Friendly staff

Very helpful and friendly staff. Inconvenient location without a car and out of date facilities. Toilet seat wouldn’t stay up etc. Nevertheless, a good basic stay.

Manager did not like that I’d booked via an online booking site. This motel is very rule orientated. The unit was not serviced other than removing rubbish. Unit appeared initially to be clean though with a heavy smell of air freshener. Mould in shower. Cooking facilities were an air fryer and an electric frypan which was badly in need of a clean. However the bed linen was fresh and clean. No individual toiletries or face cloths provided.

Unfortunately, there were maintenance issues and power points require the services of an Electrician

Even though it states sound proof rooms - they are certainly not. Can hear everything from people in room next to you showering or running a tap, people outside walking, and a dog next door barking. Also penalties apply for travelling for business, which is fine however there is no mention of this until after you have booked your non refundable booking

Nice stay at this motel in Wanaka. We stayed in the two bedroom - the beds were comfortable, the kitchen had basic utensils (as well as Teas and Coffee), but no cooking oil. The laundry was really convenient and nice - cost $5 for one load (both wash and dry). Staff were really friendly and helpful! I would stay here again and would recommend it!

This reservation was cancelled on 13/02/24, which is when we requested a booking. Manuka said they had cancelled this. I see a charge has been raised and demand it be reversed.

Hotelier cancelled booking!

The hotelier lectured my wife twice over the phone on using Expedia to book, stating we should be supporting NZ businesses by booking direct, and not sending money offshore to the US. On arrival, I had to listen to the same spiel, and also that he had cancelled our Expedia booking, as discussed with my wife, which was an outright lie!! She did not authorise him to do so. He also rebooked our room direct so he didn’t have to pay fee’s to Expedia (hoteliers words). He discounted us a few dollars less than our Expedia cost…wow!! Because of this we have now lost loyalty rewards of around 4-5 times the value. We travel a lot, and always book through the app, but we shouldn’t have be confronted over how we book. We don’t have time to ring around trying to find available rooms; and we shouldn’t have to justify why we book the way we do either. We will not stay here again, nor will we recommend. If planning on booking through the app to get rewards, I wouldn’t bother as you probably won’t get them! Other than that, the room was fine.

Room and furniture smelt like cigarettes and ash tray outside was full, curtains were torn.

No one at reception when we arrived, notice on door “ be back shortly”. Rang phone number on the notice, no response for 30 minutes, staff member was inside but forgot to take notice of the door. Unit was small, bed not made up properly chairs uncomfortable. Bed very hard, club chairs. Room looked tired and needs an update, not value for what we payed. We do not recommend this stay.

Great little place in great location

This fit our needs just fine. Kitchen was adequately supplied. Beds were comfortable. Not fancy and maybe a little higher than our other south island hotels but a good place

Away from all the traffic and town noise

The room was a cabin, lean too. Not what I would expect from a motel in Wanaka. When the owner saw I had booked through Expedia, he said ‘Nasty’ which I thought was a bit unprofessional.

I think this is possibly the worst motel I have ever stayed at! The young woman who greeted us on reception was friendly and that was about the best thing about this place. She asked us if we wanted to swap our room as it had a sloping ceiling so we 'upgraded' to a double room. However as it was a very cold and overcast day, the room was freezing cold, very dark and inadequate heating. The rooms are very tired and old fashioned with no redeeming features. The kitchen was very basic, and not that clean. The bathroom was an icebox and the shower a real danger as it is raised and has a raised lip on the shower tray which I grazed my toe on. The whole place was very dingy and dirty and we couldn't wait to leave the next morning. We left as soon as we woke up, it was too cold to have a shower and so we just got up and left. It doesn't even have a great location so there are no redeeming features and so many other better places to stay in Wanaka.

Great cost effective accomodation in Wanaka

Great off road parking, only a few minutes to drive into the centre of Wanaka. Comfortable beds, very clean, very quiet

It was a spacious room and the kitchenette was well equipped with basic stuff we needed. The bathroom needs a holder where one can place his/her toiletries. We ended placing our shampoo and other stuff on the shower floor. Nice and warm cozy room. All in all, it was awesome stay.

Nice motel, ok stay.

Comfortable beds and good shower (if a little touchy as tiny adjustments made a big difference). We were there on a very cold weekend and the built in heaters were not sufficient. However, the small radiator in the cupboard made the place just warm enough. The TV remote didn't work well and only one of our phones could connect to the internet - suspect the unit we were in (2) was a bit far from the router. It's up the hill a wee way from town and given the weather we always drove. An ok stay, but not really good value for money.

Enjoyed our one night stay. A short drive into town. Comfortable room. It got a bit cold but there were plenty of heaters and electric blankets.

Tidy, pleasant host. Water main in unit broke and host were very fast to provide us an alternative unit.

We left early as we had to get back home to our country before the borders were closed. We could not get a refund for the time we did not stay. It's an older style motel, shower pressure not very good, it's a bit out of the way, but the price charged reflects that.

We got what we paid for , clean and everything we needed. Is exactly as it advertised our room.

This property was surprisingly good especially for the price! The full kitchen with hot plate was great for making a hot breakfast for ourselves and it's located in a nice quiet neighborhood very close to the town center. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Our biggest issue was finding the place. The pool wasn't open due to the season, but we used the grill and the laundry. The location was good for a short drive to Mt. Iron, Puzzling World, and the Lavender farm.

Very good. A bit dark in the room. Could do with a lighter paint. The chairs in the room were not the most comfortable. The cleanliness and service and helpfulness of the staff were great. 20 minute easy walk to the centre and lovely walks round the lake.

The room is small. Kitchen utensils are limited. A non-stick cooking pan full of scratches. No ventilation, therefore, the room is smelly after cooking. Very basic room

No frills hotel

Just another no frills hotel. Very small & old room with full equipped kitchen. Quite a distance from town, driving requires.

Hospitality was great - units are very comfortable and clean with good facilities- we cooked our own meals and had everything we needed. Staff were really helpful and friendly.

Friendly and helpful staff. They were extremely obliging and nothing was too much trouble for them. Regular room service and the rooms were neat and tidy. Very comfy beds! Free use of the laundry was as an added bonus. Limited cooking facilities but we expected that and it was quite adequate.

this was a great motel clean tidy and modern ,one of the best showers i have struck,the only down side was not walking distance to town

Stayed here while we were exploring South Island. Wanaka is a little resort style town. This hotel is set up in a residential area and was quiet and clean. Hotel room had a nice kitchen and was spacious. Would recommend!

The only thing I didn't like is I wish it had been within easy walking distance from town... it does say this in info, but guess I thought it wasn't that far. The staff was lovely, the room was great for the price, and I appreciated all the information staff gave us when asked. Quiet, ok cooking facilities even in the backpacker room... we made do with the microwave and the fridge... too bad no hot plate.

Would stay at Manuka again

Friendly and helpful staff. Immaculate motel with nice kitchenette (gave us a small bottle of milk for coffee). A little drive into town, but got there in ten minutes. Good value

Good location - about 20min walk from town. Low ceilings but find for us as we are both short. Warm space and quite except for when they needed to put the dryers on but this was during the day so didn't impact us.

When the weather changed our plans, the receptionist was very helpful in letting us use the phone and stay longer if needed to use wifi. They also made sure we were some using hot water before they started laundry. Very accommodating people!

Excellent value in Wanaka

Located 1 mile uphill from center of town (via beautiful lakeside walk) in a quiet residential community , the perfect combination. Large room with kitchen facilities, small outside sitting area, friendly staff. The reception is open 8A-8P but if you need to arrive later, they're happy to make arrangements. Stay here!

It was okay- not the best but good enough.

The room was spacious! It was very quiet. Good value for price.

We did not have internet during the stay except 1 -1/2 hours just after we checked in the Motel. We checked in late around 7 pm and did not bother the internet, but my son used only 1-1/2 hrs. I woke up early at 4.30 a.m to do some work-related jobs. There was no internet. The manager told me that I should have phoned them at night and in the morning it is my job to call the internet connection people. Finally, they called those people and could not get the internet for me. I had to go the reception to use their internet. What a waste of time, back and forth to the office and my room. I paid N$ 5 for using the dryer. The drier could not dry my clothes after 1 hr, even though it seemed to work.

Recommended motel for stay in Wanaka

Quiet, well equipped motel. Useful local information. Laundry facilities appreciated. Enjoyed 4-night stay. 25 minute walk to Wanaka centre. No amenities locally.

Good kitchen. Although we weren't there to ski, it was obviously perfectly set up to do so. Only slight downside is it wasn't in an easy walk of shops, probably a 20-25 minute walk or a five minute drive?

Poor start as reception closed at 20.15 after our long journey. Room ok. Long way from town.

The location was great, just a short driving to amenities & places of interest ...

Excellent value for money for a quick stay in Wanaka.
