We loved our corner balcony room, just as pictured. The balcony was huge! Yes, there is music well into the night, but that didn't bother us at all, as we were aware of such beforehand .... just part of the street atmosphere. All staff we interacted with were very welcoming and helpful! A great stay!

I had booked a standard double room with this hotel but when I arrived, they told me I had been placed in an apartment across the street. This apartment required four different keys just to get into the room. The entrance was in an unsafe alley where people were smoking hookah in a van out front all night. The trip up the stairs to the apartment was very steep. The apartment itself was beautiful, but it smelled strongly of dog urine and the air conditioning was broken so two industrial fans had to be run all night. And the windows were open, which meant a lot of noise from the nightclub downstairs. A bunch of things in the apartment were broken, including the air conditioning, the shower door, some of the outlets. I complain to the staff and they tried to address the smell with an oil diffuser, but there was nothing they could do about the air conditioning. And the smell really didn’t go away. In the morning I coordinated with the staff and Expedia to get a refund on my second night and state somewhere else. I was not happy with the hotel, but the staff did really try to address my concerns to the best of their ability. I really feel they need to deep clean this apartment and not be double booking on travelers / putting them in alternative lodging.

The hotel itself and the staff were great. Hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful. However the noise from the bars around the hotel especially on a Friday and Saturday night is outrageous. Its really difficult to get any sleep at night due to this.

I stayed at the Hotel on a business trip for several nights. The staff, rooms and cleanliness of the hotel were of a high quality. I was particularly impressed by the helpful attitude of the staff. However, I cannot support staying there again due to the very loud music being played at the club/pub below the hotel until 2-2:30 in the morning that reverberated throughout the hotel, every night. I was told that in some cases that the very loud music can continue until 4 in the morning! Clearly, the management of the hotel is either unable or disinterested in solving the matter of the very loud music. Furthermore, it is disingenuous to advertise the hotel and not mention the problem with the very loud music. I was only warned about this when I checked in. Once again, thank you to the staff for their helpful attitude. I cannot say the same of the hotel management in solving this matter.

the rooms are fairly adequate, and staff are polite. However, the property sits in a very noisy neighbourhood with a lot of loud noise from bars and night clubs throughout the night. The loudest techno music comes from a property directly below the property. The wall of my room room shook every night all the way to 5 or even 7 am. Ear-plugs, a/c and closing windows did not help. The staff tried calling the noise police and that did not help either. I am surprised no one has mentioned this, and that Expedia are marketing it all.

In addition if you are a light sleeper do not book this hotel as there is pub downstairs and night club across the street. The noise from the club and cars will be there until early mornings.

Should carry health warning above night club. Floor literally vibrates until 2am. Impossible to sleep had to move. Plus no provision for load shedding so having to stumble around in the dark. Really only for people that want to go out clubbing until 2am. Not staffs fault but Expedia should warn not for kids or anyone that wants any sleep at night.

Terrific choice for Cape Town

Great hotel - really friendly staff and super location right in the heart of CT, walkable to tons of nice restaurants. The hotel is beautifully done -- extremely clean and gorgeously decorated. Our favorite part was the view of Table Mountain from our room and from the front balcony. The only downside is that there is *no* door/curtain/anything separating the bathroom from the rest of the bedroom, which is awfully awkward if you're not traveling alone. Other than this, no complaints!

A pleasant stay

Long Street itself is getting a bit seedy. The hotel does not provide meals, but there are of plenty of restaurants nearby within walking distance. We found an exceptional one for dinner, and another fine one for breakfast. The hotel lobby does have some snacks (some free, some not) and free tea/coffee. The rooms are two floors above the street, and no elevator. Great personal service. Rooms are spacious enough, but not huge. Supposedly there are potential issues with late-night street noise due to bars and clubs. They will even provide earplugs upon request. But we stayed 4 nights and never had any problems.

A pleasant stay

Long Street itself is perhaps deteriorating and maybe getting a bit seedy. The hotel warned us about street noise from bars and clubs, but we never had a problem in 4 nights. The hotel provides no breakfast, but we found a nice spot walking south on Kloof Street . Our room was two floors up from the street , no elevator. One warning is: don’t use an ATM after dark on Long Street. We tried and were almost scammed by two men trying to “help” us use the machines, which are really just standard ATM machines, in English.

This hotel is a good find upstairs on Long Street. This section of Long Street is a bit gritty (be cautious walking around at night and very early in the morning), but the hotel itself is lovely. The staff is unfailingly helpful, caring, and friendly. They will gladly call you a cab or Uber, or will make dinner reservations for you. The room was beautiful, with a sliding glass door opening up to a simple patio with a couple of chairs. Good-sized bathroom, comfortable bed, and everything was very clean. Eat at the terrific Royale Café across the street, and if the waitress recognizes you walking about town later in the week, she will be sure to say hello. Also walk up the block and eat at Mustaccio's. Excellent coffee and breakfast. We regret we were not able to return for lunch, but we have no reason to think it would disappoint in any way. Go up Kloof St (extension of Long Street) and enjoy a fancy dinner in funky Kloof House. One could stay in more genteel parts of the city, but this is a good find.

A comfortable and friendly place

Staying at the Long Street Boutique hotel was a distinct pleasure. I spent two weeks in Cape Town, and stayed at the hotel for the entire trip. The staff was extremely helpful, and so pleasant. It was like an extended family, providing advice and help with booking outings and providing recommendations. The room had everything I needed, and with the double layer of doors to the balcony adjacent to long street, very quiet. Long Street is quite a happening street, and Capetonians like to party, so the ability to have a peaceful quiet room was awesome! I especially loved having the large balcony to sit outside and have morning coffee or on evenings when I was in the mood for a glass of wine and a good book. The city and surrounding little towns, and of course the landscape, are unbelievably beautiful, and the hotel location was perfectly situated to provide easy access to everything on my list of to-do's. The Euro Haus cafe and bakery, located about a block from the hotel, was my go-to for great breakfasts and simply sensational baked goods. You gotta go! I heartily recommend the Long Street Boutique Hotel to anyone coming to Cape Town. It's perfect for those who want a well situated base of operations for their trip.

Not suitable for business travellers

The Long Street Boutique Hotel is a pretty hotel stuck in the middle of one of Cape Town's busiest party hubs. No matter how pretty it is, it can't avoid getting tangled up on Long Street's loudness. While the hotel has very nice decor and my room was comfortable, and there are nice staff around to help, I couldn't get around the constant loud noise and music from the bars next to it. I wore earplugs to sleep, but could still hear everything at 4am. Breakfast is served at a cafe which is under 5 mins away. You can only spend 60R (coffee and bread). Wifi didn't work in my room so I had to sit in the lobby in order to work. If you're on busines, then definitely not your option. If you're in party mode, then maybe yes.

Watch out for flea bites and muggers!

Had to move rooms as we got flea bites. Only a verbal apology from hotel despite the receptionist saying he was looking into ways of giving a financial apology. We were given a second room that was OK - although very small in size. Hotel overall just OK but nothing special. Hotel was economical with towel washing, even if you left the towels on the floor and glass wear that was used never got washed. Another guest staying at the hotel was mugged at knife point not far from the hotel during daylight hours. The noise levels from the rowdy bars outside wasn't too bad but the taxis beeping in the street outside at 4 am could sometimes be loud.

In the thick of it!

Cape Town has changed over the last few years - this is a fantastic boutique hotel which is right in the heart of it. From the balcony in our room we could see Table Mountain, but also up and down Long Street, which is BUSY with people for probably 20 hours a day. It's not quiet and peaceful - but if you want to be in the thick of it with staggering distance to a great variety of restaurants, live music and many bars, this is a good place to be. You might need earplugs for a good night's sleep - not from noise inside the hotel, but because it is all happening around you - and when it stops happening you have the corporation dustcarts clearing it up... Fantastic friendly and helpful.

Good Clean Place to Stay with Internet Issues

Some previous hotel patrons have mentioned the party neighbourhood - which I was aware of when I booked, but thicker walls and windows to keep out the sound keep out the internet access - which I needed early in my trip to set up some final vacation plans. It is well situated to the Hop On/Hop Off Bus and there are restaurants and bars nearby. The room was clean, nice TV when I just wanted to chill, and they kept it clean. Laundry was delivered on time. About what I was looking for, but very poor internet access in the room (you have to sit in the lobby), but this has been true for every southern African hotel I've stayed in, so I'll set my expectations lower.

Central position but noisy street

+very well located, right in the center. You can reach by foot Waterfront and the Table Montain Cable station if you like to walk. The staff is nice. -very noisy in the evening until 4am, I sometimes felt that I was sleeping inside a club. No elevator to reach the reception that is located on the first floor. The breakfast is served in a coffee shop located two blocks from the hotel.

Cute hotel in a bustling area

I stayed for one night but it was a very comfortable stay. It's a small hotel on the first/2nd floor (so you have to walk up) but the rooms are beautifully designed and has a very homely feel. The huge bed and pillows are incredibly inviting. Smallish room, warm but there is an air-conditioner. The bathroom is spacious and the shower (with a wide powerful showerhead) is excellent. The best part is the staff. My very heavy bag was carried all the way up and the gentleman was very polite and kind. I had to check out at 3am and the lady was incredibly sweet, and was not groggy at all when I woke her up. She even carried my very heavy bag down the stairs with no complaints whatsoever. She waited till my taxi came. The staff could not have been more helpful. The location is an incredibly busy one, on the same road as the famous Mama Africa restaurant. There are plenty of bars and restaurants. Even at 3am on a Saturday night the streets were alive and looked like it was still 9pm. I would say it is a little unsafe but that's every place in South Africa at this hour. So if you like to party, this is the street for you. The management has obviously realised that the noise from the bars and restaurants can be a problem for guests at the hotel so they were in the process of installing some heavy duty triple glazed windows to keep the noise out. They even promised me a 100Zar refund because of the noise from the cconstruction! The windows will definitely help. Very comfortable

Long Street Hotel

I would recommend the Long Street Hotel to anyone staying in Cape Town, The hotel is located on long street and is within walking distance of a number of bars and restaurants. The hotel staff are welcoming and very friendly. The room was clean and well furnished, the bed was very comfortable! Be aware though it is noisy at night being on long street.

long street boutique hotel

Very much enjoyed our stay there! For the price the room is very quaint and charming, location is perfect for strolling, shopping, eating, catching a touring bus and a short cab ride to the arbour, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is superb although a few more choices on the menu would have been a bonus. I would highly recommend for the 20 to 50 age group although I am a little older lol I loved to people watch on their lovely wrap around porch! Thanks for a memorable visit to beautiful Cape Town

Voyeurs Only

We booked this hotel as last-minute alternative for our final 2 days in Capetown after our initial plans for accommodation fell through. Because we would be arriving after 9pm, we tried calling the hotel in advance to make sure they don't have a cut-off time for check-in, but we couldn't find a working number for the hotel ANYWHERE. The number on hotels.com and tripadvisor.com was not in service. 30 minutes of online searching we still couldn't find any way to contact the hotel. Eventually the hotels.com support line was able to confirm for us that we would be able to arrive late without issue. We checked in and the night time attendant showed us to our room, which was a small but nice room characteristic of a boutique hotel. It was extremely loud due to the bars and thin walls, but this is expected given the location. The dealbreaker for us was the large 10-ft windows overlooking Long Street and facing several multi-level bars directly across the street. Hundreds of barflies had a direct line of site into our bedroom and bathroom. The windows did not have any curtains at all either, though a make-shift 4ft divider with see-through material had been propped in front of the bathroom window. There were no other rooms available, and after some heckling with the attendant he relucatantly called the hotel manager, who agreed to give us a refund. Unfortunately, we still haven't received the refund and the hotel is now refusing to process the cancellation.
