Staff were very friendly and the property is quite unique - nestled inside a national park. On the grounds there are ruins of old french vacation homes and other facilities from the 1930's, 40's and 50's which can be walked to and explored. Very unique experience and these particular sites are not available to those who are not guests at Melia. (There are some other historic sites on other parts of the mountain). It is a relaxing getaway as well!
The hotel is inside the Ba Vi National Park, it is very tranquil, the hotel area has excellent control on mosquitoes, pool and gymn have excellent view of the forest. Hospitality by Melia staff are exceptional, going above and beyond their duty to cater for our demands!!! Making it most relaxing stay.
The facilities are amazing. The Vietnamese food is not as good as what can be found in Hanoi and lacks vegetarian options. The spa is great.
Very pleasant stay, highly recommended and would definitely stay again.
Melia Ba Vi is overall a great destination to get away from the hectic city life. Well-designed and clean suit, comfortable bed and pillows, good amenities, good size balcony with a nice view over the tree tops. Attentive staff members who remember you by your first name. Nice touch with the extras such as afternoon tea and cocktail evening before dinner. The retreat is set on top of a mountain range and in the middle of a beautiful forrest. We really enjoyed the long walks and see the ruins from French colonial time. The only negative thing was that the security guys at the entrance/carpark were neither as friendly nor professional as the staff inside the hotel.

Very eco-friendly. Quiet(from people) and could enjoy the sent of trees and mountain. Great place to heal by getting out of city center.
There are wonderful places. I statyed my
Didn’t like the shower area. Water is not contain within the shower area. The entire area gets wet and the floor becomes slippery which is dangerous if you are not careful.
Average service & options
Not much to do at the resort even though it is a retreat resort. Not many F&B options. Ever single activities are chargeable ie bike cycle and using of buggie.
Beware of scam attempts
This place is really beautiful and the facilities are great, especially the heated pool. We actually enjoyed our stay; which is why it pains me so much how it ended. The staff was trying to basically scam us. We were checking out really early. We booked our taxi to the airport days before, and the receptionist told us it will cost 700K VND. I gave them my credit card to cover the bill. Their card reader appeared to not work—and we’ve been traveling in south east Asia for 2 weeks by then and I used my credit card in every single hotel by then without a problem—they said their Internet connection was bad. It was taking so long that we were afraid we will miss our flight, so I left them my credit card information. We were in the taxi when the reception called me and asked to withdraw the amount in cash and give it to the driver (!) –and it was a little over 6 million VND. Ok, fine, we did that. We stopped at an ATM in the middle of the night. I just gave the driver 7 million VND for the hotel and forfeited the change. We gave the driver 700,000 VND as well for the taxi. When back in NYC I got the email when the hotel claimed we I’ve them still over 2 million VND, and that they paid for the taxi (a total lie). I had the receipt which was printed after they checked the minibar and everything, and obviously we didn’t add anything to it after checking out at 4am. Do not fall for the credit card reader trick and give them cash! They will try to geT more money out of you! Outrageous
GOOD- House keeping was great. I had a big spider in my room and a little old lady came and took it away. Very secluded and quiet, great for a get away from all the noise. Rooms and view was beautiful. BAD- Communication was very hard because alot of the staff dont speak english. Liquor choices are very limited and for some bottles, you have to buy the whole bottle to drink it. Food was very expensive but flavor was very bland. Need more variety on the menu. How are you in vietnam and not have a vietnamese menu on the weekdays???? You get a very limited vietnamese menu on the weekend. Smh😫. The resort also has no gift shop or any shop. I needed a sandal and also needed some allergy medicine and there was none to be found. The only way was to get a taxi and go down to town which cost about 500,000 vnd which equals to about 20 usd. Also, you have to pay a ticket fee to go back up to the mountain resort, which cost about 200,000 vnd.
Everything was excellent. Very nice experience and wonderfull staff!!!
The Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat is located in a heavenly national park. The grounds are spectacular! However, the room could be cleaner as I don't expect a dusty room in a resort. The resort has excellent service. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The Yhi Spa was sooooo good. The masseuse manage to press every spot the way I liked it to be. Senses serve excellent food. The lounge was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I highly recommend their Vietnamese coffee.
Food is not suitable for occidental people, we though that being a Melia would gace us certain about food, but breakfast was lack of cheese coffee was not right, pastry also was not ok. As the hotel is very far away from everything you finish having all meals insiide and the menu is very short regarding occidental dishes and the ones in the menu are not ok. Reaching hotel is far and at night seems to be dangerous beacuse of the placing in the mountains, hoyel us very beatifull.

Mixed feelings about Ba Vie
The property/ buildings are well kept in a lush environment. The rooms are large and nicely done. Breakfast was quite good. As it was off season and there were few guests they ran out of croissants early. This is the down side of this place. It lacks a generosity in hospitality. You pay for the Nespresso capsule in your room in the morning, you have 2 bottles of water at your disposition and if you need more you either walk to the reception for a refill or pay for a new bottle. It is a resort in nowhere land with little to do except relax. If I was the manager I would pamper my guests with a little treat here or there to make up for a lack of possible activities. This place works as a get away from busy Hanoi, I would not recommend it for European or American Vietnam travelers.

Very very bad experience. My booking was cancelled even though i have received confirmation from expedia and payment has been made. The staff claim that the cancellatiob is due to non payment and they are unwilling to contact expedia and we got to sort out the issues ourselves despite us showing evidence that payment has been made. We got to make a long distance call to expedia and like usual, they will put you on hold. After back and forth for almost 2 hours. The issue is rectified with the agent making payment at the very last min. The staff at the hotel recommended that we should book directly with the hotel in the future. Dont think i will ever come back here again
