Claims to have room service and doesn't. No lift despite being an airport hotel where people you know, have luggage. Ok otherwise

Nice stay at Leonardo Ratingen

I stayed again at Leonardo Hotel close to DUS airport and I was not disappointed. The staff at the reception was very friendly. I got a nice quiet room where I found complimentary delicious macarons. I will come again for sure.

Good quality budget hotel - not near airport

Not really near the airport. Staff were friendly, hotel really clean. Good sized room however shower wasn’t very good and safe didn’t work (took 4 attempts for staff to sort it). Lounge area was nice with free coffee.

The whole point in spening almost £800 to stay here was that it was called leonardo Airport hotel. Instead. 10 min uber ribe to the hotel around €15 each way. No buses near, no shops near, nothing near. Just constant taxi fares

No flexibility, I had to change the dates because of a family emergency and even though they had vacancies they refused to change the dates of my stay or give a refund

We used buses from the airport station to reach this hotel, only 3 stops away. It seems popular with those arriving by car and leaving their car during trip away. Spacious, quiet room with good heating, fridge and bath. Lovely breakfasts and dinners in restaurant which is about to be refurbished. Very good value meals for an airport hotel. Swimming pool is popular. Bus ride into Ratingen also handy. Hotel staff helpful, if not fulsome in their friendliness. Would definitely return.

Excellent as always

This hotel was good for a one night stay before departing to the airport. It was clean & spacious with easy check in and check out. The only downside was that, considering it was so close to the airport, I assumed they would have more frequent shuttles to and from the terminal. Unfortunately the shuttle times are really spaced out (I had checked out at 7:30am and the next shuttle wasn't until 9am), so I had to take an Uber. I wouldn't recommend staying here long-term just due to the distance from city center (not walkable), but for a short stay to go from the hotel to the airport it worked well.

Excellent as always

I had to stay in this hotel due to flight cancellation. It was close to the airport, very convenient and affordable prices comparing to other hotels. And the staff was so welcoming and supportive.

I liked that DUS is only 9min away. Clean facility. The night clerk did not really give good instruction how to park the car, gave me 4 cards that did not work. The next morning clerk finally explained how it works. no big deal but at close to midnight it was annoying.

No where anywhere that was walking distance and taxi prices were very steep. It was my mums 76th birthday and we struggled to get any alcohol. The bar was closed due to low staff and low stock. We werent allowed to drink in the resteraunt without ordering food and we had already eaten. We had to sit in the loby whilst being served by the waiter periodically. They also said we could drink until 1am and they closed everything up at 11pm on a Saturday night. Not happy,we wouldnt come back if you paid us to stay there!

Ich finde ein in die Jahre gekommen Haus, mit gammeligen Fugen im Bad. Ich würde es nicht nochmal buchen. Schön war das gratis Frühaufsteher Frühstück mit Kaffee und Crossiant. Ich fand es frech für den Shuttle zum Airport 5€ zu nehmen,ohne es in der Beschreibung anzugeben.

If you want to stay in the city center I would not recommemd this hotel. It is over priced and the location is mediocre. I expected much better for the price.

Your staff are a credit to you !! . Have stayed at this hotel several times and never had a bad experience. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming and really do try to accommodate the guests special requests. The food at both breakfast one dinner is really nice and reasonably priced. The car park ( although chargeable) is plenty big enough and secure. Although there is slight noise from aircraft from the nearby airport it is definitely not intrusive even for the most sensitive of sleepers

Great rooms, outstanding food!

I stayed here for three nights with my wife, and I was very impressed. Comfortable well-equipped rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast spread was outstanding, with a very wide range of options, hot and cold. On one evening we had dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was excellent. The wild boar medallions I had were as good as I have had anywhere. Well done to the chef!

Nothing unique about this property.

No amenities even a soap was missing. Bathroom dirty (hairs). Bed mattress very old and therefore very uncomfortable.

My first room still had trash fro. Last occupant and no doap for shower .Second room cleaner but also shower dosp empty. Other than that hotel was fine staff good

Great location near airport

Overnight stay in this hotel near the airport. Was a nice room with lots of space. Staff was friendly and helpful booking a taxi for our flight the next day. Bed were very comfortable! Would definitely recommend!

Business Trip - 5 Nights

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights on a business trip. The hotel is very nice, comfortable, well equipped and clean, check in and check out was very easy and fast. The evening food is good but the menu has limited choice. The breakfast buffet is very good with a wide range of hot and cold food to choose from. I would definitely stay there again. Many thanks.

Nice and clean hotel , we did enjoy the pool

The hotel is close to the airport, the drive is about 10 minutes. The service of the hotel staff was very good. Hotel by itself is a bit dated, neverthless, the room was comfortable. Breakfast was very good.

Parking should not pay as extra as I paid for my room inculuding breakfast. I had to pay 70 euro extra parking charge on top of the bill.

Nice big quiet room, accommodating staff ( helped sort a minor problem) good secure car park, ( 10€ but as hotel price was reasonable not really a problem) nice breakfast ( didn’t have dinner)

If you are going to provide water with metal caps, please also leave a bottle opener. checked in the middle of the night, couldn't find a bottle opener. Clean water to drink was in front of me, but couldn't drink. Was left helpless. The reception was unhelpful. Rude lady in the restaurant.

Good for it’s purpose and location

Our visit was more of a convenience stop as we were visiting a friend in Ratingen so we decided to stay in the area for the night. Hotel was ok met our requirements. Due to covid restrictions lots of facilities were not really available. So based on the situation I would say it was ok. Could have been a better. If in the area another time I’ll give it another try. Dave

Just Passing through !

It was functional enough. Food was tasty. Beer was good. Our driver had a hard time finding the hotel. It used to be a Holiday Inn. It is a bit further from the airport than we thought and there was a fee for the shuttle and baggage. Over all it worked fine for our needs.

The shuttle bus driver to airport was rude and did not provide any assistance to opening back of van to put your bag in to opening or closing any doors or any assistance at all

Check in greeted by rude, unfriendly man. Others behind desk as you would expect but this guy should find a new profession. Bathrooms are where I expect cleanliness the most. Shower had mold in a lot of grout between tiles. Rest of room ok I guess. Was there 3 nights, unfortunately I had to deal with mr nice guy daily. Ate in restaurant at least once per day, food average, server was kinda rude. Finally had enough of being treated and kinda snapped back, she apologized and brought me some shots of something to make up? I font like shots of anything but looked at as an attempt to right wrongs. Breakfast buffet best I’ve had at any hotel ever. Lots to choose from. Anyway, I wouldn’t stay there again if it was free

Large airy room with sliding doors to the spacious court yard. Excellent shower (above bath) and comfy bed. Very close to Dusseldorf airport. Transfer bus pick-up point was difficult to find and there are only 14 seats so recommend to book in advance.

Perfect to stay if you need to be by the airport. Staff was great, room was clean and comfy. I enjoyed the Irish pub.

They are practically an airport hotel, why do they charge for a shuttle? This should be included in the price of your stay. Think smart people! This is not a place to stay with the fam, this is strictly a airport hotel!

Highly overrated hotel. Staff obviously don’t like their job, A/C doesn’t work when it is 25 degrees!, hotels claims it is full booked while it shows lots of availablity in apps, pictures are enhanced.. thank goodness I got a very good deal and it want much worth then the $78Cad. I paid for.

Staff were lovely, the food in the restaurant was excellent and again the staff very kind and helpful. If only the mattress hadn't been so lumpy and worn out in our room! Everything was clean and lovely. We just didn't have a great nights sleep because the mattress was not comfortable at all. Otherwise great location and place.

Needed a last minute stay after a change of flight and this hotel was excellent. Arrived late and so not many hours to experience the facilities which was a shame. Would stay again

There was not much wrong with the Hotel. The surrounding area is bleak and unattractive. The Restaurant serves a great Hamburger that is large enough for two.

It would have been a better stay had the mattress been more comfortable (the springs were coming through) if it had a layer of padding over the sleeping surface.

Excellent rooms, good value for money. Ideal for overnight stay if you are in and out of DUS. Good bar / restaurant and pool. Staff are very helpful and there is aa regular shuttle to and from airport. Train connections from there to everywhere should you be staying longer.

Calm atmosphere, staff very helpful, really nice breakfast, good bar, rooms a good size, clean. The only slight negative is that general areas could do with some redecorating but this doesn’t detract from the fact it’s a really nice place to stay.

Very noisy, couldnt sleep well, Expensive car parking and long distance from Carpark to hotel reception. Didnt get wake up call. Very poor WIFI

I was given a room at the ground floor with French windows facing the car park. I did not feel safe there so I explained the receptionist and asked for a different one. I was given one on the ground floor again, this time it was a completely last room on a corridor, very secluded, French windows facing another car park and on top of that the heating was not working properly and the room was freezing. All over not a nice experience.

Leonardo Hotel

Nice hotel but still needs some touch up. Breakfast was excellent and shuttle to the airport was convenient, even at a small cost.

The hotel is nice, and the staff is very helpful. My flight was at 9 pm, and they not only extended my check out until 2 pm, but also kindly allowed me to use sauna and rest area after the checkout.

"Cool" hospitality

I need to change room two times due to the toilet is out of order (1st room) at one night during my ten days trip. Front desk sent housekeeper to check for me. She said it cannot be fix shortly according to technician so gave me 2nd room key. It is nightmare to pack and unpack stuff in the middle of trip. However, 2nd room's heater is out of order (outside temp is few degrees only in early Dec). Housekeeper asked me to stay in room and will inform front desk the case. So I wait .... wait .... 5 mins 10 mins 15 mins 20 mins. I tried to call front desk but no one pick up the call. When I went to front desk and asked them to check the heater, they showed impatient and just offered me a portable heater. I asked for change room again. Although they finally change it for me, but such a "cool" hospitality in this hotel. p.s. this is an old hotel. seems more than 30 years.

Surprised !

Very very upset at my check out .... I chose this Hotel strictly for “ free shuttle “” from airport with price range .... I passed another lesser priced hotel because they specified charge for Shuttle To my chagrin ..the reception asked for 5€ .. for shuttle ride back to DUS . My sole reason to pick them was the Shuttle being free....

Annoyed they list airport shuttle - then find out it is $10 per person and only allowed 1 piece of luggage! We ended up getting a cab.

Hotel close to the airport

This hotel since being taken over by a new owner has gone down in quality. this time I was refused entry into the very large car park on the grounds that they had overbooked to many people who just wanted to use the hotel car park as an airport carpark, therefore hotel gusts had to park on the street or in unoccupied business car parks. this was resolved but not before long discussions with the duty manager. As I was working in the area for the week this was unacceptable. The rooms have been getting smaller each time I stay there.

Stayed there for business but the car park is full due to it being used by holiday makers as it’s close to the airport so you are told to park on the surrounding streets! Restaurant in the evening is poor. The bar has very limited menu.

A nice surprice

Though the rating was not good, I took a chance at this hotel. It turns out not only it's a bargain, but great service too. Since I have an early morning flight and have to leave around 4:20 am. The hotel has the airport shuttle service designed for that and is conducted very timely (a small fee is charged and well worth it). The restaurant and front desk services are also great: a nice surprise after reading so much negative comments about the hotel.

Very handy for business trips

Since the change from a Holiday Inn to a Leonardo Hotel the rooms had a small makeover. The superior room I had was small but nicely furnished, best still are the many English language channels (BBC1/2, Film4, Channel4...). Breakfast great as well. I didn't use the swimmingpool or sauna. As it's close to the airport and windows and doors are not soundproof it'll be good to have earplugs. Staff are a lot friendlier nowadays as well.

rooms not checked for use

the hotel is the same as always, but the new owners are less than professional. the first room offered had no electrical power for anything, the second room had problems with the door lock not working, which reoccurred every other day I was there and also had no hot water on the second day. although I informed the hotel staff I would be staying an extra day on arrival and again the day before my extension of stay they still managed to have me locked out of the room i was in on the extended day.

getting worse and worse by the day!!

I used to stay at this hotel a lot but the experience is getting worse since Leonardo took over the hotel! They offer free Wifi, but it's slower than anything I have ever seen in my life. Food was terrible, rooms smelled funny... I don't think I will stay there again...

Economical choice near the airport.

Airport shuttle is offered only one way, starting at 7am and is 5 euro per person. The first night we took a cab for 10.30 euro for two people and the next morning it was 14 euro (more traffic). Complementary muffins and coffee are offered in the lobby (even at 4am).

We booked this hotel because of the dus airport shuttle but found out that it is not available around 4 am. We booked two rooms (2 adults and 3 kids) and asked for a connecting door but they couldn't find two connected rooms. The rooms were on the second floor without an elevator (we had 5 suitcases). The bed was not comfortable and in one of the rooms there was a bad smell :(
