and history and with conscientious owners could be developed into a place worthy of being in the main steet of Arrowtown. Rating 0 out of 5.
Right in the middle of Arrowtown. Good food.
Warm room and clean warm bed Good breakfast Very handy position
Well located for short stay in Arrowtown. Easy access to bar and breakfast facilities downstairs. Enjoyable stay.
Great stay.
Older room but comfortable bed and good heating and shower. Surprisingly quiet since it is right in the heart of Arrowtown. Great restaurant in Hotel and very reasonable. Car parking in a public carpark a few metres from Hotel, Wifi very poor.
Very cold.Heaters didn’t work andNO electric blanket on single bed!!!Arrived late at night and didn’t want disturb anyone.
quick and easy for us as we were there late and away early
The room is at the back of the restaurant and bar, you check in at the bar. The unique street is worth staying at, I was just surprised at the location of the room. Felt safe and everything was quiet. Restaurant was delicious also.
Fantastic location being in the middle of such a lovely town. Great bar and restaurant. Very clean and tidy.
Night with a loud band
My Room was right above a pub and they had a private party with a very loud band playing. The party and band went on till 2:30 am in the morning and I could not sleep at all. It was extremely hot night and there was no aircon or fan in the room. I had to close the window because of the noise outside so I was very hot and did not get a good nite sleep at all. The staff at the check out desk did not seem to acknowledge my complaint when I told them of my nights and lack of sleep. Really disappointed
Nothing I like in particular hotel pictures showing wrong on website
Room had strong smell of sewer . Stuffy room. Could imagine very drafty in winter
Great location right in the middle of Arrowtown- only thing going for it.
The Hotel was central to everything, The bathroom had a mouldy smell to it continually and we could not get rid of it other then that we had a pleasant stay in Arrowtown.
The rooms are very noisy..air conditioners for the building going all night..shower dripped all njght. Worse night sleep in a long time..would not recommend
Last resort
Poor facilities, small, no food utensils despite a toaster, no cutlery or crockery - no plug for basin -no caddy in shower so nowhere to hold soap, facecloth etc - light switches totally in wrong place -to turn on main light you have to go to back of unit. Parking is well away from building in public carpark. Over priced and very disappointing. The hotel meals are very good, the one saving grace.
The unique feeling to check-in at a real cool bar is at first a little strange, but cool as! :D The room was clean and sorted as expected! :) we will defenetly return! :)
Air conditioning did not work. Small fan offered. Inadequate. New owner working hard to update and staff tried to be helpful. Did offer free breakfast after uncomfortable night
Roller blind fell off its cylinder when opening the door. Several light bulbs not working. Strange smell. Fat drums from restaurant stored outside room attracting sand flies. Otherwise fine....bed was comfortable.
A positive experience
In transit from Queenstown to walk the Motatapu Track to Wanaka so a very convenient location, easy room, an opening window and nice pub food.
Staff nice enough but check in was super blasé, room was seemingly all good. Come night a live band started up AT the property, played extremely loud until 1am (room barely mitigated any volume )until i went and saw the duty manager and complained. I know it wasn't his fault but the owners being greedy-trying to run a bar and a hotel that fills in the gaps but unfortunately they should choose between one or the other. Id expect this from a $20 hostel but not something i payed 160 a night for, %100 unacceptable. I asked to speak with the owner/manager in the morning but no one was present at all bar the chef at 10am. Would not recommend for the price at all
Room too full and claustrophobic, check in lady absolutely lovely, other staff very unfriendly
nicehotel with live band in restaurant, close to hiketrail along the river
Nice place, very convenient. Staff great to deal with. Food at hotel was great pub fare
Comfortable great location very much in keeping with character of town Old school
One night max..
Our room for three nights was cramped 1970's cinder block room w/ fresh pain . Cramped, dark space. Could barely get around the two beds. Spotty wifi, no daily room cleaning. Excellent central Arrowtown location, good cable TV channel selection. Suggest one night max, in a pinch.
Great location. Friendly staff. When checked in, told the clerk I had already paid via Expedia, but clerk insisted I had not and charged my card. When I checked my email for the receipt and returned to the front desk, a different clerk confirmed I had already paid and refunded my double payment. Room was cold, but hotel provided a space heater. Bathroom fan blew cold air. Needed better lighting. Stayed two nights, but didn't have any maid service. Appreciated the toaster, hot water heater and refrigerator. All in all, the room was fine; just lots of little things.
Value
Very happy with what was provided at a very reasonable price. Beautiful town and worth spending time there. Comfortable room in the middle of town.
Cetral Otago 2017 Business Trip
The staff were very friendly but the room did not have a window that could open. This meant that when I moved in that day the room was so hot I could not stay in it. I opened the door for a while & turned the heat pump on to cold but it took a long time to cool down. The room was good for the price I paid but there was some maintenance still to be carried out
Noisy, not very clean and very uncomfortable. Food was disappointing and quite expensive. Would not recommend, would rather drive to Queenstown or Wanaka.
Great place to stay, eat and drink, Arrowtown NZ
The New Orleans Hotel is a great place to socialise, eat and drink. It is located in the heart of Arrowtown, which is awesome in the Autumn season. The Hotel is right in the main street amongst the action.
Good location, however, too small room, and toilet
Toilet is too bad, broken saniteties, water dripping all the time.
quaint
In a basic room bed was a bit soft for me maybe new mattress time, nothing fancy but shower worked well, food was good and reasonable, all the staff where very helpful,I,d have no hesitation in recommending New Orleans Hotel, one of the most iconic places I,ve stayed, beautiful town!
Cheap bug cheerful.
Nice location in centre of Arrowtown, nothimg amazing but does the trick.
Very central and close to everything
Very central and close to everything in Arrowtown
Leaking ceiling, pray for fine weather!!
Had a heavy days rainfall and the bathroom ceiling leaked badly. Couldn't change to another room as this also had exact same problem! Was offered a full refund for when we were checking out the following day, but this was contested slightly and had complications when we did check out. Manager / Owner did appear to be about when we checked out, but didn't come over and apologize or try to solve our issues, instead he left it to his inexperienced staff members to sort.
Just an ordinary hostel
Expecting the hotel to be a step up from the other ones in the area but the room was cold, the heatpump was not working and did not even bother to transfer us to another room. The heater was not even enough although the electric blanket helped a bit. The host had to let us wait for a few minutes before entertaining to our needs.
Great location for being in Arrotown
I was originally in Room 6 but during heavy rain overnight there was a leak through the bathroom ceiling. The staff immediately moved me into room 5 for the remainder of my stay. Rooms 1 to 5 facing the river are the more modern of the rooms and are nice & comfortable for a winter stay. Room 6 was very tidied and in need of refurbishing; as may the case be with the other rooms on that side of the courtyard. When you book request a room from 1 to 5.
Loved this place! Great spot right on the Main Street with lots of shops and restaurants. The Hotel itself has a great pub inside. Staff were very nice and the room was a great value for the price
Good location-easy to access all facilities
Served out needs very well & was an enjoyable stay
Accommodation right in the heart of Arrowtown. Shops, cafes, walking trails, wonderful scenery right on the doorstep.
Good location!!!
The room and toilet are clean. Location is great!!!
Staff didnt know there was our booking abd room was cery bad. Its next to restaurant's store and also curtain was broken
Pretty noisy
The rooms are a bit old but clean and were serviced daily, but the televisions (with Sky boxes) in none rooms worked the weekend we were there. The $10 bacon and egg special in the pub is great value and very tasty, but the staff seemed overwhelmed at times, and communication between bar and kitchen didn't always seem to work, resulting in long waiting times and missed orders. The biggest problem for me was that some compressor or aggregate is running most of the night, resulting in a noise level similar of that in an airplane. Despite sleeping with earplugs, we found getting (back) to sleep difficult.
Nice hotel and food
Area is lovely, close enough to Queenstown. Room was clean, there was, tea, coffee, milk and bottle water supplied. Bathroom could do with a revamp, leaky tap and shower, shower also a bit sad looking. Was still a good room for the price. Food was lovely. WiFi worked good.
OK, but old and needs renovation and A/C.
This hotel is old and needs renovation. The first room we were assigned was hot and did not have either A/C or a fan. We were fortunate to be able to be switched to a room that had A/C. Otherwise, I would not recommend this hotel.

Very clean and quite even though it’s in the town centre Staff excellent. Should mention you have stairs to climb.
