Excellent service anda beautiful property. They have the most beautiful infinity pool I’ve ever been to.
Great location overlooking the ocean.
Some of the employees are wonderful and supportive. Super breakfast ♥️
Love it.
Quarto limpo, enxoval novo. Recomendo.
A localização é ótima. Próxima à praia e a restaurantes. Hotel limpo. Funcionários gentis. Café da manhã muito bom. Certamente voltarei.
The property is very well located with a lots of to do walkable . The staff’s is knowledgeable and friendly.
Excellent location
Good, but bathroom is very old and no well cleaned…
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was lovely and the amenities are very nice (I used the gym & the pool). my only complaint is that the hotel rooms could use some renovation, however it's in great location with a beautiful view!
Chuveiro. Devem melhorar a manutenção geral.
Wonderful
The room was not super clean, and it’s not well maintained, bathroom as well. Towels was really old but clean! The staff was okay, not super friendly, the location was fine! For the price of almost 400 reais I would expect but more!
Great option if you're staying at Rio Vermelho neighbourhood. Close to everything. The hotel is great, but the pool and the breakfast are spectacular!
Decepcionado
Filas imensas . Pedi um late check apenas até as 14hs . Me cobraram . Serviço de piscina muito fraco .
Reforma urgente
Mediano ruim. Quarto precisa de reforma… banheiro sujo. Custo benefício sofrível. Não indico.
Lots of room for improvement
Got woken up at by building work drilling against the window at 8am, with no notice or warning about this at check in. Very dated hotel style and rooms. Very average breakfast. Nice pool. Telephone in the room did not work. The key cards for the room had to be changed about 8 times as they kept on stopped working.
Staff super friendly, helpful, professional. Location was ideal for my purpose. Airport 25 minutes and a easy ride. All you need or questioned, were answered and or provided. Amazing!
Like most properties in Brazil they dont give any maintenance to their buildings, this hotel they actually where renovating outside . In morning very lively area but night quit and can be dangerous to walk. Rooms clean and good size
Quiet place with a pool area that provides a wonderful view of the beach.
Michelle at the front desk was a gem.
Next time you stay there, Make sure to check under the bed. We found a condom down there.
Great beach/pool view. Clean rooms. Great location. A woman named Jessica at the front desk speaks great English and was so kind and generous in helping me arrange a last minute trip to Morro SP, including transit. She took great initiative in helping me solve a situation, and with such kindness. The only downer was the other guests at the hotel are very loud, with their own speakers blasting the music of their choice for everyone. The hotel could have some rules and enforcement.
Very pleasant.
riendl and good location
The hotel reception was very friendly and helpful. The location is great as lots of bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. But it’s a Mercure, don’t expect the Four Seasons.
Vou voltar!!
Hotel maravilhoso.
It was ok. Old property, need some refurbishment and better cleaning service. Mildew in the rooms and hair on towels.
Beautiful ocean view and great service
Service was very good. They upgraded my room free of charge and I had a beautiful view of the ocean and nearby beach. The pool area is amazing also overlooking the ocean. Overall a very good experience
Great hotel in Salvador!
Really lovely hotel. Beautiful room overlooking the sea! Rooms are large and comfortable, with a TV, safe, hairdryer, fridge, and plenty of plug points! The shower is great! Lovely infinity pool outside and a good gym too. Staff are very helpful and professional - Tiago on reception particularly stood out with his friendly chatter and suggestions for our stay. Breakfast is of a high quality with plenty of options - we liked the omelette and juice stations!
We enjoyed our stay
Friendly staff and good customer service. The location was next to some great restaurants and within walking distance to the beach. The room was smaller in comparison to other Brazilian hotels I’ve stayed in. The pool has a great view of the ocean.
Great people
Great people and the service was awesome
Amazing view of the ocean from our room and sounds of the ocean available to us by just opening our window. A wonderful pool with a great ocean view. Delicious breakfast with many options to choose from.
I like that the fitness center had a decent selection of equipment and it was up to date. I also like the breakfast selections, however, the eggs that they put out could have been cooked more. They were so watery and didn't taste good. The hallways also smelled like a sewer, but the smell didn't penetrate the room. Overall the hotel was good and I will use this hotel the next time I stay in Salvador.
A perfect vacation staying
Loved everything about it, the pool, the bar at the pool, the service, the room, the bed, location - perfect for me
The best thing about the property is the reception staff. They are professional, helpful and friendly. The bathrooms need to be upgraded.
Poor equipment and maintenance of it at the gym. Poor amenities in the bathroom.
The property was very elegant and facilities were clean. The breakfast selection was fresh and delicious. Staff courteous and professional.
Did not replenish amenities daily. Had to ask. In ine room they never did it.
Good location but very poor internet connection .I recommend to improve the housekeeping service and also the mattress and the posibilita to have pillows available.
Excellent location & very good facilitie
Very professional & friendly staff. Amazing views & excellent facilities.
Stop who cares. You’re wasting my time. Stop stop stop
Great location in a residential neighborhood
A good basic hotel room--clean and comfortable. My second stay here. I came back because of the wonderful service from the reception staff. They were professional and friendly and willing to help with whatever questions I had.
One of the best hotel experiences I have had in Salvador. The reception staff were particularly friendly and helpful. They tried to sort out some confusion with my airline and kept trying even though they couldn't fix the problem. They were patient and professional and the best reception staff I have encountered in over 8 trips to Salvador over the years. The hotel itself was pleasant and very well located. My room was clean and comfortable.
Nice hotel with great view
This MERCURE chain hotel is well-run with very good, accommodating staff. The only major disadvantage is its location being quite far from Salvador centre and airport. If you don't mind having to spend some extra taxi fare, this quality, safe hotel is a good option.
Okay, but take your money elsewhere!
This hotel is only okay. I think the location is great if you are trying to stay in a fun part of Salvador with lots of restaurants around and a great halfway point between the newer part of the city and older/historic part. In terms of quality, the rooms were old and our floor smelled like mold. The pool is very nice and the breakfast is great. My biggest complaint is the service. I felt like most people working there were in a bad mood or did not want to be there. The only exception was the lady making tapiocas every morning, she was always so happy and greeted me with a big smile every morning! The people at the front desk should get more training because every time I asked for their suggestion on something tourist related, they never knew the answer. I even asked for restaurant recommendations and they all looked clueless. I think hotel staff should be knowledgeable of the area around, especially for tourists who want to do tours. The tour company located at the lobby was NEVER there. I stayed in the hotel for a total of 6 nights and never saw one person there. I would recommend staying elsewhere for the price of a room here.
Great location quiet but close to nightlife
Very well located hotel overlooking the ocean on a quiet dead end street tour company in the ibis next door also good public transport lines passing close by and of course the rio vermelho nightlife a 5 to 10 minute stroll good resteraunts as well casa Teresa great for dinner and Ancorrata for lunch
Bad Hotel on good location
I lived in this hotel for two months some years ago. Nowday it is very different of what it used to be. The hotel needs a major renovation and mainly re-training all employees. Rarely they say "good morning". Even when you wish them a good day, they didn't respond. The only exception is the "bahiana" that prepare food. She is very friendly and accomodative. A friend mine left a package on front desk. The package disappeared. The person on front desk lied to me. She said the package wasn't never left there. Two hours late I found the package in my room, baaaad, very bad. The corridor carpets smells mold The hotel location is perfect.
Nice pool!!!
Fantastic! The room have a good location and the staff was great with us
Stay away from this hotel
The worst hotel. It smells, it looks like a sketchy hostel. They make sure the lobby looks nice until you get to the guest floors. Horrible rooms, the design of the toilet don't leave you any room to use them. The pool looks great until you get in and see how dirty it is. Just find another hotel. Staff barely speak English. Hotels.com representatives were unable to assist me and provided poor service. Will not use this website again.
Great pool, easy to get to Salvador to see the old city. Reception staff was great, especially Ana Teresa
Nice location for ocean view
Amazing
Lovely hotel with great seaviews
Excellent helpful staff clean with a great pool and bar.
No Towels for the Pool
The event staff is responsible for the pool. They do not believe that pools are a necessary item. In addition, there is no place to dispose of a used towel.
4 stars
Nice hotel with a nice pool facing the ocean. Far away from Airport and from tourist activities . 4 out of 5 overall
nice, new, would def go back
Ppl at the buffet and pool bar are VERY nice... Front desk, not so much... Overall, very nice hotel, clean, new, it was more than what I expected! Especially with the price I paid for. However, keep in mind you have to pay extra for parking, and try to get a stay with breakfast included, its worth it!
great pool area, comfy bed....smelly bathroom :(
lovely view, amazing pool area, nice breakfast. unfortunately, bathroom was not clean and smelled of egg and drain. shower and sink covered in limescale... with a little effort this hotel could be turned into an awesome one as area is great- not too busy, cute beach, great restaurants:) prices much lower than in porto
The worst restaurant, and room servise, delivery, ever. A meal, in either place, takes about an hour to deliver.
Right on the beach
First of all i should say that i paid already a low price and was upgraded to an oceanfront unit. So i recommend the place regardless of a few issues. Sleeping with the ocean sounds was great. The room was large enough woth great view and reasobable bed. Quiet at night. Location in Rio Vermelho is excellent. I am happy i did not stay in Pelourinho. It is very easy to get there. Taxis are cheap and abundant. The airport bus comes right to the hotel for 30 reales. You dont need a taxi for airport. Few problems: toilet is insanely positioned. You have to sit sideways unless you are super short. Internet is sketchy during busy hours. Furniture has stains. I must say that this is a common problem in brazil. Overall no big issues and good safe location.
Nice and comfortable hotel
Nice and confortable hotel in a nice neighborhood. The only problem is that the city is quite unsafe and you always have to take a taxi. Breakfast was also very good with a lot of choices
Nice hotel but the rooms had issues
The staff of the hotel is excellent, but the rooms have a few issues. The first problem was the mattress, to soft and bouncy, also the cable signal was bad.
Ok hotel but not amazing, 3 stars
Reasonable hotel for the price. Our room was not facing the water and hadn't been cleaned properly for some time. Shower had good pressure but the temperature fluctuated greatly which made it difficult to relax. Breakfast was very good. Location is good near beach with nice pool which we didn't use and some restaurants nearby. We tried one that was recommended by staff but it turned out to be extremely expensive and was not worth it.
Good hotel for fair price
Good hotel and good location. Only complaint was breakfest, which was a bit expensive.
Great experience. Right on the water and small private beach for the ocean.
Great for all ages
I traveled with my husband and my 70 year old mother and the hotel besides having an amazing view and very comfortable rooms is well accessible to older people. The infinity pool by the sea and the breakfast are its main features. At the down side - you may want to stay in by the pool all day and miss Salvador city attractions. Con: There's a construction site nearby that is noisy and may be annoying on weekdays. Better check with the hotel crew if it's still going on before you book.
Salvador gem
Great hotel! View and pool were excellent. Could walk to many locations for great food! Staff was great although there were few that could speak or understand English. Before going to Salvador make sure you learn some basic Portuguese !
Friendlyservice shame about the breakfast
Enjoyed our stay in the MercureGood room soundproofing Pleased with the size of the classic twin bed room As the breakfast was expensive for the selection we found the table & chairs in the room handy The pool area was good & on the flat so able to use it at any timeThere were a couple of good restraraunts in the same area Friendly English speaking staff
Nice hotel in Salvadoe
Nice stay for New Year's Eve at the pool. The staff was helpful when we needed help with some airline trouble.
hotel on the beach with nice pool area
Very nice hotel, excellent clean rooms, wonderful sea view, helpful staff, good wi-fi, good A/C. Breakfast sounded a bit overpriced, so we went to the hotel next door for breakfast (half the price). The pool was quite nice (almost an infinity pool), though not very big so early bird wins the best location and sun spot. There is not a lot going on in Rio Vermelho, but Pelorinho is accessible with taxi for 15-20 BRLs (there always was a taxi parked outside). Airport is also quite accessible. With meter on is costs roughly 75 BRLs.
Pleasant Stay
Hotel is quite basic but adequate. Rate is reasonable but does not include breakfast, which would be another R60 per day for 2 persons. The restaurant nearby, called Ciranda is quite good. Started by an Australian, it serves pretty decent quality fusion food that is well presented. Certainly worth having dinner there if you're staying a few days. Neighbourhood is a bit rundown unfortunately - nothin interesting within walking distance. Beaches are better further north.
Great Location and Excellent Room
Large room, sea view. Great Breakfast. Gym and Steam Room
Very quick
Based the choice on other reviews and i found what i expected... A comforting place in a very safe area... not too much going on around but very welcoming. If you get to have a western room you will benefit of an amazing view right over the ocean. (a picture) The other wing is really nothing special with ongoing constructions. Several choices to have a pleasant dinner at walking distance
Pleasant stay
Liked the fact that it is right on the ocean, short walk to a nice beach, good breakfast.
Family Vaca in Salvador
Hotel accomodations were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful. Though the hotel is a little off the beaten path, bus service and taxis got us to where we needed to go. If you don't know Portuguese or have someone in your party who does, you may be limited in ability to communicate with staff.
GREAT HOTEL, GREAT LOCATION
The hotel is nice, comfortable, clean, and well located. The infinity pool is amazing. The fitness center is very nice, with the added plus of a steam sauna. The rooms are simple and clean. During our stay, they were renovating the 1st floor, but the renovations caused no problem for us, and everything went smoothly. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was when we needed extra shampoo. Many of the staff members are able to understand and speak English on a beginners level. However, even after going to the desk twice, the receptionist did not remember or did not understand our request and sent us a lot of other toiletries and not the shampoo as requested. Also, we had to pay $2 USD for a bucket of ice. I'm guessing this was because the tap water is not drinkable. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
Good loation, helpful staff and lovely food
Just had a couple of nights here before flying home. Good location, polite and helpful staff. I had a couple of meals in the restaurant and they were both very good indeed.
Great hotel for sun, relaxation and exploring
Really good quality hotel with excellent facilities - highly recommended
great option in Salavdor
the hotel offers value for money,,, nice infinity swimming pool with bar and ocean view.. the room is also nice and comfortable. Check in and out took long time... but all the rest was great
Good Hotel, better Bar Managers required!
Generally a very good choice if you want to lie by the infinity pool and enjoy a bit of R&R. My only real niggle is that some of the bar staff on occasion do not give first priority to serving the guests. Whilst I am sure polishing glasses and moving stock around is vitally important, it is not AS important as serving the customers. Better management in this direction would help!
Great hotel
Excellent facilities. This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed in while in Brazil. It is very comfortable. The pool is amazing. The views are gorgeous. Location is right by the beach. There are lots of restaurants and street food vendors (you must try them) around.
Business quality
Good food, internet, clean room, service, good restaurant.
Nice Hotel
Very good hotel, well maintened and clean in every sector. Well located in a safe neighborhood and near restaurants, beaches, stores and other services. Staff is friendly but with no command of spanish nor english (only 1 person had spanish command). I had a problem with the access to the swimming pool for 3 days (they went to a maintenance and I was not notified at the moment of reservation, I was notified at the moment of the check in) nobody come back to me to with a solution. I was on vacations and pool was important to my soon. Eventually, only after my repeated insistence, hotel compensated my family for the impasse properly.
Smoke smell
Even though the hotel has non-smoking rooms, the rooms still smell like smoke. After we complained about our first room, they showed us 4 more rooms which were supposedly non-smoking that also had a smoke smell. I think cleaning the curtains would easily fix the problem.
Great stay
We had a wonderful stay. Our room was comfortable and looked out at the pool and ocean. We swam in the pool every day and had beverages at the pool bar, ate delicious room service and had a wonderful breakfast buffet every am!
Very nice stay at the Mercure
Not much luxury but all the essentials. Hotel barly 10 years old, in the vicinity of the Pestana, said to be the most luxurious of Salvador.Unfortunately, breakfast did not come with the package and came at 29 R$ daily. Just step outside and get the same breakfast at 14 R$ at the Ibis next door.Pool is a must. Internet functioned perfectly.Location is ideal ,much better than in Ondina. Rio Vermelho has interesting food courts, terrazzas and more action, without the traffic.Safe neighbourhood but use caution.
Brilliant place to stay in Salvador Rio Vermelho
Fantastic hotel with great service all round! Brilliant place to stay in Salvador Rio Vermelho. Enjoy the infinity pool and the warm welcome from the staff. Rio Vermelho is a safe area of Salvador bustling with activity on Monday nights and weekends. Also not far by taxi from Barra and Pelourinho
Very comfortable hotel
I really enjoyed the comforts of this hotel. There's a nice pool with a lovely view of the waves crashing on the rocks below. Good WiFi service in the room, & a big screen TV with some English language channels. The service was very good. I was surprised that the electricity was 220 v unlike most of the rest of Bahia. I needed 110v for a medical machine, and they immediately sent a converter to my room. There's not a lot to do in the neighborhood, but the view is nice & the hotel is clean & comfortable. If possible, get a room with a sea view.
Simple hotel at a great value
I go to Salvador once or twice per year, and I often stay at another hotel that is quite close to the Mercure. I decided to try out the Mercure because I wanted to try a different option. This hotel is simple, but comfortable overall. Good points: 1. Free wi-fi internet access. I have multiple wi-fi machines, and I was able to use the wi-fi access for free on two of them. I was also surprised because the connection was very strong. This was a HUGE plus for me. 2. Very reasonably priced (I paid a fraction of what I would have paid at the other hotel where I typically stay). 3. Clean, comfortable rooms that are conducive to working. 4. Meal prices are more reasonable than other local hotels (though still pricey). 5. Beautiful views of the sea. Bad points: 1. Like many Brazilian hotels, there is no iron in your room. This is very frustrating for business travelers; however, in all my travels in Brazil, only one hotel has actually provided me with an iron in my hotel room automatically (without having to request one). 2. My bathroom was small. There was barely enough space for my legs when I sat on the toilet! LOL But everything was in good working order and clean. I wouldn't let this be the point that deters me from staying here again. Overall, I think that this is great value for the price and I would definitely stay here again. This is not a luxury hotel, so don't expect many extras. Still, it's a basic hotel where you can stay very comfortably.
Great!
The hotel is very nice, situated in a nice neigborhood. Great pool facing the sea, as well as the restaurant. Situated opposite to the beach (a very small but rocky and cute one). Free wi-fi in the rooms. We really enjoyed our stay. The only cons is that people at front desk (when concierge is closed) are not fond of giving directions... this was king of frustrating. But I do recommend it.
Perfect get away from it all ....
The pool is amazing as it is positioned right next to the Atlantic Ocean and seems as if the pool extends into the sea.
Nice
This hotel suit our needs perfectly. It had a beautiful pool (get there early because both the chairs and pool fill up quickly), was right on the beach, and was in a pretty bustling area. I really liked the neighborhood. Restaurants, cafes, and bars were a short walk a way. Also, you could hop on the bus and easily get to any of the other popular areas/attractions in Salvador. The rooms were basic but very nice. My only complaint is that my in-law had some money taken from her purse, which she left in her hotel room. My advice: keep your purse/wallet with you and lock up your valuables before leaving the room and you will be fine.
Great Value on the Beach
Met with some friends for a weekend getaway and decided to stay at the Mercure. It seemed centrally located given Salvador's long stretch as a city. Plenty of dining and nightlife options nearby, but some caution is needed at night. Taxis are always at the front. Private beach with security, infinity pool with full bar service and an absolutely awesome view of the ocean. Slept like a baby with my oceanview and listening to the waves. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit and baked goods every morning. Minor drawbacks -- the bathroom is poorly designed, very cramped toilet seat area, and sink didn't drain well. But this was a great value given the location and service. I speak Portuguese so I didn't test the bi-lingual skills of the staff. You can do a lot worse with high-priced options in Salvador in the middle of nowhere and terrible service.
Mercure was great!
Accepted early check-in and late check-out. Very clean; nice pool; considerate and friendly staff. Great location, close to bus lines. I would definitely return.
Good Location and Helpful Staff
My ocean view room was quiet, clear and modern. The hotel is at the end of street which has three hotels around a small but nice beach. The staff is friendly, although with only limited English skills. A Wal-Mart owned super market is just 1 km. walk away, and there are several decent places to eat in the immediate area. It is located far away from the airport and center of the city, but that should not be a detraction. My only complaint is the gym is in a great space overlooking the beach but the equipment badly needs an upgrade, and is somewhat in a state of disrepair.
Beautiful Ocean view, Fun Neighborhood
This hotel has a beautiful ocean view. There are many great restaurants nearby. The infinity pool is beautiful, the staff is friendly and helpful.
Stinky! Don´t stay there!
The sound of the surf will lull you to sleep, but you need to keep the windows open to air out the smell of the mattress and pillows that have apparently been sweat on and never cleaned in 10 years! Very disgusting. I hated to even lie down, and this must be every room because they changed my room once when I complained. It was too late and I was too tired to go somewhere else, besides having prepaid. Not cheap for this. Exterior & photos look fine, but you can´t smell the photos. Also, it´s a rare person who speaks English. For me it was ok because I can get along in Portuguese, but if you speak English or any other language, you will have a tough time. The restaurant lunch, dinner is good, but expensive. Breakfast is expensive and not so good.
Mercure Salvador Rio Vermelho Hotel | Hotel in Salvador | Travala.com
Hotel velho e barulhento.
