Need to improve quality of the place.bathroom sower water made wet the floor.

The location was good. Walkable distance to tourist attractions. Good dining options a block away. The place can have better lighting, clean sheets and comfortable mattress and air conditioning.

We booked this hotel from overseas based on pictures posted and the location. The location is fantastic and it is such a charming hotel but badly maintained. The standard of the property is very poor. The couches were dirty, the rooms were not properly cleaned, the appliances were broken and the air conditioner did not work properly. It is a shame that the hotel has been brought to this state. We will not be staying there again anytime soon.

Good location, decent breakfast, friendly staff. I would not recommend the street side rooms, it gets quiet later at night. Daytime is pretty noisy.

Good value place

Nice place,central and close to tourist attractions

The staff here were lovely and the restaurant served nice food. However the hotel itself is quite dirty and looks very different in reality than in the photos. Although I do note this hotel was very cost effective.

We only stayed for one night as a stop over in Kandy. Ideal location for the tooth relic, bus and train station

The location is only 10 minutes walk to the Temple of the Tooth which is perfect and it's in the middle of a multitude of shops. We stayed in the standard rooms and they suited our needs perfectly. Fabulously comfortable beds and rooms very quiet.

Needs a good deep clean.

With some elbow grease and a bit more time taken by cleaning staff and management the rooms would be more comfortable. As it stands, they are quite grubby - grime all over the light switches, water stains on both the bedside lamp shades - not sure how that happened. Splash marks of coffee and food splattered on the wall behind the bin in the room and finally both pillows were so lumpy they should have been replaced years ago. Aircon didn't put out much coolness, but the ceiling fan worked well. Service from staff was excellent at check in and out. Location is good if you want to stay right in the city, and rooms are quiet. The adjoining bar has draft beer on tap, and does a selection of meals. Overall, there is potential for this to be a reasonable hotel, if its given a good clean once in awhile.

Needs bit of an upgrade to the building but value for what you’d pay for

I had a gMy stay at the Kandy City Hotel was truly great. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, and their friendly attitude made my stay all the more enjoyable. The hotel's location was perfect, within walking distance to both the Temple of the Tooth and the lake. Despite its central location, my room was surprisingly quiet, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the city. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. Although the wifi was not the strongest, it worked well enough for my needs. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Kandy City Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in Kandy. From the friendly staff to the excellent location, this hotel truly exceeded my expectations.

The hotel is a very old one. The room was also much smaller than the the picture shown on the Expedia. However, that is not the point. The ceiling was leaking water to the floor on the night before we left. Maybe water from AC unit? The floor was wet all night. The staff were friendly most of time. But when we asked if we could reheat the leftovers food we had using their microwave, the front desk man said no giving the reason that we didn’t buy the food directly from their own restaurant. We picked the hotel because it is close to the train station. Now we knew the concern was not necessary as the tuktuk is dirt cheap there. One dollar or two could go very long way. Next time we will know better.

city center comfort

if you want to be based in the city, the location is great...a few minutes walking of the temple of the tooth and the lake. while the reception area is quite small, the hotel has about 30 rooms in the back. Our was quiet since overlooking a back street. The room was clean although they might wanna water wipe the dark floor after each customer. The room and bathroom fits the pictures. Shower system is quite modern which is not always the case in similar hotels in Sri Lanka. The bellboy took me to my room but I have no idea why...since I was carrying my 2 bags...AND the key... He did open the door though.. I'd stay again gladly.

Overall good place to stay if you are look to stay middle of the Kandy town. City centre, temple of tooth, other eateries are within walking distance. Room is ok value for money. Wash rooms are clean. Very good shower with hot water.

This place is a warren of stairs. I was given a room on the first floor. To get there I had to take the lift to the second floor and walk down 3 flights of stairs. To get anywhere you had to go up or down 3 flights of stairs. The room was tiny and located looking over a restaurant, so noisy till late. I could not get the room to a reasonable temperature. The fan and air conditioner worked but unable to make them function to give me a nice temperature. Result was a cold and cough. Not good when travelling. I would not advise anyone to go there

Roaches

Room had cockroaches, a lot of them. Was woken up at 4:30 am with one of them in my ear... Killed a few of them but couldn't really sleep after. Bathroom had pools of water on the floor as the shower leaked out into the bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful but that didn't save the stay unfortunately.

Nice hotel, good location, just a bit dated. Room lights flashed on all night had to ask technician to remove light bulb. Service good. Breakfast a little bit average for price. No easy parking for drop off and pick up or driver accommodation if traveling around with one.

Kandy city hotel was not my favorite. The woman checking me in was rude and unfriendly. However, the other staff were nice. The room was small and looked nothing like any of the photos (I had a single twin bed) the location is nice though as it’s in the middle of the city center and convenient, it’s just really busy. Also, for breakfast I didn’t have time as I needed to catch my train and they wouldn’t let me take away bc it’s a buffet. That was rather annoying since it was very early and I didn’t have a lot of time, I found that to be very unaccomodating

Labyrinth!

Straightforward no frills hotel in the centre of Kandy. Good but dark restaurant. Good basic western breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Labyrinthine layout of the building! Friendly and serviceminded staff.

My boyfriend and I had a great stay at Kandy City Hotel. We enjoy the location of the hotel, not in the middle of a tourist area but among the hustle and bustle of the city. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth is only a walk away and there are delicious eateries that are very accessible by foot. The room was comfortable, however, wifi connection had some hiccups but it wasn't a big deal at all as it was easy (and so cheap!) to buy a data pack from a shop near the hotel. Breakfast was disappointing but the service was great. The pub next door has the best vegetable tempura we've ever had. I would definitely go back to stay here because of the convenient location.

Close to the main attractions

Really comfortable hotel in the centre of Kandy, close to the Temple and train station. We had a room with a balcony which over looked the street which was great. Breakfast was served next door and was ok but not the best we had on our holiday Staff where friendly enough, although there was some confusion over room service. Room was tidy and clear, apart from waking up to the worlds largest cockroach in our bathroom Recommend and very convenient for sightseeing

Nice Hotel but Poor Service

We arrived and found that we had accidentally booked in for one rather than two. We agreed to pay more for the room to make up for the mistake. A short time after 10pm the Manager called us in our room and demanded extra money. We refused to pay and the Manager backed down. We then cancelled our accomodation for our next night in Kandy. The bathroom flooded.

Great location

Great location makes for an very easy base to explore the city for our one day in Kandy. Hotel was absolutely fine, basic ~3 star equivalent for the UK but overall 5* for the price and location.

My room seemed clean but the bathroom smelled terrible. The bad smell came from the bathroom. I couldn't stay at my room long without using fan even closing the door(but still smelled bad)

Great, comfortable and good location

Great new hotel, comfortable bed, great bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. Great location for lake, tooth temple, kandyan dance hall. Back streets are still quite authentic, great for a stroll, but also close to places like kfc and pizza hut. Only negative is the two things we asked the hotel staff for advice on, they told us very overpriced information to what we actually found on our own.

Disappointing attitude of reception

Arrived and no driver accommodation or parking as expected. Room and corridor had flooded the day before so smell was disgusting! They couldn't offer another room. Porter was going to ask for some compensation for us but management said later they knew nothing about it. By this time our driver had left so couldn't move to another hotel. Our lesson was to ask for compensation ourself right at the start. To get to room had to go to level 2 and then walk downstairs to level 1. Wasn't clear where a quick fire escape would be.

Great simple hotel in a great location

Rooms were clean, modern and very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to most places. Our room got a little noisy as it faced the street but only after 8am and before 7pm.

Nice hotel with a good location

The hotel was very nice inside and well located. The room was big and looked like a "hotel" not a guest house. Quite clean and have all the necessary amenities. The only thing was some kids had a party during the night of my staying. And they moved to the room next to mine in the midnight. I called the staff to deal with the noise but didn't see anyone coming. So it's quite loud. But in the end I just fell asleep.

Auch am zweiten Abend hatten wir Nachtessen gebucht! Erstens wusste der Kellner davon nichts und dann bat ich den Fernseher leiser zu stellen! Sie spielten lautstark Cricket. Er sagte das gehe nicht, die jungen Männer seien gekommen um Cricket zu schauen! Frage: was ist wichtiger? Hotelgäste die in Ruhe essen wollen oder Gäste die Fernseh schauen????

Buena ubicación pero rozando un tres estrellas

El hotel está muy bien ubicado. Las habitaciones están bien y más o menos limpias, aunque podrían mejorar. Mejor no mirar el exterior ni abrir las ventanas donde las aves dejan de todo y no han vuelto a limpiar desde la inauguración hace décadas. Personal amable y bien dispuesto. Organizan sillas para Esala Perahera o ayudan a encontrar sillas, pero la verdad es que merece la pena esperar a última hora finde se pueden encontrar a muchísimo mejor precio o acudir a zonas de final de recorrido donde se puede disfrutar sin agobios y gratis.

日本の古く、狭めの、場所だけはいいビジネスホテルをイメージすればぴったりではないのでしょうか。他のホテル同様、歯ブラシなし、タオルはバスタオルのみですが、冷蔵庫、金庫はあります(スリランカは同じ価格帯でも無いところがいくつかありました)。朝食は比較的種類が多く楽しめました。 今回の部屋だけかもしれませんが、コーヒーセットの周りに小さな虫が歩き回っていました。日本だと苦情を言うところですが、ここはスリランカ。虫がいない方が不思議なので気にせずワンプッシュの蚊取りスプレーで一発で退治しました。南国旅行にこのスプレーは必需品ですね。

Établissement dans le centre ville. Donc bien placé pour profiter de l'animation de la rue principale (restaurants et magasins, y a centre commercial que l'on ne voit pas avec food court au level 4 ). Pas de petit déjeuner en buffet suite au problème des derniers jours car peu de client. Le personnel est a l'écoute et gentil.

Ok for the location, but needs to shape up

Very close to City Centre mall and the Tooth Temple. Clean room and ok bed, but tiny bathroom and very worn out room, esp. bathroom and shower. The porter was very friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed to not like their jobs. Tired and silent at both checkin and checkout. Not very good breakfast, very little fresh fruit and dry bread.

キャンディの街中にありとても便利です。 ただホテルは比較的古く、増築してるような感じもしました。 部屋も狭目で、荷物を置くスペースはあまりないです。風呂場も特別綺麗というわけでもないです。ベッドにはシーツのみで、布団はなく、クローゼットに薄いブランケットのみがありました。 朝食も種類が多いわけではなかったですが、おいしくいただきました。ただ共用のティーポットがあまり綺麗ではなかったです。 最低限のものはそろっているので、ただ泊まるだけのホテルであれば、問題ないと思います。

Detta hotell var rent, fräscht och med super trevligt personal. Hotellet ligger mitt i staden vilket är praktiskt om man vill utforska sevärdheter och ha nära till restauranger. Jag rekommenderar verkligen detta boende!

市内には中心です。市内徒歩で観光には良いですね。 バスターミナルや駅から歩いていける距離では。 難点は中庭が見えるロケーションと言う売りの部屋でした。中庭ではバーの客席で、カーテンも開けっぱなしにはできません。 後当然ですが、バーのしゃべり声が気になりました。 部屋の選択をするときは要注意です。 後カンディの街は盆地です、つまり坂道が多いので、ホテル自体が日本の古い温泉宿のような迷路みたいな作りです。

Just a basic hotel. Room was ok and wifi worked intermittently. We had a dinner included in our price but the dinner was a joke. The food was clearly made from frozen food and was quite poor quality. Do not get the dinner included in your price! Breakfast was normal but not especially good. The room was extremely noisy: you can hear everything from next room and the road is very noisy. I recommend earplugs. It was a Poya weekend which we did not know. It would have been nice from the reception to mention that.
