My family and I were not treated well. Very dissatisfied with the “all-inclusive” when the food options were limited. In addition, we experienced a difference in the level of service compared to our white counterparts. We noticed white people were getting service quicker. My brother was told to head back to the his hotel for dinner because he was wearing shorts. However, the provided legs covers for white males wearing shorts. Definitely will not be coming back.
The descriptions available online were quite limited so we were not sure what to expect. We (2 couples, 2 kids) stayed in one of the Residences which was great - 3 large ensuite bedrooms and large living/dining area, but no kitchen facilities or dinnerware which was unusual if one assumes 3 couples or other group may be sharing the space. It is a private, stand alone building just a short walk to the main hotel and the pool was deep and good size. The beach in front of the hotel feels private and small with coral reef so one must walk around the corner for safer swimming. The reef itself extends far into the ocean and is a wonderland of life. Footwear is highly recommended as you are walking along coral, rocks and past urchins. The men all along the beach can be very pushy and will want to guide you along a trail to the end of the reef - in this (only this) respect, they were valuable and great with the children and safety, and expect to be paid. Some of the men in front of the hotel are organized, not working independently, but as part of semi 'organized crime'. Sad, but be alert. We only dined at Horizons and found breakfast and dinner quite good, but dinner was definitely on the pricey side for Kenya. I ordered a couple of cocktails at the pool bar and suggest that you order your alcohol and mixer separately. They automatically charge for doubles, and whatever is in the bottle does not match the label. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.
Overall pleasant stay.
A very large property with very well kept gardens. The whole facility was clean. The bathroom had salt water from the tap and shower. That does not make you feel very clean. Dinner was not until 7.30, late for kids and everyone was waiting in the lounge for dinner to start. The pool and surround were beautiful and overall the staff were attentive and helpful. The beach is rather rocky and a bit of a pain to get into the deeper water.
Awesome location for a relaxing stay
Had a great time at Leopard Beach Resort. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent with plenty of options at each meal. The facilities were in very good condition and the beach was beautiful. Would highly recommend the resort for a relaxing break!
Villa and Sauna
The Leopard Beach Resort and Spa had a magnificent villa. It was large, clean, and reminded me of home. There were 3 bedrooms and each had its own bathroom. The resort had several restaurants as well as a gym, spa, and a sauna. I will be back again.
Amazing experience, thank you to all the staff.
This place had everything we needed and more. A short walk to a 24-hour grocery store and I can’t say enough about the caring staff at the resort. We will definitely come back!!
I would have given this Resort 5 stars, but sadly, here goes. I was a woman traveling on her own, unfortunately, I was a target for the wait staff as wanting "company" after hours. My husband did not make this trip, and I'm not one to be unfaithful. I'm a light sleeper and was woken by someone trying to come into my room. The first night I disregarded as another guest having the wrong room; however, 2 nights in a row was suspicious. I positioned my chair under the door handle as a safety precaution. My last night, I did not feel like paying full buffet price as had little appetite. There was no other option! I would suggest maybe a salad bar for those in a similar position. Otherwise, the staff were friendly. For those traveling to Kenya for the first time, may I suggest if paying in USD, have a converter app. Or change your money for local currency. My trip was unplanned and last minute. Don't forget to haggle.
Overall stay at the property was good, but the food at the main restaurant was bland or over-salted. So many flies in the dining area, especially in the morning.
Highlight of my 2023...especially the staff 👌 and scenery ❤️
Staff were absolutely amazing and the property was excellent! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
holiday experience
The Hotel is good and in a super location, i have returned back to leopard beach after 15years, the rooms are amazing very very spacious and fully refurbished and clean. the beddings are goods, teh reception team and staff are good... The amenities in the hotel needs to be looked into, the pool needs to be redone as the access in to the pool and out of the pool is very difficult as the stairs and rails are old and high for the young and very difficult for the oldies also risky and one of the reason why the pool was not busy because of this..the food / catering sections through out the hotel need to be redone to latest equipment and services...the foods served in the 5 days was basically the same through out our stay with a small variation...the quality and service of the food need to be looked into...hygiene n cleanliness is low... its a beautiful property BUT needs a lot of attention. its a pity to see it going down...
We had a great time at Leopard Beach Hotel. The housekeeping staff was quite accommodating. The room was large, and the mattresses were comfortable. The bathroom, on the other hand, was not thoroughly cleaned. The food was average, and the annoying flies on the food and all over the table made for an unpleasant dining experience..
Nice hotel and staff but poor food
The room I was in was a cabin with lovely sea views and was very spacious. The staff were very friendly, especially Salome. However the food was not of the required standard. Worst of all were the pizzas. They were beyond thin, half burnt, half not cooked. They put fresh mushrooms instead of dried mushrooms so the water leaked from them and made the whole pizza so wet and soggy. I couldn't eat it. Not sure I'd go back
Great experience!
Geat place for a family hiday.
The grounds are well kept with lots of monkeys around and few gekos which is Something nice to wake up to. There is a gym and nice spa area. The rooms are good and the beach area is also nice. Aimed more at families, couples or travelling business people. Staff, house keeping and reception were all very nice. Down side is the food in resort, restaurants close early and food quality is poor. Also the bar area needs to be kept more hygenic apart from that lovely stay
Dining facilities and food were good
Snorkeling at the island was a poor day. Tide pooling a few years ago was better.
Food is too poor breakfast and dinner
The dinner by the beach. The beautiful lounges for relaxing. Good staff.
The property is big some directional signs to show where particular rooms were would help
Beautiful location Beautiful scenery Delicious food Friendly staffs
We enjoyed all the staff members and the facility. Being the off season the 3 of us got to enjoy more of the place to ourselves. They were helpful, happy to see us, and always fun. We truly appreciated Mary and Vincent, and other entertainment crew, who did such a great job showing us a fun time.
Property is really good but food is make me disappointed, if you willing to just stay with out food room are good but food is so rubbish
Return visit
Having visited LBR for over 20 years with my children and attended a family wedding, I must say my recent return was rather disappointing. Compared to other international hotels at CV-19 times, it faces basic amenities not working and certain CV -19 protections not being in place.
Leopards don’t bite!
Enjoyable short trip
Leopard beach hotel - positive & negative review
Leopard beach hotel is lovely overall, rooms were clean, the air conditioning was working well. Hotel is on the beach and the beach and hotel swimming pool are lovely. Unfortunately there is a bit of a downside, could not get adequate hot water in the shower. The breakfast & evening meals were not that great - they need improving in terms of quality and choice. We ended up eating at a nearby Italian restaurant - Leornado’s which was lovely and reasonably priced.
Everything was excellent
It was marvelous I definitely enjoyed my one weeks stay there
GREAT!!
It was a great relaxing stay. The garden is amazing, the staff are friendly and the food was plenty.
Great overall with a few caveats
Great property, great people, great service! The tap water is saltwater, so not great on the skin and certainly not potable (signs indicating this would be nice)
overllokay
can improve on foods and general cleaning ness
Overall a nice stay in a good resort with a very good value for money. Great beach, very nice staff. Room (garden view) was nice, but i had a couple of ants at one point and the towels were a bit old. Wifi was very weak in the room and otherwise only available at the reception/lobby (none at the beach or the pool). The food was good, but not a huge variety.
Dec.2019 Stay
Overall, the stay was quite good. The staff were very friendly. Check in time - we had to wait for almost 2hrs before we got a room. No complimentary drink was offered. The room could do with some updating especially the bathroom. The beach is quite rocky with lots of coral but the grounds are spectacular and the residence villas are gorgeous!
Not worth the price
The reception didn’t provide a room until almost two hours after check-in time. They were rude and not very competent.
Friendly staff, lovely rooms, good food, great amenities.
Well kept, faded beddings not white purple color of the curtains off putting. Salty showering water Water bottles too small.
It has been a struggle for me as to what to write. We were horifically disappointed with the resort but to some degree the management worked with us. Upon arriving we noticed that the "superior" room was nothing like the pictures, the entire room was dated with cracked tiles, poorly maintained wooden fittings and no hot water. The bathroom had dirty floor prints and so we complained and as a result were upgraded to an executive room. At first entrance, this was bigger, more plush and so we accepted. we had just gotten back from 6 days in the Mara and our judgement was poor. With the management having left us, we noticed several issues. BOTH toilet seats were broken with hap hazard attempts to repair them, the carpets were not hoovered, and one of the pillows had a stain on it. this was their idea of one of their most exclusive rooms. but we looked past this and tried to have a shower. There was no hot water here either. as i stood there naked waiting for the hot water to appear, my wife managed to switch off the light in the bathroom, at which point i realised i was standing at a window which was visible from the adjacent property, and also the guard literally outside our window. I did my best to shower with lukewarm water and went and ensured that we were infact visible whilst showering....... we were. at this point i requested the operations manager again. Their response "you may leave if you want". "You can check out at your will." "The hotel was built in 1974".
Liked: easy beach access. tasty food in main restaurant, nice AC units with temperature control in the room. Dislike: had to pay for all drinking water. I understand charging guests for alcoholic drinks and sodas but, charging 350 KSH ($3.50) per liter for a basic necessity like water was stupid. Put out several water coolers in the main areas with filtered water and let the guests fill up their own water bottles through out the day. Also, in a country that already has a problem with plastic trash being everywhere, the amount of plastic waste generated by their current beverage system is abominable.
I suppose you get what you pay for
Staff are very friendly but not overly competent in many cases. Generally impressed with the food, did not get bored with buffet in 11 days. One night they even set it all up on the beach, which was very lovely. Range of wines is limited & expensive, but worst of all they store all wines in a baking hot room at about 35 C (aircon not working for weeks, no urgency to fix it). Could not get anyone to understand that this is ruining their wine stocks & that cooling a few of the whites in a fridge will not compensate for the damage already done. Several maintenance issues with the room (eg shower having almost no pressure, most TV channels not operating/fuzzy/no sound) should not require a guest to point out. Then it takes repeated requests + several days to get anything fixed. Internet access is disastrous. 90% of the time it just does not work at all, even in the public lounge area where it is best. Room access hopeless. Business centre manager seems blissfully unaware of problem. A bit disappointed with lack of available equipment compared to what is standard (& included) in other Kenyan beach resorts eg. body boards, windsurfers, canoes, bicycles, etc. All of these had to be hired at very high prices from 3rd party providers. Kids club a big disappointment; staff have to be cajoled to run it at all, despite detailed advertised "programme" Great to have so many monkeys close up, but don't leave patio doors even slightly open. They clean out any available food in minutes!
Beautiful grounds, very friendly helpful staff, interesting food, beautiful theme nights
Good value. Food was good, staff friendly and courteous. Nice beach a little rocky water shoes recommended. When tide is in it is very private it keeps the venders away.
OK but not great
The beach is very nice as are the pool area and the dining areas and bars. Décor in the rooms is dated and in some respects getting a bit shabby. The two twin beds in my room were rock hard, don't know if all the beds are that way. Food is ok, not great and not bad either. There are other properties along Diani Beach that are a better value for the price paid.
All you need is great staff!
I spend a week in a standard room, it's a great resort with fantastic beach on each side and a lovely swimming pool. Food is great and the curries are absolutely fantastic. A few things look a bit tired and could do with a refresh but it won't spoil your stay. Overall this place works because of their staff, they're just brilliant!
Nice hotel staff and good facilities. Hotel next to beach. Spa was amazing. However food buffet was not great, the tap water in the room was very salty. Shower pressure was weak.
WIFI shame
The management of this famous Diani hotel should be ashamed by the infamous WIFI offered. I was for business but the lack of coverage imposed me to getting to an internet cafe for checking my emails, despite my rate beingh over 200 USD. Internet is not a plus, it is a standard in modern life, as running water !!! Instead of fixing it, I was asked to do my connections at the coffee lounge, where we got some signal, for some minutes, randomly, never reliable. It was really patehtic to see other customers, must of then tourists, searching for the best abgle to get the signal. Shameful.
Great hotel, right on beach, lots of space around pools, excellent food and bar. Staff very helpful and professional! Hope to return Trip to and from Mombassa airport should be avoided if possible TAKES TOO LONG
