Great place to Chill
Great location and very friendly staff.
Was a very nice accommodation at a great price.
Excellent Stay!
Absolutely an incredible stay. I stayed in one of their waterfront villas, and it was amazing! Great shower, a jacuzzi, kitchen, even a washer and dryer! All in all the best place to stay in Port Vila
Staff were lovely. The resort is run down and nothing like what was advertised. No TVs worked, no bathrobes, no beach, spa was unusable, toiletries, bottled water, tea and coffee was not restocked, bins not emptied, ant trails and cockroaches, loud music and yelling from across the lagoon, holes in walls with wires hanging out, broken or missing light bulbs and major plumbing problems. The toilet backed up through the shower drain, no maintenance man available. Two days later our villa was flooded with raw sewage. Belongings that were not soak in sewage smelt like sewage. Chinese man, Alex, was just going to mop the floors. We were eventually moved, twice, first villa had cockroaches in the fridge and same plumbing problems, second move was to a mould apartment with an unusable shower. We slept in the clothes we were wearing as our belongings were scattered between three villas and the resort laundry. Management was unsympathetic and unhelpful and we were offered a free meal. Our belongings were washed and given a full refund after constant complaining. The swipe cards also opened other apartments. Four rooms was the most we seen occupied at any one time. Why can this resort advertise what they are not offering? Going through previous reviews it has been like this for quiet awhile. Shame on the booking agents.
Nice rooms and good outlook. Pool area needs some work. No a single sun lounger available by the pool or beach area which was a huge let down.
Convenient to supermarket and buses to town, lovely surroundings and villa, friendly helpful staff
This place is amazing if you want a nice quiet spot out of town. Plenty of buses go past to catch into town. Grocery store next door an a mama fruit an veggie stall across the road. Staff are awesome help you with all your questions.
It is starting to get a bit run down from lack of maintenance .
Everything was exceptional, only thing that I found odd was the restaurant service. Baby chair would be left unclean from the night before. Had to ask Multiple times to get something to drink with my meal. We ended up finishing our meals and still had to wait for our drinks.
Restaurant can be improved.
The room was good, clean and quiet. The reception service was also good and friendly. Only the restaurant was below average, the quality of food and service can be improved.
We stayed here for 7 nights. It is a beautiful property, very easy to relax and be in nature. Staff were helpful and friendly. Conveniently located next to groceries, fresh produce market and bus stops. Daily housekeeping seemed to be by request only. The rooms we stayed in both had issues (missing amenities or appliances in disrepair) but we would likely come again. If you have issues, raise them with Ros and she will get onto it. The pool was a winner for our kids. Recommend the vegetable frittata and banana pancakes for breakfast!
Very friendly staff, great to just relax.
we had a 7-night stay in a large villa with beautiful water views, breakfast has a limited choice, it's sad the lagoon is polluted and not suitable for swimming, overall, a relaxing stay
I stayed here 5 years ago, just before the current owners purchased the property. The outdoor spaces and reception have had a lot of upgrades and look fantastic, especially the pool. The room we stayed in doesn't look like it's had any upgrades besides a new lounge suite and new washing machine (with chinese only language on the controls), but these over the water rooms were still in great shape. However the other rooms have railings on the verandah missing/damaged and look like they need some TLC. The staff were all fantastic and very eager to assist in anyway possible. The main let down was the choice of items on the menu, half of which were out of stock and we were told they would not be replenished during our stay as they only are able to shop one day per week, so once they run out, it's out for the week. Not great in a beautiful country known for it's fresh meat, fruit and vegetables. However, I would stay here again as it's very good value for money and the staff make your stay as pleasureable as possible
Heaps of potential here!!
We found it difficult contacting the resort while booking online. The reply on Hotels.com would not send and the resort email address was not the one that I finally got a reply from after phoning from NZ and speaking to Thomas who was very helpful. Our check-in with Thomas when we arrived was quick and efficient. This resort like most is not long reopened after Covid restrictions and is obviously still going through refurbishment. Our water view resort studio was good with a lovely view. The bed was comfortable but the fold out sofa bed in the lounge was a bit saggy and difficult for my old tall frame to get in and out of!! The bathroom was good and the shower great with excellent water pressure. Restaurant and pool areas were great. Service especially from Helen, Gianne and chef Mark was wonderful. Once this resort gets the refurbishing completed and tourism kicks in again it will be even better but for the tariff we paid, we were more than satisfied. Would we stay here again?? .... yes we would!
The resort has been sold since the Covid pandemic. The new owners live in Hong Kong and appear to have delegated management to the people who own a supermarket chain. The lack of competent and experienced on-site management means that service is sometimes slow and disorganised. The owners must address this situation urgently to ensure acceptable standards are maintained.
Our stay at Cocomo was really good, the staff and management went completely out of their way to help us however they could. I can't recommend This resort enough in terms of friendlyness, cleanliness and awesome location.
Building works proceeding was a downer. Dont trust the room photos on the web, they are all mixed up. The room we thought we had booked was different.
We had the most amazing room that's deck sat on the water edge, we woke each morning with the most magnificent view. The staff were lovely and helpful and it was great having a super market next door.
Staff, service and good was great. Wifi was too poor and the boats/canoos were all not up to the usable condition.
Such a nice resort with beautiful friendly staff that made our stay wonderful, cant wait to see when they finish renovations. Will definitely stay here again
Staff were amazing. Some renovations going on, lot more needed to keep the property in good condition.
Truly Wonderful!
All Staff and Accommodation was truly faultless. I will be back!
The property needs updating but the staff were friendly and helpful.
I didn’t like breakfast and dinner. I like water view room and easy to get to go anywhere. All of staffs are very kind.
Place for short stay
We spent 5 days in total. First we stayed in room for 2. The room was clean and comfortable. Was airconditioned and the bathroom looked recently renovated. The last 2 nights we had to move to family room. The room was clean but was smelling of cigarettes. The pillows were saturated with the smell. This bothered the whole family, especially the kids. There is a restaurant in the resort. However, the quality of the food was not good and choice / variety was very very poor. We ate only once and had to look for another place to eat. The garden in the resort was well maintained. However the pool was closed for cleaning most of the days and the kayaks were not operational. So there was no any entertainment in the resort. On positive side the Tennis courts were cross the road and next to the resort was a large supermarket which was very convenient. The WiFi was available and reliable.
Our accomodation overlooked the beautiful secluded waterfront and was quite comfortable with the basic amenities however but definitely no frills, the decor was outdated, the TV had only 2 working channels of which one was blurry. Our bathroom door would not close properly and after a daily house keeping left, basic toiletries were not replenished. The staff were pleasant but no more than that and at our buffett breakfast, which was very basic, we were required to continually ask for additional items. Overall, it was basic but would not return.
The most wonderful staff!
Fabulous
Our stay was fabulous. The staff are super nice. We stayed in the water bungalow. It had everything, a little kitchen and washer and dryer. We had starfish and coral right outside our door. Supermarket is next door. There is kayaking and large chess at the resort. We played with the resort cat and there is a playground for the little ones. The resort is small but super relaxing!
location was not too far from supermarket and port villa
Good location, nice staff, nice unit, resort was very weak kept. Water sports equipment was damaged and in poor condition, spa was empty, hot food at breakfast was often cold.
The rooms are nice but the “resort” needs a lot of maintenance!
Great staff, nice place. Could do with some cultural entertainment
The staff made a real effort to learn my name and make me feel welcome. Very nice place with some great views over the river! Awesome 😁 thanks for having me!
A relaxing stay by the lagoon
Our Cocomo Resort stay was made one of our best because of two things. First was the staff who went way beyond what we have had in other places.Special thanks to Anne and Myra in the office and Arnie and the girls in the dining area. Second, the unit we had beside the lagoon was so restful and like our own little haven. The little fish we could feed when sitting on the deck and being able to walk straight into the water, a few outrigger canoes going past and the locals crab fishing. The unit was described as "luxury" but needs a lot of nornal maintanance to bring it up to standard. No milk in the fridge, not seviced on Sunday, heat pump dripping water, roller blinds on front are beyond fixing to make them work, no phone, no deck or side lights working (were fixed), side door wouldn't slide(fixed), outside shower area covered in rubbish and lounger chairs rotting away. There was a new resort manager started the day we arrived and she appears to be trying to raise the general appearance of the resort. The unkept lawns and paths were being tidied up making the whole area really nice, but one groundsman carn't maintain it to that standard. One of the owners from Hong Kong was there also and has made a cooked breakfast alternative. Unfortunatel the continental breakfast was diminished. The banana pancakes as often referred to are very good. The fresh fruit was cut to a small cut up portion. A great resort area overlooking the lagoon with staff I would hire anywhere in the world.
Great location. Staff were beautiful. Property run down.
Very quiet resort very clean but not a lot to do on the resort suit older clients lol lots of crab holes
Was able to check out late which was fantastic. View was nice and very family friendly
Please stay away from this property.
This property is outdated and run down. Nothing is good about it, all the facilities are either not functioning or closed. Very very disappointed. Overly priced accommodation and extremely expensive food in the restaurant. There are rats and dogs running around the grounds, making it very difficult for children. Restaurant kitchen staff takes ages to prepare the order. Do not book this property by getting impressed by the photos as they were taken at least ten years before. Currently it is an utter rubbish. Actually I am seriously considering to complain hotels.com to remove this property from their listing.
Vanuatu family holiday
The resort is past its heyday - everything is rundown (furniture, facilities, appliances), which is a pity because it would not take much to modernize things, for example the garden furniture. The spa was out of order and very dirty. Wifi a bit slow, but normally reliable. Breakfast is too simple and repetitive, nowhere near the 4 stars the resort claims to be. The lagoon is a nice location, but jellyfish appear to be abundant, so it's a bit of a risk. While it is a bit far from downtown, it's really easy to catch a bus/van and in about 5 minutes you're in the centre of Port Vila. Big supermarket really close is a plus, but the condition of the roads in the area is dreadful. Hard to justify the nightly rate or its 4-star status.
Great stay
Fantastic but a bit disorganised in the kitchen
The staff were great, very kind and customer service focus. the location is close to town and next to a big supermarket makes life easier.
Nice facilities in good location, just needs a bit of a shot in the arm regarding food and customer service. Reasonable.
Never too late for a great stay!
Although we were delayed by a day and half due to air nz and weather we had a great stay. Turned up late after midnight to a great room and a complimentary bottle of wine. Next evening we were made extra welcome by Tyrone and the team with a special dinner for two as it was our 20th Wedding anniversary holiday which had started off not too great in NZ. Local people are welcoming and will help you get where you need to and a good source of local history. Good places to snorkel, lots of fresh produce if you want to cook. Great place to do nothing and relax if you just want to unwind.
Good hotel with great staff
A few areas of the hotel could do with a little renovating, but it’s perfectly clean and the beds are very comfortable. The best part of the resort is the amazing staff and fantastic food. We wanted a relaxing holiday and we hardly left the resort.
a very laid back resort
very quiet with all you could wish for nice beach on a lagoon tours organised with out fuss busses to town or any where passing the door. our room was one of the few without a washing machine but staff did a load for free ,and super market situated next door made it very easy to buy food and alcohol as required. dining was fun and each night had a theam such as bbq and film night bon fire night or pizza night a lot of fun especially with children
Holiday.
From the time we were picked up from the airport we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with nothing to much trouble. We were even treated to a mild earthquake which appeared to be uncommon but accepted as one of those things. Food was great and plentiful. Evening entertainment was plentiful and local content was appreciated,
Nice small resort with excellent friendly staff.
First time in Vanuatu and it didn't disappoint. Cocomo Resort was a very relaxing place to base ourselves for the week. The highlight being the wonderful staff who are so genuinely friendly and happy. We stayed in a Waterview Spa Room surrounded by lovely gardens and a direct view to the private beach and water. The central Bar/Restaurant/Pool area was right on the beach and the food was great and well priced. We were lucky enough to have almost the entire resort to ourselves for most of the week hanging out with the resort dog and cat and some of the staff kids in the pool. Felix and the staff really made out stay delightful with Felix helping us with our questions and tour bookings. Nothing was too much trouble. We also visited the lovely sister resort Erakor for a day which sits at the mouth of Erakor lagoon and has great snorkelling off the beach. Highly recommend a visit here. There is a great supermarket right next door to the resort with everything you need and an ATM. Transport to anywhere is as simple by just walking to the road and flagging down one of the many 100's of private busses, So many great places to see by tour, bus or car. We only scratched the surface in our 5 day trip.

We had the deluded waterfront villa. It was really lovely, sitting in the deck overlooking water was just beautiful, we could see starfish and sea cucumbers in the crystal clear water of the lagoon. Only downside was no signal for TV, maintenance changed the TV as everything was in Chinese, but still no signal. Only a minor hiccup as we were on holiday, not there to watch TV. Fully self co tai ed with washing Mach and dryer, instructions again in Chinese but I worked it out. Air conditioner worked perfectly, and the spa batch was lovely and relaxing. Rosie on front desk was very helpful and friendly like all the staff in the restaurant etc. breakfast daily included was a bonus and looked forward to it each mornjng. Another bonus supermarket right next door selling everything including wine and beer. We loved staying there as on reading some of the reviews we were feeling a bit reluctant to stay there, but on our own experience we highly recommend staying here, and for the price we paid it was very reasonable.
