The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The hotel reception area was nice but the bedroom had been partially updated. The toilet and tiles were from the 80’s. The location was very good near to all sights
Ideally located
Ideally located to explore Nice
Average hotel
On the positive side hotel was central, short distance to tram from/to airport. Area is safe and quiet and we were allowed slightly early check in Room and bathroom were pretty small with very little space to move and although advertised as refurbished only some part were recently updated. Breakfast was adequate but would have been better to have a bit more variety over the days. We were disappointed to notice that the city tax which is charged separately was taken from credit card without any notice or receipt when we left. As a whole this is a 3 stars property and not 4 as advertised.
Nice, France
When we checked on I was informed my reservation was canceled, I never canceled my reservation, I had all documentation and the clerk didn’t know why. Fortunately, I was able to secure a room at the same rate. The breakfast was included, which was great. The hotel itself had a nice, comfortable vibe and the location was perfect.
The room was small but very comfortable and clean.
Everything about this hotel is great
Great place to stay
Great
The location is in walking distance of everything! Felt safe, had local amenities, clean and friendly
The rooms are not in a good condition. They need to be painted and are very dark. The hotel takes a deposit of 150 euros per room. I had two rooms and I’m still awaiting my 300 euros back despite not owing any money to the hotel. This was taken on 12th August. I checked out on the 16th and at the time of writing this review it is the 22nd August. Sort it out please - I would like my room deposits back.
Good option to stay close to everything
Excellent location. Very close to beach
Great
Good location. Staff was helpful . AC was good for a change.
Great location for promenade, restaurants and walking to old town
Great hotel Perfect situation and helpful staff
Great location. Really enjoyed the stay
The location was really good. U had access to everything.
Hotel location is great. Very walkable to all the main highlights in Nice. We were four women and felt very safe. Plenty of shopping and dining options close by. Walking distances were relatively short to all the attractions. However, when it came to the hotel itself could use major improvements. Rooms are outdated and old. Air condition is expected not to be the best in Europe, but we didn’t expect a musty old sewer water smelling room and an ac not working. We had two rooms which nicely they put us side by side, but one room was in no condition to be rented. After hours of requesting a room change and being told none were available we were given a second room which thankfully didn’t smell and ac was just ok. Rooms are dark in lighting almost so you can’t see the defects. Our room was on the 1st floor and our windows were locked with a chain and lock. For what is being charged a night would be nice to have rooms that are nice and upgraded just a slight.
Clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, and a great roof top bar. Also very good location for getting to anywhere in Nice.
Centrally located for beach, restaurants and shopping. Pleasant, clean rooms with comfortable beds, good cupboard space, useful small fridge - but questionable wall art! Helpful and friendly staff, decent buffet breakfast, and don't miss the rooftop bar.
The rooms were drab and had a smell. A 3 star not 4. Reception area nice and clean. Room not clean found broken glass from previous guests.
We had a very comfortable room and nice clean bathroom with lovely shower. The hotel is ideally located. Easy walking distance to beach, Old Town, train station, tram and shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
Good breakfast food
Excellent facilities and very hepful staff. Wild thorougjly recommend this to my friends.
Clean and friendly staff
Been coming here many years but it has definitely gone down hill. The location is what brings us back. The breakfast used to be better than it is, there is limited cooked breakfast…it was disappointing. Our room this year was in need of updating, there was nowhere to get ready and dry your hair. The lighting, mirrors and plugs are terrible!! Most of the staff are amazing and although the hotel isn’t the best, the staff and location make up for it. However, I think there are better hotels for the same, if not less money.
Overall, a very good hotel with friendly/helpful staff. The breakfast buffet has a good amount of choice, the food is fresh and it's worth the money. The rooms are not huge but are clean and comfortable. There is a supermarket next door. That's handy but it has noisy early morning deliveries, so avoid room 222 (which we had for one night before moving) and presumably 322 and 422.
Highly recommend. Few blocks from board walk. Grocery store around the corner. Spacious room. Close to major shopping mall too. Would come back!
Wry pleasant stay. Air con a little noisy, but otherwise great.
Good hotel but needs a few tips
Hotels.com mentioned a swimming pool and the photos showed a beach view but that is for another Mercure in Nice. This one is a bit further from the beach! It's still a nice hotel and it has good sized rooms, A/C and free filtered water for guests. We didn't pay for breakfast and there was an open plan kitchen in the hotel reception area but for some reason we weren't allowed to use it. Seems weird to have it so open and not be able to use the equipment. Our body soap was taken on the second to last day by the cleaner and not replaced. And the water jugs that you can fill in reception are not collected by the cleaners either? Strange not to not tidy those away. We kept forgetting to bring them downstairs but dishes aren't something I want to think about on my holidays. Overall it is a nice hotel and there is a new rooftop bar that opens at 6pm. You get a good sized fridge in your room and a safe too, wardrobe and shelves for your stuff.
Pænt hotel med god beliggenhed.
Pænt hotel med rigtig god beliggenhed, tæt på strand og bymidte. Pæn og moderne loungeområde. Værelserne er små, sengene store, lille badeværelse, alt i alt lidt trangt. Rigtig god service.
Perfect location for enjoying Nice and the wider Cote D'azur area.
During our stay our bedlinen was changed and my MP3 player, which I had left on top of the bed, was accidentality sent to the laundry. I do not blame anyone for this accident. I left my details so that it could be returned if it was found. I emailed the hotel twice in order to get an update. My emails went unanswered and it was not until I contacted Expedia that I received a response. I was surprised to learn that the hotel blamed me for the loss because I had left it on top of the bed and I had not reported it missing until the following day. (I didn’t immediately notice it was missing.) Finally, I was wrongly accused of suggesting that the hotel staff were untrustworthy. My request for a small contribution towards the cost of a new MP3 player was ignored. The hotel was completely dismissive of my loss.
The hotel was clean the staff were helpful and friendly he location was convenient for restaurants the tram and beach.
Fabulous location, 5 mins from trams, 2 mins to beach, pedestrian shopping area, and local eateries
Viikonloppuloma
Hotellin sijainti on loistava. Huone ja yleiset tilat ovat siistit ja puhtaat. Huoneen sisustus kaipaisi päivittämistä. Sänky on kova. Monipuolinen aamupala. Hyvä ja ystävällinen palvelu.
This is a good hotel, well situated in a quiet neighbourhood but close to the beach, shopping areas and a choice of restaurants. The room was small but relatively comfortable and overall this hotel is an excellent base for exploring Nice.
Fantastic location but the bed was way too hard!
The breakfast buffet is delicious! Good variety and great staples. Delicious French food. The Madeleines were my favorite! The rooms are not sound proof, so I hope you are not a light sleeper. Great blackout drapes, but I could hear coughing or movement in the rooms below and above, and the garbage truck outside (even though I was on the third floor). Overall, it was a good choice for my son and me. Thank you Mercure Nice Centre Grimaldi. We shall return!
It was nice and clean . Breakfast was very nice , loved the waffles and bacon particularly. It was close to the train station and a perfect spot for site seeing .
Have stayed before and will stay again, cozy comfortable lovely staff each and everyone of them great bedroom and i loved the big shower head fab also liked the spooky headboard thanks to all of you xx
We booked 3 rooms for two nights - 1 classic and 2 premium. At checkin, the lady tried to tell me she upgraded me from classic on two of the rooms because I am Expedia Gold. When I told her I booked and paid for 2 premiums and a classic she said she can't upgrade the classic to premium because they are overbooked. It was extremely disappointing as we are Gold members entitled to at least one upgrade when available and also the 1 classic and 1 premium rooms were having birthdays exactly on the day of the checkin. We normally would have expected at least a glass of wine per room (if not a bottle) for the event, and at least one of the rooms to be upgraded. Instead, we got NOTHING and our "premium" was a mansarde /attic small, dark , cramped room, with dump "everything" ( carpets, linen, towels) which smelled terribly. There was a very nice young guy at the reception, which helped us with vases for flowers we bought, etc, but nothing more. In all, a very poor experience and the hotel is in dire need of renovation and updating, as their towels are almost transparent from overuse and their carpets were last changed probably 10 years ago. We didn't try their breakfast because it costed 19eur/person/day - when one could have walked and got fresh coffee and a croissant for a 3rd of the money -, but the other two rooms ate there as they had children, and they didn't find the pastry in the 2 days they ate, and the breakfast choices were just basic. Expedia starts to dissapoint!
It works :)
Favorite place out of our 2.5 week vacation.
We fell in love with Nice. This hotel is clean and a great location to everything we will be back.
I’ve stayed at this hotel for 7 nights and have a good experience in Nice. The staff are friendly and the room is old but clean. The hotel is connected to alleys with many restaurants, and very close to the beach. I hope I visit here again.
.
Location was perfect
A great stay
We had a great stay at this hotel. The hotel is clean with a modern lobby and in a fantastic location; only a minutes walk from bustling streets but the hotel was lovely and quiet. The rooms were fairly basic but everything you might need (ask for an iron from the front desk!). The staff were on hand to answer any questions we had and were more than happy to help. We knew the clown would be there as they were on the images - please change this when you next decorate!! Overall, would recommend and stay here again next time we are in Nice. Thank you!
Disappointing stay.
Location was the only good thing…the rest was disappointing. Noisy in the rooms and outside on the street, room did not smell good. Very small and cramped room and bathroom and cleanliness not up to standards, the price was equivalent to a five star while it felt 2 star. Not a good experience for the price!
Has different options for room sizes and hotel was within walking to shops, restaurants, and beach.
5 stars
Excellent experience here, we used a wheelchair accessible room which was perfect, bathroom was a wet room with grab rails for support. Cant fault it and very disability friendly. Only points that could have been better was the air conditioning in the rooms was not very cold and paper cups for coffee/tea. Proper cups would have been much better. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Would definitely stay again.
Not worth the price
This is not 4 star hotel. This is more like old dorms for students . The only good thing is a location.
It was an ok experience. Front desk was ok. Not overly warm or welcoming. The night shift person was much nicer
Hotel was clean and in a good distance from the beach, only 5 mins walk. Free wifi available. Room aircon was an issue as it was not cooling the room. Also there were some maintenance issues with the room. Breakfast basic
Location is really good as it is 5 mins walk from the beach. Free wifi. I had privilege room which had a huge bed.
Fantastic location, 10 mins walk from train station, less than 5 mins walk from tram, 2 mins from main shopping street, 3/4 mins to promenade. Ideal location and staff were fantastic. Highly recommend for your stay.
Clean, friendly, convenient, good food, tasteful decoration,
Quiet, very little road/traffic noise. Fabulous location for Promenade, shops, tram stops, and notable things to see.
its lovely property in a great place near everything. staff were very helpful
Far enough and close enough to everything.
My wife and I were holidaying with another couple who had stayed here before. It has a great location and is quite central to where you want to be. Close to the old town, and the train station for the inevitable Monaco excursion and in walking distance of the marina; although a stop at the market could be required for a local refreshment. The hotel is very nice and clean. We didn't book with breakfast but we did breakfast there one morning and the choice was excellent. The roof terrace is a great space especially when the sun is shining and you take a drink up there with you. I would definitely stay here again.
wasnt 4 star quality
it was okay, uncomfortable bed, flat pillows, small rooms. Loud heaters? Also, sometimes the cleaning people didnt do their job, keaving dirty towles or leaving the room slightly messy
The breakfasts
Clanking water pipes at night on the 6th floor
there is a lot better
it was graet
Great location and staff
Location,price,staff.
I cant quite believe that this hotel has a 4 star rating. Perhaps those responsible for rating only looled in the lobby and perhaps a selevted modernised room. The hotel has a really nice lobby area but thats it. The room that i stayed in was extremely basic. Very cheap and old decor. This is like student accomodation. It would be no more than a 2 star in uk Perhaps some rooms have been renovated to the standard of the lobby but mine wasnt and the elevator and the floor which i was on all seemed a bit shabby. Im moving to another mecure in nice which i know is more modern.
Nice Central Hotel in heart of city
Nice Hotel in a perfect place in city center
Very good place in an amazing location! Our AC didn’t work the first day so they moved us into another room and it worked well. Great place. Highly recommended.
Nice
We enjoyed our stay at Mercure Nice Centre Grimaldi, the location is great for all your holiday requirements
Great location, reasonable value central hotel
In an 8 day working trip, two nights were spent at this hotel. They were my most high cost stay and also my most disappointing. I dislike hotels who sting you with a £50 deposit, regardless, just in case you buy anything there. In this day & age it is unnecessary. My bedroom was quite small though immaculately clean & with a lovely showroom. That was it’s crowning glory. My bedroom had blackout curtains covering a nondescript view. That was fine. The bed sheets were silky smooth. I thought I would sleep well. Instead, the sound proofing is such that it felt as if I was sleeping with 10 other occupants in my room. Every conversation heard. Every turn of the tap. Every visit to the toilet. It gets wearing after a while. And makes you feel you can’t relax in case others are also hearing every move you make. The location is excellent. That is a plus factor. But overall, I regret this stay. There is greater comfort & privacy to be found elsewhere. And several days on, I’m still waiting for my deposit to be released. Oh and that hideous clown above my bed! What’s that all about?
Le tapis mériterait d’être changé ou à tout le moins lavé. La chambre est un peu exiguë mais l’hôtel est vraiment très bien situé et le service est courtois
excellent staff- always helpful & friendly. Only issue was difficulty in recharging cellphone- no US converters were available.
Excellent nice hotel perfect for exploring the historic centre of Nice
A short walk to the beach and friendly staff, but the real plus is the rooftop patio.
The room was very small and good for one person, but would be a squash for two people. The staff were not very attentive, often talking to each other and rarely said hello or goodbye when I arrived or left. Walls were very thin so I could hear loud water gushing everytime someone flushed the toilet, which woke me up several times. I would not stay here again or recommend. It was a decent location and fine in the daytime, so thats why its an average score.
Property was in an excellent location, on a quiet street but minutes from the beach and all the restaurants and shopping. Room was nice and clean, bed was comfortable but the shower was just ok.
An amazing stay at this small hotel. We were upgraded
Good but...
This is not of the standard you would expect of a Mercure hotel. The public areas and staff were great and I’d say that overall it is good value for money. However, the rooms are awful. I stayed in a ‘privilege’ room so I dread to think what the others must be like. The decor is terrible, the carpet needed replacing and what’s with the air-conditioning? There is a settings-dial in the room that does absolutely nothing. I asked at reception how I could lower the temperature in the room and you could tell how awkward they felt just trying to answer me. The Med has just experienced record temperatures. It got so hot one night that at 2am I got up and went to sit in reception (where the a/c works) and I wasn’t the only person who had that idea! The other negative would be the towels. I don’t think I’ve paid attention to hotel towels before but it was hard not to in this case. They’ve got to be the thinnest towels I’ve seen. I asked the cleaner if they had any proper towels and she replied with ‘No, everyone complains about them but they won’t buy new ones.’ The positives of this hotel are the location and the rooftop terrace. It’s a 60 second walk from the station with a direct route to the airport, it’s close to everything you’d want to see and it’s in a quiet street. There’s also a great supermarket next door and some lovely restaurants, coffee shops and bars across the road. The terrace on the roof is great. Lovely and peaceful. Perfect for sunbathing etc.
Overall the hotel is tired and in need of a refresh. The roof top is a joke, rooms are small and the breakfast is below average. The only redeeming feature is the location.
Great location, 10 minutes stroll to the old town and the beach front
Location. Location. Location.mnnhhgvgghuuygfdvbhhgggv
room was very clean ,friendly staff. Bad cared-neglected roof top for like evening sitting :not clean ,not protected from sun ,no vending machine.
Would have liked a pool, or even a hot tub on roof terrace. Location was excellent
Bogus company
This company left us wandering around Cannes France, on a Saturday during Cannes Film Festival...trying to locate them. Couldn't find the office (it was a room on a yacht in the harbor), and they didn't answer their phone, or e-mails. Hotels.com saved the day - booked us another hotel nearby in Nice. Hopefully they are out of business.... do not book with them. This was incredibly stressful, to say the least!
3 STAR NOT 4 STAR
The hotel is not 4 star. The toiletries in room are only a bar of soap and a bottle of cheap liquid soap and a hand held shower head.No maned bar or coffee in the evening and quite often no reception person at desk. Bedroom was fine and bedroom cleaning staff were very good
Room bit small, but clean and well kept. Good bathroom with plenty of hot water.
Recommended
Great location and so clean Only internet is slow
Disappointed by rooms
The pictures are slightly deceiving, expected the room to look better than it actually looked in person, the lighting was horrible. Location was great though
Nice location great hotel... Everything was fine... Thank You all...
Reasonably priced, modern facilities, very clean. Excellent situation easy walk to promenade, market, old town, port or the shops if necessary. It is our second stay at this hotel.
Great location. Breakfast very good. Rooms required some maintenance
Great, quiet, central location with 5 minute walk to beach / promenade, 10 minute walk to Old Town, one minute walk to numerous Messina dining options and reasonable / well stocked market. Catch #98 bus from airport terminal (6 euro) or #400 bus outside terminal (1.5 euro) with five minute walk to hotel or 36 euro via taxi. Clean, modern, comfortable room with 50” plus flat screen TV, safe, mini-fridge and rain shower. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed 10 night stay and would definitely return
Clean hotel with a nice lobby . However room was very small but very well maintained . Short staffed and staff were not really helpful . Excellent location with walking distances to promenade and public transport
Vary clean hotel However v small room and staff not very helpful
Beauiful location staff excellant food great rooms adequit plenty of restaurants to choce from.
