Our room had a mountain view that even included a small segment of the wall. After walking the wall we were greeted with dinner at the hotel, and prior to our departure the next day, we were served breakfast. Couldnt have asked for a better experience, thanks.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mutianyu GreatWall Wangshanyuan Homestay, and I can't recommend it highly enough! When Yang Feng Rui picked us up at PKX airport, we arrived at their hotel, and his mom served us a warm, tasty dinner. It was 10 p.m., but they made us feel welcomed and cared for. The spacious, beautifully decorated room was perfect for our family of four and provided a comfortable retreat after a long day of travel (coming from Tokyo). One of the standout features of our experience was the airport pick-up and drop-off service. He was punctual, professional, and friendly, making the transitions between the hotel and airport seamless. It alleviated a lot of the usual stress associated with traveling. Of course, this is optional, and you need to pay on top of the hotel booking, but I highly recommend it. They served us breakfast, and he took us to the Great Wall at 8 a.m., allowing us to enjoy this ancient marvel (with five other tourists, so it was still empty). We were back at the airport by 11 a.m. with enough time before our 1:45 p.m. flight.

This homestay was so amazing!! The host messaged me right after booking and assisted us in transportation to/from the airport, as well as tickets and transportation to the Great Wall for an extremely reasonable price. The couple was so sweet, made us feel extremely welcome in their beautiful home, and even cooked us a delicious dinner and breakfast. We only stayed one night, but wished we stayed longer. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to visit the Great Wall!!

The property was at 15 minutes, waking distance to the Great Wall.However the owner changed 600.00 yuan’s for a trip to Beijing. The areas around the property were dirty. Don’t look like in the pictures!

I chose this hotel because airport transfer was included-however, it comes at a very high price. The amount they charged me for airport transfer exceeded the cost of my two night hotel stay. It’s hard to argue the price when you are charged as soon as you enter their home - you are immediately put in an uncomfortable situation. I felt forced to pay the high price to keep the peace.

Book this! This bed & breakfast was perfect for my trip to the Mutianyu section of The Great Wall! The family was so accommodating, directing my taxi driver to the location over the phone. I was dropped off and picked up at the gate without even having to ask. The food was plentiful and tasty, despite the fact that I got in late. This was a great experience!!

Our family of 7 booked the room that had a large tatami-style bed for 5, and an adjoining small room with a double bed. The quality of bedding was surprisingly good, and everyone had a very good night's sleep. Space was a little cramped, but sufficient for bags to be placed on the floor. Outside the room, there is a shared common area, and my family sat on the sofas and chatted after dinner. We got all our meals cooked by the homestay owner, and while they were very delicious, we would have liked to have an option to walk out to explore different food options. However, there weren't many, if at all, options for street food which we could see. It wasn't a big deal, because the food cooked in-house was so tasty. The chef even asked us if we had preferences. The location is great, close enough to the Mutianyu section of the great wall to walk (around 1km i think) but on quite hilly terrain so you should factor that in if you're also planning to hike up the wall.

It was one of the best places I’ve ever been to, the hall family was amazing and they made me feel like a family member, even though there was a language barrier we understood each other. Everything was great! But one of the greatest things about this place was the food that grandma and her helper cook every morning and every night IT WAS SOOO DELICIOUS 😋 I really appreciate their great hospitality and will recommend them to everyone who wants to feel at home even if you’re away from home. 谢谢你 Thank you

Friendly staff

A great night’s stay

This is a family-friendly establishment. We were taken care of as though we were part of the owner’s family. Our kids played together, they dropped off and picked us up at mutianyu Great Wall and even provided complimentary dinner and breakfast. Definitely a highlight of our Beijing trip. The kids fell in love with the baby kittens they had. Super cute. Home-cooked food was excellent as well. Highly recommend this place.

Our stay here was absolutely perfect. From the moment we booked the owners were communicative and caring. We arranged for transport from Beijing and were greeted on time in a very nice car. Everything was made very easy for us. Arriving to the homestay we were upgraded for free to a larger room. The room itself was beautiful with all the essentials and a very comfy bed. Breakfast and Dinner were made by hand by the family and it was some of the best food we have experienced. From handmade dumplings to delicious breakfast and fresh fruit. She even packed us a lunch for one of our day trips to the Great Wall. The family went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and cared for. The hosts helped us organize which sections of the wall to see and gave us sound recommendations, once again ensuring everything was easy for us and that we were able to enjoy as much of the Great Wall as possible. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. I would love to come back someday. It was the highlight of our trip.

Amazing place

Amazing service, Yan is a very friendly host. He helped us a lot with translations. The food was great. It is a beautiful and peaceful place.

Wow what a hotel, If I could give this hotel a 100/10 I would. Everything from the location, to the convenience of it all. This is a homestay and you literally are staying with the family who are all incredibly lovely and helpful. The son picked us up from Daxing airport for an additional fee. He also helped us with our tickets, sorted this all out for us for the great wall, and EVEN gave us his son's phone to ring him when we were ready to be picked up. We ate dinner which was incredible from the Mum, who also served us breakfast. The whole experience was great. To top it off we paid additional for him to take us to our next hotel in Beijing AND the mum gave us some food for the journey!! I can't stress how incredible this hotel is, if you are thinking of going to the great wall and will be in China for a few nights, this really is the place to be. We had the perfect few days there and even Boris Johnson stayed there! If we were returning to the great wall - i would book this place in a heartbeat. Thanks again!

Would Stay Here Again!

Our family of four had a fantastic stay at the Mutianyu GreatWall Wang Shan Yuan Homestay. The owner and his family not only provide a clean, well designed, and convenient accommodation, they go above and beyond to ensure your stay exceeds expectations. Immediately after booking, the owner contacted us to understand our needs and offer helpful insights to plan the trip. The hotel provided free, private transportation to and from the hotel to the Mutianyu Great Wall park entrance and helped us find hiking routes used by locals. We have two teenage boys who eat large amounts of food and we ate every meal at the hotel. Authentic Chinese cuisine was made to order by the family matriarch and she took the time to teach a few of us how to make local dishes. The food was absolutely delicious! The entire family is engaging, making the stay warm and memorable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good quality lodging with considerable charm.

Very friendly, helpful people. Airport pickup/drop service is very convenient at a fair price - I was assisted with finding and using the Chinese ATM, and I was also helped with purchasing tickets for the Great Wall and the cable car. Breakfast was also very delicious. The room itself is comfortable and cozy. Definitely recommend this place!

It’s a homestay converted from a village home. You can’t see it from the road as it is hidden within other families residences. Nonetheless it is good sized with 9 rooms. We took the family room with a large tatami bed for 3 (which I reckon can also fit 5 adults fine), and another queen size bed in an adjoining room. Proprietress is an able cook whipping out tasty Chinese dishes for her guests as eateries nearby are rather far and few. Her son in his early thirties uses a new 7 seater European suv to provide transport for guests to nearby sights in comfort and style (cost is reasonable). On the wall hangs a picture he took with Boris Johnson, then mayor of London who won landslide victory as UK PM yesterday.

We had a wonderful stay! Mr. Yang was extremely helpful and his mom's cooking was amazingly delicious!!

Everyone was very friendly. They offered to take us to the Great Wall, and they took us to shopping area. The owner made us dinner and breakfast. The menu was very good. The food was even better. Room is nice. Very comfortable.

Stayed here for 2 nights. It is a stress-free option for spending a full day at the Great Wall, with cable car ride to the top. Owners were very helpful with organizing transport from Beijing/to airport and Wall entrance/cable car tickets. Also did a side trip with owner to the Water Great Wall. These were all booked ahead through the Expedia email, very easy. The home-cooked meals were delicious!

What was amazing was all that was needed was there for a good night's sleep and the heat worked perfect even in the bathroom. The host and staff are amazing and do everything for you as needed. I walked to the great Wall entrance from the house. Nice 20 min walk so enjoyable.

Close & comfortable to the Great Wall

Welcoming Chinese family home with your own private bed & bathrooms. They cooked to order dinner for us and gave us rides to the Wall. Very friendly & quiet.

The owner was extremely helpful, dropping us to the Great Wall in the morning and taking us to Beijing instead of the airport. A really nice guy. Thank you!

Our family had a very nice stay. We were greeted at the airport and for a reasonable charge were brought directly to the hotel. The service was wonderful, the meals delicious, and the location convenient for enjoying a stay outside of the big city and close to the Great Wall.

We had a room that held four people. It was large enough for 4 adults. Room was very clean with lots of windows for natural sunlight. The brick walls and wood ceiling provides a warm and inviting environment. Home made meals were authentic Chinese dishes that were whipped up in about 20 minutes. My family really enjoyed the meals. They were all delicious and highly recommended. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

i booked this place for 2 reasons: the great reviews and the proximity to the great wall - We were very pleased. Run by a family, the owners’ son picked us up and drove us back to the airport. Not only did he drive us back to the airport but he actually escorted us to the check in counter and helped us carry our bags etc. He also helped us in purchasing the tickets to the great wall. The home cooked food was great.....so delicious!!! My entire family loved it. The great wall is about a 10-15 min walk, but the son was always there to offer us a ride to snd from the wall. The room was clean, hot shower and air conditioning not a problem. I would suggest though to put a mini ref in the room. Wifi was good. I would definitely recommend this place. THANK YOU !!!!

A nice homestay place that’s ran by a family. The lady boss of the place does all the cooking herself with the help of her friend. She says 最佳搭档！Food is great! Place is clean. There is hot water in the shower. A 10-15min walk to Mutianyu Great Wall’s starting point, the son gives you a lift up when he’s around. The grandson is super cute and intelligent! Buy water here before going up for the hike! Suggest getting 2-3 bottles each for the hike!

Fantastic location - 10 mins walk from the Great Wall, so you can get there before the crowds. The family cook delicious Chinese breakfasts and dinners (at a minimal extra cost) and also provide a transfer service to and from Beijing airport and train station. You can also use the laundry. The rooms are beautiful and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a mountain view family room which was beautiful. It was so nice to stay in the countryside instead of a big over populated city. The family pre-bought our tickets for the Great Wall and dropped us off there in the morning so we wouldn't have to walk uphill to the cable car. (The walk back was downhill and easy.) We really loved our stay here and are so pleased we booked at this homestay instead of a hotel in Beijing.

Value for money it is very good, they collected us from the airport and delivered us to the home stay. Position of home stay was perfect short walk to chair lift to the great Wall. Very pretty area. Had most of our meals at the home stay, they transported us at the end of the stay to the train station. Very obliging hosts.

Perfect location to visit the great wall. About a 8minute walk to it.

Expect to pay dearly to get there!

It was good. The only complaints would be how remote it is. The cab driver had trouble finding it. We also expected our cab rides to cost about half as much so that was an added expense that really threw our budget off. I wish we had stayed in town instead.

Amazing Experience! Local Culture, Personal Touch

I stayed four nights at this wonderful Homestay. This is a family-run business. I particularly enjoyed the home-style cooked food, and personal attention of the owners. Additionally, my experience here include interaction with other guests, local and from abroad. The owner's wife managed to arrange a Great Wall hike for me with two other guests. The hike was from Jiankou to Mutianyu...a very difficult hike as this section of the Wall is not maintained. I recall it took us about 8 hours to cover about 5 miles (the entire stretch), She would not have recommended that to me if I were to do it alone. I was treated to a special hike lead by the owners' wife on my last day. I greatly appreciated her kind thoughts. I learnt Chinese marriage customs from my hosts. I have to admit it is very informative. There is a strip-shopping mall within 20-minute walk downhill from this Homestay. There is a sundry store about 5 minutes away, uphill. This Homestay is located within walking distance to the popular and touristy Mutianyu Great Wall section for those who do not wish to do the off-the-beaten-path, Jiankou-Mutianyu hike. There is a cable car which helps. I would recommend this Homestay if you have an interest in interacting with the local culture and the desire to explore this section of the Great Wall.

The staff is outstanding. Service is amazing. There is some difficulty with communication. However, Mr. Y does an amazing job at trying to communicate. He uses an app to make sure he communicates with you. Location is central to the great wall. Mr. Y took us to the wall and helped us buy tickets. His family and him are great hosts! Do not pass on this location.

We are a family of four from Singapore who stayed with the family for 4 night. The son fetched and help us buy tickets while the mum manages the farm house. The mum prepare dumpling and nice Chinese pancakes for us.

Near the wall

I really liked the hotel because of its location to the wall. It’s inside the tourist area, and in the village of Mutianyu. The people in the hotel are very nice and the food is pretty good too. The breakfast was cheap and good. But this is a very far location from everywhere else and that we are too far away from all the other sites. Getting a cab is impossible though, and everything is closed by 1800. Most restaurants around aren’t open at all and the place is quite close to deserted. The room had quite a few beetles flying around. Was told it’s local and doesn’t do anything, but it’s strange to share my bed with bugs :/ The shower runs out of hot water pretty fast as it’s tank heated and my boyfriend had to take a couple relatively cold showers. When we were there on the first day the hotel was full and the water was barely trickling down, making showering painful. The room didn’t have any extra amenities either.

The host is awesome. Home cooked meal is good but do request for less salt in dishes.The room are clean however the bathroom drainage need to be improve. The water got choke and flooded after each bath. No floor mat in the room

The owner was exceptionallly helpful making sure we had a good stay. The home cooked food is great. Get a local SIM and make sure to load Baidu translate on your phone and the language will be no barrier

This little hotel is incredible! The family who owns it is so friendly and nice. They have pretty good English and do all they can to translate and communicate with you. Might I recommend to eat every meal here, so cheap and so so so good!!

Ideal for Mutianyu Great Wall

Had a great 1 night stay here, the people there were very friendly & room was clean with western toilet with all the usual toiletries. Had an tasty home cooked dinner & breakfast. It's probably the closest you can stay near the Mutianyu Great Wall section as it's only 1km away, so maybe a 20 min walk there & 15 mins back. Or they can arrange to drive you there & back. This makes it ideal if you want to start early to avoid the crowds or want to trek further afield. You can also get the cable car up & the toboggan slide down from here too, cost is 100 yuan each. If you want to do a bit of trekking then they are also happy to take you to wherever you want to go, ideal if you want to see some unrestored parts of the wall

Unfortunately had death in family a day prior to my arrival and had to cancel, hotel does not refund.

Friendly hosts & Close to the Great Wall

The family was really friendly and accommodating to my short stay (as I got in very late at night) and in helping me see the Great Wall early in the morning right before my flight. The room was clean and the service was great in delivering me to the airport right after my quick visit to the Great Wall. (Give the family a heads up if you require a car service!) The place is an hour and a half away from the center of Beijing but if you don’t mind waking up early and your only purpose is to see the Great Wall, I would recommend this place!

Great Accommodation, Oustanding Family, Best Time!

The family were critical to us having an amazing time on the Great Wall of China. Their local knowledge, enthusiasm and friendliness was outstanding. They made us feel very welcome in their home and were adaptable to anything we wanted to do.
