Go back in time
A very historical place to stay and enjoy rest from hiking around and enjoying nature. Breakfast was great!
We have stayed here 3 times. Excellent hosts and fabulous property
Beautiful guest house. Everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and very nice. I would be happy to stay again!
We enjoyed great hospitality and a wonderful breakfast in the morning. The accommodations were historic and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Great hosts, period property, great location on quiet side street, easy walk to Echo Point and Katoomba Town Centre
It was so lovely stepping back in time it felt very appropriate for our stay at the blue mountains. A beautiful well cared for historic home in a peaceful setting. I will definitely be back!
The attention to detail, property charm and the hospitality we received was a standout. We had a lovely trip and would recommend to anyone wanting a meaningful break where quality, great service and originality matter.
Very welcoming hosts, quirky old guesthouse, full of antiques. Particularly liked the free help yourself port nightcap in the lounge.
A lovely old guest house, conveniently located, friendly and efficient staff, and tariff includes a tasty breakfast.
Beyond our expectations
Our stay was beyond our expectations. The Kurrara is a lovely, quaint old style guest house that has a lot of charm and character. It is very comfortable and the breakfast was quite good. It is also situated close to the Three Sister tracks and the old town with shopping and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and met other couples who were staying at the Guest House.
Breakfast at a weekend only available 08:00-09:00am not acceptable for a relaxing weekend away even at a guest house charging $100/ night not one charging $300/ night Check in on a Friday evening only available until 19:00 again not acceptable. Reception not actually open, had to phone then wait 5 minutes at 17:00. These times seem to be organised for the convenience of the owners not the guests. Don't book the Deluxe Double Room, 1 King Bed, Non Smoking, Ground Floor. Its next door to the Guest lounge / breakfast room and you will get woken up at 06:30 by breakfast the noise of staff walking about preparing the guest lounge for breakfast. Spa bath was grubby and lethally slippery. Decanter of port in the bedroom a nice touch though.
Delightful period property, and the hosts couldn’t be better, very helpful and attentive, the only place I think I’d ever consider when coming to Katoomba. It’s a 20 min walk from the train station and a 5 min walk to the Prince Henry Cliff Walk round to Echo Point, which is a must if you come here Can’t recommend highly enough
Charming Victorian guest house that has been restored to its former glory. Well done and friendly inn keepers with great recommendations for restaurants and local attractions.
It was very welcoming, with great staff. The room was clean and cozy.
Ohhhhh where do I start !!!! Kurrara was THE best place to stay. Such a historic guest house, with everything from furniture to teapots, all period correct. You felt like you had stepped back in time. Our room was gorgeous, bed and pillows, were so comfortable and our breakfast was delicious.. I would Highly Highly recommend staying here. I will certainly be back.
Quiet and convenient location, with a good breakfast spread. Thank you for a nice stay.
Quiet space Room offered no wardrobe no chair nowhere to put toiletries Owners were not engaging
Quaint
Cosy historic cottage at its best
Just absolutely lovely
The property (while historic), is gorgeous! Staff were very friendly and while parking inside the property was a little tight for bigger cars, there is plenty of street parking. Look forward to returning there in the future!
Absolutely gorgeous heritage property with charm and character. Loved the library and little extras - like port in the room and good quality bathroom items. Breakfast was lovely and owners friendly and helpful.
Absolutely excellent in every way - strongly recommended. OUr choice for our next visit to the Blue Mountains.
Great stay in Katoomba!
Lovely stay at Kurrara Guest House…Iain and Evelyn were fantastic hosts and couldn’t do enough to help. It’s a convenient location - about a 15 min walk from both the town centre and the Echo Point lookout. Would definitely recommend!
This is a lovely b&b, we were delighted with our stay. Welcoming host who showed us the facilities and extras in the residents lounge. Delicious continental breakfast and very tasty boiled eggs! Very happy.
Wonderful stay
We had a lovely couple of days at Kurrara. The beautiful period details and extra touches made it very special. The rooms weren't sound proof but that's to be expected at a property like this; the house has wonderful character.
Stay was far too brief and will definitely be back and stay longer next time. Very homely with lots of charm & character as well as super friendly staff.
The lodging is situated at a quiet corner in Katoomba, for those who don't drive, it is quite a far walk from the main station itself. The room is extremely small,it can get really stuffy and the window is rather small too. Toilet reeks of urine smell, and the heaters in the room were not working for us at all :( Breakfast choice is 8am-9.30am and the choices were too limted - bread, eggs, fruits, cereal and cheese. The tea selection was nice though.
Kurrara is a beautiful 1902 house, furnished in the style of the period and settled in a well maintained mountains garden. The rooms are pleasant, the dining room charming and lounge, which is pictured, is a cosy place to read, chat or watch television. It is an easy walk to Echo Point, with its views of the Three Sisters and the valley, and the walks which start there and in the opposite direction to Katoomba village, with its range of places to browse and dine. Last of my likes, but by no means least, the staff at Kurrara were pleasant and very helpful with our special requirements. They made contributed hugely to a memorable few days. We have racked our brains and can think of nothing that marred our stay at Kurrara, except the weather. We intend to stay there again and hope for sunshine.
I felt very welcome all the time , loved the sense of peace and order , had a great stay in the suite downstairs and thoroughly recommend this hotel .
Wonderful place to stay. We found the room to be exceptional and breakfast was great. Location was close to everything. We are recommending this to our friends. If you like history, this is another reason to book and enjoy
Gorgeous house, wonderful and helpful staff, fantastic location.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, this place is the ideal place to retreat. Not only is the accomodation kept immaculate at all times, the owners made me feel welcome, looked after and were a pleasure to be around. Location was an extra benefit, being a short walk to echo point and several dining and shopping venues. Would absolutely come and stay here again!!
Beautifully presented and clean, full of character and period antiques. Short stroll to town, comprehensive continental breakfast, beautiful garden, credit to all involved!
Great place to stay. Very warm and cosy with a great breakfast. Rooms and beds were very good too. Only issue was that the hot/cold water in shower was all over the place at times - but only a minor issue. Would definitely stay again and would recommend!!!
Great atmosphere and cosy
Was very comfortable with a great atmosphere… I also loved the breakfast
It is a nice comfy place - warm ambience, interesting features throughout, easy walk to echo point and town centre.
Beautiful house
Beautiful house, very well kept. Lovely hostess. We enjoyed our stay here
I love this guest house! Beautifully decorated, really feels welcoming and cosy. Lovely breakfast included which doesn’t happen often these days. Hosts are so nice!
Weekend Getaway
lovely home with nice touches such as afternoon tea facilities in a cosy living room. Comfortable bed. owners were very welcoming. overall a very pleasant stay.
Fabulous Guest House - Highly recommended
Fantastic place to stay in the mountains...great welcome and a lovely room...breakfast was really good and the staff were fab...would highly recommended for a stay...check out the art galleries in lurline Road and the sunset special at the Lockout at Echo Point is well worth it
Rainy day in the Blue Mountains
It was an extremely quiet location. The Lily room was a good size. The owner and staff were welcoming. Great selection of teas in the breakfast room available at all times. Rooms were clean and warm.
Excellent setup and very friendly hosts. Complementary cake and cookies in the afternoon and Port in the evening, with a lovely sitting room with a small library and TV room with a wide selection of DVD's. Perfect for a quite evening after a days hiking.
Great place to stay
Great place to stay to visit Blue Mountains. Clean and friendly. Great breakfasts.
Our expectations were exceeded. Loved the decor and all the extra special items.
The property was beautiful. Our room was delightful, with a lovely sitting room and spa bath with room for two. It was in easy reach of Katoomba and a short drive to the Three Sisters. The garden was lovely with the camellias in bloom. Overall a wonderful and relaxing place to stay.
Wonderful stay
Wonderful stay! Within 20 min walk of train station, town and Echo Point/Three Sisters. Much of the pleasure of your stay was simply enjoying our beautiful spa suite. Gorgeous fittings & furniture, down to Royal Albert tea setting in the room. Loved using the spa bath in our room, after a long walk in the area. Absolutely recommend. We can't wait to return!
Ian checked us in and he was very friendly and helpful. Our room was full of little extras you don’t normally get. And we loved the beautiful tea / breakfast room. They have such a large supply of tea and good coffee and just loved the afternoon cakes put out. Would definitely stay again!
The rooms were decorated beautifully, breakfast delightful, and our hosts were gracious.
Very nice old style room with 4 post bed and nice decor and bathroom. Breakfast was nice and it's in a very quiet area.
The owner was a bit gruff on the first night. It was off putting.
A well maintained clean, efficient and warm stay. There is nothing that we didn't like the breakfast and service was excellent..
Lots of character and personality. Great location and comfortable.
Charming B&B Stay in the Blue Mountains
The Kurarra Guest House is a little off Katoomba's beaten track for shopping and restaurants, but close to the natural wonders Australia's Blue Mountains has to offer. We arrived by train and walked (with bags) to the B&B. With hindsight, I would recommend taking the bus, which we did on the way out. Buses, btw, accept Sidney's mass transit OPAL card. Once there, the friendly owner introduced us to the common areas, the breakfast schedule and our room. Our deluxe suite was spacious, with a sitting room providing a beautiful view of the garden/yards. The bed was comfortable and the jacuzzi tub was just what we needed after a loooong day of travel. The breakfast the next morning was plentiful and delicious. We were able to sit in a dining area with a similar, luminous garden view. The Kurarra is just two blocks away from access to the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, which connects all the natural sites in the area. The trail itself is well-maintained but not crowded - at least when we were there in the Fall. Walk all the way to the Three Sisters Viewing area and then on to Katoomba Falls for some spectacular views. Restaurants and shopping are in the other direction just five short blocks away. Close, but not too close. Highly recommend this property for your stay!
Lots of charm and character - perfect for the Blue Mountains experience.
The historic Karrara had a cozy & homey feel. Loved all the antiques . The receptionist greeted us warmly & provided us with very helpful information on the local area. Our room was on the main floor next to the dining room. And it proved to be somewhat noisy. I could hear the foot steps overhead as well as likely preparation for breakfast in the morning in the adjacent room. Our continental breakfast was adequate but not anything special. It would have been nice to have fresh cut up fruit. . The Karrara is a bit of a walk from the downtown area & has no dining options close by.
lovely experience
quiet and private location, walking distance to town centre and main attractions, unobtrusive hosts who made us feel really welcome, good breakfast
Beautiful room exactly as described, with a fantastic old world feel. The private ensuite with spa bath was really relaxing after a long day bushwalking, and our room had everything we could need (tea, fridge, tv, dvd, etc).
Great guesthouse
Great stay in the mountains to see gardens and do some bushwalking. Central enough to walk to Katoomba for dinner and then down to the lookouts as well. Comfortable and well serviced with afternoon tea and port in the library.
Very pleasing great old style surrounding. Takes you back in time. If that's what you like then this is the place for you. Nice change from modern Hotels
Away in the Blue Mountains
We enjoyed the blue Mountains. The Guest House served a great breakfast and afternoon tea. Booking in was frustrating - followed instruction yet no one responded - doors locked and did not answer phone. The gas fire place was turned off when reception closed. Requests to have it turned on were refused. We were looking forward to sitting in front of the fire reading or playing board games. Very disappointing
Cute guest house
A very cute guest house with fantasic staff who provided free breakfast, afternoon tea, port and a huge selection of DVDs to borrow. Great location! Only thing that would improve the stay would be portable heaters in rooms because the old heaters mounted on the wall were a bit difficult to use.
Lovely atmosphere. Great value. The staff and room were lovely.
Very good hotel and service
Very good hotel and service.
A Class Above
At check-in we were given a tour of the facility. This 100+ year old facility has been beautifully renovated. The rooms are clean, woodwork is impressive, bathrooms modernized and good WIFI. The breakfast is high quality with Iain providing fresh boiled eggs. It is short walk to the bus service for Echo Point and Scenic World ( you can use your Opal card ). All staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Good historic guest house with some glitches
My experience at Kurrara was quite mixed. The Bluebell Room was tiny and lacked space for a chair or suitcase, but was cute in atmosphere with a nice garden outlook. The walls were thin and you could hear other guest's movements. Breakfast was great with a good choice of good quality food. The hot water urn however was placed a bit too high for comfortable and safe lifting. Kurrara is a bit of a long walk from the train station but it is very close to the local bus top, and the Explorer Bus which is very convenient. My shower didn't give hot water for the first two days (due to an undetected worn washer) so I moved rooms on the third day and had hot water. I was given some discount on the total tarrif and an apology, but only after a very firm discussion with the owner. It would have been more pleasant to have been offered both in a spirit of good will, rather than having to be quite firm in order to extract them.
A lovely quiet location to unwind and relax
We had a two night stay and were able to enjoy going to some of the local restaurants
Cute B&B
Cute B&B - close to town. Staff were awesome and the food / snacks were great. Make sure to try the homemade muesli.
A charming place to stay.
We loved staying at the Kurrara Historic Guest House! The Lily room with the view was dressed in beautiful antique décor, period style building was surrounded by peaceful garden and the staff were very nice and made us feel very welcome. A very generous continental breakfast was included. Overall, this hotel is very comfortable, we highly recommend the Guest House to everybody!
Ideal for town, ideal for super views!
This is an ideal guest house for anyone looking for a long weekend in this area. It is comfortable, nicely furnished in period style with excellent argentino to detail
Comfortable, clean, cozy.
We had a lovely one night stop over. It had everything we could have wished for. The room was large, bed was very comfortable with lovely linen. Bathroom a bit small but more than adequate and could do with an update. Lovely toiletries. The central heating kept us very warm. Our breakfast was superb and offered lovely fresh boiled eggs. Staff and host very pleasant and welcoming. Very clean throughout and comfortable. Can highly recommend and we would stop over again.
Lovely getaway.
We had a comfortable stay at Kurrara and enjoyed the beautiful rooms and lovely breakfast.
Quiet historic BnB
Lovely quiet garden in quiet street. Historic bnb with comfortable furnishings in keeping with the house. Small room size but adequate and comfy bed. Awesome breakfast in the sun and hot drinks available during day too. Helpful front desk staff.
Nice boutique guesthouse in the mountain area
A very pleasant experience. Nice environment and staff with warm welcome. The breakfast is well prepared and served!
Excellent - we would certainly stay here again if visiting this area.
great room plenty of character
Room was great, good old style victorian decor, we had a premier suite and it had everything you would need for a short or long stay.
lovely historical building,close to everything.
Enjoyed the experience. Friendly welcoming staff.Comfortable room and the kind of breakfast I like.
Classic oldy worldy feel.
Comfortable and warm house. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Comfy bed. Frustrating shower.
Ideal location,15 min. walk from both town centre and sights (Echo Point and Three Sisters) for those without a car. Such a lovely character guesthouse, friendly helpful staff, great breakfast with clean, comfortable and welcoming bedroom and lounge and dining areas.Loved our stay and have recommended it to friends.
Everything we were looking for
A perfect place for a comfortable weekend stay in the Blue Mountains.
Clean & friendly, easy drive to major attractions.
Clean & tidy. Friendly accomodating staff. Lovely continental breakfast. Room a bit small but was all we needed for our short stay.
Enjoyable and quiet
A lovely quiet place to stay and with lots of nice antiques. The freshly made croissants at breakfast were particularly nice!
Quality guesthouse
Beautiful guesthouse. Lovely room which was very comfortable. Loved the complimentary Port! Breakfast was wonderful. Proprietors were friendly and approachable.
Nice hotel within easy walking distance to shops
Welcomed by friendly staff. The room was exactly as described. Tasty cookies provided for afternoon tea.
Nice guesthouse in a quiet area in Katoomba
This is a true gem for easy access to explore the Blue Mountains. Located close to Echo point, Scenic World, hike to Three sisters, giant stairway, and other rim walks.
Enjoyable stay at historic guest house
Everything about this quaint little bed and breakfast was good! They have 24 hour coffee and tea available, movies and books to borrow, and afternoon tea with cookies. Stephanie answered our every question with a smile. It was a very enjoyable stay!
What a guest house should be.....
Ian and Evelyn welcomed us and made sure everything we were looking for was explained, done or followed up. Nice breakfast very easy and fantastic selections of tea's!
Comfortable and homely
Loved our stay at this lovely welcoming guest house. Bedrooms, although a little small, were very comfortable with great attention to detail in keeping with the guest house's vintage look. We arrived by train and it's a good 20 minute walk from the station, so this should be considered. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Wonderful stay
Beautiful linens, antique furnishings, great location, helpful staff, great breakfast. ...Loved this place! !!
Comfortable, clean and extremely well priced hotel
Room is small, but very clean and comfortable with good quality linen and amenities.
Lovely period Guest House
The house is in a great location, close to town. It's a lovely house and we had a very comfortable room. The staff was welcoming and friendly and there were good facilities. Not a great view per se, but a nice outlook. Thanks for a very pleasant stay.
Amazing yester year experience
On arrival I was personally shown around this beautifully decorated guest house. I was made to feel welcome and very comfortable. The two owners and staff were very friendly and engaging. My room and facilities were of a very high standard. I had crisp white sheets and a very comfortable bed. Everything was very clean and enjoyable The bathroom had all the extras and more. The choice for breakfast was excellent and far better than a motel. I am definitely going to recommend this amazing yester year guest house to both my family and friends
Classic English style B&B
The house was build in 1901 and is used as B&B since 1902 The room was cozy but not fancy Breakfast is also not fancy Location is in a walking distance to the center of Add to dictionary Ian was helpful about tracks and allowed me to use a book about bushwalks
Home away from home
Kurrarra was a beautiful home away from home. The owners were very welcoming and had great knowledge of the local area. Their restaurant suggestions were particularly good. They were very welcoming, making our stay so relaxing. Just what an escape from the city should be.
Lovely place at historical home
Room was large and comfortable, with separate sitting room. Nice and helpful staff, knowledgable of the area.
Blue Mountains Run
Very pleasant for a quick get away to the Mountains ... nice decor
Very pleasant and peaceful, good location location and well presented.
Lovely guest house, warm feel, comfortable.

Relaxed stay in the beautiful blue mountains
Evelyn and Iain were great hosts. The property is very historic, interesting and quiet. The homemade muesli was a highlight. As was yoga with Evelyn. Would love to come again for longer.
