Fair resort for what we paid at the peak time of the year. Needs more staff. Property needs a bit of a refresh. Definitely needs more chairs by pool and beach -big problem. Two family members got food poisoning. Wiped out a few days of a trip we were looking forward to for a year. Attention to detail in the kitchen is of paramount importance. Management needs to get focused on this.
I thought the resort was just okay. The service was flat out poor. We had to request an umbrella for the room five times over three days until it was finally delivered. Getting new towels for the pool or exchanging used ones for clean ones was almost impossible. Staff could care less. The food at the buffet was decidedly average and the service was terrible. You have to ask for utensils several times before they are provided. Same goes for coffee and salt/sugar/creamer. The little golf carts that shuttle you around the resort rarely appear, and when they do, they're full. Room keys constantly stop working. Refrigerators in rooms barely cool what's inside. Lastly, prepare to be harassed non-stop by people selling all kinds of stuff at the beach.

The resort looks good from the outside but it's a bit old.....the rooms need upgrading and better furnishings.
Our stay at Melia was good to great. What we liked about this hotel was the beautiful gardens and landscaping. There were several peacocks and other birds fun to watch, turtles and fish in the ponds. We appreciate that we and our friends got the rooms near the beach( thanks to the courteous and helpful staff ), I advise that you make sure to book your room on the beach side. The food was good, but sometimes some of it needed to be cooked better and some wasn't fresh, otherwise there was a good variety of choices, some international foods. We loved the fruits, cakes and ice cream. Loved the Tauro restaurant . Very inconvenient that we could make reservations for restaurants only on Sunday. We liked the beach and the water, the waves were not as big as at other locations and hotels, so it was a pleasure to play and swim. The pool was great ! The vendors are so annoying, we think they should be given access to the beach only a couple of hours. The same vendors were marching many times by, asking to sell something many times per day, it's ridiculous, we couldn't enjoy the beach and peace because of numerous vendors. What we didn't like about the hotel was that the vent in our bathroom didn't work, we complained 2x and they said they'll fix it and never fixed it in 10 days of our stay. Our friends complained about their phone and safe not working, never fixed it. I wish the hotel had an open buffet near beach like at other hotels instead the Bazar. Loud music at night.

First time in D.R. our concierge Alam M. went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable in his country. He took care of our reservations for dinner, linen, activities around the resort...i can go on and on. We needed for nothing. Drinks were strong, food was great. Service from everyone was beyond belief. Everyone was so attentive. From the moment we hit the lobby, we felt like family from out of town. A different show every night and something to do. Plenty of bars and restaurants for all tastes. Fresh fruits and juices. Variety of alcohol...i mean huge selection! Only negative I have (no fault of the resort) when at the beach, you get BOMBARDED with independent salesmen. All workers of the resort were kind and helpful. Thanks to Alam with all his help and great upbeat attitude, my family of 9 had such a great time

This resort had horrible food and no labels on what is what god forbid your allergic to anything you won’t know until you try . My room was dirty and the back where my porch was the door had a crack where mosquitoes were coming in. My towels were dirty it was just very unpleasant. The only thing I appreciated was my concierge she was amazing Daniella I was there for my cousins 40 bday and we arrived Thursday night starving and tired so we really didn’t get to schedule any dinners with her the first two nights. She was very persistent and made sure she did what she could for us got us towels and the first night we complained about the fridge everything was hot in there they didn’t do anything….but Daniella wanted to make sure we enjoyed the best we could and reserved a nice reservation for sat night and we enjoyed that in the Mexican restaurant. Then we left Sunday.

It's a beautiful place, food and very helpful staff. We dined at the Hokkaido restaurant and found it very interesting to experience Asian cuisine. Yhi Spa is the most beautiful place in the hotel.
First time at this beautiful hotel, the gardens are amazing, and the staff is very friendly. We had some issues making the reservation because they had many guests staying on our dates, but everything else was excellent.

The resort itself is well-maintained, the staff are friendly, and the surrounding nature is beautiful. However, I expected more from the overall experience. It’s a shame that poor management decisions left such a sour impression. Unfortunately, those days of relaxation and fun were partly spoiled by the poor management of the resort. In my opinion, this stems from their policy of mixing guests with different levels of access and privileges (what they call The Level, you're marked with your category by the color of your wristband). The classification system feels like cattle branding; in this case, they don’t burn you—they tag you with a little wristband in the color that defines your category. The resort’s website is overly simplistic and fails to provide essential information. It’s impossible to find menus or restaurant schedules, and online reservations are not an option. Instead, guests must meet with a staff member who handles reservations during limited hours. There’s also no mobile-friendly map of the resort available, leaving guests feeling lost. When seeking help, the employees—while polite—are often unable to provide clear answers. Reception staff frequently give vague responses or defer to the manager.
Why you give me a statement with zero balance than turn around and charge me extra? This is number one. Stakes are raw, uncoocked and impossible to chew in stakehose. Nobody wanted to give us a ride unless we ask at the lobby. Drinks are very low in alcohol. Lady at a guest service just said she does not have time to help us and walked away what !!! Guest service does not have time to help unbelievable!!

Kidsdom was an absolute hit with the little ones! It’s a wonderful space filled with fun, engaging activities that kept the kids entertained for hours. Awesome, clean gardens with plenty of activities like yoga, step, dance classes etc. Great time there. Also very nice pool at the splash park, super friendly bartenders. Entertiment team was very helpfull.

AWESOME! Came to Hokkaido for dinner on our last night at Melia Caribe Beach and I have to say, Jairo and Jhovani made it the most absolute perfect experience. They ooze charisma and humor, which made for a delicious and entertaining atmosphere. We ordered The steak option over the lobster and my wife and I got a full ribeye each which I do personally feel is unheard of if you went to any other resort. The Fried rice and vegetable portions were typical of what you would find at an American establishment, which means they were very healthy portions, and the alcohol was flowing, which always adds to the atmosphere. Thank you to Melia and to Jairo and Jhovani. We can’t wait to come back! YEAH BABY!
It would be hard to find something to complain about. Our stay was wonderful. We even booked one more week because we enjoyed ourselves so much. Love it here ♥️!!

The property was great for relaxation. Lots of green spaces, private alcoves, and the dining options were varied and interesting.
Stuff was rude, room was so far from the lobby and trains doesn’t take you from and to your room! Buffet near the pool was dirty! If you wana come here do not book via Expedia!
Service and resort cleanliness were not to the standard of a 5-star resort they claim to be. Avoid and go to a neighboring property.

We were hoping for an experience where basic amenities were provided. We didn't have hot water, the tv and phone were both broken, and we had to remove our shoes/carry our children and luggage through 6 inches of standing water upon arrival to get to our room. All the literature told us we would be able to be in our room by 3pm, but we didn't get into our room until 5pm. We were traveling with young children and this was a real pain point. We were also given no time estimate for when we should expect to have access to our room. We have 1 year old twins and had to beg to have two cribs. I told the resort a few weeks in advance that we would need two. I was told it was first come, first serve and when we arrived, we were told more than once they could only get us one. We did get two after repeating this request. We ended up upgrading to Level so we could have the same access as the rest of our family. Switching rooms took the entire day. We were told from the point that we upgraded at the counter, that we had access to everything that Level included. Our first night, it was pouring rain and we would have needed to wait in standing water/pouring rain for 15 minutes for a tram (I was originally told to call for a golf cart to take us to dinner but then they said that was unavailable). We ordered room service which should have been included. They refused to remove the $10 charge at checkout. Staff is overall very nice, the resort itself was beautiful, but I wish we hadn't come.

The food was amazing! We came here with my wife and my 2 year old son. We ordered the chicken chimichanga and steak burrito they were amazing ! Frailin, Perfecto and Ramon Soso were amazing and gave us a great experience! We came here for my birthday. Thank you again!

We had an amazing time at Meliá Caribe Beach Resort! The resort is beautiful, with beauty gardens, a stunning beach, and fantastic pools. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent, with plenty of options at the buffet and great specialty restaurants. The yhi spa were amazing experience and we had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying everything the resort had to offer. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway!

The best part of this resort is by far, the staff. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, especially the concierge attendant. I recommend upgrading to the "Level" experience for this benefit. The concierge will go out of their way to make sure your experience is unique and amazing. (Shout out to Alam) The grounds and pool are beautiful and the beach is a short walk from the rooms. The swim up bars are where you might spend most of your time making new friends. There is also a 'train' that will take you to the further parts of the resort, where you will find some of the restaurants and the casino, etc. We will be planning our third trip to the same resort very soon.

Our room keys never worked, we could never get a restaurant reservation for dinner, the transportation service is not reliable but you have to take it if your room is by the beach & sneaky employees were trying to take advantage and charge us things in cash in order to pocket the money. Very shady.

Stayed for 6 days to celebrate a birthday with a group of 20 people about two weeks ago. They accommodated us by putting all our rooms in the same area. A special shout out to our Expedia Concierge Kilvania V. who was awesome. She took care of our reservations, kept us up to date on what the hotel activities were and helped us celebrate the special birthday. She was always in touch with us and all the staff at the hotel were very nice. Would definitely recommend.
The property grounds were very nice. With that being said the property ground is large and everything is spread out making it inconvenient to walk everywhere in the heat during a vacation. My wife and I were upgraded to the family beachfront suite, which was nice but you’re super far from the lobby, casino, bar area, and shows that’s open until 3am. They do provide ride via golf carts, trollies, but they are very hard to catch one. They need more transportation and faster wait times to make the experience more enjoyable. The staff overall were friendly and took good care of the facilities. They need to do a better job communicating with guests all that this resort has to offer. Also booking dinners need to be easier. The concierge was ok but you had to keep asking for reservations etc. All in all if you’re looking for a good time I think it’s a good place. If you’re looking for a place to cater to your needs and make things easy and stress free this might not be for you.

I recently stayed at the Melia Caribe Resort in Punta Cana, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience overall. Arrival and Check-In: Upon arrival, we quickly learned that the resort often reduces rates for local guests on weekends, resulting in overcrowding. This made it difficult to enjoy the facilities, with long wait times for seating in dining areas and a frustrating lack of utensils. Room Experience: My family of four was assigned a room with just one full-size bed and one twin bed. Despite notifying guest services immediately, we didn’t receive a rollaway bed until 1 AM, leaving our exhausted kids to sleep on chairs. The tight sleeping arrangements were less than ideal for a family vacation. HVAC Issues: We also faced HVAC problems multiple nights, forcing us to sleep in a stuffy, hot room until maintenance could address the issue. This added to our overall discomfort during the stay. Amenities and Services: The influx of guests on weekends made it impossible to enjoy the resort’s amenities. We spent significant time waiting for maintenance to resolve issues, including a stuck safe, rather than relaxing and enjoying our vacation. Midweek Experience: From Monday to Thursday, the resort was much more enjoyable, and we were able to have a good time. However, by Friday noon, a new wave of guests arrived, leading to another loss of the enjoyable atmosphere we had experienced earlier in the week. Conclusion: I wouldn’t recommend this resort.

Meliá Caribe provides family enjoyment
The Level quality of service was very good. Appreciated access to private pools & dining. Overall the food quality was medium. The fresh fruit was really good but other meals, ala carte & buffet, while providing choice could have been better. Perfect location for grandkids to play safely. Only other concern was the very loud music playing at the main centre from around 9:30-midnight. Made sleep almost impossible until it ended as our villa in block 47 was close to the event. Had read other reviews commenting on the same issue.
This property moves at a very slow paste. Not much to do. I would say this is for people, 50 and over.
