We had an amazing experience and we were very sad to leave the resort. The staff is incredible! They are always very helpful, smiling and professional. A big thank you to the all restaurant team for their service the food was always delicious. We stayed 9 nights and they cleaned out the room every single day and changed our towels and beach towels daily. Our house (171) was in a perfect spot to swim and tw water was beautiful. Overall we would highly recommend the resort the only advice is to improve the wifi (even though it's perfect to switch off completely so you don't have distractions). Once again big thank you to the whole staff!
Lovely stay here. But zero management. The buffet restaurant was good and well managed and the staff were all lovely. The facilities were unkept and in need of major repair. Splintery unsafe decking around the pool with loose wooden boards with rusty nails poking out. A bit shabby to be honest. The sea grass in the sea all around the island prohibited swimming. Needs an urgent repair overhaul but we enjoyed our time there. The diving was excellent with very nice and professional staff, and the mantarays were obliging. My husband fell through the floorboards around the pool area and has a major bruise on his leg. No recompense whatsoever from the management. Could have been really bad. The manageress was great but powerless to do make any changes. We enjoyed our stay but we will not return to this resort. We are old hands at the Maldives and there are definitely better atolls to book.
needs some maintenance and also drinks in all inclusive are a joke
We were given a beach villa for 4 persons in the south east of the island and it was amazing: very spacious, wonderful beach, great seaside, 5mins walk from restaurant and bar. The room was extremely clean, everything was in working order (ac, tv, kettle, fan). Wifi speed in the room was poor (~1 Mbps), only sufficient for messaging and emails, but one doesn’t come here to work. The free boat trips to the coral reef were great, the crew was extremely pleasant. Same for the line fishing excursions. The only excursion we didn’t like was the island hopping tour: no effort was made to make us like the islands we visited. We were shown the dumpsters twice, everyone was extremely puzzled by the choices of our guide. After this “trash tour” we were left wandering around aimlessly for half an hour. We went for half board and were extremely pleased with the breakfast and dinner buffet: there is sufficient variety to not get bored if you stay for 1 week. We ate our lunches at Velu bar / Al fresco restaurant. Service was a bit slow at times, but food and drinks were excellent. Plus the view from the restaurant is great. The drinks are often discounted (happy hour). Overall the staff was helpful and gentle. There is a bit of language barrier but with a little of patience communication is not a problem.
Chami and Sujet were amazing help during our stay. I wished they had more control over our experiences during our stay. We pre-ordered champagne as part of our honeymoon for our over water villa stay. It was old, and seemed like it was opened before/expired. The villa itself was dirty, and unsecure due to the locks being busted from the back door and unchanged. Our first meal was the best, but after rhat it was evident that every meal was only frwshly prepared eith unfresh ingredients. Omlettes were our main choice. Staff seemed to be snappy with our requests. For room service, a drink was spilled on delivery. We were told not to request anothe drink as it would "get him in trouble" . We needed a 2 minute misunderstood phone call explaining why we needed a new drink, because it wasnt reported. We got a new villa, but it was plagued by with bugs, and the staff would not collect the used plates, even when requested, leading to various creatures in our room during our stay. Food wasnt great Drinks were subpar Ambiance felt like work( everyone fake wanting to be there) Views were great tho Overpriced for the product presented I believe this site needs an overhaul Asian cultural night was absolutely amazing.
We stayed on a water bungalow from December 25-31, 2024. The staff was amazing from the second we arrived in Male` to the time we arrived back in Male`! The water bungalow was very nice and amazing to just sit on the deck and watch all the sea life go by. We Would communicate with the other water bungalow visitors to give each other a heads up when sea life was going by and what direction they were heading. It was very enjoyable interacting with the other people in the bungalows was a good way to meet them. I would like to give a huge thank you to all the staff specifically; Ali- who took care of our bungalow and us throughout our stay, he was the best and kindest person and was just amazing!! Made our stay special ! Sajjet- who took care of us throughout our dining experience and even beyond that, he really helped make our stay special too! Fernando - the house keeping manager who was always available if we needed anything , although we never did do to great rooms and Ali being so fantastic. Fernando, you have a Great team and thanks for letting us know you are there for us! Kalam- he is the guy on the island who climbs the palm trees to get the fresh cocoanuts. I actually got a video of him going up and down cocoanut trees. Don- who works the area where the seaplanes and boats come in. I would go to that area and Don was such a pleasure to talk too! Wajeeth, Rajana and Yasin took care of us when going through the buffet area and answer any questions we had. Thank you!
I have a wonderful stay in the resort, the staff is very very nice.
Small little island, maybe not a 5 star amazing but still enjoyed every moment of it
Great resort. Friendly staff. Food could have been wider range with spicier options for the curries. 😊
Great staff. Lots of organised activities such as line fishing, snorkelling, diving, range of water sports, and night time events in the bar (like karaoke, DJ nights). Speedboat transfer 2.5 hours, seaplane 45 mins.
Good for the money
The staff are wonderful, excellent service and the food was really good with a good selection each day but the rooms need to be refurbished, stayed in the water bungalow and the deck, steps, doors, roof etc need to be replaced, looking very tatty. I'm sure this is reflected in the price as it was very reasonable i think for Maldives, would return once renewed. DO NOT TAKE THE SPEEDBOAT TRANSFER, 2.5 to 3 hours of hell. We spoke to a couple who crossed in the dark which must have been even worse, pay the extra for the water plane, its roughly an hour with a stop and the views are beautiful.
I went with my wife for our honeymoon for 2 weeks. We took a Watervilla that was amazing with a great view.. The food was amazing a lot was indian food but international options were available. The staff was super friendly, thumbs up for Jowel. If you can afford it take the seaplane it's more confortable, we took the boat for arrival and seaplane for departure. The boat was fun but it takes longer (2h30 hours) and you may feel the need to vomit, seaplane is smooth and fast (40 min). Highly recommend the stay.
Fast
Medhufushi is a very quiet and secluded resort but it is a place where anyone who comes can enjoy the food, activities, relaxing or many other options.
Staff friendly , clean and food excellent we recommend this hotel highly
Awesome place I really have fun
The place is good, if you want to pay for every basic amenity and even after paying for the full board you get the option to pay for drinks. Please take fresh clean dollar bills as they will examine them like a hawk for when you check out and pay for the invoice. Ask for extra bathroom essentials and they will hesitate to provide them. Overall a good expensive place which will provider services for a cost even though you have booked the all inclusive package.
The design of the property is excellent. There could be more utility shops inside. Its very well maintained . Staff is very good. The beaches at the back are so clean. On the downside, My room phone was not working throughout my stay. AC was not working on the first day. I had requested for a wheel chair which was not provided. But i had an excellent time in the resort.
The good: Staff, food, location. The not so good: Lots of maintenance required everywhere. It appears old, tired, worn out, uncared for. Considering the above lower prices for accommodations would be fitting. But I guess people keep filling the place up, so no decrease. I wonder how may people visit a second time. I would not.
This place needs lots of work they need to maintain the property and hire more Education people to work there no one seems to understand anything and we weren’t getting right information that we needed ..
The staff are very friendly and the resort manager went out of his way to make as feel at home
Service was tremendous! Food option was vast and very delicious.
Excellent Staff, Great food, very relaxing, amazing views and saw lots of species of fish.
Property is in delapidated state Even walls in reception area are peeling off and worn out. Ants -big and small - are running around inside rooms and even on dining table. Faucet is broken and missing a part in our vanity area. Overall dirty and uncomfortable. Everything is severely worn out-drapes, chairs are old and dated and not clean. This is a 2 star resort charging 4 star prices. Food is terrible both in quality and cooking. Considering we are paying close to $40 a meal we are eating worse than junk food. Not only food tastes bad, you cannot chew the meat. It is like hard frozen meat. Only good thing is Lynn who is the customer supervisor. She is extremely helpful and kind. Most of the staff are helpful and nice. Unfortunately the place and facilities are so bad.
Besides sea grass on the beach and in the sea, we enjoyed a lot our stay because of friendliness of the staff, excursions organized every day for free wonderful snorkeling and very nice swimming pool with view on the ocean.
I would recommend this hotel to a friend. Hotel staff is absolutely amazing. They were kind and hospitable every day and greeted us with a smile!! The rooms are good but should be maintained a bit more and should be updated soon. Food is super expensive so opt into the all inclusive plan. The water bungalows are nice but not worth the money. Lastly, go line fishing.
Great honeymoon stay
My husband and I just spent our honeymoon here and the staff was beyond amazing. We highly recommend the all inclusive, it came With two excursions and was well worth it. The food was good and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. Overall we had an amazing time and stay.
Wonderful Island Resort
We stayed for a week at Medhufushi Island Resort for our honeymoon and it was a fantastic experience. We stayed for half the week in the semi-detached beach house and the rest of the week in the beach villa. Both rooms were fantastic and offered their views and experiences. The island itself is very beautiful and being the only resort on the entire island, it felt that we had the entire island to ourselves. The staff were great, attentive but not intrusive. In the dining area we were attended by Ali Mahir who was great and after a couple of days, he became familiar with our regular drink orders and would have them ready at our table as soon as we entered the dining area. The food varied on a day to day basis and although it was a bit different in taste to what we are used to, it was generally pretty good. They have watersports and spa on the island as well. Would definitely recommend the waterbed and jet skiing with the Dolphins. Ask for Rosh who was wonderful and made sure we made the most of the activities. The excursions offered by the island are pretty good and though snorkelling is free, it would be good if they can provide the customers with a little more guidance on what to expect for those who haven't done this before. The island is far from Male and you have to travel via seaplane so to make it worth your while, best to have your stay for at-least 3 days. Overall a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend to other travellers as well.
old and dirty
very old rooms, nothing works... the beach is no where to be found and very dirty, nice food, the staff are trying their best but it's not enough. overall- doesn't worth the money.
Nice spot in the Maldives
We have been here twice. It is a good hotel on a beautiful island. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing even though sometimes kids can be annoying.
pass
nothing special
Medhufushi Island Resort trip
This was our first time staying at Medhufushi Island Resort . We stayed there for 5 nights in the Over Water Bungalow. The resort is beatiful and food was good. We did the haft board deal which includ breakfast and dinner. The resort provided free snokling tour which was a bonus and nightly entertainment at one of the bar restaurant. We were here in October so the weather was kind of raining on and off. But, over all we had the best time here. The staffs here are wonderful people.
Dirty piece of land - important!
Read this review of the island if you really want to know what's going on there. That unprofessional pack back on the island would always throw in how their island is a paradise when in fact you get a diariya from the food every single night - not the stuff paradises are made of! My wife and I got there for a honeymoon - to which we have been congragulated with a couple of joined twin beds!!! When asking to move to a new room they wanted us to stay at the same room for 2 out of 4 nights! After arguing we finally slept there for 1 night only :( After moving to our new room we where accused of drinking half the drinks at the minibar - by the room cleaner! After telling him we did not drink the drinks he argued with us - and he doesn't even know English.. He would just keep on saying: "there was drinks, there was drinks" No matter what we have told him. As some sort of a punishement he wouldn't feel the minibar. We went to the reception to clean our bill. At the last day we discovered that the room cleaner charged us again for the same drinks he did not feel on the first day!!! We were promissed that the room is cleaned twice a day and that towels are changed twice as well.. after arguing with the room cleaner on the first day he never came into our room for the secong time! We got half of what we have paid for! Overall stay wasn't really pleasent.. Constant feeling that you should pay the island more if you want to enjoy.. Fake smiles and lousy attractions to make you get bored quicker.. And if you've forgot to bring your own snorkel and mask with you?! Prepare to pay 10$ per day for it! As if you don't pay 300 of them already.. Diving costs are twice as they are normally are at any other place in the world - and if you think they will take tou to the best location you are wrong! You must wait until you dive a few times - no one will take you to the best diving spots before you pay everything they can take from you.. The beach is white but nothing too special.. Reaf's all dead and almost no fish. A real paradise is found on the other side of the Indian ocean - where the seychelles are (where we are pleasently continuing our honeymoon). Enjoy.
Beautiful! Get all inclusive package
Hotel and staff were amazing. Very laid back and relaxing. Not a place for kids. Make sure you book an all inclusive package. Food is Expensive in the maldives. My only complaint was the ocean water was dirty time to time but not just at our hotel, other areas were dirty too. Really sad to see trash in the water in a place so beautiful.
great stay but with some unpleasence
It is my second time in Maldives. Medhufushi resort is good. However, the room size is not so big, both water villa and beach villa. The yard is small and has no jaccuzi. Besides, it is a relative populous island with dense villas. There is no tennis court and only one swimming pool and one dinning hall. The swimming pool is not as good as the one I stayed last time and the dinning hall is crowded. I think the hotel just makes space for more room with many beach villas still empty and idle. The staff is very friendly and I saw a lot of fish very easily around, though there is no coral reefs around. The resort has free snorkeling trip every day except Wednesday. We went every time and it was great! We went to different places and the crew are very nice and helpful. The accompanied unskilled kids for snorkeling. The only unpleasantness is the reception employee, the one we went for checking out. He asked as several times for tips. When he found us change, he first gave us some dollars less. After we checked the amount, he gave us the rest reluctantly. Then he asked to see our home currency , trying for tips another time. I appreciate everything the staff do for us, but this person really only does print the receipt ,he does not deserve it.
The only downside was that there was no staff to receive us at Male airport for the transfer via seaplane. We needed to look out for ourselves and make our way around to locate the seaplane venue.
nice hotel with lovely room
i love this wood room facing the beach, you have lot of choice about the food and they change the type every day. the
Amazing Honeymoon
Amazing resorts at an affordable price.
Perfect Honeymoon Spot.
We stayed here for 10 days on our honeymoon. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful. We spent our days snorkelling, swimming, relaxing, and simply staring off our deck at the beautiful surrounds. It was a 40 minute seaplane ride to and from Male Airport, but I think that the seaplane ride was an experience in itself (bring earplugs, the engines can be a bit too noisy for some people.) We had a Water Villa, sunrise side, which in our opinion was much better, no glaring sun in the afternoon heat meant we could spent our afternoons comfortable on the deck. I would have been kicking myself if we'd gone all the way to paradise and not spent a little extra on the room. The buffet had a good selection, with some staples and always a new dish to try each night - Sri Lankan Egg Hoppers are my new favourite thing! We were half board, originally we thought we could get away with it but with dinner starting so late (730pm) and breakfast finishing at 945am, it was just too long a time to go without eating. All the same it was much nicer to order room service or stroll to the restaurant adjoining the Vilu Bar. Also cheaper than to pay to sit in the buffet for a 3rd time in a day. Read the information sheets they give you, there are some great free activities but the staff don't verbally advertise them, and if no one shows up they cancel. We very nearly missed out on crab racing because there was not enough people signed up - we went and grabbed people to join!
Dream Honeymoon
My wife's dream vacation was to stay in a tropical water villa, and Medhufushi did not disappoint at all. The island itself is small, and there are only around 200 total guest rooms, so you feel as if you are in your own tropical paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The water villas are amazing; nothing beats relaxing on the deck watching sea turtles, sting rays, and reef sharks swim past all day. The service staff are super friendly, most spoke perfect English, and they were very responsive. The food at the buffets was excellent, with constant variety at every dinner. It was really, really hard to come home.
Perfect island, nice beach , perfect staff
The island, staff, spa, water bunglows, watersports, diving and snorkeling are all perfect. Half board or full board prices are perfect. Variety of food. The food is regular 5 star open buffet. Highly recomended. Place for honeymoon
Beach villa
Nice beach cottage. The hotel staff was not as well trained as we expected. When we checked in, they apologized for no Wifi in the room but we were offered the option to purchase wifi in the public are which we did. It was agonizingly slow - .3 MB/sec. After almost a week, one of the employees offered us a SIM card for purchase. We did that and it was great. We felt like this should have been offered by the hotel but wasn't. We told the food and beverage manager about our dissatisfaction with the internet offered and then he told us about buying a SIM card. Why did they not offer this until we complained? We intended to kiteboard but when we inquired about it they said the person who does that was away for a month. Very disappointed about that. With limited activities, they should have that covered so it is available always. Price for diving was about three times what I usually pay at other dive resorts around the world. Prices for staples in the gift shop were very expensive. In one case, 5 times what we pay at home in the drug store for basics.
Amazing place!
I was staying for 5d 4n in medhufushi.. Nice place n lovely view from my water villa room! Nice staff n friendly. The foods here good n tasty! I would recommend to others and will come again! This so amazing with crystal clear water!! The room veru comfort and neat.
Excellent hotel for our first trip to Maldives
Staying in an over water bungalow we really loved our stay at Medhufushi and it proved to be an excellent choice for our first stay in the Maldives. The staff for breakfast and lunch were always very friendly and welcoming. We also had a chance meeting with Kevin the resort manager who was extremely friendly and chatted to me and my wife for around 30 minutes on random topics, turned out to be one of the most interesting people I have ever met.
The resort exceeded our expectations in every way. Travel to and from the island was meticulously organised. Our check in and check out was coordinated with our scheduled arrival and departure, both of which were outside the standard times. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the setting was just like in the postcards. I highly recommend this resort!
Nice hotel on an heavenly island
Very unique place with a professional and friendly team. The food was excellent.

Enjoyable family vacation
Ideal family vacation. Excellent service, good food ( lunch expensive on average $100 for a family of four). It is recommended that guests bring their own snorkeling and diving gear as the rentals are very expensive. Similarly Wi fi and seaplane transfers very very expensive. ( factor in the costs of seaplane transfer when choosing hotel as some establishments offer free transfers and wi fi) Beach villa suites excellent accommodation for families. Overall assessment not truly a 5 star establishment but I would say a superior 4 star. I would recommend Medifushi for a family vacation
Nice Island Resort
As a young couple looking for a nice spot for some time off the grid, we were very pleased with both the environment and the facilities. The island is gorgeous and the beach villa that we rented was nice and quiet. The food and service were ok and our experience was overall pretty relaxing and genuine. The dolphin watching excursion was just great and the snorkelling experience really blew us away. The only things that we felt could still be improved were the seaplane transfer and the check-out. The seaplane transfer was a little rushed and confusing. When we approached the Medhufushi desk at MLE we were given our tickets and put on a bus in literally less than 1 minute - that including the luggage check-in. We were also given two check-in cards to be filled on the way to the resort, which left us puzzled as to why they should be taken care of on an airplane with no A/C nor pens. The check-out also become a little confusing when a receptionist told us hat we would have to leave the room by 12am the next day and wait by the jetty, despite our goodbye letter stating later times for both the luggage collection and the seaplane transfer. That left us really confused so we came back to the reception the next morning. We were lucky enough to talk to a different receptionist that confirmed our goodbye letter and told us that we could indeed use the room until the departure time as ours was a late check-out.
Nice hotel, if you come prepared
We booked a semi-detached villa formthe first leg of our honeymoon and even though the overall experience was good, we had a few setbacks. First of all, the room's bathroom is out in the open, which means that you will have to shower in a small garden - which is of course fenced by a 2,5m wall - outside the room. This was not exactly a problem as privacy is indeed provided, even though some people may find this difficult to cope with. Second of all, the toilet is also out in the open, which results in being almost constantly inhabited by ants, lots and lots of ants. Besides these teo things, the room is in general good, with a comfortable bed, flat-screen television, mini bar, big wardrobe and a veranda that is just 5 meters from the ocean. Wifi not available in the rooms though. Keep in mind that almost all hotels in Maldives are secluded and far from anything else, which means that you will have to spend all of your day at the beach or pool or you will have to book an excursion from the hotel. Moreover, the food is a bit pricey for the quality offered, even though the buffet is big and has many choices. I strongly recommend anyone booking to go for the full board as with the half board we booked we had to pay good money for the basic lunch in the a la carte retaurant. The lunch buffet is also a bit pricey and basic. All in all the hotel was good, if you come prepared for the above mentioned things.
fantastic resort
My wife and I have been really enjoyed that time spending there..and we hope to visit it again
lovely time
what it provided is more than the price highly recommenned just remind only seaplant there and if you are in honey moon need to notice hotel all the foods and drinks in reasinable price
Great, relaxing get-away!
Wonderful!
Paradise!
First of all the staff was just amazing! We all know that one of the main goals of hotels are customer sevice, well this place hit a home run with that one. The waitstaff, The Vilu Bar staff, the boat guys on the snorkeling/ island hopping, and the guy working the little beach bar down by the watervillas all treat you like a VIP!
Close to airport
Room was small and the view was of a brick wall and garbage out the other window.
Beautiful hotel on a pristine beach.
Really good week. The food was particularly good. I would go back again anytime.
Good but seen better resorts - especially 5*
Total stay: 2 weeks Lovely secluded island, swimming with sea turtles, baby sharks and a gorgeous spectrum of fish. Great for scuba and snorkelling. Lagoons filled with seaweed and Sea grass and can be rocky/broken coral so sea shoes are good here. More expensive than most resorts in other locations. Do not bring your own alcohol and be aware duty free will be confiscated and returned to you when you depart. Much more of a 4* than 5*. Food is quite nice, plenty tuna and good sushi, but no crab prawns or many other fish. The food and beverage manager informed that the menu will be improved quite soon. Private lobster dinner on the beach is about $200US. We only took enough dollars for tips, everything can done in one final bill at the end by card or cash, which was fine. Island hopping was interesting to see how the locals live. A large boat capsized with quite a few passengers with only minor injuries while we were there. Luckily the boat hit a rock quite close to shore. Most people in Maldives say 'one and only resort' and 'coco palm' are examples of better resorts. All in all we had a good time but the resort could be better for a 5 star.
Nice place nice people's
This the first time and I am sure I will go again because its really nice place great service very nice atmosphere and friendly stuff
Nice place terrible amenities
We had a lot of fun experiencing the sheer natural beauty of the atoll. However, paying for water (the resort provides 1 bottle a day without charge), the lack of wifi conductivity from rooms, extreme markup prices at the resort store, the late dinner timing, the staff not meeting verbally agreed deadlines (ie maintenance repair appointments), the lack of food variety for vegetarians, the inconsistent availability of access to the hotel manager, and the general lack of service etiquette from dining staff made the stay a lackluster experience. For the cost, we would not recommend anyone to travel all the way from the US; a 26 hour per leg flight would be met with certain disappointment. The natural beauty made up for some but not all the resort deficiencies. We will not return.
Beautiful 5-star hotel, perfect for your honeymoon
My wife and I had the time of our lives at Medhufushi. Upon leaving the sea plane and entering the resort, we were immediately welcomed by Molly, who was so friendly and helpful. She explained to us all there is to know about the island resort. We were then escorted to our rooms where we had a cake and champagne bottle waiting for us (yes we came for our honeymoon!) They also had the words "Happy Honeymoon" written on our bed with leaves. My wife cried after seeing our room, which was a water villa, because she was totally blown away with everything she saw, especially the gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean. The room itself is pretty spacious for the 2 of us, the bathroom has a big bath tub, standing shower and 2 vanity sinks. The balcony was our favorite part, it had a lovely swing and 2 beach chairs to relax on. The staff are very friendly, from the buffet staff, to the spa staff, the cleaning staff, the water sports guys, we had no complaints. The food was delicious, very international. We tried the Belanese massage at the spa which was so relaxing. We also did the honeymoon package for waters sports (Jet Ski, Fun Sport and Kayak). Although we did get sick one of the days, we had an overall wonderful experience and recommend Medhufushi to everyone we see. Totally worth the money :) 5 thumbs up !!
Paradise island
Very nice island & hotel at a very reasonable price for being the Maldives. The service was very good. The buffet dinner was as good as a buffet dinner can get.
Holiday Review
This hotel is very quiet and perfect for a relaxing holiday when all you want to do is laze around and read a book or do a bit of snorkelling or maybe diving for the more energetic. The overwater rooms are clean and comfortable but maybe not what some would consider 5 star, the island rooms are very shaded and some might not like the out door bathroom. The whole resort is very nice with friendly helpful staff and the food is really excellent.
The overall experience was good, but the place felt a little too secluded. Also they need to adjust the breakfast and dinner times to make it easier for the Half board folks (make breakfast finish later and dinner start earlier)
nice hotel , very friendly and helpful staff .
we enjoyed the stay at this hotel , very nice staff , good food , many places and things to do , very good water sports , nice restaurants , good food and beverage , only one thing bad happened to me at check out from one of the reception staff , he was very rode and unpolite even i made a complain about it , also this gay cant talk or understand english , this was the only negative thing happened to me along my 10 days stay .
everything was perfect but seaplane arrangement
everything was fine but the seaplane arrangement was boring, my flight was 22.10, but the seaplane came at 13.15, then i have to wait at the male airport for more than 7 hours , that was frustrating. Although i was told the seaplane was operated by a independent company, but if the hotel strongly apply for us for a late deparutre to seaplane company, things would have had been better?
very friendly staff with positive can-do attitude
We stayed at sunset water villa beginning of June. Definitely recommended. Observing baby sharks, giant sea turtles and stingrays just from the balcony of your room was priceless. Unfortunately for the duration of the week we never actually witnessed a sunset because it was a continuous storm for the whole of 7 days. Well, the hotel really cannot do anything about it, can they? The bar area has a single pool table, a dart board and a cute little library and this is the only activity you can have at night time. Eventually there are dances and parties but the weather really was not helping with any of this. All guests were couples, most probably all on honeymoon, so nobody actually bothers to socialise with anybody else. This might also be the rule for Maldives in general. The food tasted excellent the first night, then it became dull, because more or less the same dishes are served every night. You would expect to eat a lot of sea food here and by seafood I mean lobsters, crabs, prawns and the like. Apparently not the case. Only some fish and a single type of sushi & sashimi is served. Occasionally, there we also noodles with traces of prawns. The desserts on the other hand were extremely tasty with diferent ice creams to accompany them everyday. The only way to get back and forth here from Male is the sea plane and its costs are enormous (in my book). Consider this when you are booking your stay because some other resorts (closer to Male) might be cheaper to fly to.
A MUST STAY at this hotel..Loved it
I never write reviews but for this one I HAD TO !! I had planned a surprise trip for my parents on my mom's bday. My parents live in India and flew from there. The hotel staff was so polite, helpful and cooperating. They had accommodated every single request I made to them. My parents dont eat meat / fish and so my parents told me he would make special vegetarian food for them like daal, dosa (indian food varieties). On top of that, the hotel was very clean, quality of service was GREAT, amenities were great. The cherry on the cake was the hotel location. I had booked the Water Villa for them and they simply Loveddddd it with its stairs directly going into the ocean waters, private pool..they were fascinated by every single detail of the room. Also, they were extremely delighted to get a special celebration on the day of my mom's birthday. I had requested them for a small cake. The hotel not only arranged for a cake but decorated the bed with flowers and their dinner table was also decorated with flowers. It is soo soo nice to know that the people gave such a warm welcome and stay to my parents. They will remember this vacation always ! I really want to thank everyone at the hotel for their service, help and cooperation. The location in itself was so awesome but to top it the quality of service and the hotel staff's love and cooperation made this vacation even more special for them. Thank you all ! I WILL SURELY STAY THERE THE NEXT TIME I VISIT MALDIVES :)
Great sunny luxury break
Family of 5 stayed in deluxe beach bungalow, and loved it. Fantastic food, lovely pool, more reasonable than expected: 1 litre local bottled water $3.50, milk shakes $6. Went half board and lunches plus drinks plus snacks plus excursion cost $600 for the Family for the week. Dolphin watching great, snorkeling excursion great, weather late May hot all day and night (aircon in room great, missed at lunch and on Sea plane!), we only had 1/2 day of monsoon rains. Water beautiful, beaches kept clean (by hand, not naturally so). Not ideal if you wanted to swim /dive directly from your room with no house reef, but pool good enough. Loved it!
Beautiful Maldives!
definitely worth the stay. thanks for a great honeymoon! Aret & Izabela
Good but there are better place
This is our 2nd time to stay Maldivas. Clearly the first place was better, food, surrounding area (more fish to see), beach..
Great Honeymoon Holiday,AMAZING food,GREAT Jetskis
We stayed on Medhufushi Island, wow what a dreamy location! The smooth sea plane journey gave us a sense of Medhufushi being particularly special due to it being more remote. Welcomed with cocktails - a warm welcome that was much appreciated after a flight! We had booked a water villa (worth the extra),&requested it to be on sunset side - magical evenings.. In a water villa meant that we could snorkel right off our own balcony; We saw a turtle, rays, sharks, &shimmering fish, just around our own villa!!! magical.. The dining (we went half board, sufficient) was delicious, with a great array of cuisines,&always enough portions. We didnt get bored of the food once, and always something new! particularly liked the home baked muffins every morning! Vilu Bar was a great chilled getaway for happy hour cocktails every night, and nice to cool down over a game of pool or darts. The al a carte restaurant at the Vilu bar was AMAZING FOOD - best ever fillet steak, amazing bearing in mind how remote we were... Staff were always extremely helpful&it was a really special touch that we had our own appointed waiter for breakfast /dinner-we only realised a few days in that it wasnt a coincedence we were always served by the same person! With activities - highly recommend hiring a JETSKI! They take you on a tour of local islands&great fun to throw around...following some manta rays! Also - fantastic value for money in hiring a canoe - we canoed out&had some great views of coral, rays and fish
Excellent water villas
perfect for a stay of 5 days. Magnificent landscapes, water villas are a must and very beautiful diving sites (perhaps a bit pricey, also be aware, no house reef).
great hotel for couple
Food very nice and is very relax island & quite .. The water Villa amazing
They do what they have to
No one made me feel welcome here and our bags were delayed for several hours. My friend was chastised for having his shirt off in the dining room (which is right off the pool). They got our booking wrong and our over water bungalow was not ready. First we we told we had booked all inclusive, then half board, but they couldn't show us what in writing half board meant. When we begged to take a late flight on our last day to make up for the delay on the first, they told us they could only "try" and we ended up leaving at 1:30, although that was better than 9, the latest flights go at 4. I would not recommend this place
Great relaxing holiday
We had a great stay. The staff was always useful and friendly. Food was great and in good quantity always.
Amazing islands, very nice people and hotel
I made the reservation for my wife and I for the last week of november; lots of resorts were already full, but Medhufushi came out with good reviews from previous travelers and water villas available. And I really recommend the water villas with their direct access to the lagoon from your private balcony and very nice sight at sunset. Instead the beach villas were not located just in front of the beach, but few meters away and with some exotic trees in between, so you can't actually see the water front from your private terrace, that's why I consider water villas are better (but also more expensive#. Once we arrived at the Male international airport, we just didn't have to worry about anything, since the hotel had made our sea plane reservation. After 10-minute shuttle transfer to the sea plane airport and 2 hours waiting for our flight, we could enjoy a 45-minute trip in the sky over various wonderful reefs and islands. After landing, we received a personnalized welcome with a cocktail, and we had the nice surprise to stay in the very last water villa, which has a better view on the lagoon #ask for this one, if it is available). During the stay, I recommend to rent full snorkeling equipment and enjoy the daily free boat trip to different reefs, so you can swim with colourfull reef fishes and, if you are lucky, with turtles or manta rays! Our stay in Medhufushi was very nice, nothing to worry about, the personnel was friendly and always available to help. Perfect!
Nice Couples Retreat
It's a nice couples retreat. Our only true disappointment was the condition of the room.
Beauty and the Beast.
Maldives was the choice for our honeymoon and in terms of location it did not disappoint! We stayed in a water villa sunrise side.... The view was breath taking, waking up to gorgeous sunrise, exotic marine life , fresh air and the sound of the surf made us feel like we are in paradise. Every morning prior to breakfast my wife and I would wake up put our swimming gear on , take a few steps and enjoy the lagoon, it was great!! Various marine life were seen from our villa including sharks, a HUGE stingray, sea turtle and a multitude of different fish. Food choice in this hotel was quite satisfactory, nice range of choices. We were on half board and were quite pleased with this choice. Prices of lunch, drinks were reasonable however paying for drinking water is laughable when considering that this hotel is supposedly five star. Our hotel experience was not the best, on a daily basis the room service attendant needed to be reminded to replace/ replenish items such as shower gel , matches, coffee, batteries for the safe. The actual restroom was hardly ever cleaned, the ashtray outside was never cleaned. I noticed that coffee cups were not replaced after use but washed in the bathroom.... This is not five star service by any stretch of the imagination. Dining service was non-existant, dreadful is all I can say. A beautiful part of the world and we did have the time of our lives, but that was due to our own attitude to make the best of the situation.
Honeymooners Paradise
Excellent place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. The Island is beautiful. The Water Villas where we stayed were the best. It had an awesome view overlooking the Indian Ocean. The water is crystal clear. The Beach villas overlook the beach and the Ocean. The staff is very warm and the waiters were very polite and ever ready to make conversation. The Buffet's have a good spread of Main Course and Desserts. The room's mini bar is well stacked. Water sports are plenty and extremely enjoyable. Refreshments like water is always given complementary after every sport. Every detail was taken care off. My wife and I had the best time ever on this island. Unfortunately just when we were about to leave, one of the member of the staff demanded we pay for one of the items in the Mini Bar which we had already paid. After he confirmed the same, we didn't receive any apology. The issue was, he accused us for not paying in front of another guest. Other than this person, every other staff has been most gracious. From the front desk to souvenir shop staff to the chiefs and servers at the buffet tables were always polite. All in all an excellent location for all honeymooners.
Medhufushi is a lovely lovely resort. We stayed on an over-water villa which was clean, beautiful and serene. the resort operators and staff are very helpful and nice. we went snorkeling around the villas and once saw a manta-ray. Half-board includes a buffet style breakfast and dinner, which has a lovely selection of delicious food. Excursions are expensive except the free snorkeling trips everyday, a must-go!! Overall an awesome experience and would go back!
nice hotel but 4.5 star
hotel location is very nice. the pity is there are too many stones in the sea which brings a lot of unconfortable. but it is still a good place for snorkeling.
Great place
Great holiday, super food and well priced. Very relaxing.
Heavenly Honeymoon
I loved the hotel, especially being able to swim with the turtles directly off the balcony. Would recomend a water villa above a beach villa, as it allows for such a greater experience. The food was also fantastic, with ample choice, and were very impressed with the service of our waiter and bar staff. The daily free snorkel trips to nearby reefs were fantastic, and allowed us to see sharks as well as hundreds of different exotic fish. We really enjoyed dolphin watching, and would recommend having a private beach bbq. The seaplane transfers were also a fantastic experience to get to the island.
unresponsive hotel
I went to this hotel for honeymoon. I started sending emails to the hotel one month before the tirp to inform the hotel my flt details for arrangement of pickup at the airport and for the honeymoon arrangement. However, I didnot receive any response from the Hotel !!! and no one answer the phone when I called the hotel's phone no. Finally I had to wait 2 hrs at male airport for the transportation to the hotel. I paid for half board, I couldn't believe that no water is provided for buffet dinner and breakfast (it is chargable)
Pure bliss!!
I am a very demanding customer but I must say that the Medhufushi resort exceeded my expectations!
Medhufushi Island Resort-Maldives
Each single second of ours spent on the island are unforgettable. The food was more than tasty and we could select from a variety of dishes every breakfast and dinner. The freshness of each and every dish make more yummy to eat.Everything was perfect for our honeymoon. The water villa comfort, privacy, intimacy and without forgetting its cleanliness ad hygiene. The inside decor was excellent for us as honeymooners. The location of the island was the best .The clear blue and clean water makes it more attractive. One could easily spot all kinds of marine animals. The hotel is value for money.Whoever we came into contact with from the lower management level like the waiters to the higher level, they are all dedicated to do their work.Once you reach Male Airport till the end of your stay every single issue is being taken care of.We did not have to worry about anything. The private beach dinner was really good. The spa head massage was very relaxing.Overall we had a great honeymoon. We"ve been to many other 5 star hotels while on business trips sometimes but Medhufushi just exceed our expectations. This is simply paradise on earth.
Medhufushi resort - recommended
Medhufushi island resort is excellent for honeymooners like us, the place was truely like paradise. We would definately recommend staying at the water villas; your own private retreat. The 5 star location was great, the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was plenty, varied and spot on. After 6 days both me and the mrs didn't want to come back home! A word of warning though, something that left a bitter taste, everything is extortionately expensive, so be prepared. It starts off as expensive and then then gets an addtional % service charge and % govt tax. The sea plane transfer was very expensive and I was not informed of the cost until checking out; where you pay the full list of expenses during the stay! Take this 5* rate on board though and you will not regret visting this amazing location.
paradise island
Much has been written about the coral atolls of maldives, but nothing quite prepares you for the real stuff. The seaplane ride from the airport with barefoot pilots is amazing as we skim over impossibly blue and green ocean and atolls. The hotel was a little gem with truly warm and welcoming staff chosen from around the world. The water villa where we stayed was the stuff odf dreams with the ocean beneath us, our own deck and private access to the lagoon. Food is plentiful and varied. We would love to go back.
Basic and beautiful
It's hard to know how to choose between all the islands in the Maldives as so many sound the same...but this island had food that really impressed us, despite being a buffet it hadn't been sitting around for hours and most things were prepared freshly in front of us. The manager was very helpful and sympathetic when James had an allergic reaction to a caterpillar and sent for medicine to arrive by seaplane!! We encountered a funny situation on the last day on check-out...just make sure that you give your key back to the reception on check-out as opposed to leaving it in the room!
Wish I was still there!
Island was stunning. Hotel was fantastic and the people are so friendly. If you are looking for a holiday to do nothing except read a book, listen to your iPod, waslk around the island and snorkel this is the island to go to. Loved every minute of it. Would go back in an instant. Also remember if you do travel to the Maldives do go half board, full board or even all-inclusive as it can be very costly but to have the experience, the beauty and such amazing wildlife this is definately a paradise island and a dream holiday.
Medhufushi
Beautiful property. We were upgraded to a water villa which meant that we didn't take much advantage of the beach or the pool. Fantastic selection of delicious food at breakfast buffet. We had opted for B&B to take advantage of great a'la carte menu at restaurant/bar over the water. New Year's Eve celebration was a bit cheesy, although the happy hour on the beach had been great. Participation in special meals like beach bbqs was too restricted and needed to be booked too far in advance, which meant that they were all booked during our short stay. The DVDs on offer at the front desk were old, and at least in one case, was a pirated copy. They should update their selection (even if with old movies) and get rid of all their pirated versions.
Great place for a relaxing holiday
We stayed in the resort for one week and when we left we both thought that a few days more would have been great. The water villa was wonderful. We had a villa on the "sunrise' side, there is another row of villas on the "sunset" side of the resort. If you are not an early bird maybe the sunset side is better. Most of the evenings we had our meals in de Malaafaiy buffet restaurant which was the cheaper of the two possibilities and in our opinion much better than the a la carte restaurant Al Fresco. One of the evenings we had a romantic beach BBQ which was indeed romantic, but the food was disappointing. The food in the buffet restaurant is excellent and good value for money. No need to bring formal dresses or high heeled shoes because there is very little opportunity to wear them. The dress code is casual; the buffet restaurant has sand on the floor so flip-flops are more comfortable.
Amazing Experience
An absolute must if you are looking for a holiday with relaxation as the top priority. We had a water villa and it was fantastic to be able to walk down our own private steps into the crystal clear waters and snorkel amongst the growing coral. The hotel offers free boat trips to the reef for snorkelling and we saw a huge array of marine life. The dolphin watching trip was great. The Werner Lau diving school is so relaxed and we felt part of the family there. The food is amazing with a fantastic choice and the staff completely accommodating and welcoming. They all truly wanted to help and make the holiday. Great facilities, amazing location, Would reccommend to anyone.
Good Value
A nice resort, isolated and well maintained, with all promotions offered to us had a very good value. However, two things have to be mentioned: the cost and duration of transfer(so-called seaplane)and lack of nightlife. Seaplane transfer can take one upto 2 hours compared to 45 minutes promised and could cost you upto $400 per person(billed by the hotel, not my the air carrier????). A surcharge could be added to your bill to adjust for cost of fuel, and nothing you can do about it but pay! The food was OK, not impresive for 5 star hotel despite the insentives given (half- board or dinner buffet), particularly breakfast. On top of virtual absence of any night life and entertaintment the average cost of alchoholic bevarage was $ 14, a bottle table wine $34, and a small bottle of cocke frome room bar almoust $8. Water was provided in class bottles, one a day, or $5 in restaurant if ordered. Again, a nice resort with courteous staff, clean accomodation, but far from 5 star. Way overrated! Think more like 3+, 4 star at most. The best activities offered are diving (honeymoon dive was a great value with excellent instructors), deep sea fishing, and spa (dont miss that).
Not bad for the price
Good value but I would rate it a 4+ stars, not 5. Our room service tray was left outside our door indefinately, until we would bring it to their attention to remove it. The buffet at dinner time has an awesome selection. It just appeared to me that something was missing to be a solid 5 star, but its hard for me to put a finger on it. Took forever to coordinate with the hotel the sea plane transfers. I received many emails from different staff prior to booking coordinating my arrival, so it was somewhat frustrating. Pool was nice and beach and over the water villas very nice as well. Not sure if its worth the money to be over the water. Showers in beach villas are cool.
Endroit merveilleux ! Organisation parfaite !
Veldig ventelig personalet, nydelig Strand og water villa
Nice place with cozy atmosphere, but a bit rundown
The place is located on a nice and cozy Island and the atmosphere is also nice. Our reservation included an all incl package and the meals were served in a "dining hall" which was OK and cozy but a dining hall... We compensted by eating at the a la carte restaurant a couple of times where the food was also a bit better but the privacy was much better. We found the drinks included in the all inclusive package very basic and the very cheapest brands so we had to compenste to buy the dirinks we valued higher ofcause at a premium. If you are not so interested in higher quality drinks then the package is certainly worth it as the food protion was good. Service was good and we enjoyed our beach cabin whereas I might choose the cabins located offshore next time. The place is overall nice, but a bit run down and if I did not know better I might say it appears as if teh onwers is trying to squeeze the last cent out of the place. That being said we opted for a 3 star hotel and this is also what we got so no complaint there
Medhufushi Island Resort | Home in Medhufushi | Travala.com
The resort island was lovely, staff were amazing and the buffet style food had plenty of choice across many cultures. I stayed in an over water villa and whilst the island itself is rated at 4.5 star the accommodation was closer to a 3 but of course with an amazing view and direct stair access to the water. The swing seats that often get shown are unbalanced on a lot of the terraces, mine included, not the end of the world but I didn't use it that often. Cleaning staff came almost every day offering to clean/top up drinking water. The AC had a musty smell but was quite effective at keeping the room cool, however the exterior unit made a loud noise which made me worry how the neighbours would hear it. A lot of the thatch roofing needs replacing, terrace/walkways decking is damaged/loose in some places. The room had cockroaches and ants but I was able to eventually get a spray bottle from reception and every day I would see a pest control man going along the walkway to the water villas. Wi-Fi is terrible. Every room has its own router which means signal is amazing but In the early hours of the morning (when no one else is using it) I could get around 40Mbps but at any point during the day/early evening you are lucky to get 3Mbps. The hotel TVs have a limited selection of downloaded movies and a few TV channels. If you have kids make sure to download any videos/games in advance to keep them entertained especially if it rains which it did on a few days in February.
