One of the best hotels I stayed at. The hotel needs a bit of renovation. Other than that it’s perfect from location and easy mall access from the hotel lobby great staff very friendly and helpful. All what you need you can find it in the room from iron , hair dryer, fully equipped kitchen and more. Definitely it’s the place to stay at if you are visiting Changsha.

Would not recommend. The front desk lady was nice checking us in, but I was not happy with the hotel environment itself. We were given a non-smoking floor, however I was still able to smell smoke in my room and I saw cigarettes by the elevator. What’s the point of a non-smoking floor if it’s not being enforced and people smoke anyways? I heard wind howls all night which is crazy to me because I’ve never stayed at a hotel where I’m able to hear wind blowing every 5 seconds. Booked for 4 nights but ended up checking out after one night and booked a different hotel. If you’re sensitive to noise and hates the smell of cigarettes like me, please think twice before booking.

The rooms at this hotel were spacious and felt like a true home away from home. They were well-equipped, featuring a kitchen and a laundromat that was easy to use—great for longer stays or if you just need to freshen up your clothes. The views from the room were also fantastic, adding an extra touch to the experience. The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and attentive, making sure everything was taken care of. Overall, I was very impressed with the room and amenities, and it contributed to a very comfortable stay.

Very nice view!

The reception staff continuously hung up on me as I had trouble finding the hotel. I was stuck outside the mall calling them for over 2 hours in the cold. I also had to ask them more than 10 times (not exaggerating) for the address for the Uber to pick me up. I missed and was charged for 2 Ubers as the address was incorrect. Terrible customer service. The same receptionist sat in the gym and watched me working out the whole time, was weird.

This being my first time in China, this hotel and stay was absolutely incredible top to bottom. Nice clean facility and rooms, convenient shopping stores around, easily accessible for ridesharing and walking distances and plenty of accommodations for guests. Room service was always so courteous and provided nice clean rooms and sheets and towels from returning from the day. Nothjng but good things to say and would absolutely stay again asap!

The hotel has free laundry service. The swimming pool is another amenity that is unbelievable given the price charged.

This hotel is located in the building of a mall with many dining and entertainment options.

Great hotel, great staff, great location

I had a wonderful stay. The hotel is centrally located and it's very convenient to get around. The room was perfect and comfortable. Exactly what I was looking for. The manager Emma went over the top to accommodate me with everything I needed. She even arranged a special Christmas surprise in my room, as she knew I was spending Christmas alone. It really meant a lot. Also, I had left my power bank in the hotel room and Emma personally mailed it to me in Shenzhen! Top notch service. I definitely recommend Modena and will definitely return next time I go to Changsha. 10/10!

Only a business hotel. Get breakfast elsewhere

Room was great, spacious. Location of hotel was good too. Lack of information about places to visit and staff were not very forthcoming in helping find taxis, etc. which would be difficult if residents don't have a taxi app already. A few drivers did not recognise the real entrance of the hotel. Breakfast was terrible! Not a good selection of food - the quality of food was below standard for Chinese cuisine, also no management of space and seats which gets chaotic when it is crowded. The space is crowded and the food gets ruined quickly.

Nice

The room itself was fine -- spacious, quiet, and clean, with a kitchenette that included a small cooktop. The breakfast buffet was just OK. I was given a smoking room, even though I booked a nonsmoking room, but this wasn't a big problem as there was no strong cigarette smell.

Washer & dryer in unit was very useful. Closet is at a weird location. Hotel smells like smoke but that’s most places in China.

5 night stay at Modena

Good location and spacious as "room" was more of a service apartment or condo concept. Main gripe I had was the hotel did not give me the room I paid for on my first night there and gave me no reason other than rooms were full. Was only transferred to the better room - which I fully paid online for all 5 nights - on the 2nd day after 3pm. No compensation or even apology.

Nice place!

Only 2 comments - Don’t feel nice with pets were allow into the room policy. Water pressure were low. Also GPS unable to locate the hotel entrance. The rest of the things are really good!

Checked in and saw a familiar face in Jennifer at the front desk. Everyone is very helpful. It is hot in Changsha so I ordered ice and it was sent to the room with little delay. The room is always nice, clean, beds are comfortable to sleep in. The pool facilities were clean. Two things: 1: Please keep some of the gym lights on prior to the 6am staff operations. It is very difficult to try and get in an early morning workout. 2: Besides the 2 water bottles in the room I noticed they stopped offering complimentary bottled water in the hotel. Overall it was a wonderful stay and will always be my choice when I come to Changsha.

The hotel is well located with seamless connection to the mall next door whereby u can find shopping, supermarket, and restaurants, café etc. Its so convenient that u don't hv to leave your hotel to get everything u need. Parking is free but u need to use Wechat to redeem the e-voucher. Breakfast on the top floor 43/F from 6.30 to 10am, is what we enjoy most daily as it provided an excellent mix of Chinese and western food. The staff are great from front desk, concierge, security to housekeeping and they as a team provided the best service at the level of a 5 star hotel.

location is good, shopping mall downstairs with plenty choices of food, bed is confortable, twin bed room is confortable for 2 adult and 2 children. Staff are friendly and helpful. I would recommend it.

We only get 1 breakfast. Misinformed us saying free breakfast. Ended up paying expensively for second breakfast. Lame

Great find in Changsha!

Hotel was great - well positioned, great rooms. Very impressed!

Washer/Dryer in the room. Kitchen with stove top and microwave to cook your own food. Jennifer and Tiffany were especially helpful with any questions, and made sure my stay was comfortable.

They provided an excellent breakfast buffet. The room was very clean and very modern . I love the kitchenette

Convenient location

Modena at Changsha is situated in a convenient location connected to a big shopping mall. It’s not near to the main shopping streets in Wuyi and Hongxing Sq. However, they are accessible via a meteo station which is about 15min walk. Room is comfortable but the bathroom condition could be improved.

It is my first time coming to changsha, so I chose the hotel with full facility and this hotel has nailed it! The english speaking staff was not very fluent but very helpful. You would get a worse translator in another hotel though. For first timers to changsha, I really recommend this hotel for helpful staff, easy access to shopping mall and full convenient service so that you will not get bored on your first days. The location is perfect suitable for business travelers as it is situated on the business district. I really love the effort frpm the gym team also its manager, Jerry for helping me to find a great gym partner. Nice gym and swimming pool!

Modern, comfortable, convenient

Very nice hotel. The pool is a big, 25 meter pool, perfect temperature and excellent for swimming laps. The staff were extremely helpful and responsive. Not much to complain about.

Very Helpful Staff to Westerner and airport taxi

I wrote another review about the hotel overall. But I wanted to commend the staff at this hotel. I had a legal document come by email that needed to be printed, signed, and send back out. They really went out of their way to help with this task, never complained, and were persistent to make it happen. Very thankful. The staff were helpful with ordering a taxi, especially to get to the airport. Best to talk with them the day before your flight goes out, assuming you need the taxi in the morning time. Airport taxi usually about $25USD and could take you an hour to get there. And plan for 2 hours ahead at the airport, long check-in, and long security check thru, typically. NOTICE: From airport, or anywhere I guess, to hotel... Make sure you have the hotel phone number! This hotel has an English name, never had taxi understand/know the name plus the hotel entrance is not easy to find. The taxi can call the number to get you to right place. It is a tall building so look up in the sky, you will see Modena written on the side, next to BOFO building.

Really Great Hotel in Changsha

I stayed at this hotel for several weeks. The staff are very helpful and I do not speak much Chinese, but able to sort it out, couple staff pretty good English. Well kept and managed hotel, the maids seemed to be around a lot. I stayed in most all of the different types of rooms, they are all great with refrigerator in all of them. The top rooms were with living room, sofa, table, little kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and a washer/dryer (that was handy but there is also a laundry room on 5th floor) a fantastic room at a decent price. The smallest room is just that but it is okay for one person. Price wise this place is hard to beat for what you get and I recommend you use an online booking because you will get a better price than at the front desk. The 5th floor has a nice weight room and tread mills, a sauna, Jacuzzi, and a big pool, I mean BIG pool with cushion lounge chairs, all indoors. It is really really nice. Breakfast is really good buffet on top floor, 43, even English folks can enjoy this one in addition to the Chinese foods, and definitely worth the couple bucks extra when you book the room. Fried eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, croissants, pastry, cut up fruit, fruit juice, yogurt, and coffee makers - just chose, push the button, then grinds the beans and you have coffee. So the coffee is strong but there is cream milk just add a lot of that, really good. Very clean, well kept, staff helpful.

This is a relatively new addition to the suite of service apartments managed by Frasers in China. Rooms are mostly in tip top condition and well equipped. Breakfast has a very decent spread by the service apartment standard. Besides the typical services you would expect for the Frasers branding, I would like to particularly highlight the excellent services I've received from Ramon and Wesley, who have efficiently and amicably helped me solved a small hiccup during my first night's stay. They spared no effort to go the extra miles and have successfully brought the service standard back on track. Kudos and keep it up!

Heavenly stay

A very nice hotel with good service beautiful rooms and a good breakfast. The hotel is centrally located next to a mall and you could not ask for anything else better than this.

Komfortables Hotel mit wenig Charme

Das Modena Hotel liegt zentral, aber nicht in der Nähe der interessanten Sehenswürdigkeiten Changshas, zu denen man teilweise sehr weite U-Bahn- oder Taxi-Fahrten unternehmen muss. Das Hotel ist nach der Ankunft zunächst etwas schwierig zu finden, weil es entweder aus dem Untergeschoss oder dem 5. Stock eines angrenzenden Einkaufszentrums betreten werden kann. Das Hotel ist nicht das neueste und relativ wenig Charme, die Zimmer sind recht geräumig und sauber, das gilt auch für das Bad. Das Personal ist freundlich. Das Frühstück wird im obersten Stock angeboten und bietet einen großartigen Blick über die Stadt, ist aber überwiegend chinesisch und bietet wenig westliches Essen. Der Pool war eine große Enttäuschung, weil er zwar groß ist, allerdings dient er als Schwimmschule für auswärtige Gäste, insbesondere Kinder und bietet sich für die Hotelgäste nur außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten der Schwimmschule zur Nutzung an.
