Very comfortable, well-equipped apartment

Robert was a most friendly and helpful host, as well a a great photographer! The apartment was beautifully decorated and well- equipped ( including a much appreciated washer and dryer) and had a lovely garden.

A lovely spot near hiking trails

Everything was clean, and very convenient. Host was helpful and extremely pleasant.

Too nosey!

I called to let Robert know that we would possibly be arriving late and if he could please leave the key under a mat (we had been touring the North Island for a week and every place we stayed at did this) He was put out that we were arriving late his tone was rude and he wouldn’t leave the key - according to Hotels.com the check in time for this property was until 9pm but he said we had to be there by 7pm and that he would have to wait up for us - he implied it was an inconvenience for him to wait up and wasn’t safe to leave the key under the mat. We got there at 7pm and we felt he was very nosey - wanted to know how we got there so quickly we must have been speeding, where the other person in our group of 2 couples was (she was sitting in the car) just in our business and it felt uncomfortable.

It was very comfortable, warm, clean, affordable, and a very pleasant owner

When arriving at the property the owner immediately came out with a set of rules, hardly one foot in the door. Very intrusive.

A wonderful prime 2-bedroom well-furnished, clean, secure, roomy and comfortable apartment with great amenities. Great value. Away from the crowd. Private. The on-site owner/caretaker Robert excelled in providing for our needs and privacy. Located away from Auckland city and its congestion, but with easy free-way access. As a first time "left side of road" driver from S. California, I was more comfortable getting around in our rental car during our outings. Plenty of food resources within short km/mi. Thank you, Robert! Your guests from CA, Rick and sons.

We were pleasantly surprised with this accommodation. We needed a place for one night and I could've stayed more. The bed was comfortable and it had everything there for a home away from home. The pull out bed isn't the most comfortable bed but those things never are. Would stay there again.

Robert was wonderful! We were there during the monster rains and he took such good care of us!

Great location and it was very clean and tidy with a spacious kitchen and lounge with great sized bedrooms and an awesome view over the bush. Great friendly host the was very helpful.

Beautiful, spacious place. You guys thought of everything. Only suggestion would be to change to door on the spare room as it is transparent glass.

This was a great place to stay-especially with two children. The unit was clean and tidy with an amazing VIEW!! The unit had a heat pump which was great as it was winter time when we stayed. There were plenty of blankets and pillows as well which was great. Robert was an amazing host!! He was very kind and friendly. He checked in on us during our stay to make sure we were okay and left us to it. He also took care of our left over food from our stay which was great as we were flying out and had no idea what to do with it. So not having to worry about that was one less stress for us. Thank you Robert for making our stay such an enjoyable experience!! We are definitely coming back to stay in the future. We would definitely recommend this place to stay to others!!

Lovely quiet accomodation with the host being really friendly and helpful. If you want peace and amazing views this is the place. Certainly be back.

Loved the location and scenery. Wished we could have stayed longer.

It was very cozy, relaxing and a wonderful surprise as to where it is located.

We loved the calm surroundings, and beautiful nature views. The unit was very spacious. We felt welcome. We didn't like that the toilet wasn't private/ separate from the rest of bathroom and laundry, but we managed being family. We also found the drinking glasses not sparkling clean (it needed a wash in the dishwasher) and the cupboard where the crockery and glasses are kept was a little dusty

I have stayed at many hotels over the years and this tops it all. Facility was wonderful. Clean, Luxurious, Comfortable, Well stocked with amenities. Staff was friendly, kind and helpful, I would return to New Zealand just to stay here again.

Unfortunately disappointing for the money spent. Looked reasonable upon arrival, however after spending some time in the room discovered it wasn’t very clean, hairs on bedside tables and sheets, very dirty under the couch (discovered when I accidentally dropped my phone in the pull out bed) and dead ants all around the bedroom floor.

A quiet and peaceful oasis in the hills, with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing getaway. The unit is well set up for a couple, and the bed extremely comfortable.

The environment is so romantic and really cool. Can go to nearby bush walk and beaches

great location if staying out west, off Swanson end of Scenic Drive, quiet, private, the two bedroom apartment is massive. good outside patio,nice outlook, and a cool pool. nice touches with the prints and art work on the walls.

Great One night stay, could of stayed longer!

Great place to stay, well located to bethalls beach and piha beach. All the facilities you could need for self catering. Clean and comfortable. Robert the host is welcoming and has lots of knowledge and advice to explore the area.

Robert is the perfect host. Well laid out apartment wth an excellent kitchen but it could do with a door between the bedroom and lounge. Also needs a good spring clean.

Had a great nights stay. Was as advertised.

Stunning location, friendly & helpful host & comfortable and roomy space. Only 25mins from Karakare beach - a must see!! 30mins to Auckland city.

Stunning views

We stayed at Mason De Rose on our first night in New Zealand and we had the best experience. The room was comfy and clean and even had a washing machine! The view was amazing and Robert (property owner) gave us great advice to visit the Ganet Colony at Muriwai Beach which was just breath taking. We highly recommend this property and will definitely visit again.

Fantastic little place. Loved how quiet and pleasant it was. Was nice and close to Bethalls beach for us and handy to plenty of places to eat and shop.

Lovely and a great host!

Lovely accommodation nor far from Auckland but feels like a lofty escape. The host was very helpful; he listened to our interests and gave us great advise. We are into hiking and nature walks and his suggested walks, which we had not heard of on our own, were wonderful!

Only down side was no sky!! In this modern age a two bedroom unit could have done with one ensuite

Waitakeris is a véry special place to visit.

We had a nice stay except there was a smell the whole time we were there..been damp musty. It was not very clean especially mold around the windows. The views were nice a bit over grown.

A hidden gem

We were looking for a motel close to family in Swanson. Driving up the driveway, the outside was pretty much what we expected - oldy worldy and not too flash, but the gardens looked nice. What a surprise we got in going into the unit. Extremely spacious, two sizeable bedrooms, dining area, office area, a great kitchen and lovely lounge area. Moving out to the front of the unit, we were greeted with fantastic views of native forest and hardy a house to see for miles. The outside area was relatively private and led down to a good size swimming pool.

We were very pleased with the apartment and the owner was very helpful. Place was very clean had all the necessary supplies that were needed for the week. One time when we found that Wi-Fi wasnt working, owner made sure that it was fixed and checked back with us to ensure that everything was ok
