From a friendly, funny welcome to a seamless checkout in the middle of the night to catch my flight, MS Vila Nova was outstanding in every way.

Our room was absolutely wonderful, very spacious and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is very close to the airport and a few minute walking distance from the downtown area. Near everything. The staff was wonderful and we even got complimentary wine and Natas. An absolute delight stay.

Pretty amazing - personalized note and treats in room. Mostly fantastic staff too. The gut at reception could learn a bit about customer service and moving the way to pay inside the breakfast buffet could help, but overall verym good.

I did like everything and the staff were very nice,friendly and helpful. The only thing I miss was a mini fridge to put some water.

Still waiting to hear back from the manager regarding an issue, it has been over a week now.

Great up to date room with all of the amenities. Hotel staff were amazing making sure we had everything we needed. Easy walk to the waterfront, fabulous restaurants and shopping. Parking was just out the front door.

It was a nice comfortable hotel. The staff was friendly and efficient. I wish there was a refrigerator in the room. The interior furnishings were fresh and modern, but the outside could be maintained better. Being so close to the water probably has challenges with salt air, but paint and power wash might make it look better on the outside.

Great location close to markets, restaurants, the train station. Many sites are within walking distance. January is a good time to visit as there are less crowds and the weather has been perfect for us being from Fairbanks Alaska.

The bed is a little firm. The bath tub has a few chipped paint spots. Paint them over so it will look better.

No early check even by 1 hour even though rooms were available. After 8 hours of flying it would have been nice. Going forward we will be booking else where.

Not much I didn't like but it certainly didn't blow me away.

The hotel it's clean and tidy, room of a good size but lack the simple coffee and tea facilities which I believe it's a must. Staff are friendly but slow in my opinion, check out was simply give back the key card but they keep u waiting in a queue for no reason.

Great place if you like super firm mattresses

Nice location in town, close to the airport. Great service, and nice facilities with a restaurant and bar. I know that this is common in the Azores, but the beds were as hard as a rock. Really frustrating to stay in a nice little place like this and not be able to sleep on the bed. If that’s not an issue for you, you’ll love this place.

Decent hotel near Ponta Delgada

Decent hotel. Close to downtown Ponta Delgada. Not too far from airport. No complaints about the hotel itself or the staff. The one issue I had is that I had requested early check-in ahead of time since my flight landed very early. There was no response. I asked at the hotel when we got there and this was the first they had heard of it. We ended up having to wait many hours until we could check in. While I understand this happens, it would have been nice to know ahead of time if this would happen, so we could make other arrangements.

I made a resevation with breakfast included. Once we got there, we were advised that breakfast wasn't included... I saw them my reservation with hotels. com. Unfortunately, we could't enjoy. They advise me to contact you.

Ponta Delgada 2020 trip.

I LIKED THAT IT WAS IN WALKING DISTANCE TO THE CITY.

Conveniently located just a few blocks from the central city’s waterfront, Hotel Vila Nova exceeded my expectations. We arrived very early after an overnight flight from Boston, but were able to check in and go to our room immediately. We’d been upgraded at no charge to a bigger room, with a water view , comfy king-sized bed, and full sitting area (couch, side chairs, coffee table & end tables). The bathroom was modern & spacious, with good-quality toiletries and big fluffy towels. We had the dinner buffet one night, which was tasty & filling, and the breakfast buffet every day but our departure day. There was plenty of variety in both meals, and service was excellent. All in all, very clean, spacious, and comfortable; a good value for the price.

The staff was especially helpful during our short stay. The food at the var was very good. I just wisj the resturant had more choices.

Our second time staying there and wouldn’t be the last.

I like the location. I disliked the age of the building with no room fridge, lousy air condition, very small room, lousy beds, breakfast was the same every day. one euro for a wine-bottle bucket of ice. parking is extra. Lobby is old and needs renovations with new furniture. Breakfast room is too small, often we had to eat our lunch in the adjacent games room. Above all, Expedia lied to us; this is a 3 Star hotel and not a 4 star as I had request.

I don't like the noise from the taking off and out planes, the noise from the neighborhood - the dogs barking all every night.

Convenient, clean, efficiently run midrange hotel. Excellent value. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good, especially the bacon, though there could have been a little more variety and better coffee. Stayed one week. Definitely we would day stay here again.

Good location

We used this hotel for a convenient close to airport location for the last night of our vacation. Comfortable beds and take away breakfast was offered because of our early departure time. I’d stay here again. Short walk to local restaurants

No Room Despite Reservation

Well I got to the hotel and they didn't have the room that I reserved. So it was pretty much a disaster. It took a couple of hours and they found me another place.

Employees are excellent, extremely helpful and professional. The room was very clean and comfortable. They greeted us with a cheese platter sampler that was very fresh. If I could change on thing it would be to add an ice machine even if it was only in the lobby. They leave us a beautiful bottle of water in the room (no fridges in room) but there is no way to get the water cold.

Location was perfect . The cleanliness. Everyone very helpful and friendly.

Property was well laid out, clean and in a good location. Bar area was nice as was the restaurant. Better than expected for the price.

We loved our 6 night stay at this hotel. The staff were really nice and helpful especially the guy with a beard who organised car hire for us and got us a much better deal than we could get in the offices in town.The rooms are great and the beds very comfortable with good quality bed linen and pillows. We had a tv with English news channels and fast free wifi. The bathroom like the bedroom was very clean and liquid soap and hairdryer was provided. The air con worked well but we didn't need it much in October. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. There was some aeroplane noise as we were so near the runway but it didn't bother us and it stopped during the night .It was an easy 5 -10 min walk into town to all the restaurants and bars. The breakfast was great, it stated that it was continental but we got bacon scrambled eggs sausages etc as well as fresh fruit ,yoghurt,cheeses hams breads pastries juices etc. There was great coffee made from freshly ground beans in the espresso machine ( just add 2 shots to hot milk ) It was much better than the other coffee machine making lattes etc. We had one very wet day when we couldn't leave the hotel so we had lunch in the bar and got lovely home made meat soup and coffees served by a very friendly waitress. The buffet dinner menu was 20 euro but we didn't take it as it seemed too expensive for a small selection of dishes , if they reduced the price more people might eat there. The pool area was lovely with comfortable sun beds

Less than 10 minutes to the airport by car. 5 minutes walking to city center. Very friendly staff at check in and check out. Helpful when asking questions for anything.

Nice place to stay and good location

The hotel was very clean and in a good location. Free breakfast that was provided was really good too. There was a pool and check in staff were super nice and let us check in early. Only negative thing that I had to note was the extreme firmness of the beds made it hard to get comfortable when we slept. Just something to be conscious of if you’re someone who prefers softer beds.

Unfortunately the AC was not working so the comfort level is not a true grade.

Hotel AC was out in most rooms. They did give us a fan the first night then moved us to a room with AC for the remainder of the stay. Some nuances for improvement but overall a good spot in a good location for a reasonable price. Would stay here again.

Excellent location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A heated pool would’ve been better. Also needs a paint job on the exterior. Otherwise it was excellent.

Great breakfast

This is an average 3 star hotel. The breakfast was great, better than I've had at many 4 star hotels. Very convenient for getting to the airport.

Great location on the sea, close to the airport, and walkable to restaurants. It’s nice they have parking but too bad it isn’t free (€3). Hard beds. It was too bad that they didn’t have any of the complimentary breakfast for guests that have to take early flights; the breakfast would be €5 if you have to leave before 7:00 am. Nice game room with free pool and swimming pool. A reasonable value for the money but a fair amount of nickel and dining for things. Overall a fine hotel.

Good hotel

The hotel is not very new, non the less very clean common areas and rooms. Breakfast plentiful and good variety. The hotel was very accommodating when I had to cancel one night due to airline change, even though I had a non- refundable rate. Front desk speaks good English, no trouble communicating. The rooms do not provide shampoos/conditioners, so bring your own. Outdoor pool is not heated, pool towels can be borrowed from reception.

Okay stay at Hotel Vila Nova

Bedroom walls are thin and need soundproofing especially in a room with a door that could inter-connect with an adjacent room. Hotel is of an reasonable standard but nothing special for its 4 stars. Staff are courteous but not friendly. It is on the Western end of the city which is convenient for the airport but not in the centre but only a short walk to shops , bars, restaurants etc.

Location was spectacular and staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean.

Exactly the hotel l need in Ponta Delgada

Bed was comfortable, room was cleaned everyday, staff were very helpful, location is great, breakfast is hearty. I would have given a perfect score, but was a bit disappointed that they need to charge for breakfast box for those leaving for an early flight. Overall experience with hotel is great....

Overall good, w a few hiccups

If you can get past the staff being less than apologetic when things aren’t as promised and the feeling of a property that does not have any plans to reinvest real euros into updating a 15+ year old structure, the rest is great. Good location near the airport and the main downtown corridor, clean rooms, solid tv options for all languages, generous free breakfast are all pluses. Worth it if you can confirm in advance what you got on Expedia!

Nice place to stay

We stayed one night and everything was great. The service was great. The rooms were very nice and clean. The TV needs to be upgraded, a little small, actually smaller than my computer screen Breakfast was buffet and everything was very fresh and good tasting. Will definitely stay there again if every back to the Azores

Centrally located in the heart of downtown

Pleasant two week stay at Vila Nova in a room with a king sized bed overlooking the pool. Convenient location in the downtown area of Ponta Delgada. Decent food selection for buffet breakfast, although it is more or less the same each day. Hotel and rooms are comfortable.

The hotel is close to the flight path into Ponta Delgada airport so can be noisy during the day but does not cause a sleeping problem. Overall, very good value for money and and it is easy walk into the centre of the city.

Nice hotel, close to downtown (5 minute walk). Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The airport is fairly close and you can hear planes landing, but that happens ALL over the city. =) Would recommend the hotel!

Great hotel, great price and great location!

Amazing location and easy/quick check-in. Although it states they have an airport shuttle that is not the case, we paid 10 euro for a cab so not a big deal. The room was lovely for the time we were in it, only to sleep, and it was quiet and affordable. Would definitely recommend to future travellers.

Very nice hotel close to the city entre

Our hotel room was excellent with a balcony ffacing the pool. The back of the hotel is quieter than the front and it was nice o sit out on the balacony with a glass of wine. Bathroom was spacious and very clean. The only thing that was a disappointment was the breakfast. However it was included in the cost of the room which was reasonably priced. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Smart hotel in good location

The staff were all excellent, the dining room was too small when the hotel was full but breakfast good. The linen and towels definitely need replacing. Overall good value for money and situated in a very good location. The management found out it was our anniversary and sent a surprise bottle of champagne to our room, that helped to make our stay very memorable.

Great staff and location

Staff was very helpful recommending restaurants, booking them as well as taxis. A special thank you to Raquel who helped me book train tickets. We arrived very early in the morning and although we could not check in upon arrival as no rooms were available we did get in a couple of hours early...much appreciated. Good sized room with a good shower. Breakfast was good but the room crowded. The staff worked very hard to replenish food and clear tables. Some variety would be nice as the same thing was offered each day we were there. The centre of town and restaurants were just a short walk away

Very clean, very attentive staff, great location

I recommend requesting a room with a patio. Typical continental breakfast. Beds are like a board, but I prefer softer beds. Excellent staff, very clean, great location, walking distance to most of everything in downtown Ponta Delgada.

Great service and convenient location

Reception was very helpful with every request. Our flight left before their breakfast began, and they packed us a take-away box of food for our 5am cab ride. The food wasn't the best quality but we received ham & cheese sandwiches, apples, yogurt, and juice boxes. Only negatives were that the room was hot and the AC was not very effective, the mattress was dated, and the tap water was horrible so you had to buy bottled water. Overall very pleased with the proximity to the airport and downtown Ponta Delgada and the helpfulness of the front desk.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. We had a king size bed but no balcony. Breakfast was good. The pool area was nice but could use some music. It was close enough to walk to dinner. Close to the airport as well.
