Very clean, nice but old decor.

Nice big room, handy location, but because of this very noisy. Bear in mind this is a traditional hotel building with accommodation rooms on the upper floor. Many stairs & no lifts.

Uncomfortable mattress

Room was okay, no soap at all, the stairs to access the rooms too narrow and too many.

No internet access and staff were not very helpful at all

It was a bit noisy at night due to either a generator or air conditioning units outside my window. Shutting the windows helped a lot but it didn't block it out completely.

Second stay here. Accomodation is upstairs not possible for some with movement limitations. Restaurant and cocktail bar are both good quality and reasonable value

A nice place to stay for an overnight stopover

Nice occomodation

Great place to stay overnight for an early start the next morning. Fantastic drive through coffee/breakfast next door.

Lovely old building, very convenient, not overpriced. Bed was a little soft, but otherwise facilities were excellent. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful.

Road trip overnight stay

Motel is on the main road but our room did not hear the road noise, however the refrigeration and central air conditioning motors provided a constant hum. Room was a queen with 2 seater couch, tv and bathroom. Our 4WD could not fit in the underground Carpark so we parked adjacent in the street, no problem. Rooms on 2nd floor but no elevator and the stairs are narrow. Nice place to stay. Meal in the restaurant was also very nice.

A great place for an overnight stay on the way through. Easy, clean and convenient.

Warm welcome and the restaurant meal was good value.

Stay was good. Clean room. Only issue we had was noise. I think it was coming from the events room downstairs. Loud music untill 9:30pm.

The bed had bugs, very itchy night all over. Bathrooms were nice a clean. Very noisy during night with doors banging.

This was good value for money. Clean and spacious. One of the globes over the mirror needing changing - flashed on and off but in fairness I didn't report it to the Tavern. Bottom sheet was small and not able to be tucked in at the sides, a little troublesome. Was a bit noisy but not excessive - it is a Tavern after all. Would happily stay again. People friendly, dining options very good.

I was pleasantly surprised. Most Tavern/hotel rooms are very basic, with often shared bathrooms etc. This had it all. Good value for money also.

We had an enjoyable meal in the restaurant. Our room was clean and spacious. Check in at the pokies bar was a bit unusual and there was no obvious signage on the exterior of the building to indicate it was the Mitchell River Tavern. Also, the lack of a lift to our room upstairs was an inconvenience for bringing in luggage.

We loved our stay since it was the perfect Australian hotel that we imagined an Australian hotel would be. It was clean, had a great dining room, very helpful staff, and a great bathroom in our queen suite. We will stay there again and will recommend it to all our Californian friends

The property had just been painted on the outside, so there was no name on the front of the building, but it was fine

Nice little country tavern

It was a 1-night stopover on our way from the Snowy Mountains down to Melbourne. For the price that we paid, we could not fault it too much. There were a whole lot of stairs to climb from the basement car-park up to our room. Room was a little cramped but was clean and tidy. The bathroom was a good size and had been renovated. So was the corridor. Overall the place was in very good condition.

Good service. Only the bed is not too comfortable. Has an undercover car park which is great. Overall good for the price.

It was clean, quite a good size - pretty happy with the room all in all. The street numbers were not listed on the building. Without the expedia photo it would have been much harder to find. The check in desk was unmanned when we arrived, but a staff member was quickly located and provided help. All in all, happy with our decision to stay at the Mitchel River Tavern.

We liked the restaurant very much. we were disappointed that we hadn't been told about a planned electricity outage on the morning of our departure.

Really enjoyed my stay had everything I needed and was a clean room. Added bonus was the restaurant right downstairs the food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic

Adequate for my overnight stay

Being in the heart of the city was good. The noise from the ac unit all night long kept me awake and was very annoying

Great stay. Lot of stairs but that's more because I'm a little lazy. Only thing is that there's no kitchen/kitchenette so your always eating out.

Mitchell River Tavern

Great place to stay, comfortable room, exceptionally clean. Had dinner there and the food was very good and the dining room is very nice. The bar area is nice, feels safe and isn't super noisy.

The room was sizeable and extremely clean .

The top floor in room 8 is very quiet and had a restfull sleep but next time hopefully they will serve breakfast

When we got there we didnt know where to go and check in then we found a sign that said go to gaming room for all enquiries.Then the one and only staff member finally told us to go to the gaming cashier to sign inw which i didnt think was appropriate.Then after a while we got to check in and as we walked in the door there was a sickning terrible smell of moldy wet carpet on the stairs also the bed was very old and hard with springs just about coming through. Overall not a good place to stay for the weekend we will not be going back there.

Good value for the price, interesting dining room menu. Would be nice to have a place to sit with a drink and not have to listen to loud poker machine noise. I will stay again on my next trip down that way , the aircon was a welcome surprise.

Hotel disappointing staff unfriendly. Price should have included light breakfast. Only friendly conversation from cleaner when departing.

Central Location

We had a most enjoyable overnight stay at the Mitchell River Tavern. It was so central that we just parked in the undercover carpark and forgot the car. We walked the town in the late afternoon and then had dinner in the restaurant. Good food and very nice service as well.

Service above and beyond

A service focused business, when they are willing to help us, even after we've left the area. A huge thank you to Anita who took time to find and postal mail an item we had left behind. The room was very clean. A two stair case hike to our room from the carpark which is at street level under the building. Would stay there again.

Convenience

Great Budget room. Very good facilities and staff could not be more helpful. Undercover parking a real boon. Had dinner in restaurant, great affordable meal. Would definitely stay again.

Noises can be heard from outside to the room where I stayed, windows needs to be double glazed glass. I couldn’t sleep right away because of the noise.

Fine except for the noisy air conditioner unit which was outside our window and went all night.

Excellent value for the price.

Only misgivings were the sounds of the air conditioner from the Tavern’s ground floor.

Nice hotel, close to everything!!

It was a nice room. Rooms were clean and tidy. The staff was really friendly. We asked for ice and they gave us a jug to enjoy with our drinks.

This is the second time we have stayed at Mitchell River Tavern. Comfortable queen room with a very good bathroom. Convenient to Bairnsdale shopping and eateries. Friendly staff. Back stairs a bit of a challenge!

Budget room. Comfy queen bed. Air con. Clean bathroom. Hairdryer. Small fridge. Kettle. Tea n coffee. Stairs to get to rooms from dining room or car park.

Clean quiet and comfortable room. Centrally located in the heart of Bairnsdale.

Most enjoyable stay. Well appointed room with a very comfortable and firm bed. Excellent dinner on the inbound trip. All round - Great Value!!

Great value on budget room.

We stayed in room 7. It was a small room, but that was expected for the price paid and the room had almost everything we needed for an overnight stay. Staff were very accomodating and friendly. Room was clean and fresh.

One night stay

On arrival staff not very welcoming, didn't show much interest, but staff in bar and meals area very obliging and extremely pleasant,

Room is small but tidy and clean, old style yet comfy, but it was a bit noisy in the middle of the night or towards morning when sky was still dark as the truck outside was emptying rubbish bins with glass bottles, took me half an hour to fall back to sleep.

Close to city centre

The hotel was lovely with underground parking available. The hotel accommodation wouldn't be suitable if you have difficulty with stairs.
