A property in the center of it all, walkable to many places in Manhattan. Fun bar area downstairs and lounge area on the second floor to hang out. Room is very small, but likely most hotels in the area are like this. Service could be improved in the restaurant and at the front desk. I was informed of a daily $10 resort credit since I was a HHonors member, but not told that daily bills have to be put on the room for the credit to apply at checkout. Additionally - towels were refreshed but always 1 less than we needed which was frustrating. Still overall good place to stay.
It was alright.
Lovely staff, beautiful hotel in close proximity to everything. Perfect stay for Christmas.
Awesome
Great stay! Newer property. Clean & easy access to walk to Times Square and Broadway shows.
In a great location. Parking easy Friday night through weekend. Would return
Very clean, modern and great location!
Enjoyed the stay
Thank you to everyone!
Great location. Friendly and helpful service. Clean rooms.
Generally excellent, save for the fire alarms going of in the middle of the night (disruptive, but bound to happen occasionally). Air conditioning in the rooms was also pretty noisy. It's a great set-up for solo travellers but the lack of seating in the rooms might be an issue. The views are incredible from the Landmark rooms - definitely worth the extra costs
Nice Christmas decorations. Clean property and rooms.
Nice
I recently stayed at the Motto by Hilton in Chelsea, and it was one of the poorest hotel experiences I've had in recent memory. I was traveling with my mother, who is in her 60s. We booked a room with two separate beds - we arrived to find that instead of two queen beds, all that was available was a king bed in an "upgraded" room. The bed in said room was definitely not a king, and the room was very small for two people who weren't a couple. Fine though OK, it's my mom so we were going to make it work. Except then we had to call maintenance to our room a total of four times because: 1. The bathroom door came off the track 2. There was no hot water in the shower or the sink 3. The phone wasn't working and the bathroom door came off the track again and 4. You guessed it, the bathroom door was off the track again. This was in a period of about 24 hours, to be clear. Fortunately, they were able to fix the hot water in the shower, but our sink still did not have any hot water throughout our entire stay. When we arrived the bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned and they also had to send housekeeping up to clean the bathroom. Clearly, this room wasn't guest-ready, and they just gave it to us because the hotel was oversold. Everything about this hotel was ridiculous, from $5 coffee in the morning to the complete lack of amenities and cleanliness. I am thoroughly unimpressed, both by how poorly our stay went and our accommodations were, and how the front desk handled our issues.
Great location. Nice clean and quiet.
Great stay once again!
Great new York City vibe
Nice and clean hotel. Extremely small room, OK for singles but a stretch for the couples. No closet, you live from a suitcase. Perhaps typical for Manhattan…
Great, small room.
Wonderful + reasonable
Super grateful for this place. It's the only one I can find in my area that's excellent quality but still somewhat affordable. My only request is that they add a microwave to the property!
On the dark side of town. Shower head was low and square footage was smaller
Don’t go
Only one elevator worked which meant we had to walk up 17 flights or wait up to 27min to get to our room. Even though they say they offer room service, if you call down, they say no. I had a broken coffee maker in my room and I had to beg (literally beg) for a new one. They just kept telling me I didn’t know how to use it. Finally after 3 days of asking and begging and wishing, they brought one to me, told me I was stupid because I couldn’t figure it out and then realized it was indeed broken. They say they have views but don’t. The room is extremely small even by nyc standards. All the finishes are outdated and scarred and just in poor shape. The pillows were nice and some of the staff were lovely. I would never stay here again.
Great spot to stay in Chelsea with nice, accommodating team to take care of you. Only downside was the wait for the elevator at peak times and having to go down to the lobby for coffee in the morning (no coffee maker in the room).
The heating at night was inconsistent. On Thanksgiving day the dispenser & soap were not refilled. Staff friendly and helpful when I asked for an iron. Otherwise a great stay.
Love this hotel!
Great hotel! This was my third time staying and I will be back! Rooms are a decent size for NYC standards.. great views, clean. Location is fabulous, staff is friendly..
Fabulous staff
The room is small, no surprise there, this is Manhattan, but smaller than most. Sink in same room as bed, separate shower/toilet room. Staff; Replaced bath towels not hand towels, wash cloths, or spare toilet paper. Had to ask, more than once. Last night, the water turned brown out of the tap late evening, for several seconds, stopped started, did that for a couple of minutes. Ugly (didn't smell). In morning, staff said, "it's safe", but if it turns brown again, don't drink it!!! Blamed it on nearby construction. Not buying that. Back to Marriott properties next time.
Beautiful hotel. Great service ! Very comfortable
That is was walkable and clean
Nice!
I would have rated a 5* if not for the bed being horribly uncomfortable! Our mattress was lumpy and hard and awful! Other than that all was great!!
The property is decent, the staff are really nice, and the bar/restaurant was great. My only complaint is the walls are paper thin so you hear every tiny sound including the women who stayed up for hours partying the room next to mine.
The room was tiny. No place to sit other than the bed. Sink was just inside the door. The bathroom door was a slider and didn’t open, we had to squeeze through a 10” opening until maintenance fixed it. The lobby had a nice bar and sitting area, but the restroom was unisex which I did not like. It was uncomfortable to see men in there while I was refreshing, combing my hair, adjusting my bra strap and putting on lipstick. I felt like the hotel didn’t accommodate the fact that I was a woman. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Great property. Staff is super friendly and everything is very clean. Great view as well. Will totally stay here next time I come to the city!
The room was clean, very well planned space and the view was better than expected.
Great location
Great location with several dinning options. Close to subway to facilitate romping about the city.
Location is NYC was great
Tidy, well-appointed rooms.
2 blocks from Madison Square Park- it’s divine.
Great Place for NYC Trip
Great hotel, very clean, small rooms but has everything you need when you just need to sleep and shower. Great location
Great property clean and safe, very cute lobby bar
Excellent
Excellent
Great stay!
Staff was so kind and courteous. Room was small but so efficient!
Lots of great things about this hotel but the very unfriendly front staff and issues with hot water and air conditioning will make me think twice about returning.
Amazing
Great location. Clean, modern rooms. Comfy bed. Great shower with excellent wafer pressure. Check in was quick and staff were all super friendly. Elevators were smooth and super fast even when it was busy. Would definitely come back again!
Great view and very clean.
The view looking south was stunning with floor to ceiling windows on the 26th floor. The room was small but comfortable. Oddly, we had to go to the front desk for the daily bottled water included in the daily ‘resort fee’ of $30 per night and there was no in-room coffee, and no coffee in the lobby (restaurant sold 2 coffees for $10). We had dinner at the restaurant and it was really good.
Incredible staff
Good healthy food and responsive staff. Great location
super small room without real a closet, no coffee maker, no tea, or hot water cattle. not enough room to hang towels. no real washroom except toilet shower. washing face brushing teeth right in the room in front the bed. Below the standard of stars given
The common areas are taken care of and fun. Room amenities were ok but on the lighter side to fit the room sizes. It will be an ok stay.
We had no hot water for over 24 hours. I asked for a discount and all he did is take the minor fee off of one night. We should’ve been credited one whole night. There’s no way in hell I would’ve booked a hotel that I knew when I landed after a six hour flight on a cold night In New York that I would have to take a cold shower. That’s not OK. They should’ve credited me one night.
TERRY
Hotel staff were very polite. Our room was cleaned daily.
Love staying
Love staying here! Hotel is newer and in an awesome location. Love the casual vibes it gives too
All was good except that the technology needs to be updated. Need more USB C outlets and charging should be faster.
Small but comfortable room but the shower was tepid. Otherwise great and great location.
Good location, very comfortable beds, clean rooms and nice bathrooms. Lobby and lounge area are nice with a good atmosphere.
The worst experience of a hotel in NY. The one good thing is its a new hotel thats all. The restaurant at the hotel is expensive and average, $70 for a one person breakfast in a Hilton?? Thats a robbery. The building has 40 stories and 4 elevators and there are lines constantly to go up or down, it took me 10 mins to go down for breakfast. They make things worst to use the elevators for housekeeping and to freight dirty towels and linens. The staff is unprofessional un trained and young so they dont really care as they dont know any better. I had to change rooms 3 times, 1st room ac was making noises that you wouldnt be able to sleep in, second room had a dent mattress and when I asked them to change they just said they dont stock any so I had to change rooms. Overall terrible hotel to stay at it feels like a hostel but with 5 star prices. I do not recommend staying here at all. Not coming back. And I also dont care about what management has to say so dont reply to me either with your tipycal message that you are sorry, cause if you were you would refund me.
Great location and quiet neighborhood

Sweet night!
Nice Hotel In Great Location!
Our room ( 2 doubles) was clean and the bed was comfy. There isn't a closet but there was plenty of space for our stuff. The staff is super nice and helpful! Thanks to all. There aren't coffee makers or kettles in the room but you can request one. A couple of odd things, though. First, the front desk is in an awkward spot. The bar and restaurant are quite close, and if you arrive at night there is a band playing right next to the reception desk so it can be hard to hear the person who's checking you in. Not quite sure why the reception desk is not where the concierge desk is, it would so much less hectic, in my opinion. And just a small gripe. The 2 water bottles per day that are included in the stay are impossible to open! We had to ask the security guards to open them for us. The Motto is in a great location and I recommend it to anyone coming to NYC.
Fab location, nice vibe, NYC gem!
Our 2 night visit at Motto was better than we hoped for. After a quick search we found this hotel that was a perfect location for walking to the High Line, Chelsea galleries, restaurants (Eataly on 5th, Shake Shack on Madison) and jumping on the subways to the Met and MoMA. While we used to live in NYC (for 45 years) it was exciting to see the city from another perspective- the spectacular view from our floor to ceiling window from the 37th floor (Hudson River, Statue of Liberty, Manhattan skyline). Also pleased with the easy curbside access, outdoor tables for meals and a sophisticated but comfortable bar and restaurant inside. The staff is very professional and friendly; when an unexpected glitch occurred it was resolved with speed and thoroughness. Our room with King bed was simple but perfectly designed to be functional and comfortable. Nice design choices though our room didn't have a closet or chest of drawers which was fine with us but perhaps limiting if you have lots of stuff. We would definitely stay here again. Not the usual hustle and bustle New York scene, just easy and just enough hip to feel it's different than most.
Perfect location.
Great place to stay. Very centric, nice ambience. Last 2 days didn’t have hot water due gas leak. Staff is not too customer service detail oriented.
We loved the location, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. Only bummer was a gas main break in Chelsea that knocked out hot water for the whole block and more. Not the hotels fault…we had a great time there.
It was fine
This is probably the worst Hilton hotel I’ve ever stayed. It looks nice but not feels so. A few things happened in 3 days: 1. The faucet falls apart on the first day. I have to fix it up. 2.The faucet looks fancy, but you never know which direction opens it. 3. There is a DOOR in my window of 12th floor 😅 I don’t know what that for, for Bungee jumpers maybe? 4. You can’t fully control the lights. It will always try to close them. A.k.a if you are lying on the bed and the light will just turn off themselves. You don’t have a choice. 5. The air conditioner was so LOUD we have to turn it off at night. 6. The most absurd thing happens at last night. When I was trying to take a shower, there was NO HOT WATER! I took a cold shower then leave the hotel and wish never to come back.
Fun, funky place! Well appointed, clean and safe. Outstanding location in Chelsea.
Very nice hotel, very clean, the restaurant on property is very good, overall good vibe
Absolutely amazing. Clean and stylish rooms. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Good
The hotel was beautifully designed and well kept, we were so happy to be on a quieter end of town.
We had a great stay--thank you!
cool place
loved our bunkbeds, restaurant is good . they need coffee makers in rooms
Loved our stay. Staff was very attentive (especially Ashley from Lulla!), the hotel was clean and the location was convenient to get anywhere and everywhere.
Nice property with a great location!
I have a few complaints that made this stay rather bothersome for us. 1. Noisy. My goodness, this is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. It starts when you enter the place, the entrance plus check-in are right where the ba and restaurant is. I could barely hear the staff. The noise continues to the elevators where music is piped into the elevators (not quiet music either…I couldn’t get a break). It just wasn’t a relaxing experience, away from the hustle of the city. 2. Charges. When we booked the trip, we paid upfront for convenience. Then when we get to the hotel, there’s the surprise (to us) “resort fee.” We had no choice but to pay it. Then, upon checkout there was yet MORE fees at the end (some taxes, etc). This would have been nice to know upfront. 3. No points. I know it is Hilton policy that we don’t get points if we book thru Expedia (although I didn’t know it upon booking). But this is silly, I paid a lot of money for this hotel and have been a loyal patron of Hilton. It’s our go-to hotel. Plus, Hilton is getting our money either way, so why shouldn’t we be rewarded for our loyalty? Anyway, that part probably irked us the most if this trip. We respectfully ask that you reconsider in this one case for us. Thank you.
Very comfortable, staff was very friendly and helpful
Great staff
Great
Checking in was easy and even got 2 bottles of water for free. However our room key didn’t work so they needed to redo something on the room door key pad which was supposedly done the next morning at 9am. The next day we waited about an hour from 9am and called the front desk since no one showed to fix the door pad. I was trying to explain the situation to the front lady but as soon as I said we had issue with the room key, she said you need to come down to get a new one we don’t send anyone up for that ( cut me off even before I tried to explained the whole situation) I don’t think I will come back to this hotel!! With the same amount of money you can stay somewhere else with better customer services.
I had a great experience staying at Motto. The room was stylish and thoughtfully designed, with smart features that made excellent use of the limited space. The lounge on the second floor was another highlight—it's cozy, spacious, and open until 1 am, which is perfect for business travelers. However, the cleanliness could be improved; we found some hair on the room floor and on the towels in the bathroom.
Small rooms but great common space and outstanding staff all around
Very small room. No space to open 2 suitcases. no closet. only few hooks on walls. Blankets too thin/light. No safe deposit box. No sanitary bag. Very noisy AC. Hotel doesn't deserve 4 stars ratings.
This was a great find. Great price. Incredible view of downtown. Service was excellent. Room had just what I needed.
Smallish, but well designed room—especially for a solo traveler just using the room for a place to sleep. No desk or chair. View from my 26th floor room was spectacular and made the room less claustrophobic feeling. Friendly staff.
I would stay again
Love it.
Love the Motto. My favorite place to stay in NYC.
Room was more like a very nice dorm room. Staff at the front desk seemed inept. Nice part of manhattan to stay in. The restaurant looked nice, but I never had time to eat there.
Very dog friendly, good restaurant for breakfast, didn’t like bathroom sink in the room and there was no desk in the room. Don’t recommend if you need work space. Oddly no closets or dresser either. 2 drawers and a safe under the bed. Overall very good.
Convenient location, comfortable accommodations
Nice little room in a convenient location. Only negative comments are the bathroom has a sliding door that did not close all the way and the bed is on a platform against the window so you have to clamber over the bed to get to the far side.
The property is in a good location and convenient to a lot of restaurants and points of interest. All rooms have a small refrigerator but most of them didn't work. The hotel calls the mini-refrigerators "iceboxes" instead of servicing or replacing the mini-refrigerators.
Horrible experience.
Horrible horrible hotel. Service so worst out of all my experience. We waited 3hrs for check in, still didn’t apologize for inconvenience. Told me to cooperate. Like what?
Beautiful and conveniently located property. Would stay again!
