The property was great. The room was very spacious and well equipped. Would definitely recommend.
Wonderful option for event at DuPont Circle
Food is not as expected at all. The restaurant waitress is also doing job as a cleaner. The bicycle rental is great , for 3 hours.
Some of the front desk staff was very short and rude. There was one very helpful front desk lady. The cleaning staff were excellent.
Great Location!
Very nice stay. Restaurant was terrific. Gym was OK but not great but it got the job done. The room TV didn’t work - could’ve been something as simple as bad batteries in the remote but I didn’t bother contacting the front desk so I just let it go. Great location!
Tv doesnt work and no water in the rooms
Housekeeping was poor. Old towels that were rough and frayed. Glasses never replaced. Dirt behind door when we arrived 4 days later still there. Very dark rooms. Staff was very friendly and accommodating except the bar tender on 3/31 when we arrived was rude. Probably wouldn’t stay again after what we payed. Have stayed at many Kimpton properties in the past but this one needs to be refreshed.
Very comfortable room in an excellent location
Great place, great location. Nice decor. Free drinks at happy hour is a nice touch. Water bottles in the room would have been nice.
Everyone was extremely nice and professional. Housekeeping was excellent.. Evelyn in housekeeping always went out of her way .
The staff was amazing! Very nice place to stay and location, location! Would stay here again!
Hotel was good but rooftop bar is for private parties. Restaurant is open only certain hours manager in restaurant is rude.
Very nice and attentive staff. Delicious breakfasts.
Overpriced for lack of amenities...was assigned a room on top floor...unbeknownst to us, they had a private rooftop party that kept us awake until 1am... first and last stay.
DC
They have a very strict check in time of 3:00 at which point people stand in a line in the small-ish lobby to all get checked in at the same time. Valet worked very hard but I was told upon arrival that the valet parking was already filled. My car remained on the street until they moved it later. The restaurant doesn’t open up until 5:00 and not really any place to get a drink or snack in walking distance for someone like my husband who is recuperating from surgery and using a cane.
Some basic practical items were missing.
I higher end property like this should have towel racks in the bathroom for a hand towel by the sink, and more than one towel rack for bath towels in a room clearly designed for two people. Also, the lighting at the bathroom sink was NOT adequate for shaving or any other facial needs.
Beautiful and quite place to stay!
Very comfortable room with nice desk layout (I had to work from there for a couple of days). Great location. Very nice and friendly staff. Very happy with my 4-day stay here. A couple of minor issues: The promoted roof top bar is apparently only available for private events. The room could have had better lighting. Even with all lights on it was still kind of on the dark side.
Great property, great location snd tremendous staff.
Kind staff and accommodating to our large family
Great
First Class Service
The staff was responsive and attentive, especially AZ and Donald.
Bedding cleanliness was terrible—stains on pillowcases and on bedding, multiple hair strands between bedding. It was corrected upon notification and they tried to make it right but after that I was more vigilant. The hotel is on a really busy street so if you have a street view, it will be loud. I wish they had complimentary bottle water in the room at least as a one-time offering. Decor was great, classy and moody. despite cleanliness the bed and pillows felt really comfortable.
Odd Place
Understaffed. Had front desk business 3x and each time a simple transaction took 15-20 mins because only one person at the desk. Also, phone not picked up in a timely manor. The bathroom came with 1 washcloth and 1 hand towel. Restaurant only had 1 desert on the menu. Apparently no service elevator and guests had to ride in a 5'x3' elevator with dirty laundry and F&B dishes.
My mom was scheduled to stay here January 19. Her flight was cancelled due to a snow storm. The manager refused to give a refund or hotel credit. We called the hotel a number of times before getting through. The people who work here are imbeciles. Corporate needs to clean house at this location, and expedia has to discontinue this hotel on their site.
This is a great hotel/ clean, comfortable, nice restaurant- great location
poor lighting in the room no blankets
Rooftop terrace was closed.
Roomy, clean, quiet, convenient, and affordable
It was very comfortable and the staff was helpful and personable. It is my go to place.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Banneker! It’s quite walkable to many things in DC and an easy pickup/drop off point for uber. The staff was friendly, accommodating and communicative. I loved being able to text for things we needed (except middle of the night better to call the front desk). Best espresso martini we had while in town at Le Sel. There are some things were nit picky about: room function was ok - not much of a view of anything; only one small nightstand, odd lighting throughout the room. The bathroom lighting was awful. No shelves in the shower to place your toiletries. Housekeeping was super loud in the morning which is a pet peeve. Restaurant hours were limited but food and drink were good. All in all a good place to stay but could use some functional improvements.
Staff was extremely helpful
We loved the room setup - very functional and spacious layout. The amenities are nice, and the little touches like hot apple cider were great. Very nice gym for a hotel. Central, walkable location, and being around the corner from a Whole Foods and having a little fridge in the room made eating healthy while traveling that much easier. My only complaint - we were on the third floor on the front side of the building facing 16th, and the traffic noise was VERY loud. We kept thinking a window must be open because of how much we could hear on the street. We got used to it eventually, and I slept fine, but it's worth noting if you're sensitive to noise.
Really nice hotel. Expensive. Staff was great. Free coffee in the morning. Free hot cider in the evening. Has a rooftop bar but there was a private party the night I stayed here. I hear it’s great though.
DC is a great city to visit and the hotel was convenient for my purposes
Best Staff! Hotel full with hospitality🍷
Bathroom should me impoved. Everything else is excellent
Great base in DC
Great location, friendly staff and comfortable, clean rooms make this an ideal place to stay in DC. Breakfast is delicious and nice touches like a complementary wine happy hour bring more value to the stay.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. The welcome drink and restaurant discount are a nice touch and the food was delicious.
10/10 stay. Highly recommend. The room and hotel was clean. Stay was very nice!
Great service, good room, and thoughtful service
We had a wonderful stay at this Kimpton (Banneker) in DC! This pet-friendly boutique hotel was quite good. The hotel is on a busy street, which was fine for us as our room was pretty peaceful. We found parking convenient w/ valet parking, with minimal wait times each time we used it. Our studio suite was spacious, quiet, and felt incredibly private—a perfect retreat after exploring the busy city. The room was well-appointed and the bed was comfortable, though we found the room a bit warmer than the stated temperature and kept it at 68°F overnight. As for the water pressure, it was perfect for us, with the option to adjust via a little lever if you prefer less. The staff were fantastic—always accommodating and quick to fulfill any requests we had for housekeeping items. We didn’t eat at the restaurant for dinner but breakfast was delicious, and the staff made sure our stay was enjoyable. We recommend this hotel, particularly if you’re traveling with pets. Great service, spacious accommodations, and a thoughtful pet-friendly approach made this a fantastic experience!
Exceptional service
Great location and staff attention
My poodles loved it as much as I did
Really enjoyed the vibe and decor of this hotel. It was very clean and comfortable as well. Close to Whole Foods too. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Great spot for when you need a nice hotel with your dogs. My poodles loved it!
Second time staying at the Kimpton Banneker, third time staying at a Kimpton property. Its within a good radius from where I needed to be. The rooms are great and the staff is friendly.
Great hotel, comfortable bed
Really nice hotel and great vibe. Check in was quick and easy. I enjoyed the restaurant and the location is very walkable. Would definitely go back.
So many small inconveniences that added up. Just a lot of little frustrations that a hotel in this price range shouldn't have had (No coffee or anything to drink in the room, a bed lightthat wad horrible and an end table that was wsy too small, curtains that only covered half of the window, no information and had to struggle to find ice... the list goes on.)
We had a great experience. Thanks!
One of side tables was two small. Otherwise very nice
Great hotel but the restaurant has a problem with mosquitoes.
Friendly staff, great food!
The staff was so friendly! Especially Meredith and Ricardo! We felt so comfortable with Meredith, we told her she was part of the family! The food was fantastic! We had the steak and the Crispy Chicken.
Walkable to most sights.
I booked this hotel for team members attending a conference. Upon their arrival, one of the team members called to inform me that the front desk staff had notified them that the AC was not working. Given the circumstances, they were offered a full refund if they chose not to stay. Since it was the middle of summer and uncomfortably hot, we decided to cancel. The team member was assured that the hotel would handle the cancellation. Weeks later, while reconciling our corporate card, I noticed that no refund had been issued. I contacted the hotel to clarify the situation but was redirected to Expedia. While discussing future bookings was irrelevant at that moment, I did reach out to Expedia. Their representative was helpful but informed me they had no record of the cancellation. After contacting the hotel, I was shocked to hear that the hotel denied any issues with their AC system during the dates of the stay and refused the refund. I understand that Expedia’s options are limited, but I am deeply disappointed by the hotel’s handling of this situation. I trust my team members, and as one of them remarked, "I would certainly not call our director just to make up a story and move from a 4-star to a 3-star hotel." To further validate our experience, I found reviews from other guests who also reported AC issues and poor service from hotel staff around the same time. While the hotel itself appeared beautiful, I cannot rate it on anything other than the poor service.
The beds were very comfortable. Our room fronted on 16th street and even on 9th floor the traffic noise was noticeable. The lighting in the room is “ boutiquey” and didn’t always provide sufficient light to see. Large counter/desk was great space for our makeshift food prep area (breakfast) but mini fridge is small and there was no microwave.
The room was fantastic, I had a great view and the restaurant was phenomenal. Best cassoulet I’ve ever had! My only problem was the parking situation. It was convenient that they had parking, but it was a lot more expensive than I was told. I was told it would be $55 a night, so I was expecting a $165 bill. After tax and fees the total was $281, so I felt like that number was disingenuous. Plus add tips for valet, so I spent $321 for three days. I haven’t done the research to know if that’s a good price for the area, but I didn’t like that they weren’t up front about that and I got a surprise on my credit card after I left.
Awesome
Superbe!
Great spot, clean, nice size room, location, great breakfast….
Lovely accommodations and people
Fantastic Place to Stay!!
We just LOVED our stay here. Very friendly and competent staff, comfortable and clean room, great bed, and a refrig! It was terrific.
Great staff, clean and modern room, convenient location.
I booked the property because of the roof top deck. However the roof was closed the entire weekend because they had booked private events. Also the night manager was a jerk.
You won't be able to meet the location, but this was a phenomenal stay. I will admit there could be much improvement on not blocking the elevators for an hour with housekeeping carts while people are trying to get to meetings, but overall, it was the most comfortable that I have ever slept in with the softest bedding, a beautiful setting and a really great stay.
It’s fine.
I like the area within DC that this hotel is in, it’s a bit of a walk to the metro (0.5 mi).
The AC in the entire building was broken so my room was 80 degrees windows facing the sun making my room much hotter than what the weather was outside.
The service and accommodations felt like staying in a 5 star hotel but at an affordable price. There was nothing the staff wasn’t willing to do to make our stay enjoyable. The best hotel experience we have ever had.
Convenient and Comfy
Excellent location and VERY comfortable room. Staying at the Kimpton Banneker was convenient…15 minute walk from the White House, lovely wine hour, nice selection of restaurants and bars in the area.
"...while upstairs, rooftop event space Lady Bird THE Roof Top's disarming indoor/outdoor perch encourages spontaneous connections under the stars while offering unfettered views of the landmarks that make the city so iconic." Gee, sounds great, doesn't it? Wish I could have been up there at some point during my stay. It isn't accessible unless staff lets you go there, and the hotel had rented it out 2 out of the 3 days I was there. Very deceptive advertising. Stay somewhere else where you can actually use the roof if that is at all important to you. So much for my kid getting a rooftop view of DC... which is a big piece of why we picked the property and why I gave 2 stars on the Property Condition rating. The rest of the property is fine but is not the Kimpton of old days - it used to feel special to stay in the Kimpton hotels. It doesn't anymore. It is just like another hotel these days.
part of Embassy Row. Walkable to Metro red line (but a little far). Disappointed the Rooftop Bar was not open during our stay.
There was very little shower pressure. What’s funny is the shower also had an eco mode that was basically the same as off, in addition to the regular mode that was functional but depressingly low pressure. The room was bigger than we expected and felt quite roomy. Location is great. Not the cleanest hotel room. Staff is lovely and friendly. The french restaurant on the ground floor is fantastic.
Great experience!
Amazing hotel and amazing location
Amazing service, excellent room compared to holiday inn. Loved the complimentary service of adult beverages at night and A.M. coffees. Loved the size of the room having come from New York where half of the Kimpton room was the size of the New York room. Also same cost which makes the Kimpton stay a whole lot more luxurious feeling. The hotel was amazing for location to easy food options and easy sight seeing. Beautiful hotel laid out with modern flair.
Amazing experience!
Restaurant was superb with nice French bistro food. Most of the staff were very nice and helpful.
I was very dissatisfied with my stay. I purchased a room for 2 Queen Beds; roughly $500 per night with tax; when I got to the property, they said they didn’t have any Queen bed rooms and forcefully gave me 1 King size bed with a pull out couch. It was very inconvenient and rude as my mother uses a wheelchair and there was limited space in the room. It was very uncomfortable to be sleeping on a pull out at well. And they didn’t have duvets for the pull out and just gave us sheets to sleep with. Not an experience worth $500 per night. Very disappointing!
The restaurant and all the staff
Very clean, modern, spacious and comfortable room and bathroom. Do not understand why there were reviews about shower low water pressure since the shower water pressure is easily controlled by moving a lever. Superior service. Excellent breakfast. Mustafá and Essa were very courteous at the reception desk. Amenities such as complimentary water and morning coffee available at the reception area. Complimentary wine at 6:00 pm, which we unfortunately were not able yo enjoy since we were not back to the hotel at that time.
Very convenient
nice hotel
Hubby & I were quite pleased with the service, cleanliness and staff’s timely responses throughout our short stay. We would def. book again!
Prior guest’s food in the refrigerator. Front desk staff not helpful with even the most basic requests. Hotel restaurant service and food were subpar. Not worth the price they ask.
Enjoyable stay
The hotel is lovely and comfortable; the staff very friendly and helpful; and is in a great location.
Great Hotel, Confusing Housekeeping
Fantastic hotel, and very friendly lobby staff. The room was spacious with a nice layout. The view from the 9th floor was nice too. The only real concern we had was with housekeeping. There were no wash cloths in the bathroom when we checked in. I requested three from the front desk and they arrived promptly. However, when housekeeping cleaned the room later, they removed the one that had been used and didn't replace with a clean one. Also, the housekeeper only clearned the bathroom (I was in the room working when she got there). When I asked if she would make the beds, she seemed to confer with another member of the cleaning staff in the hall as to whether she should do so. She eventually did make the beds, but the experience was a little weird. I didn't understand why she didn't do it in the first place, and then had to ask someone else about it when I requested it.
the lamp on the night stand was not working. Told the reception desk once and there was no action. It was fixed only at my second request. comforter is terrrible. It was a down comforter but the down inside was totally jammed (apparently it was not taken care after laundry). I felt cold in the middle of night because the down was not evenly spread.
AMAZING
Perfect hotel
Nice hotel in a nice area
This is a very nice hotel. Our room was very comfortable. Housekeeping was right on point. The bar and restaurant located at the hotel is really very nice. We also used the gym which met our needs. This hotel is in a very nice part of town.
The hotel was great, but the shower was head ache
Very nice hotel, clean and the room smelled wonderful!
Great hotel but rooftop closed right now
Great location, lovely boutique hotel, friendly staff and spacious room. Disappointed that the rooftop was not opened as advertised (apparently access is closed through end of May) and that the French bistro closes at 10:30AM on a Saturday. It would have been nice to be alerted of the limited breakfast/brunch hours upon check in. However, there are lots of great dining options near by to try.
so convenient to everything and easy access to everything
Just OK…
Came to DC for my husbands birthday. We love Kimpton hotels, so I figured this would be no different. The staff was very nice, no complaints there. However, the noise throughout the night was unbearable! You can hear every car, dog, siren, wind, walking alllll night! The blackout curtains helped. First night we went for the wine hour (our fav), there was nowhere for us to sit, so we had to sit in the corner of the restaurant and had to keep getting up to get serviced. We had several unapproved transactions, including being charged for the stay that was already paid for. Upon checkin, there were several issues and had to wait close to 30min while they rebooted the system. Requested to speak to a manager after our stay just to explain everything and still no call back. Very disappointed with the service as this is not the standard with any of the Kimpton’s we’ve stayed in before. Again, staff was very nice but all the other incidents added up which made our experience here not the greatest. We plan on going back to DC but not sure we will stay here again.
Comfort with class
Very friendly! Valet parking, beautiful building, beautiful location. Would stay again
It was in a very nice part of town
Overall, very good hotel but the towels in the room could use a little upgrade. They’re harsh and small.
Cute hotel
Before going to bed, I was surprised that there was no bottled water in the room and I had to dress up to go to reception desk to ask. It would be nice if the receptionist asked me if I need any water when I checked in.
Staff is excellent. Beds are not comfortable with little support. Do NOT use the ice machines. There was black fungus and slime coming out of multiple machines. Roof top was closed and seems to be close more often than open.
Would stay here again!
Friendly and efficient service at a great price.

Hotel was decent customer service in some areas could improve
