Had we known the resort was closing within days of our stay we would NEVER had booked this place . Pictures were deceiving. When we chexhed in the reception should have made us aware and been more transparent that the resort was closing downs in a few days . Only one restaurant one open , no shops were open , spa was closed , food became More and more limited during our three night stay . We paid to have and use ALL these services but couldn’t since resort was shutting down , very very very disappointing to say the least . Why would I have spend $1700 Eu there for NO services ????? I could Have been somewhere where I had more than one option to eat and a spa to enjoy . Sadly BUT I don’t see It happening a full refund would have been the proper thing etiquettely to do BUT don’t foresee that happening 😟 So NO NOT recommended At the moment !!!!! If the hotel reaches out to me and does the proper treatment I’ll be happy to come back and fill you all in

The staff is very welcoming and provided everything needed. The island is lovely. Once they heated the rooftop pool it was good. The food is delicious, many breakfast choices try the pimodoro upstairs or the ravioli in room . There is a water taxi charge if using other hours than shuttle times but easy to arrange or wait for free shuttle times. Highly recommend for the James Bond Italy feel of arrival a water taxi. Enjoyed how kind and friendly everyone on the island is to guests.

Beautiful getaway! Staff is friendly and very helpful; greeters, receptionists, bartenders, and waiters.

This is not a "real" JW Marriott in terms of quality and value. The rooms are run down, the carpets in the hallways are dirty and old and the rooms are quite shabby. The bathroom in our room was in a bad condition with broken fixtures and poor quality finishes. I guess, when coming to Venice one must dial down the expectations one might have for the money but I don't understand how this property gets glowing reviews. We most definitely won't be back.

Very unique resort on its own island.

Brilliant. Wonderful facilities and views. Superb service. Immensely attentive and helpful staff. The hotel is maintained to the highest standards and has extensive grounds. A pure delight.

Okay, parents with kids know this. This is a beautiful property for adults. Yes, they have an indoor and rooftop pool, but all those are for adults. There is one pool on the Property for kids. That pool is an 8-minute walk from the lobby; it's outdoors in the heat. There are umbrellas and chairs. There is no diving or jumping. It had a pool bar with food, so there was no indoor pool for the kids. Plus, there is a difference between a junior suit and a suit. You can add roll-in beds for the junior suite, but it looks wrong. I don't know; I expected better. I paid a private taxi 200 euros to take me there. It was just such a waste of time—two hundred euros to the airport. The shuttle only takes you to San Marco. I know we Americans recognize the name; it feels like we know them. But it's not an American Marriot.

The bell service is terrible and quite rude at times depending on who’s on duty. We asked for the luggage service for check out and never came. Spa service is average. It’s all about up selling to something not necessary better but for their benefits . It’s disappointed. Also, I was not impressed when I was told during check in that it was converted from a “tuberculosis hospital”!

This is a hotel to stay in the summer, when you can enjoy your life. In winter, when the weather is rainy and not warm, it is not worth expensive money for the stay. And this is more like family place, not really adult focused. we previously stayed at Kempenski and it was better there.

Love the staff and ambience

There is nothing quite like the JW Marriott Venice on Isola delle Rose. The uniqueness of this property makes for quite a luxurious experience! The staff’s attention to detail can make you feel like their most important guest! We will for sure be back!

The property is nice, but doesn't feel aligned with what you end up paying. It doesnt feel like a JW Marriott - more like a Courtyard Marriott. While we didn't really have any bad experiences, nothing really stands out to make it a great one especially given the price point and location (e.g. food is average and caters to tourists). It seems like a hotel that many people use to spend 1-2 nights in before going off for the cruise. Full of groups. The shuttle is very convenient - easy to get to St Marks square and helps stay away from the crowds.

We stayed 3 nights with my fiancée in this lovely trip. Property grounds are stunning, I would have wished to stay one more night to enjoy all the facilities. Breakfast buffet was amazing, great food quality and options. One of our concerns was transportation to Venice and it worked perfectly, boat sails every 30 minutes from and to St. Mark’s Square.

Great place to be

A family favorite. Can’t imagine a better place in Venice to stay with kids. Their team really goes above and beyond and the property is simply fabulous for a family stay. Very large suite. Amazing family pool, with a kids water fountain next to it and a great playground. You can also bike around the island. Outdoor movies. Archery, basketball. A great way to spend some energy in the mornings to then go off to discover Venice in the afternoons. Can’t wait to come back for the next art biennale!

Great property. Amazing stay! Even though the hotel was at 95% capacity the service was outstanding from beginning to end. Daphne did a wonderful job checking us in, explaining all the hotel details and later helping us during our stay. The property is amazing. Marriott did a great job here. The pools and hotel grounds are impecable and feels up to par with other 5 star resorts. We will be definitely coming back here.

The only place to stay when visiting Venice! Located on its own private island, the JW Marriott Venice is a perfect retreat from the busy streets of Venice. My wife and I enjoyed the rooftop restaurant and pool, as well as the beautiful gardens, numerous amenities, and activities scheduled each day. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. At times, we felt like the hotel's only guests. The free shuttle to and from San Marco was convenient and always on time. We can't wait to return!

Amazing property and views. A great escape from the bustle. The staff and services were top notch. Our only disappointment was the hick up with the on site photographer as we are still awaiting images and we've now had to chase.

My stay in room 203 from 20 Oct - 24 Oct 2019

Firstly, the bad parts: Check in - nobody to help us off the shuttle bus with our luggage/baby stroller. The only help we had was from the check in counter to the room. Room cleanliness - some space in the minibar would be nice to be able to keep cool your own milk/drinks etc. Also, the toilet roll is very close to your leg and gets in the way while on the toilet seat. A biscuit or chocolate at turn down service would take this hotel to the next level. The good parts: Check in agent Claudia L was absolutely amazing. Super friendly, super caring and genuine. Excellent service and couldn’t have been dealt with more pleasantly by anybody else. Thanks Claudia. Claudia was happy to assist throughout my stay with any queries. Check out agent Claudia (a different Claudia) was also totally amazing, made sure the boat waited for us (as we were rushing), and made it a stress free experience. Point to note - kids under a certain age are exempt from the 5 euro per person per night city tax. The system wanted to charge me 20 euros for my 1 year old for our 4 night stay. Claudia was quick to correct the system auto generated quote and charge just for the two adults. I left my jumper in a bag in the baby cot by accident, and so far the hotel housekeeping has not come forward with it which is disappointing. I understand it is totally my own fault but I just want my jumper back. It’s definitely in the room. I last put it into the cot and in a hurry, I forgot to pack it.

Beautiful property with friendly and helpful staff. Lovely, large clean rooms. The only minus is that the resort is on its own island and water taxi shuttles to San Marco were only every hour starting at 9 am. Similarly, return taxis were every hour. So, we had to obtain an expensive private water taxi once or twice to get an early start on our days, and we had to time our return to the island to avoid standing around waiting for the shuttle. Besides that, it is a wonderful place to stay.

The property is beautiful, but its very very expensive. The food was not good and its a long water taxi ride to and from Venice 20 mins each way. The water taxi ride from yhe airport is very expensive too 150€.

This property by himself is amazing but unfortunately it is located far from Venice in another island that takes half hour with boat to get there . It’s not very convenient and practical. Many might like it but for us it was causing a lot of anxiety to get there specially if it’s your first time in Venice .

I've stayed in all areas of Venice. JW Marriott is well worth staying. You will be charmed.

The location is magnificent, well managed and kept in shape. Shuttle service towards and from Piazzale Roma could be more frequent. We appreciated and enjoyed our stay very much, the best way to discover the unique city of Venice.

Everything was excellent apart from registration - all reception areas busy and there was a couple in front of us queuing to be attended to. A young male receptionist greeted the first couple, stating they would be attended to soon and we were ignored. He came back and escorted couple to checkin they were seated and given Prosecco and they were treated very pleasantly. Eventually a young female receptionist asked if we wanted to come to the satellite station to checkin but we would have to stand ! She was pleasant enough and walked us to lift but we were not offered Prosecco and I felt our checkin lacked the buzz and special treatment the others received which put a bit of a damper on our otherwise pleasant stay.

Not much else to say about this property but WOW!! Would not stay anywhere else!!

The Hotel was exceptional in terms of amenities with a dedicated childrens pool and cycles for use around the island. I would say the general restaurants could be better in terms of food which was very expensive for what was produced. The boat service to Venice city was very reliable, but I would avoid the Murano trip offered by the hotel and visit the island independently as it was merely a visit to one glass factory with a big emphasis on touring the shop.

The hotel was lovely in every respect, particularly the location. Despite the current weakness of sterling making holidays for Britains in the Eurozone expensive, I did feel the cost of this hotel particularly excessive. Yes it is lovely and fairly exclusive, but the cost of rooms, drinks and food is extremely high. Might you attract more diners if prices were on a par with restaurants in Venice itself?

Amazing, one of a kind property. From the checkin staff at the L’Uliveto to the family pool staff and the Cucina staff, this resort know how to provide excellent service. Frederico and Lara and the 2 other gentleman who worked the family pool were absolutely superb. The lady at the main front desk reception who gave my children the lion stuffed animal made their trip extra special. And finally to the bell hop at the private taxi dock who stood waving as we left, I just can’t say enough about how wonderful this resort and the staff was. I would come back every year if I could!

The infinity pool and spa are spectacular! I did enjoy my stay, but was not happy with the room. It was outdated and had carpet. For a hotel with those prices, I don’t feel I got my money’s worth, at all. The room was not very clean and the pillows smelled like dirty hair. I asked them to change my sheets and it was not done. I slept with a towel over my pillows. Food is just ok, definitely is over priced and so are the drinks. 26€ for lasagna... ridiculous! You’re better off eating outside the hotel. It will be cheaper and taste better. The shuttle is a great bonus! I was in Italy for my 50th. They offered me an upgrade for an extra 400€ + instead of 500€ +, on top of what I already paid! Just WOW! They didn’t even offer me a free drink. I was a little disappointed. This hotel is a money grabber. I wouldn’t give it more than 3.5 stars. I don’t mind paying for fancy places. As I have stayed at many... but I don’t believe this hotel is giving you your money’s worth.

Disappointing dining options

This was a short two night stay to combine business with pleasure. We were extremely disappointed to discover that Dopolavoro Dining Room was closed on both the nights that we were there!!! In the middle of peak summer season too!! How extraordinary!! As a consolation we were told that the restaurant would be open for breakfast for the first time, purely for guests staying in the maisonettes or L’uliveto. Breakfast was delicious but we were again extremely disappointed to find that there is no freshly squeezed juice on the menu!! How doubly extraordinary!!

Beautiful pools which were great after a hot day in Venice. Nice to get away from the crowds too.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the premises. Fantastic features to enjoy!

The hotel was a good escape from the crowds and heat of Venice. Reception staff were outstanding. The only complaint was that our bathroom lacked a separate shower and the shower arrangement in the large bathtub was awkward. The rest of the room and amenities more than made up for this.

The hotel left us speechless! We loved everything about this property. The staff are polite and go out their way to make sure you are happy and satisfied. We loved the private island the hotel sits on. We will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone

Comfortable stay

Nice property and great shuttle service

The hotel itself is very nice. An important side note, you do have to take a shuttle into Venice. The hotel had one that runs every 30 minutes though so that's not a problem. When we arrived we were welcomed like Kings. During our stay the service was what you would expect from JW. However on our departure day a large corporate awards group was coming in and the staff was overwhelmed. We were left to fend for ourselves. That was really our only complaint. Our room was nice, we had one of the loft suites, I will note that the bed is in the loft portion and it was considerably hotter than the lower level and we were never really able to get it cool.

The quality of rooms , cleanliness and amenities is exactly what you would expect from a Marriott but as this hotel is on its own island some things to be warned off: - they charge you for everything and get away with it as you are “trapped” by a 25 minutes shuttle into the city. This includes adding €35 onto their spa facilities - not sure why this wouldn’t be included in the price - same for food - their restaurants are extortionately priced. Fiola is good but the Sagra Rooftop is absolutely terrible. When the chef and hostess came round they didn’t care that I complained and simply walked off. Don’t under any circumstances eat here.

It was a beautiful experience for me and my family. From the checking in to checking out the staff was on spot. They will arrange all your travel experiences and much more. The food was fresh and well made. I have nothing to say but i will go back with my husband.

Nice hotel, but not for children

We were looking forward to our stay for 5 nights on what looks like a beautiful hotel located on an private Island 20-30 minutes boattrip from San Marco square. Because we went with our 5-year-old we asked in advance if the family pool would be heated, which they confirmed. They would also have a Kids Club opening during our stay. Upon arrival we were told otherwise, and the whole family area, pool and playground, were closed. It’s fair to say they had the adults only pool open for the kids instead. The kids club, which both in their brochure and on their web site, was suppose to be open, but also here it didn’t turn out to be true. The restaurant Dopolavoro seemed great, but they don’t seat children under the age of 8 years old. An other dining place on the island, the roof top restaurant Sagra, charges too much just to sit down. The same amount is charged every time you order room service. I personally skipped 4 out of 5 breakfasts, as it was really expensive. Maybe someone eat a lot for breakfast, but I don’t. I understand this a 5-star hotel and more expensive than other hotels, but then the food and service also should be above average. I tried to grab a coffee from Dispensa. Noone could take my order, so after waiting for 15 minutes, I walked away. Giardino - the picnic and lunch restaurant was closed - which made the only possibilty for us to eat, grabbing the ferry towards Venice.

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful, tranquil island right near St Marks Square. Away from the hustle and bustle of Venice, the perfect retreat. Shuttle service was on a lovely boat and only took 20 minutes. We stayed in a maisonette which was perfect for a family of 4, our children aged 9 and 6 loved the jacuzzi splash pool, which was heated. Staff could not do enough for us, including negotiating our way to the airport during the floods. Wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

Amazing

The is a gem, located so close to Venice mainland it was refreshing to be able to enjoy some evening time away from the Venice tourist crowd. The staff was exceptional and hotel so clean and beautiful. It was all a pleasant suprise. I can’t say enough about the staff.

If you go to Venice you must stay here to relax and get away from the crowds. This hotel was perfect in every way and the views amazing !!!! Will definitely stay here again!!!

Surprise trip

We had booked this resort for a surprise trip for my parents 60th and it did not disappoint. The staff were outstanding, very attentive. Lara at breakfast was amazing. We were lucky enough to stay in Villa Rosa. The private villa on the island and it was exceptional. The only down side was the bedroom downstairs was a sofa bed and a little uncomfortable but house keeping added toppers to make it more comfortable. We had food delivered to the villa , was extremely efficient. And we had a wonderful meal in the restaurant. We used the spa facilities which were beautiful. Overall nothing bad or negative to say. You will not regret staying here. Outstanding!

Best Hotel in Venice

The only downside to our trip was being cheated out of €100.00 because we didn't know about the free hotel transportation to and from the train station. The hotel is conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas to offer a more relaxing stay. Located on its own island, J.W. Marriot Venice offers many amenities for the days we did not want to leave. The hotel concierge desk offers many tourist attractions at a discounted price, and we were able to go to Murano. I highly recommend visiting the spa for a relaxing massage and facial.

Luxury, location and Style

We arrived late in the afternoon to the JW Marriot and were impressed immediately by the entrance. The service there was 1st class and it didnt drop at any stage. The staff at checkin were amazing, the porters were informative and polite and the room was INCREDIBLE. We were upgraded to a ocean front 2 level apartment with its own plunge pool. For 2 people it was huge and made the morning rush with 2 bathrooms a lot easier. Breakfast was terrific with the usual selection of foods and you could always find a table. The shuttle back to Venice made daily travel easy with services running every 30 minutes, we never had an issue getting a seat. The hotel even run a shuttle for travellers leaving Venice via train, with services leaving the hotel daily until 11 am. Overall, I couldnt recommend the JW Marriot enough. We cant wait to get back there but will definately allow a few more days to enjoy the facilities and tranquility.

This is a wonderful property if you want to be away from the crowds of San Marco and Venice in general . It is somewhat isolated and the only vendor on the island is JW which in my view leads to excessive pricing for basic services. There is an 8 Euro per person charge to have a table in the fourth floor dining room and pretty well everything is close to double the price of the already inflated prices of Venice.

Best property in Venice

We spent two weeks roaming Italy with family. We stayed in few different cities. JW Marriott was hands down the best experience. From check in to check out, the staff was very friendly and pleasant. Hotel is fairly new, it gives you a feeling of resort feeling within a city. Rooftop dining and pol gives you the best view of Venice. If I return to Venice, I won’t look for any other hotels.

Venice is way too crowded. Although you need to take a boat back and forth, if you're not one for crowds this is the place to be
