I like the design of the pods, as it has sufficient space and an unique style, compared to other hostels.

Despite the situation that the shower water was cold at night, everything was nice!

Very tiny and warm room. Common kitchen area was a little bit chaotic but really it did have all of your essential. The planned kitchen Reno should fix some of our issues for sure.

My stay was great, but the kitchen was too small for the number of people staying at the hostel. Now that it is high season, it was complicated to cook or prepare something quick. Also, the activities shown at the entrance aren't updated or don't exist.

A pretty cool place that’s like an upscale-ish backpackers hostel. Best thing is it’s location which is right smack in the main centre! Only downside is parking—you either book their parking for a fee, or park in the paid public parking right across the hostel. Not a problem overnight coz free parking from 6am-8am. Also, the only heating available are oil heaters, which unfortunately isn’t quite enough. But overall, a great accessible and convenient place.

good location, the rest I didn't much care for

The room was very small. the kitchen is of course shared which is fine, but people would take some of the utensils and dishes and there wasn't enough sometimes. The fridge was not as well organized as some of the other places. I would probably choose a different place next time but I am older and this is more suitable for younger crowd, and I get that.

Great location and stay

Great experience start to finish. Warm welcome from reception, the pod beds are ideal for privacy and provide a light and fan which is great. Kitchen was being moved to upstairs which will make it ideal with the social/dining area, that would be my only issue as it was then. But location perfect, car park right next door for about £3 hour 8-6pm

This is the best hostel I stayed at during my entire trip around the South Island and North Island!!! Having a pod with a full privacy screen felt like my own little space. I crawled out of my pod one morning to hear someone snoring and realized I couldn't hear that or anything else while inside my pod!! I stayed here 4 nights and would gladly return! Showers are hot and large space/hooks to put belongings on! Staff was friendly. Laundry is great priced and dryer worked great!

This is a hotel for backpackers. They do have private rooms for us. Great location and modern.

Busy - high density people presence - otherwise you get what you pay for

When I arrived I checked in on the tablet in the lobby and went to my assigned room where I found there was already someone in my bunk. That person and I went to the lobby to figure out the problem. The person working was at a 1/10 on giving a crap about it. Finally, once it was sorted out I found that the plugin for electricity in my bunk didn't work. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, not clean at all. The room was very hot, it didn't seem to be temperature controlled.

Great location, iffy quality facilities. This property was very mid for me, I felt like it focused more on feeling trendy than providing quality spaces. The Pods in concept are great, but the pulley/ window shade bed situation doesn't really work and is hard to use. The white plastic lets light through from other pods at night, and they are a little creeky. That said, the location is absolutely fantastic! the staff were helpful, and I had a totally fine stay here.

Woke up 4a b/c room beside was showering, and it was the quaking sound rather than pure watering sound. Parking was hard but is normal for downtown. Room was so tiny that even the luggage could be hardly fully open. Price was good considering the above

Terrible check in confusion for almost everyone, even if checked in on line there is still long process to though. Queues of people trying to get into their rooms at 3pm

Good location

It’s got a great location for access to Queenstown and is a good option if you’re adventuring on a budget. We stayed in a queen room and it was small, but clean and comfortable. Walls are thin. If you’re looking for a hostel, this is great, kitchen set up looked useful. If you’re looking more for a hotel, this is not really set up for you.

The rooms in the basement had no windows and a few of the girls in the room had the same feeling I had: jail cell. The pods were freezing making it very difficult to sleep and I wanted to have a warm shower to help but there was no hot water…

Freezing but alright

I had planned to stay just about 3 weeks but after 5 days I cancelled the rest because I did not like it here. I have never been so cold in my life and I live Canadian winter every year. I asked the staff twice if they could adjust the temperature and was told that the whole floor was on the same thermostat so they could not because people preferred to sleep being cold rather than warm. I agree… to a certain extent. My teeth were clattering, I had to wear everything I owned to get through the night. Other than that, the staff was super friendly and helpful from check in to check out. The kitchen was tiny and not very clean, nowhere to sit on that floor except 2 tiny tables outside, I suspect it maybe had something to do with wanting people to go up to the roof restaurant. The bathrooms were ok but not the cleanest I’ve seen but not the worst either. People were respectful of noise mostly and the pods have power outlets and lights each which was convenient.

Great space for young single travelers

Great location in Qtown. Vibe was very 18-30 yo single traveler. Music was a little loud in the bar/common area. No seating in the shared kitchen made meal times more challenging for our family group with a 6 month old infant. Rooms were clean and well organised, but very small. Bathrooms in the room were excellent.

Convenient, close to bus exchange. Nice staff. Chose double room for myself so I could have my iwn bathroom. But thin walls with awkward neighbor noise as well as weird electrical or plumbing whirring in walls. And kitchen smells from 1st floor permeated entire building including my 3rd floor room!

Located at a convenient spot. Pod was comfortable and clean. Staffs were really helpful, answered and helped with all my queries.

Lylo Queenstown was a fine hotel in a really good location in Queenstown. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel cleanliness was good. Just one thing to note that we didn't realize: this is a hostel or shared room hotel that has some regular rooms. I wasn't expecting that. Thus, laundry was stressful at times and the smells from the kitchen were bad at times. We also dod not have a hot pot in the room and couldn't make coffee there like you would in a normal hotel. However, we did not experience any issues.

The employees that's in charged of the reception and counter are really welcoming. The room that we stayed in is really clean. There was also a kitchen that we're free to use and came in really handy. Overall our stay was magnificent.

we expected a studio room with a window, kitchenette and a carpark. we got a box for a room that only fitted a bed that you couldnt walk around, no window and a gap of approx 800 mm between bed and wall, no room for a even a chair, also no carpark was available. as this was the only night in queenstown we felt sick and extremely dissapointed . we couldnt upgrade nor get our money back. we walked out, forfeited our money and booked another lovely room up the road for the same price.

Staff were lovely and available all hours of the day. Beds, toilets and showers were clean. Lockers under beds were good for storing my luggage. Lylo has a room to store people's luggage after they check out and before they leave. Very close to the bus stop and Queenstown city centre.

Very convenient location but the property is starting to show it’s age

A seriously good stay! Check in was easy, Lylo is close to everything which makes it worthwhile straight up. I was in an 8 pod room and everything about it was great, bed was way more comfortable than I expected, privacy if you need it but good for a solo traveller with plenty of opportunity to socialise. Bathrooms were pretty good as far as a hostel goes, the staff keep the place very clean and tidy, and were there to help with any questions that I had. Highly recommended and I’ll be staying again next time I’m in town.

central to everything

Prime location - Lylo was located close to the Coronet Peak and The Remarkables Snow Center. Walkable distance to town and had supermarkets/cafes/restaurants nearby. Small rooms but clean and comfy!

LyLo was perfect for my one night stay. I had a Queen En Suite and it met all my needs. The staff was super friendly and they were helpful when the dryer didn’t dry my clothes all the way. I went to buy another coin for extra time and the receptionist was kind enough to give me an extra coin without charge. It was a kind gesture and much appreciated after a long travel day. Everything here was clean and no weird hostel smell. The only thing I found frustrating was my key card wouldn’t work to get into the laundry as it was on the ground floor and my room was on the 2nd floor. So I had to either wait for the receptionist to open for me or awkwardly ask someone to let me in when I needed to tend to my laundry. They have a really cool lounge on the top floor as well that I wished I had more time to enjoy.

Very clean and perfect room for our stay. The kitchen was a little small and could tell people were living there, needed a good clean out. Laundry facilities were a bit of a rip off but service was awesome, AMAZING location, good value for money, will be back for sure.

The location is incredible. The Wi-Fi is subpar. It worked decently-ish on my phone, but it dropped from my laptop every five minutes... And I wasn't streaming anything. Just trying to book hostels for upcoming nights. I chose to stay in a private room with a private bathroom. It was tiny, but the bed was comfortable. The room was freezing though. There was a small electric fan heater, but I didn't want to leave that on all night... So both nights I stayed there I woke up a couple of times in the middle of the night because of the cold and I'd put the heater on for half an hour or so. That was quite inconvenient. It would be great for Lylo to invest in better comforters/blankets so we don't freeze in our sleep.

Very convenient location! Staff were so lovely, everyone we interacted with was so kind. Has a handy luggage storage option which was amazing. Room was very very small. We knew it was going to be a small room but it was way smaller than expected. Glad I booked the balcony room as it made it feel less compacted but everything else was pretty decent.

Lylo was an awesome place to stay. Staff is kind, fun, and friendly. Lylo hosts events each night so meeting people & making friends was easy. Loved my time there!

The location is good and convenient because we don't drive. But set up of the double bed is not good. There's a pillar beside the bed which prevented for two of us to sleep properly on the bed. We have to climb to the bed.

The property has all indicated amenities, in a previous review I indicated that the room was to cold, however after following up with a staff member, it was drawn to my attention that the room had a portable heater and she visited my room to set up same. The bed was very comfortable.

terrible beeping noise in our hotel room throughout the night ruined my trip. although, places and people are extremely nice.

Visiting Queenstown is already expensive as it is. So being able to find a place for me and my friends that is a little more affordable was great. We got the family room, so we had our own bathroom and it is so conveniently close to everything Queenstown has to offer.

I liked IT much more than Lylo of Auckland. The pod seemed more spacious and cleaner.

We stayed in a double en-suite and couldn’t have been happier. Yes, the rooms are small but there’s space under the bed for your bags and we paid a fraction of the cost compared to other properties in the area. The location is outstanding, the bathroom was clean and had a great shower - there was even shampoo and body wash provided! Bed comfy but the highlight was the incredible view of the lake from our room. Would recommend Lylo to anyone!

Centrally locate in Downtown Queenstown there was no shortage of places to eat, drink, shop, or head out to the mountains from. Highly recommend staying. Rooms felt a little "hostel" style and that was kind of the vibe of the whole place but that was fine, we only stayed for one night. Longer wouldn't have been a problem either though.

Comfortable and clean. Gets a bit loud and stays loud late but you can’t beat the location!

We found Lylo to be an ideal short-term stopover for our stay in Queenstown. If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere but for budget accommodation Lylo fills all the boxes. Our room, albeit shoebox in size, was private, with a good sized shower area and with excellent mountain views. Lack of cupboard or shelf space was a bit of a hassle but we simply lived out of our luggage during our 7 day stay. The communal kitchen was a bit hectic at times but the property are planning to extend this facility. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there in a central Queenstown location and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone travelling on a tight budget

Room and property is right in the centre so perfect for walking. Staff friendly but strick on the 3pm checkin, did let us leave bag though. Room was fine but small and had no windows but we knew this, which is great for sleeping as no Natural light but found it made me oversleep, no control on temperature though as centrally controlled. Would stay again as it was fine for a night. Definitely aimed at foreign backpackers and tourists but fine for a night

Horrible 10 stay cut early

Tiny room, service was sub par, no thermostat in each room so they have the rooms on fan/circulation mode for the whole floor which I believe is a health and safety issue as my partner and I both got Covid. And after a few days of sharing air on the floor all the rooms around us were coughing and sneezing as you could hear through the thin walls. I don’t recommend this place to anyone

Good location and inexpensive

Excellent location from bus stop and near shops. Room is small but clean. Stayed in two different rooms in two trips. The only complaint is that the TV is bad in both rooms, and the hotel should provide a couple of stool in the room for sitting. The kitchenette is very useful.

Location good, staff friendly, room felt like a prison cell without the bars, or a store room with a toilet in it. I wouldn’t choose this again. Check in and check out process was easy.

The bathrooms were below expectations. There was one sink for an entire floor. There was mould growing on the extraction fan.

We were supposed to stay at Lylo which was a 2 minute walk from the city. Instead we had to trek 15 minutes from the city with all of our baggage. 2 hours before check in we were told we were being switched to a different property. We arrived at 5:45…. 2.45 hours past check in time and a room was not ready. The staff seemed clueless and it was a mess.

Great location, small rooms but nice common areas

Location was excellent to explore queenstown. We had a ensuite queen room and it was very small, but the bed was comfortable and the common spaces are quite nice (especially the roof deck), so it's easy to avoid spending much time in your room. There is reasonably-priced public parking nearby too.

Great location at a walking distance to all restaurants and stores. the room was a bit small and tight to move around, especially with open luggage, but the bathroom was very clean and spacious. the room was also clean and good for the price we paid.

The set up of pods in the hostel are ideal for privacy and being able to get a complete nights rest. Storage locker in the rooms were a great size. Very nice having a rooftop lounge.

Perfect location for shopping and dining. Nice and clean rooms, Too noisy until late night and strong cooking smell all over the corridors. Not too family friendly.

The room was small but clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen facilities were busy and messy, but were cleaned up in the morning. Reception is just a person sitting at a computer. There were lots of people milling about including a vagrant causing a disturbance, made us a little concerned about the street parking.

Place was nice, very small room. Room seemed a bit expensive but I think that’s just queenstown as a whole. Would recommend for a 2 night stay 👍
