Lovely, relaxing and historic. Michael at the front desk in the morning was so friendly and helpful. So was the nice woman the evening before on 4/20. Her name I can’t recall but it was an interesting name beginning with L or El.
Love 💞
Absolutely beautiful property and staff were extremely friendly
The property was beautiful, lovely and quiet. The driveway needs some work. I was worried my car was going to drag on parts of it enjoyed my stay
Beautiful and serene- enjoyed staying this weekend and soaking up the beautiful property and enjoying the slower pace of Natchez, MS
Lovely setting and the restaurant was excellent. You have to manage your luggage up and down steps. The rooms do not have a coffee machine or refrigerator. The breakfast was nice but can be crowded.
Beautiful antebellum home with extensive gardens and grounds.
Step into the grandeur of the past. Beautiful property, delicious food and southern hospitality.
The staff and dinner was great. The gardens were in need of some work. Lots of weeds in the flower beds and walkways. We were expecting the condition to be like the online pictures. However it was far from it. The inside of our room also needed to be updated. The wallpaper was peeling in several areas and the furniture was in poor condition. It appeared the grounds has not been keep up. Definitely not luxury.
The history of the home is awesome. The property needs LOTS of TLC. The front desk check in folks were so nice and polite. However, the breakfast wait staff was horrible. These two ladies were extremely rude to not only our group, but to others as well. Thursday was our first morning to visit the restaurant. The ladies were smiling and very nice. We asked if they could make change for a $20 bill for the tip. One of the ladies went to the tip jar and retrieved two 5’s and one $10. When she came back to the table, we exchanged the bills. We left a $10 tip. Out at our car, one of the ladies came out and said we did not give her the $20 bill. We said we did, but she insisted so we gave her a $20. When we counted the money we brought, we were short $20. Those ladies got a $30 tip Friday morning. We went back Saturday morning, and had no issues. We left an $8 tip. On Sunday morning, there was no greeting, the ladies made rude comments to us(“y’all don’t want us here!!”)…we did not feel this way nor did we say this. We had to ask for service…they would not voluntarily come to our table. We politely asked for more coffee, the lady walked right by us with no acknowledgement. They finally came to refill our coffee. We were unable to get anymore refills on our coffee as they would not come back to our table. A very small tip was left today. The waitstaff came out(we were waiting for the rain to pause) and returned our tip with another rude comment.
Maintenance not great. For example, a plastic outlet cover was broken. Fancy spa tub was not caulked all the way around. Water never got above tepid. Yes, it's a historic inn, but we were not in the main building, and there wasn't much about our room that was historic. One positive thing was the delicious food.
Beautiful place. Very relaxing. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast.
Excellent antebellum feel
Beautiful grounds and accommodations
Monmouth has wonderful staff, beautiful gardens and well appointed rooms!
We enjoyed our stay the restaurant and food were excellent
Very nice property. Only thing missing in the rooms are mini-fridges & keurig k-cup coffee machines.
It needs updating. Damaged furniture and stained linens
Beautiful but disappointed
Hotel and grounds were lovely. Really enjoyed the antebellum charm. However, we were disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room. One would expect that in a hotel of this quality. After our first night stay, the room was not serviced. We had to ask for fresh towels at 4:00 PM in order to make our New Year's even dinner. After that, the service was fine.
Loved eating in the Resturant 1818! The rooms in the Carriage House were just plain shabby and tired looking. The carpeting needed replaceing. Was very worn. Rooms needed repainting and walls cleaned. Shower was a puzzlement. Tub very tall hard to step in and out of. I/2 door on shower caused to floor to get really wet. Spray from shower was too fine of a spray and went everywhere. Loved the working fireplace. Plug in sockets were shabby and needed replacing. Blind pulls were dirty, frayed or missing entirely. Basically, room was a complete turn off because of the shabbiness. I would not recommend or ever want to sleep there again.
Anniversary trip
Service was amazing! The workers were all so welcoming and pleasant! Great drinks & food—1818 met our expectations, and breakfast was excellent! Room was clean, not very updated, but comfortable and clean. Decor was appropriate. The grounds are lovely! Great shopping in town also!
We have stayed at Monmouth several times since we moved to the south 15 years ago. It is a peaceful place to relax. Breakfast is cooked to order. Delicious. Southern hospitality at its best.
The property has potential, needs some TLC. Carpet cleaning, paint is really in poor condition. Restaurant was good, service was good, just overall - OK.
Nice large rooms with comfortable beds and seating. Good provided breakfast with staff that was largely amenable to our requests. Showers were tiny, which I might be able to somewhat overlook; BUT there were no towel bars or rings within reach of the shower. Together, that kept the in room experience to rising to excellent. Areas ON the property were nice and mostly walk-able, though the way from our accommodation near the breakfast building lacked pathways behind them to reach the main house (had to walk on grass as otherwise one would have had to wind around a gravel driveway). Areas just outside the property were largely residential and nondescript, though there was a convenience store / gas station just on the corner, which was, well, convenient. The restaurant in the main house was nice but not exceptional.
Absolutely gorgeous place. We will definitely come again!!! The grounds & staff (the two ladies severing breakfast are my favorites) are five star! The restaurant was delicious and charming. Beautiful place!
This is a beautiful and historic property. The grounds were easily walked and well maintained. We really enjoyed the tour and history of the mansion. Restaurant 1818 was great too. This is the best place to stay in Natchez!
Relaxing with beautiful grounds. Convenient location to explore historic areas in Natchez.
Nice place
While a little dated, it was extremely authentic and I would highly recommend for anyone wishing to experience the old South. The surrounding gardens were beautiful as was the overall setting. A great experience.
Great place to relax.
Liked the scenery. Found the room not as clean as it should be. This place needs a lot of work.
Birthday Blast
We had a great stay. Michael was very informative and did 100% make us feel like family. We would recommend to others. Supper was 5star
A beautiful property. We had a relaxing stay. We loved the grounds and the historic main home. All of the employees went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful.
Charming, historical setting with real character. Lovely grounds. Super friendly staff
Beautiful Property
The property is beautiful, and the accommodations were very nice. We stayed in a Deluxe Queen which is separate from the main house. It was nicely decorated and furnished and quite comfortable. We had been traveling for almost 10 days, so were tired of eating out. A mini fridge and microwave would have been great so we could avoid restaurant food for a few days. But this is just a personal opinion and would not deter us from staying here again. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious. We did the house tour and really enjoyed learning about the history of the property.
Great folks and great property
The service was hands down. The 1818 was fair and over priced. The grounds was over grown. There is no spa. No robe. The jacuzzi tub was broken. Yes it’s clean beds super soft. But it’s like the owner hasn’t put a dollar into this place in 20 years
Staff was so nice, room was great!! The grounds are beautiful!!
Beautiful peaceful place to stay
Beautiful property & flowers & trees are gorgeous right now. Having a pretty area to walk around on after scar trip was such a treat. I love being able to sit outside in courtyard for a glass of wine to unwind and the restaurant for dinner is excellent.
The Monmouth is perfect if you want a quality quiet place to get away from it all.
Expedia said we would have a fireplace and we did not. Pretty sure we had the room nobody wanted as it was above the reception area so at 7am it was like people were yelling in our room. I was quite disappointed at the cost vs what we received.
Beautiful setting and attentive staff.
I love staying at Monmouth every time I visit Natchez. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. The property is gorgeous and beautifully kept. Each room is a path through history with beautiful antique four poster beds. The 1818 restaurant serves wonderful food and the southern breakfast venue is lovely and serves a fantastic breakfast. I really cannot say enough about Monmouth other than that if you want to experience something special you must allow them to have your as a guest!
The staff at Monmouth Inn and Restaurant 1818 are exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was cheerful and very helpful. This was our first stay there and we would definitely go back. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners one evening and enjoyed talking with them. The food in the restaurant was excellent.
It was a tale of 2 experiences! Front desk gave us all kinds of wrong information. Restaurant was overly helpful and provided great service as well as food. Shout out to the bartender/wine guy. Breakfast was so-so. Room was very nice size and clean. Grounds were beautiful.
Property is beautiful and quiet.
This was a beautiful property however the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors conversations and other things that yohd rather not hear from your bed. Priced way too high for paper thin walls
Historic inn on lovely grounds. Restaurant is elegant. Nice breakfast.
Great experience!
Don't even think about it
The pictures of this hotel were quite deceiving. The cleanliness was horrible. The hotel was literally falling apart. For an expensive nightly rate, I felt ripped off. I've stayed in roach motels that were cleaner than this hotel. The vents have 6 inches of dust. The floors had bleach spots, were someone was obviously trying to remove something. The jetted bathtub had cracks in the bottom and didn't hold water. There was some nasty stain on the sheets. I slept on top of the comforter. Don't waste your money.
Everyone was so accommodating, from Ivering at the front desk to the 2 exceptional servers during breakfast. You are treated like family and felt like you were royalty.
Beautiful environment, the entire property
St
An absolutely wonderful hotel in the most wonderful of locations. Everything about our night here, from check-in, to breakfast, to the enthusiastic tour of the house the morning after was just lovely.
Property has unfortunately fallen into a state of disrepair. Employees appear unmotivated. Atmosphere lacks energy. Roads around the property have major potholes.
This property has a very interesting history, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the grounds are beautiful. The 1818 restaurant was very delicious. The lounge was so-so….no drink selections I had to just let the bartender know what I wanted. Our room could have been a little cleaner and contained a few insects.
Great service, awesome breakfast. Hotel is a little worn around the edges overall, much like any historic inn, but clean, comfortable and quiet. Grounds are well-maintained and absolutely lovely. Would love to stay again in the spring when the azaleas must be breathtaking.
Such a quaint and historical site. Very interesting. Breakfast and staff were exquisite
We really enjoyed our stay at Monmouth Plantation. The dining at Restaurant 1818 was a nice setting and the food was good but, warning, the pricing was not accurate on the menu. Each item we chose was more money than what was stated on the menu. Other than that, our stay was very enjoyable. The walk on the grounds is very peaceful.
I booked this property day of after a really bad experience at another hotel and it was the best thing I could have done. The staff was attentive, courteous and helpful. The room was big and spacious, the bathroom was huge and the bed was so comfortable, I had to call the front desk to get mattress details. I am definitely staying here again if I’m ever in the area and would highly recommend to friends and family.
Excellent service, courteous staff, very delicious food, very comfortable rooms, and very pleasant overall environment.
Room was very clean and pleasant. Service staff was very friendly and made our stay very pleasant. I will probably stay there again.
There’s not enough words to describe how much we enjoyed our stay. The place is absolutely beautiful and the room was super clean!!! We stayed in the main house and we can’t wait to go back and stay in one of the rooms in one of the beautiful cottages. I definitely recommend this place if you want a relaxing weekend. It is 5 to 10 minutes drive to all the super fun places that Natchez has to offer.
ALL the staff members we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. I gave the building and grounds an excellent rating with the understanding these building's are from the 1800's. The grounds are beautiful to walk around. They will loan equipment to fish in the pond. Afull service restaurant on the property (reservation required) full service complimentary breakfast. We shall return.
Dinner at 1818 was top shelf. Breakfast was incredible. Husband said the drink he had was perfect. Wish the flower beds were a little more upkept and smoking wasn’t allowed on the property at all. Overall, it was a wonder experience for our 10th anniversary.
I have never experienced friendlier or more helpful staff at any facility before in my life. I cannot say enough about how the staff helped to make guess feel so welcome. Congratulations to the management to have accomplished this kind of wonderful feeling for the guests.
Monmouth is quiet, peaceful, friendly, comfortable and full of history. The staff gets 5 stars from us. We will be back!
Wonderful historic attraction to visit and indulge in all they have to offer including fine dining, fishing, and various trails to explore the property. Staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is absolutely delicious as well!!!
The property is beautiful. The restaurant and lounge were excellent. The room was large and comfortable but lots of little things needed repair. They did not supply any water, coffee, snacks, etc as most bnb’s do. Bathroom products were sparse.
Beautiful property, friendly staff, delicious breakfast!
Historic Inn
Overall a great stay, but not 5 star. I realize that there are great challenges maintaining a 200 yr old property. Beautiful antiques and artwork, great history. Food was fantastic. But air vents were moldy, but the room didn’t smell moldy. Rugs needed cleaned. The expansive grounds were beautiful but the garden areas had few flowering plants, and that’s what is part of the attraction. Staff friendly and helpful, but obviously understaffed. Sign of the times.
Very nice manager and hotel staff.
This is an awesome place to visit and stay the food was delicious
Beautiful place, enjoyed our stay
Big House
Everything was fine but I was surprised that we weren’t in the main house. When I made the reservation it wasn’t clear that I was looking at other buildings on the property.
Nice stay.
Our biggest miskake was not staying longer. Did not realize this was a southern estate with beautiful gardens, a pond, and wonderful architecture. The rooms are scattered in buildings around the grounds. The staff were fabulous but make dinner reservations early. This facility was so relaxing and peaceful.
We liked the setting of the property. The woods trail was nice but needs maintenance (l cleared some downed branches as I walked). The guest room bathroom was clean but needs plastering. And there was no functioning in-room coffee maker.
This is a beautiful mansion from 1818 with a fascinating history. The grounds are beautiful and landscaped. A perfect place for visiting Natchez for those who are historically inclined. Our dinner at the 1818 Restaurant on the property was excellent.
Our suite was spacious. The breakfast was wonderful. We ate at 1818 and it was excellent. Wonderful ambience!!
A really nice place. Very well kept grounds, quiet cottage, excellent breakfast & dinner. Will be back again!
Comfortably quaint
Quiet Historical Beauty
Absolutely delightful staff and stay. Would certainly recommend for anyone looking for a great experience in Natchez.
This is a really nice place to stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful property. Would love to stay again.
First impressions start at the front desk
The front desk staff were especially poorly trained. The fella who helped with my bags was one the finest service support people i have ever encountered. He could work for the Ritz-Carlton tomorrow.
It was all good, we walked the property and enjoyed everything, we will probably come back next year on our anniversary, the food and people were great!
Beautiful property and room. Friendly staff.
This was our first stay at Monmouth and we booked another stay while there. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. The staff who prepare and serve the complimentary breakfast went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our meal which was delicious. Our room was so clean and well-appointed. The bed was comfy too. Can’t wait to stay again next month.
Grounds were beautiful and the suite was so nice!!
Everything was great
Lovely grounds
Beautiful property. Fabulous breakfast!!
Southern Hospitality
Truly amazing Southern charm and hospitality! Breakfast was wonderful!
We enjoyed our stay. We had a very rainy day so could not enjoy the grounds. Our next day we were able to walk around a bit. It’s lovely. Great restaurant. The breakfast was very good as well
Such a beautiful place. The staff was very friendly. This was a nice place to spend a wedding anniversary.
Great place to walk around the grounds. Very good breakfast and service.
This was one of the best trips that I’ve ever been on. This place was amazing! The food was delicious! Restaurant 1818, has some of the best food that I’ve ever eaten. I can’t wait to come back!
We had a very pleasant experience.

Everything was great except the weather!!
