This is the most charming, delightful hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff were all so sweet, the food was incredible, the design is amazing - such a cozy feeling. Our room (2nd floor apartment) was unbelievably spacious and lovely. The communal dining was awesome. I cannot imagine a dreamier place.

Well designed digs with kitchen and laundry

Just 5 minutes from a metro or 20 minute walk to town. Nice ti not be in the center of tourism. The building is older than America but very well taken care of. Room was clean throughout and well equipped. I stayed in an apartment for the space and laundry option as I was there a week and loved it. Also enjoyed a community dinner if excellent food and company. Staff couldn’t have been nicer. Highly recommend the Anderson room.

Charming spot with Danish design and warmth! Dont miss the community dinner, th most delicious vegetarian dishes! and the morning sing and swim. Bicycles make this convenient to all the sights, but off the beaten path slightly. The staff are lovely and warm. Thank you to NYT for the recommendation! We cant wait to go back!

Going to Copenhagen? Then book this delightful hotel. Amazing location, stunning design, gracious staff, and an absolute gem. Also make sure to book the community dinner-feels like an elevated version back when you backpacked Europe and stayed at a hostel and met people from all over the world. Delicious food served family style designed to bring strangers together. Also a stones throw from Metro station to make comings and goings easy.

Only stayed one night but it was absolutely wonderful. Such a pleasant, beautiful place to stay. The staff was so kind. We had breakfast in the bar area which was delicious. They gave us a free coffee when we checked in and we were lucky enough to get a room upgrade. Easy to access and close to the public transport to the airport. Will be coming back next time we visit Copenhagen. Only wish they had a full length mirror in the room.

Great atmosphere, warm and friendly staff, stylish and colourful interior design, excellent food and drinks…we loved our stay at the hotel. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was amazing:- spacious, well equipped, full of character and great views of the canal. A great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Loved the location- a pretty canal side street that’s a short walk to many of the sights and metro station. The social meal in the evening was a highlight and very reasonable price wise. Can’t wait to return!!

Loved the location. Our room was beautiful, and loved all the amenities in it. The staff’s attention to details and the needs of travelers are quite impressive i.e laundry detergent 😀.

The loveliest place to stay

Hotel Kanalhuset was perfect for exploring Copenhagen. So easy to get to from Metro after flying in, so well positioned for exploring. The hotel itself is beautiful with spacious rooms and lovely details. We were totally comfortable in our large room with our two teenage boys. Breakfast was delicious, and served in a lovely sun filled room. Walking out the door to the beautiful canal every morning was such a treat! Absolutely recommend Hotel Kanalhuset!

Good and kind staff, great service , cafe is really calm and peaceful ,Easier access to Metro. Due to being in center of town noisy at night . Other than that a perfect one ! Enjoyed it fully .

This is the cutest hotel I have ever stayed at. Super charming and cozy. I want to go back to Copenhagen just to stay here. My girls loved it too!

This place is the best! Wonderful location, clean, lovely staff and amazing food. The social dinner is a blast and the bar / dining area is an awesome place to hang out. There are also other great social activities like group knitting and crocheting and running. I absolutely can’t wait to come back.

A Lovely Stay

We stayed in one of the apartments and it was wonderful. Clean, comfortable bed, a fantastic mid-century design, great shower pressure, and heated bathroom floors. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The kitchen in the apartment could've been stocked a bit better: seemed like the inventory of the cutlery hadn't been updated in a while, a nicer cutting board and a selection of knives would be a good addition. Overall a great stay! The metro is a short walk away so are shops and restaurants. Highly recommend!

I feel so lucky that I got to spend time in the Kanalhuset world. Not only are the building and design and neighborhood stunning, it is truly a center for community. Our first night we arrived as the nightly community dinner was about to start with several dozen Danes of all ages sitting at long tables. They fit us in despite not having a reservation and we had the best conversation with the couple next to us and the food was great. Then the next morning we joined the local running group that meets at the hotel and has coffee there afterward. The winding run through early morning Copenhagen was one of our favorite experiences of our stay. The staff are young and impressive and hard working. I can’t wait to go back.

We had an amazing stay. Kanalhuset is the center of so many wonderful community events. We took part in a lovely social dinner with great food and company; took a community polar bear plunge that ended in a sing-along; had an evening yoga class; and tasty breakfasts in the bar. The staff are all friendly and kind, and the design of the entire building is perfection. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Wonderful Copenhagen

Kanalhuset is an absolute gem of a hotel, hidden away just south of Nyhavn. We stayed in one of the spacious apartments. The whole hotel has a mid-century vibe and the apartment oozed style and atmosphere. The bar area is amazing and laid back, frequented by locals as well as hotel residents. A good varied breakfast menu as well as comfy sofas made it very difficult to leave the hotel each morning. A brilliant stay and highly recommended!

Wonderful location and magical Danish atmosphere!

Hotel is lovely but the walls are paper thin and there is constant foot traffic in the stairwell and floors above from both residents (building doubles as an apartment) as well as other guests and customers of the restaurant and bar. Just a lot of noise starting around 6am when residents wake. Lovely hotel otherwise, it’s a shame the noise reverberates in the building. We were in room 5 - maybe some of the others are better?

Excellent place to stay in Copenhagen. Staff were incredible. Great bar area with good beer and drinks. Make sure to try the nightly dinner, it was a fantastic meal. Good location with many restaurants and most things within walking distance. Would highly recommend staying and dining here. Breakfast was also very good.

Very friendly staff, excellent location near lots of sights, amenities, restaurants and bars, and the Metro, and with a really nice coffee bar and common areas. Our room was comfortable, but not updated and the bathroom was a bit dank. All in all, would definitely consider for a next trip to CPH - but would choose the well-appointed connected apartments rather than the hotel. A good place, f’sure!

This is one of my favorite hotels in the world. We stayed in an apartment on one of the higher floors which had everything we needed, but had full access to go and eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks from the hotel. We attended one of the social dinners, which was lovely, and had breakfast there every morning. The food was terrific, the people working there even better, and the hotel is located in a wonderful part of the city which is very walkable and in a perfect location. Can't wait to return

5 stars all around

Perfect location for us, as we like to explore new places by walking. Within reasonable walking distance of most places we wanted to see, and a metro station very close by as well. Staff very friendly and rooms spacious. Only suggestion I have is to have a list of recommended restaurants and/or nearby activities available for those from out of town. Staff very nice and accommodating, but seemed to have mixed knowledge about local attractions/dining options. Would definitely recommend this property to others visiting the area though. Overall great experience

The apartment is housed in an old building opposite the canal. The interior has been redesigned, and is a beautiful blend of old and mid century modern design. We looked forward to coming back to the apartment every day, and really enjoyed being able to sit on the edge of the canal and watch the the activity on the water. The service was also impeccable and friendly - we will definitely be back!

Fantastic stay! This hidden gem is our new favorite place to book in Copenhagen. Beautiful location, wonderful atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and friendly, welcoming staff. All the best of Copenhagen and everything you could want in a boutique hotel. Highly recommend!

Wonderful small hotel in Christianshavn

Having never visited Copenhagen I wanted to find a reasonably priced hotel near the city center. Kanalhuset fit the description and was highly rated. It certainly deserves the high rating! My wife and I loved our six-day stay. Kanalhuset was ideally located, both for my conference at the University and for exploring the city.The room was very nice and squeaky clean. The staff were universally outstanding and helpful. We even got complementary drinks when we arrived. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The social dining dinner experience was especially wonderful and highly recommended. We would gladly stay there for our next visit to Copenhagen!

Such a wonderful place! We spent 5 nights here recently. Was the highlight of our trip. The staff was wonderful - Louie, Anna, Mille, etc. All of them. Word of advice- don't miss the social dinners. Family style seated next to strangers. Wonderful way to get to know people. And, if you get lucky, you'll find yourself next to locals who can feed you valuable tidbits. Breakfast is also wonderful. Can't wait to come back.

Standard rooms are high basements that turn damp. Be sure to get a courtyard room as the half-size windows can then be opened. To the street they barely open, but with smokers, walkers-by and car-tire noise right at your inside standing level (and in your ears all night long) you’ll want them shut. No amenities available in room, eg kettle, and can’t be provided. Shower didn’t flush, bathroom floor flooded. Basically a high end YMCA unless you can get one of the few upstairs apartments. Those are in a class of their own. I stayed in the room types described. Staff is very helpful. Location is great with the bridge to Nyhavn and short walk to high metro on airport line. Beware they allow outsiders into the hotel bar at night with resulting drunken behavior. They are up front about limited reception hours but at this price point that’s not ok.

I've stayed in Copenhagen many times over the past few years and this is one of the best places I have stayed. It has a cozy bar and restaurant which makes it very easy to stay and pass the time when it's cold outside. The staff was super friendly, and made it easy to check in and out.

This is a stunning property ! It is large and the minimalistic design is very beautiful. We had a wonderful stay for a week in Copenhagen ! A little bit unfortunate, we had the flat opposite the cafe . We could hear the noise from the cafe every morning from 7:30 onwards and every evening ( there are dinners er y evening ) . There was no noise from the street , just the cafe . A thick wooden curtain at the door would help with that . I knew that parking would be difficult, but not that difficult. I would not go here again with a car . We used the app & that was easy after you found a park , but what we paid for parking was not acceptable.

I stayed here for 3 days. Lovely property located a short walk from the metro down a cobblestone street on a canal. Easy walk to city center and surrounding areas. Check in was at the 2nd floor bar. Cozy vibe with locals and guests chatting over coffee. I stayed on the ground level, the room was well decorated, comfy and all I needed. I enjoyed the social dinner, it was a great experience as a solo traveller to dine with locals and chat over a roast dinner. Overall had a great stay. Staff was friendly and helpful.

It was a cold and rainy night when we arrived, so the walk from the metro seemed longer than expected. The entrance doors are marked with an inconspicuous sign, so keep an eye out. You will step down to the basement level and can then proceed up the stairs or take the elevator to the bar, which doubles as the front desk. We arrived just before the evening meal, so the bar was full of guests getting their drinks before dinner. Having just arrived by train from Stockholm, the comfy beds were just what we needed. We had a large room, which by all means met the definition. We ran out for a late-night snack at the nearby 7-Eleven, which was surprisingly stocked with a good selection. The breakfast was extremely satisfying. Since our return home we've been on a search for Danish rye bread that comes close to being as good. We were able to reserve a space for dinner the second night, and we enjoyed talking with the family seated next to us in the communal dining. Kanalhuset will definitely be on our list of preferred hotels. We'll hopefully be back to visit in the warmer months.

It was a very unique property that was reasonably priced and well situated within the city. Their community meal was delicious and offered an interesting opportunity to speak with people I would have never met otherwise.

The location is absolutely perfect! You can walk everywhere or catch the metro. Bikes available in the area for rent too. Walk to the skating rink, the opera, you name it. Tons of restaurants nearby too. The actual property is cozy and warm and super friendly. Wifi is stellar! Room was bigger than expected and the linens and duvets were perfection! Room lacked a desk but plenty of tables in common spaces (and you have privacy during the day). Just an FYI if you are planning to work. I can’t wait to return - staff is so nice and generous. It’s a hidden gem for sure!

This is a very unique hotel. Feels more like an AirBNB than a hotel. We had a 1 bedroom apartment that was fully equipped with a kitchen and laundry facilities. The staff was friendly and the food is good (although we could not get in for dinner during our stay). They offer family style dining for lunch and dinner and are usually fully booked so reserve early. The only negative is that it is not easy to get in and out of with luggage.

Lovely hotel with a bar and restaurant upstairs serving light foods. Great coffee. Area is nice, about 10 minute walk to Nyhavn and a good proximity to the metro line stop christianhaven. We sadly got the room under the stairs which required earplugs because it sounded like elephants running up and down but the other rooms would probably have been fine.

Kanalhuset is truly a hidden gem in Copenhagen! Great location within walking distance from most attractions and close to the subway station if you don't want to walk. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The food is amazing, everything is made of fresh ingredients. Their social dining concept is a great way to meet locals and get new ideas! Loved the concept. And finally the staff!!! They are all excellent! In summary a place with great energy, vibes and coziness! All about Hygge! Our new favorite word!

This place is a gem. The bar & restaurant are an ideal spot to build and share community. Nightly social dining and daily activities help make this place stand out. The apartments are very spacious, comfortable and very clean. I would happily stay here again next time I am in town.

It was not just a place to sleep but a Danish design experience! The rooms, the building, the furnishings, the decor were all just lovely, fresh and made for a beautiful setting for our 2 night stay.

Kanalhuset is centrally-located and a terrific base for exploring Cooenhagen. Apartment was comfortable and well-laid out and appointed. Highly recommend.

We stayed in one of the small apartments and it was perfect. Such a great mix of contemporary, mid-century and 19th century styles, with vibrant, warm colors. The staff was friendly and helpful. We weren’t able to join the large, family style dinner they offer, but it looked like great fun and I’d recommend it. And of course, Copenhagen is a magical place.

Great location - average amenities

Nice hotel, but missed a few things that should be a standard in a 4-star hotel. The room temperature was too low and could not be corrected. There was no trash can other than a little bin in the toilet. There were no night stands. Location was great though.

Unique and stylish accommodation

Kanal Huset is extremely comfortable, warm, cosy and welcoming and we had a wonderful stay from start to finish. We were very lucky to be upgraded to an apartment so we had all the benefits of a hotel along with the space and facilities of a private residence. Attention to detail in layout, decor and ambience was excellent, overall one of my most pleasant hotel stays. And you're based in a great location in the city, right next to the water and easy to get to/from the airport.
