Room was good, clean. We don't spend much time in the room so we don't want to spend a lot of money. Good place to stay. Central location. Unfortnately no parking included
Quiet, welcoming place close to everything! Lovely staff too.
We spent one night and although the room was very small, it was quiet, nice people, clean, no problem with our pet.
Don’t be put off by the “hippy” demeanour of the hotel or the low star rating. The rooms are very clean and very specious. Location is perfect for food and shopping.
Quiet and good location. Very basic toom. Was disappointed there was not a coffee service.
Great location! Hotel was worth the value. Had everything we needed.
Nice hotel great value
Great hotel in the middle of town. Lots of good bars and resturaunts close by.
Great stay.
Center of town and at a great value
The only good thing about this hotel is location to good restaurants and shopping. Otherwise it has paper thin walls you can here EVERYTHING especially at night. Had to leave a day early because of unresolved nightly disruptions.
Loved staying here. The hotel was fine for what we paid. No surprises when we got there!
Basic but Good
Basic room but clean and comfortable great location.
Location was great. There was nothing I didn’t Iike.
Filthy and unprofessional staff
We left a night early because we could not be asked to lay in absolute filth anymore. The room was extremely dirty. We went to check out and cancel the last night but a refund was not issued even though the place was horrid. The staff was rude and unprofessional from the moment we got there. One morning I care down and went to get a coffee but the cream and sugar was put away (I drink mine black so I didn’t notice). They were annoyed and then scolded me saying coffee time ended 5 minutes ago. It was an unnecessary comment to make. location is great. Room was very small. Overall I do not recommend this place. Loads of other hotels to choose from close to or in the centre. We took the hit and moved to a hotel a block away. It wasn’t worth staying the last night after how poorly we were treated.
Basic but clean and a great rate. Main downside is sound seems to travel well here. We had no issues with late night/early morning noises, but the potential may be there.
Inn Nelson
Centrally located in downtown Nelson. Friendly staff. Nice clean , comfortable rooms. Not the best for quiet, though. Sound proofing should be improved. Could hear people in the halls and the neighbours talking through the walls all night.
Perfect location. Comfortable beds. Clean Bathroom.
If you don’t mind hotel with no parking, no elevator. (stairs are many and steep), no fridge, no microwave, power socket come off from wall , then this is your hotel. Room also very small ,big enough to fit1queen bed and night table on each side .
Parking was difficult. There is only metered parking and you have to move car every 2 hours. It is free at night and okay to leave parked over night. But town is very crowded and hard to find parking place.
I was a little surprised that there were dogs there. I was glad of the fact, I am an animal lover myself. We had a poor view (the view was the window to our neighbor) but we weren't planning on spending our days there! The beds were comfortable and the rooms seemed pretty clean!
The photography in the hallways was great, convenient ice machine, the free coffee was good, room and hotel were clean and the bed was very comfortable. I also love that this place is pet friendly. My dog also enjoyed his complimentary dog blanket.
I felt it was a fire trap. The window in my room looked out onto a weird elevator shaft area where window air conditioners backed onto. The window was strung with wire. If there was a fire I would not be able to get out of the window. I also do not feel the service from Expedia was very good. When I emailed to change my reservation no one got back to me. Not inclined to use you again.
Nice friendly service. Very comfy bed. This property has a great location right on the main street, but you may have to park a bit away. Great value in a great little city, everyone is so happy there.
Great location, very friendly reception staff, and the room was super clean.
No parking but good location. Staff was excellent
I liked the customer service and location. I did not like that there was no parking and I had to find a place to park on the street and pay for all day parking (going back hourly) and also that there was no elevator (or even mentioned there was not one on the website. Thinking of elderly or people with issues going up stairs).
Location is great. Only thing missing was parking. Being right on Baker street, we had nowhere to park or car other than the street which was meter parking for 1 hour max.
A simple, no-frills place to crash for the night. The room was clean, beds were okay. Location was very central and easy to walk to anything in Nelson.
Great downtown location however the building is old, very spartan, basic cement block construction, apparently no view windows exist
This is a good basic hotel. All the aspects were there and worked. The Wifi was particularly good. Parking was a minor hassle, but that is not the fault of the hotel.
Smaller, older hotel with its own charm. Friendly, helpful staff
Perfect location. Right on Baker St. Steps away from restaurants and pubs and craft breweries. Affordable rates
Wonderful Summer Eve
Stopped in Nelson for one night on our way to Kelowna. Was not expecting much because of the price but was surprisingly pleased despite the price. Reminded us of staying in residence at university with the cinder block walls but it was comfortable and quiet. Absolutely loved the location for a stroll down the Main Street (Baker Street) and finding a wonderful outside patio restaurant Pitchfork (on Hall Street). A wonderful way to spend a summer eve and a one night stop.
Grea location. Close to all the restaurants and breweries. Not a great veiw. But that doesnt matter too much.
There should be much better parking. I had to park on the street and leave by a certain time or pay for parking.
The Mountain Hound is a comfortable place to stay with an absolutely terrific location. It is not fancy but has a classic charm and is clean. The staff, Tiffany in particular, is very friendly and helpful with advice in enjoying time in Nelson.
For the price, this is a great place in a great location.
Great location and staff are wunderful, close to shopping and great restaurants
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The beds and bathroom are clean. The best part of being in the hotel is welcoming staff. You forget about being tired of long time drive
Central location, but no parking (pay on street), no mini-frig or microwave. No in room coffee; available in lobby.
For a budget conscious traveler this fits the bills not fancy but clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly.
Staff was amazing and accommodating, even filled the parking meter for us through our stay so we didn’t have to do it every couple hours.
A clean comfortable room at a reasonable price. Will stay again!
Good location close to coffee shops and restaurants. Big room with King size bed.
good value and great location, easy to walk everywhere. Bed was comfortable. very basic older room, but room but does the trick for an affordable place.
The Mountain Hound is the perfect place to relax after a long day at Whitewater or aftet other outdoor activities. Located in the heart of downtown Nelson, you can walk to groceries, restaurants and shops. If you need to do laundry, there is a convenient laundromat located in the same building. My room was large and comfortable! Can't wait to stay here again!
Great location and old school feel. Concrete walls
Good value, bathroom was a little beat up and the shower curtain had mold spots all over the bottom.
Great location, updated rooms. Also the best price in town
Very clean room, extremely quiet. Staff unfailingly helpful and pleasant. Had our dog with us, it was nice to stay in downtown Nelson and be able to have the old fella with us. Great location. I liked that they had a pail of water out front (out of the way) for other pups passing by. It's the little things that add up to a great experience. The only problem I had were the 20 or so stairs up to the room - (bum knees). If one has a problem with stairs, it might be better to stay elsewhere. Still, up and down we go! Glad we stayed at the Hound.
Friendly staff and great location. The hotel itself is very old but well kept and clean
Rooms were supper small, electrical was pathetic. No view.looking at brick wall. Would not recommed.
Great location, very comfortable beds, friendly staff, very clean.
A great spot to rest your head
Beautiful downtown location with cool and very helpful staff
One day the beds were not made. No fridge! Otherwise fine hotel in great location
Excellent staff and room was perfect to come back to after wondering around town
Window to window. Small rooms.
Hotel right dowtown close to evergthing, staff will plug ypur meters for you as no hotel parking (add to your tab). Great food downtown, recommend😊
The staff is AMAZING at this Hotel! The only issue for me was that we had a room without a view. Other than that....hotel was clean, convienent, and the staff was absolutely amazing helpful and polite
Verry clean hotel staff very friendly
No parking. Only Street parking. Room's windows facing blank wall of next door property ( about 3 ft from window).
Close to downtown, parking can be a problem during the day.
Great area of town. Good value. Small rooms but that fine. Good shower! Window faces brick. It's about where you are. Rooms clean enough but had a feel of just clean enough. Staff not super welcoming.
Overnight stay
Very clean and quiet. Older hotel in the downtown core which is close to a few good bars. The hotel does not have it's own parking lot but there is on street metered parking.
Central location. Nice for price. Would stay again
Good value in Nelson
Motorcycle trip. Good locale in Nelson. Grocery store, restaurants, shopping.
Good Enough
It's not my favorite hotel in Nelson... the brick building doesn't give me a "home" like feeling. But then again, what hotel does? The parking isn't great. With that being said, super comfy rooms, very clean, and friendly staff. Stayed here before, would probably stay again if I'm pinching pennies!
The check in was fast and easy. The young lady at the desk was pleasant and helpful. Beds. Very nice and comfy. Blackout curtains were great. Wifi speed was excellent
Hotel was clean and very locally situated. Staff were friendly. There were tea bags in the room but no instant coffee. Room was dark and crowded. A lighter paint on the walls would help. Our window looked out on a very dark corner. Facility was clean but old and worn. The walls are far from sound proof...we could hear our neighbours peeing in their toilet!
Close and Comphy
Needed to know about the stairs. I could do the flight of stairs at 62 but I struggled with my suitcase and I noticed others did too. Maybe mention on web site.
Great centrally-located hotel in scenic Nelson.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything that we needed. Very quiet and clean.
Decent for the price
Decent hotel, nothing special, staff are super friendly and helpful, right downtown, close to everything. Gets pretty noisy at night, but otherwise good!
OK for a one night stay.
Clean. comfortable very basic. Good for a one night stay. Hotel staff friendly, very nice and very accommodating.
The staff was very helpful and offered to put money in the parking meter for us every hour til 5pm. The ski locker was also a huge plus - since there is no elevator, it was nice to not have to carry our skis up and down the stairs. Very clean rooms, and comfortable beds.
Great location
Great location very close to everything. Pet friendly which was nice for us as we have a dog. The room was very comfy.
Great Stay at the Mountain Hound Inn
Had a great stay at the Mountain Hound Inn. We were in town to ski Kicking Horse, and the location was perfect for that reason. It's on the way from Golden to the ski area, and about a 5-10 minute walk to downtown Golden. The room was small, but it did not matter since there are two large comfortable lounge areas and a community kitchen for those wanting to save a bit by cooking for themselves.
Clean, reasonably priced. Draw back is you have to find your own parking on street which is metered from 9 am to 5 pm
Good location
Great location in dt Nelson. Everything was good, but the complimentary breakfast could be better (coffee, muffin and apples).
Nice downtown hotel.
Clean and comfortable. Close to everything downtown. Would stay again.
Right downtown!
Close and convenient location. Good hotel, quiet and comfortable. Definitely would stay there again :)
Cinder Blocks with an air conditioner. But Clean
You get what you pay for. Cinder Blocks, with an conditioner. OK to sleep in, but not a pleasant room with a pleasant view. In fact the view is of two other air conditioners of the two other rooms next to yours. Bed linen and Bathroom are Clean. Just a place to sleep. The Staff are very friendly. The check-in and check-out were very fast. The 'Continental Breakfast' is a bit disappointing. Greasy muffins wrapped in Cellophane.
it's Nelson
Hard to spend so much for a former hostel, but considering the location, it's likely worth it. Didn't check prices of nearby nicer places, so I don't have a comparison. I would definitely do that next time if I was going though. The place was fine but for nearly $100 a night, I would have wanted something more than a tiny, albeit clean, cinder block wall room. We got a call the second day saying we should have vacated our room, but we were actually staying two nights and the second night got missed. It all worked out. OK place but nothing to write home about.
Mountain Hound review
Despite the concrete walls and no frig the beds were very comfy! The walls were thin - could here the water running for ages with people having showers and coughing....... We stayed one night. Staff were helpful. No parking except in the street where we had to keep coming back to put coins in. The location was great however!
Delays and accusations.
The SAGD ink blot lady accused me repeatedly of not paying for the room when I had paid. They cannot be trusted to run a business.
Perfect location
The Mountain Hound Inn has a perfect location, it's pretty basic but it's clean and the staff was friendly. You have to park on the street and it's metered.
Good clean value for the budget traveler.
Great location, friendly, courteous, professional staff. This was an easy place to stay. don't expect four star, but the room was clean and everything worked.
A Quiet Stay in the Heart of Nelson
Great location downtown Nelson with so many shops and great restaurants. Free parking on the street after 5pm and staff will feed the meter at 9 am if you want to sleep in. Rooms on the 2nd floor are small but very clean and have everything needed for a short stay. Fruit, muffins, coffee and tasty juice for breakfast on the way out the door.
Martin
Good value hotel
No parking space was available for the guest, except paid parking from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Basic lodging for a great price
Basic down town lodging. Clean, comfortable but somewhat dated. Pick up continental breaky. Parking is on street and requires feeding meter for day times.
Great spot, RIGHT downtown!
A comfy little room, clean and safe and right on Baker! It was extremely cost effective and even offered a continental breakfast in the morning with fruit and muffins before we headed home. Thanks Mountain Hound!
Right in the middle of baker street
The hotel was basic but cheap and comfortable. The wifi was spotty but when you're in nelson who cares?
it was a pleasurable experience in Nelson. Enjoyed the day shopping and touring, had a great meal later & enjoyed the night stay in the hotel
In the heart of Nelson for a super fair price
Comfortable beds very clean and very nice rooms for the price. 9/10 would definitely stay here again. The staff is fast and friendly even when rolling in late! Decent continential breakfast with muffins orange juice and tea!
Close and convient😊
We were arriving in Nelson late at night with a big day ahead the next morning. The downtown location AND fair price was exactly what our little family was looking for.
Good Value
A clean basic room. Good location with a comfortable bed. We live just outside of Nelson, so this works for us if we have an evening event & don't want to drive home. Good if you aren't spending much time in the room. Good Value.
Always Good
I've stayed here for winter trips in Nelson several times over several years. It's still good, rooms are nice, location is great if you like being in town.
Just a box with 4 walls in the middle of town
Good enough place to just crash. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and Is close to great food, neat little shops and great to spend time downtown Nelson. But the rooms are terribly small, no microwave or fridge, and the bed was really uncomfortable. I don't know where the sleep number beds were, but not in our room. Our TV also flickered on and off continuously (we could always hear the sound, but the screen would flicker, be off for a # of minutes, and then come back for a few minutes. Quite annoying. If you plan on spending most of your time out Nd about, staying here would be handy. But if you're room dwellers, I would say move on.
Convenient and Clean Hotel
Stayed here while on a cycling trip with fellow travelers. Centrally located in Nelson. Room was clean, bed comfortable, and shower hot! Staff very friendly. Can't ask for more!

Location was fantastic. Shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs all at your doorstep. Great atmosphere.
