I cant say enough about the beauty of this place. Staff were great, place was spotless, view of the ocean and the beach at the same time was priceless. It's very peaceful. Amazing!! I was very well taken care of!!

I got picked up from the airport and taken straight to the hotel! Once I got to the hotel I was greeted by Richard the owner and checked in & shown to my room. The room was clean, spacious had a view of the beach and the sea from the balcony. it had a flat screen TV also and a coffee machine etc! My room was cleaned every single day & every single day I had fresh towels & tolitries! The shower was great! A Big walk in shower, the water pressure was very good & very warm if you wanted. Located just outside of la ceiba off the beaten track literally right on the beach the bar was big with a wide selection of drinks, lovely helpful staff & the swimming pool right in front of the bar! The beach & the views where beautiful!! it even has a deck with a hammock where you can watch the sun rise or set & even eat your breakfast or evening meal up there too!! & the food was excellent!. As for Richard the owner! He was fabulous! First of all he took me himself to Usha village which is about 15mins up the road & introduced me. He then picked me up later that afternoon. And arranged for a motor taxi to pick me up and drop me off for the rest of my time there. Not only that I came home one evening and he had made some fresh noni juice which he had gotten fresh from his own tree! Which was amazing! Then the day after that because I had mentioned I had never had real coconut water from an actual coconut he had one waiting for me as soon as I got back that evening! Amazing!!

Hidden Gem

This place is really quite a gem. It is in a rather remote spot right on the beach spot quite far from the tourist hubbub and that was what we were after. Really nice and helpful owner and staff. Very affordable for what you get and the owner also organizes any tours/trips for you at competitive prices. I strongly recommend the white water rafting and the zip-lining tours. The only think about the place is that because it is pretty remote, it is a bit of a trek. From San Pedro Sula airport it is between 3-4 hours driving. This will cost you more than anything else you do in Honduras. You can also actually take a local flight from the international airport to La Ceiba (20 minutes from the hotel) for about half what it costs by car. Check the local airport website at La Ceiba for flight schedules and prices. I strongly suggest you do not rent a car as many roads in Honduras do not even have names and most are not well marked.

Rough-cut jewel on the beach

Due to airline delays, we arrived after the kitchen was closed. Nevertheless, the owner, Richard, and his chef, Mia, came to our rescue. Mia re-opened the kitchen and made us delicious hamburgers. That’s the way our week at La Delphina went. We were taken care of – all we needed to do was ask. The hotel is located 20 minutes east of La Ceiba in the very safe little village of Granadita. It is right on the beach and the water is wonderful. If you are an independent traveler who is looking for a place to quietly relax, La Delphina is perfect. If you want late night partying, La Delphina is not. That is not to say that there is nothing to do. They will arrange trips to Cayos Cochinos or, white-water rafting, or hot springs or zip lines, bird-watching, scuba diving, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. The hotel is small and the furnishings are basic, but we had a wonderful time and are planning to go back next Spring. I have stayed in small hotels all over the Caribbean over the last 33 years and I have never found a nicer, small beachfront hotel, anywhere for the price that La Delphina charges.

Issues with hotel shuttle and reception

Never made it to the property due to difficulties arranging the free shuttle. They didn't show at the agreed time, didn't answer their phone all day and were rude once we finally got through. Considering the dangerous reputation of La Ceiba, we were very disappointed and wouldn't recommend,

This is our second extended stay with Richard. We like the location, accommodations and staff. We have been coming to Honduras for eleven years and have worked the northern coast, central highlands and the bay islands and this is our most favorite place to crash. The rooms are excellent and the food is the best in this area.

Exploring Honduras

It's taken me a while to write this, but wanted to make sure eventually I did because the staff was excellent. We had the place to ourselves, and loved our stay here. The long islands were the BEST. I honestly don't know how the WiFi was, as we did not need or use it here, but it made me rate. If ever we go back to the mainland Honduras again, this is where I will stay. Also, Honduras can be dangerous in some areas, we felt very safe and relaxed here. Would definitely recommend for any age group. Thank you for your Hospitality!!

Great spot to relax and not worry about anything

I got a nice deal on one night. It was a little far out of la Ceiba but a nice, comfy place to sit by the bar and relax at the pool. The beach was nice and there were a lot of shady spots with hammocks. The bar staff constantly made sure I had a cold beer and since the beers were so cheap, I lost count of how many I had. The room was nice, cold A/ C and a very soft comforter. Hot shower with great pressure.

Feel at Home

When you first arrive at La Delphina you may be put off because of the turn off from the main road. There are a lot of cows and the road is unpaved. Not to worry, when you arrive at the hotel you will see that it opens onto a beautiful beach surrounded by mountain views that are truly breathtaking . The owners, Richard and Kelly meet you at the door and the first thing they say is "we want you to feel at home." Many places say this but here they truly mean it and they do every]thing they can to ensure that you do. There is currently construction going on to add additional rooms but it does not interfere with your stay, it just makes you want to come back and see the final results. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The only fault I could find is that when either Richard or Kelly are not present, it is difficult to communicate with the rest of the staff, who are not able to speak english; not that they should have to, it is after all a spanish speaking country. We will definitely return.

The service was WONDERFUL! I cannot say enough good things about Richard (the owner) and his staff They were available for whatever you needed. Also, I stayed there without my husband for a few days, and felt very safe--which is something unusual in Honduras for a woman by herself. They were also willing to adapt the menu from the grill for whatever I had a taste for. This is a great place to kick back, relax and enjoy the beautiful views fo the water from the deck, which is really close to the water. Definitely will stay there again.

Quality time at a quality property.

The La Delphina is modern, stylish and very comfortable. The layout of the palapa bar, dining area, swimming pool and large deck overlooking the beach and the ocean is very well planned and allows easy movement throughout the premisis. The native tropical vegetation is very pleasant and well placed. The menu offers a wide variety of meals, sandwiches and snacks. All of the food is very well prepared and very delicious. I especially recommend the grilled shrimp with side vegetable and the excellent rice and beans. All of the staff are friendly and pleasant and go out of their way to see that the guests needs are met. Everything is kept very clean and uncluttered....and is homey and inviting. The owners are exceptional people. Very personable and attentive to your needs and always accomodating to provide for transportation and help in booking tours.

Great Place Away from the City

Our stay at La Delphina was a pleasure. Richard (the owner) is very personable and does his best to ensure his guests have a great experience. Please note, though, that this small B&B is actually 35-45 minutes outside of town, so be sure to call Richard when you get to town so he can pick you up. The cab drivers will rip you off! (Ours tried to charge us $80 for the ride. Ridiculous!!!) This resort is comfortable and clean, and is situated on a lovely beach. The only downside is that you are quite isolated once you arrive, leaving you with very few dining/drinking options. The B&B does offer a full menu, but the food was overpriced for the quality. That being said, this is one of the better places to stay in La Ceiba, and I would definitely stay here again if I find myself on the north shore of Honduras.

If you like your hotels in the middle of nowhere 30 min cab ride from the centre. Love a quiet beach? This place is for you!

La Delphina was very relaxing and it truly is directly on the beach - something we didn't know for sure until we saw it in person (some resorts are not always honest about "beachfront", but La Delphina truly is). I'm posting some pictures so future visitors don't have to dig around like I did. It has more of a rural setting and was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of typical tourist settings. Apparently the beach is much busier during other times of the year (we stayed the last week of December during the rainy season) but we appreciated the peace and quiet. This is a beautiful setting - the mountains are right behind you, lush green all around, and the ocean in front of you. Richard and Kelly will do anything they can to make you comfortable. They're fun, funny, interactive, interesting and the food was ALWAYS fresh and delicious. A sandbar goes quite a way out into the ocean, so the water doesn't have that typical Caribbean blue at the shore but when you walk out further you'll find it. Also - be sure to take an excursion out to Cayos Cochinos and do some snorkeling - gorgeous! As for transportation - we took Hedman Alas direct from the SAP airport and Richard picked us up in La Ceiba (slick and cheap - about 25 dollars per person for the bus plus hotel fee). On the return trip, we flew with Sosa (no bus available) - about $75/person back to SAP. Hopefully in the future more airlines from the states will fly direct to La Ceiba.

We loved the location right on the beach/seashore. Owner Richard (American) really takes good care of his guests and is very helpful with any questions you may have. He also helped us planning some daytrips and works together with a very reliable taxidriver to take you wherever you want to go. The food was great.
