Nice and talkative owner. UK style "elegant" house, excellent!
Delightful stay - friendly host. Lovely old house.
Interesting old house that has been refurbished. Our host was kind, helpful, and a good guide to local culture. Warm family style breakfast among guests.
I loved the energy of the house.
Michel was a wonderful host! We wish we could have stayed longer to chat with him. Absolutely delicious and full breakfast
Very comfortable stay with a fantastic host
You always hope for somewhere quiet and has a comfortable bed wherever you stay, but your experience is taken to the next level when you get a host like Mike. He cares so much that you have a great stay and get the best experience while in Campbellton.
Owner Mike was very personable, upgraded our room which we appreciated, will need to walk stairs, Charm of an vintage renovated home, liked all the antiques
Michel is a very accommodating host with unfettered enthusiasm to make your stay the most comfortable. You'll immediately feel welcome by his Acadien French hospitality and you'll enjoy every minute when he shares his wealth of knowledge about the area. The house is a virtual museum, a renovated mansion with the feel of a 1900 English estate. To stay at McKenzie Mansion alone makes your New Brunswick stay worthwhile.
Great and welcoming owner. Cute typical Canadian house close to the center of the town. I recommend !
Nice place
House over 120 years old, good condition. Michel was a really good cook.
Fantastic breakfast! Mike is a fantastic host with a big heart. Our stay was short but wonderful.
Absolutely loved it
Absolutely loved my stay. The room was amazing and comfy, very spacious and charming. The whole building and atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The owner is very friendly and hospitable. Made my first visit to New Brunswick very memorable. I will 100% be staying here again in the future
Nous avons aimé l'hospitalité du propriétaire. Le bed and breakfast est bien situé et proche à pied de la promenade.
This is a nice place to stay. Great fresh breakfast.
Hospitality and more
The McKenzie House is well situated minutes from downtown.....no need to drive It is an older home but very comfortable. The owner Michel was very accommodating with information about restaurants and history of Campbellton. His mother Antoinette greeted us upon our arrival and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with her. Breakfast was simple but sufficient to start our day. We would stay here again.
Sleeping in this well-maintained historical house is like a dream, cozy with a wide comfortable bed, hallways covered with pictures of the past. The host are amazing and very happy to share their stories with those who are interested, the best part was waking up and have breakfast (very generous I'd say) in the wide dining room and have conversations with the hosts and other guests from around the world.
Wonderful people. The morning pancakes and syrup were fantastic! Clean and authentic. Outdoor maintenance was lacking but indoor was immaculate. Michael’s 95 yr old mother is the jewel of my stay.
Nice location, easy access to restaurants and shopping, along the river walking. Room with bathroom, a little small, breakfast very limited, nice owner.
Restful...
Average
Bed was not comfortable and pillows were too hard. Breakfast was good.
The host was exceptionally friendly and a first class hotelier. Would stay there again.
A stop over in our travels Mike is very friendly and room was clean with private washroom
It is a charming old house converted into a family hotel. Amazing original retro furniture, awesome breakfast prepared by the excellent host Mike every morning. Would definitely come back and recommend to others. The province of Quebec is just 5 min drive across the bridge for cheap bears and great food. Central location close to restaurants and downtown.
Hôte formidable. Excellent service. Très courtois. Très plaisant de discuter avec Michel le proprio
It was a unique property with very quaint old rooms. We got there before the 4 pm check in time, we felt that 4 pm was a bit too long to wait to check in and get settled.
The host and staff are very nice, the room is clean. however, the property is too old, and breakfast is too simple.
It was a very unique place to stay with a interesting history.
Lovely historic building, cozy rooms, lovely and helpful staff.
Excellent hosts, friendly service!
Historical location close to the downtown area.
great staff, great character house
Amazing and friendly
Cosy little place. Mamere is a treasure. Great location
Charmante et chaleureuse auberge. Propreté A1. Merci pour tout :-)
Great old character house, Mike is very upbeat and friendly.
Classical older home, well kept, lots of charming squeaks in the floors as you made your way about the home.... great location, near local amenities... 😃
Very surprised at checki-in when hostess said they strongly preferred to be paid in cash. There is nothing in their listing about wanting cash. Luckily I had enough but it wiped out my cash reserve for the trip. Breakfast was so-so. I had expected a full breakfast given the room cost since I had already accepted a smaller room & a shared bath.
Well-located and reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and property was clean.
It’s an old house that should retire. Our bed made so much noise we could not sleep. The owners are very nice and friendly. Breakfast was ok.
A century-old home near the river. Walked to a nice restaurant
The house is realy clean. Bathroom commun but next to the room and clean
Wasn't very happy when we arrived and the owner told us our booking had been cancelled by Hotels.com! The owner was very good to deal with and put us in a better room!
Loved the old structure of the home and the wood moulding and floors.
Old epoch property beautifully maintained and decorated with very interesting artifacts.
Very lovely and unique place! Clean and staff friendly!
Room cleanliness and breakfast where subpar. Only accepts cas for payment.
Not to our liking
House is well worn. The room assigned to us was very small and hot and the only one w/o ac- we were told that was because we were paying much less through Expedia. We were also informed when we arrived that only cash payment was allowed.
Accomodations were good but owner claimed that I had booked 2 nights when I had NOT -- I just bookef 1 night. Will have to follow up on this which I do not like.
I really enjoyed my time at Maison McKenzie. The staff, mother and son, combo, were incredibly friendly and helpful. They made me feel immediately welcome, and went out of there way to make sure I was taken care of. The rooms are quirky and unique. They have everything you need for a simple nights sleep. This is not the Best Western. If that's what you're looking for. This is a unique and authentic place with loads of character. I had to leave early in the morning to catch a train, and the owner got up extra early to make me breakfast and then drive me to the train station. Incredible hospitality. I look forward to staying with them again.
This was a great visit from start to finish. Michael, Tony and Sarah were excellent hosts, providing exceptional hospitality. They made our stay special and unforgettable. The proximity to the south shore of the Gaspé Peninsula was also vey helpful, allowing us to spend a little more time touring the beautiful Gaspé Peninsula region.
Convenient location and great service
Quaint period B&B with great service. My only complaint is the inability to pay via credit card.
When they set a time for breakfast they should meet that timing. People count on those timings to plan their departure and day.
Perfect location, very clean, beautiful heritage house, and very friendly staff:).
Toom: good place for a 1 night. Breakfast is very good.
New Friends in New Brunswick
A quick stopover here after a long drive from southern Quebec, I was met by Michael who was warm and welcoming and shown to my room without delay. Charming boutique inn with a family touch of hospitality. Sarah served an excellent pancake breakfast also. Met some interesting fellow travelers who shared some tips. I'll definitely consider Maison McKenzie for my return trip!
An old style B&B that has style
A very friendly and helpful host. Stepping into the building is like going back in time. It is decorated with all manner of bric-a-brac and period pieces. The furnishings tastefully reflect a bygone era. The Flower Room has a four-post bed and a new ensuite bathroom. Everything was clean and odour free. The WiFi was good and there were sufficient power outlets. There were two lounge areas available and an excellent breakfast was served in one of two dining rooms.
Full of character, in a good way. A very warm welcome from a host who clearly enjoys people. Delightful house full of interesting objects. A little noise from floorboards and plumbing but nothing that disturbed our sleep. Recommended!
Definately recommeded!
The McKenzie is the loveliest B&B we have ever stayed at! You are not only staying in a georgeous room (every room is furnished and decorated differently), one is also guest in a kind of private museum. The double bed in one of the rooms (flower room) is a bit small though.
Quaint traditional bed and breakfast.
A very traditional bed and breakfast. Quaint with lots of nick nacks around, not necessarily my choice but some people may like them. More than adequate continental breakfast with freshly made crêpes and maple syrup. Would certainly come again.
The room was very comfortable with a great bed! The breakfast is just delicious with self-made jam and pancakes, you will find anything you need for a good start in your day. The stuff is very friendly, the owner Michael did many jokes and amused me a lot. Don't miss to talk to his mother, a lovley lady who knows so much things and she loves it to take care about the guests. Great stay, great people I can just recommend it for everybody! Stefan
Great but noisy
Great night. But we heard the breakfast-room very loud and early in our room.
Was easy to find . The food &service was good. Excellent Hosts
Friendly hosts
Great! Awesome breakfast in the morning, friendly family, exactly what I needed before starting around the Gaspe peninsula!
You get what you pay for
Room was small, bed squeaked very every move.External door creaked very loudly every time it opened/closed- some maintenance needed.Staff helpful.
B&B with character
Had a pleasant overnight stay in this welcoming B&B. It is an older house but was very comfortable. Staff were pleasant to deal with.
Perfect stop over
Charming host, fascinating house, very comfortable.
Character house with comfy beds and nice owner. Would come again! Yummy breakfast with fresh eggs and homemade jams. Parking is a little tight, but can be workable.
The house is very beautiful. Very nice owner. Awesome breakfast including pancakes, yummy jam, bread, lots of cerealsm juide and coffee. Beautiful rooms with comfy beds. Inform the host about your time of arrival.
B&B in Campbellton
Old house with second story fitted with 5 rooms, dining area. Most rooms have ensuit bathroom. Set up with antiques and period decor. Parking, while free is inadequate. Despite telling owner of need to leave parking area at 0545 I was blocked in and had to wait for 0800 breakfast person to arrive resulting in having to change starting time of river trip. Owner did not answer cell or house number. Breakfast unlike most B&B’s. Pancakes and/or cereals only. Ten boxes of open cereal for self serve. Room was very very small and no air movement or windows to open.
great places and will be back staff are great places is clean
On a road trip through Campbellford. This was a quaint old house, family downstairs , rooms upstairs. Beautiful old but comfortable furniture. Spotless clean great bed great breakfast included Note cash only
We got there in rainy conditIons and the host was not available so we had to go out to dinner and come back.
It as good, squeaking floors, but very clean and close to things
