The property has potential for improvement. For dining the hotel needs a better system to make reservations. You have to be standing online at 7:15am to reserve a spot at the restaurant and there’s no guarantee you will get in. The poor workers / staff members try to accommodate the guest but it’s not fair when the guests is upset and they get in trouble if they overbooked. I understand the hotel is trying to rebuild because they was closed for sometime however you’re on vacation so getting up that early to make reservations is simple ridiculous. The WiFi connection was horrible. Some of the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful others was just not professional at all. I noticed they gave preferential treatment to some of the guest than others. They did not explain where you can find anything you basically have to figure it out on your own. Everyone should know guest have a choice where to stay and if no one stays at this hotel then they won’t have any pay. They assume that only certain people tip and it shouldn’t be about monetary compensation it’s all about the service they provide to their guests.
The reviews about this property being outdated and the rooms being subpar are indeed correct. We had a room with one king bed and it was tiny. Hardly room for our luggage. We found the food to be average - not bad but not great. The beach and pool areas are absolutely beautiful - and where we spent most of our daytime. The water is very calm and warm, great for floating with a nice cocktail 😊. The grill at the beach/pool had great food! We really enjoyed being within walking distance to the Jolly Harbour marina. We went there most nights to the other bars, restaurants to listen to live music and one night we did eat off property - Sea Dream - which was excellent.
Beware, the photo of the room and description said 2 twin beds. Apparently we were informed this was an old photo and these rooms were no longer available. we asked to be moved as our room was located on the main path of other guest coming back late (gone midnight) and deciding to have a chat outside our room! Luckily the staff were helpful and we were moved to a quieter location the following day. The room original room was tired, the shower pressure was extremely poor, wardrobe door was hanging off its runners and the A/C unit was noisy, if you turned it off it leaked! The Staff themselves are very helpful and continually display a happy nature. Margaret at the tour desk was very helpful to all and any of needs. On the beach there are Kayaks, SUPs, Snorkelling equipment and a Hobi cat available for use.
Highly recommend this place. The place was clean, beautiful beach, can get tours from the place, food was very good (included) unlimited drinks, affordable, staff was very nice. I don’t understand the bad reviews really coz it exceeded my expectations and I’ve been to different places (different price ranges).
The property is big , poolside bars , the beach is beautiful! The food was great the staff were so pleasant and helpful any hour. Now the room ehhh they are a bit tiny but for the price it’s not bad. You come on vacation to enjoy the island so you’re not in your room anyway. It should be only to sleep lol so it did suffice for me! I loved and will be returning!!!
Hotel needs serious upgrade. We had to move to larger room our first room was like a chicken coop. This hotel is over 40 years old and was closed for almost 7 years. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The beach is one of the best in the Caribbean.
I was unaware that you don’t get daily turn down service unless you stay 7 days or more. If you need clean towels or sheets you have to request it and change the bed on your own.
Staff is very friendly! They work extremely hard and are often under appreciated by the guests. Although it is an all-inclusive resort, we did tip servers & bartenders (housekeeping is a separate service fee). The resort is in serious need of repairs and updating. Rooms are outdated. Limited outlets for charging. Beach towels are readily available & you can swap out wet/dirty towels for clean ones. The pools are clean and well placed. Plenty of lounge chairs. The beach is gorgeous! Some of the palapas (beach cabanas) have rotting roofs. We did see some construction taking place, so perhaps there will be improvements in the near future. Limited dining options: one buffet for breakfast & dinner; one poolside grill for lunch; one formal dining area that has limited seating & requires same day reservations. There is a coffee bar but the guests seem to outpace the staff’s ability to replenish the coffee quickly enough. There are panhandlers on the beach. Some are looking to book you on excursions, some are selling wares, others are looking for free food, drink & cash handouts. There are security guards hired by the resort, but unless you tell security that you don’t want to be approached by panhandlers, security will ignore the panhandlers and you will be continuously approached. All non-motorized activities are included but you need to be aware of the jet skiers who race up & down the shoreline. Mosquitos/sand flies abound at dawn/dusk. We brought deet wipes & were fine.
Although the rooms are very small and dated, the beach is gorgeous. The staff was friendly. It would have been nice if they had two restaurants instead of just one, but overall the food wasn't bad. The bars were great! I had an issue with the use of a paddle board and was restricted to how long and where I could use it.
The Clear beach and polite staff
We traveled to jolly resort last week. Overall we enjoyed the beach and view from the room but we felt room service wasn’t the greatest. They charge an additional fee of $20 US dollars a day for stay. It’s supposed to cover for WiFi and other stuff but WiFi wasn’t the greatest. they don’t clean the rooms unless you stay for atleast 7 days nd if not you have to pay $10 US dollars a day. Room doesn’t provide a refrigerator or water so we recommend buying water or groceries in a near store by the hotel it’s way cheaper than the store inside the hotel.. Overall the food was good, beach is amazing… for an all inclusive resort I think it was worth it. Just for FYI all the rooms are facing the beach.
I must say that the water at Jolly beach is beautiful!!!! The Staff weren’t as friendly as you would think. The food options were limited. The property itself is dated. There’s currently construction being done on some of the ground level units, which brings the noise early in the morning. We will definitely visit Antigua again, but we will stay at a different resort.
Jolly Beach i undergoing a renovation and appears to be working towards an excellent all-inclusive experience. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The facilities were perhaps a litle dated but were more than adequate. The setting itself is quite beautiful.
People will bug you to death trying to sale you something on the beach no peace and quiet out there.
The best thing about the resort is the beach it's situated along. The resort itself is quiet. Room: Stayed in Standard King. Room size is sufficient. Cleanliness is lacking. Daily room service is only offered with an extra fee, but I would expect to at least start with a very clean room. Bed (firm) & sheets were comformable & clean, but surfaces & floors did not look clean & the whole room definitely needed general maintenance & upkeep. Room temperature was conformable. Resort grounds: Rundown, but overall looked clean. Definitely lacking in general maintenance. The hedges by the coffee area were overgrown, so you could not enjoy the full view of beach. Lawn maintenance did show up when we were there, but still did not trim the bushes. The gym: Very rundown & lacking, preferred workouts from my patio vs the gym. Food & drinks: Buffet food was sufficient. No room service or snack bar available. Hard to make it to breakfast (7am-10:30am) with time change, but it was nice to have coffee available from 7am-10pm & water all day. Most days had lunch at Coconut Grill - great lunch options (hamburgers, wings, wraps, salads, etc.) Buffet dinner options were good. Did not make reservations @ Pizza Factory. Entertainment: Provided each night from around 7-10pm around the Long Bar. Very basic with a singer, karaoke, or a DJ, but it was fine. Service: Service was hit or miss. Most times we had to get our own drinks from buffet. Most bar tenders were good. Beach: Gorgeous & quiet
Good food and strong drinks!
Bad experience
Not so good experience. Reception check-in staff not so friendly - they made us wait even though the room was ready. There was no water supply in the washrooms at all. When we got to the room, there was not a drop of water in the sink or shower. After few hours, water supply was restored. Although all-inclusive, no mini bar in the room or even bottled water. Only one restaurant that gets filled with reservations when we had to stand in line in the morning to make reservation. Not a good place to stay.
Property is old
Rooms are a bit small but has everything you need and the property is gorgeous all around. I really enjoyed my stay here.
Outdated but the beach was wonderful
The staff was very friendly, especially Myra, one of the chefs. The food was good. I hope after their upgrades they include an ice cream/sandwich bar. The beach was amazing and the pool was lovely. Overall my stay was good.
I'm not sure where to start. Our experience began on a disappointing note when we entered our room, which was small and outdated—I'm 5'11" and my husband is 6'2", making it cramped. The mosquitoes were quite aggressive, and we had to complain to get a screen door. To make matters worse, construction workers were outside our second-floor balcony at 7 a.m., which was very disruptive. After raising our concerns, it took three days to move us to a more suitable room. Room service was complimentary for stays over six days, and the food was decent, especially for those on a diet. The beach was definitely the highlight of our stay, along with the locally brewed beer from the owner. This place has great potential but needs room renovations and a wider food selection.
The property has great beach access and the staff are friendly. Everything else is just ok. It’s an older resort and we didn’t get our room after an hour later as they needed to fix some “issues” in our room. Communication to the guests are very poor. As they didn’t notify us when they had to turn off the water in the entire property as they were fixing the main water pipes. We had the water back later in the day. It was a nightmare! The phone in our room wasn’t working too so we have to run to the reception area for every issue we have. They also don’t clean your room regularly so you need to let them know ahead of time. There’s not much food options. They have 1 ala carte, 1 buffet, 1 grill and 1 cafe. If you need to dine at the a la carte, you need to be online at 7am before the reservation desk opens at 7:30am, otherwise, you wouldn’t get a table.
The location could not be! The beach is absolutely gorgeous! For an all-inclusive resort, the food was very tasty. The only downside is the resort is a bit dated. The bed was comfortable, but the rooms could use a major upgrade. We didn’t focus on that too much because when you’re there, you’re rarely in your rooms, but the bathroom Definitely needs a redo. We would definitely go back.
We truly enjoyed our stay. This is an older resort & not a 5 star gold crown. We got what we paid for. The beach was beautiful & chairs were aplenty. We enjoyed the pool bar & outside long bar. New Year’s Eve buffet was excellent. The location of this resort was a $40 taxi ride from the airport & $50 round trip to St John, where the cruise port is. Roads are very narrow, I would not recommend renting a car. Overall, my husband & I were looking for a relaxing week & that is what we had!
Honestly horrible experience. Apparently the water pipe burst and property had no water. Room’s completely outdated so old the toilet handle broke so no flushing.. rooms don’t even come with water bottle and or fridges. WiFi is non extintent even though you pay for it. Front desk cara or Clara horrible person
Staff needed a little more customer service training Hit or miss on ocean view even if you paid for ocean view
The ocean view is amazing, sunsets and rises are spectacular. Building is ok, rooms are small and out dated, bed was comfortable. Food options were adequate. Pool bar ran out of vodka for two days and then ran out of coke. Other bars had the liquor so I didn't understand why they couldn't get it from another bar so they didn't inconvenience their cutsomers.
DATED but great Beach, food good, half the service people are nice, half of them have an attitude. Rooms haven't been updated in many years but they're working on it slowly
Its not like a normal all inclusive resort, no waiting staff to get drinks for you around pool or beach, no 24 room service and no food or drinks at certain times of day. No bar frig in room. No maid service daily
The hotel was very old fashion nothing is up to date and the food sucks
Ok place
Beautiful beach!
Disappointed with the Resort, but Antigua Itself is Amazing I recently stayed at Jolly Beach Resort in Antigua and was disappointed with the experience. While the pools were nice and the beach was absolutely stunning, the resort itself was very bare minimum. Unfortunately, the food and drinks left a lot to be desired—lacking quality and variety. I wouldn’t recommend the all-inclusive option here. Half of the staff were so nice, the other half did not want to be there. If you wanted a water you would get an eye roll. The beach, although beautiful, had some litter like beer bottle caps and fruit left behind by guests, which was a bit disappointing. That said, Antigua as a destination was incredible. Everything outside the resort—from the food to the atmosphere—was far better. Next time, I would explore a different accommodation option and skip the all-inclusive.
Every single staff member there seemed like they hated working there. Literally every one of them was rude and you could tell they didn't want to be working there. The property is straight out of the 70s and needs a ton of work/updating. The property was very dirty and not well maintained. I do not recommend staying here.
Swim up bar was a joke
While the property is in a good location the rooms were very small, there was not even space for our luggage and the washroom was a disaster
I like how the market is up the street
Nice resort!
This place is what the reviews say. Small rooms, beautiful beach and pool, meals are good and liquor/ beer are well drinks. Overall a good experience.
Great stay. Property is outdated but they are working on upgrades. Area is beautiful. Jolly harbor is great for additional restaurants/nightlife. Great island getaway!
Beach access was very nice and price was reasonable
We really wanted to like this property and went into it with no expectations however this place was completely run down and old. We’ll start with the Pros: •Beaches are beautiful •The resort is well spaced out and even though this was a holiday with a full resort, we never felt like we were on top of others, having plenty of space. Never had trouble finding a chair by the pool or beach. •Service at the restaurant and bars was decent. You could definitely tell some worked harder than others. The CONS: •Oh my goodness this place is so OLD! Imagine an old motel from 1980 and that’s exactly what this place is and has not been upgraded since it was built. Closed after Covid and reopened 2023 •upon check in, you will receive a physical key for your room and another physical key for your safe box. There is only a door knob for your room door. The buildings are so old, the room doors are hard to open and you are awaken every time a neighbor has to slam their door shut. •these rooms are TINY and the bathroom is the size of a cruise ship. There are no electrical outlets in the bathroom and only TWO total outlets in the entire room. •The shower was so small! We did have hot water however the water pressure in the shower was a slow trickle. •The patio furniture is cheap and not comfortable. Views from the rooms are mostly blocked unless you happen to get a top floor •the beach is NOT private and full of vendors. Stay away from the right side which is full of cruise ship guests.
Most (NOT ALL ) Female staff were rude
Reviews are accurate. Its a budget friendly resort. Not fancy- 2-3 star resort, BUT staff are super friendly and the beach is amazing!
Jolly Beach is a great family and budget friendly place for the holidays. The staff is helpful and kind. Some of the rooms need updating (particularly the AC units) but when the beach is this perfect who stays in the room? All inclusive makes it easy for everyone to get what they need. Highly Recommend.
Enjoyed our staff. The property is very dated and food runs out fast but the staff is amazing and the food and drinks are good. Would stay again.
Great value hotel that’s not “posh” but has everything you need, situated on a phenomenal beach.
The rooms are from a 1940s era. There is no coffee maker nor a standard mini fridge in the room. The AC is a retrofitted chill water system with the controller making you feel you have temp control when there is just on/off as the temp control is fake. No bottled water available but you can get a glass of water when the bar is opened. The coffee area only opens at 6:30am but this is irregular. Asked front desk about it and was roughly told to go and buy a bottle of water in the grocery in the village. The food available is repetitively simple with the drinks being of unheard brands....don't touch the white wine! The gym has very dated equipment with no working treadmill. The natural beach is great though! All staff are afraid of the manager Murphy who just walks around reigning terror on staff but no interaction with clients...not even a good morning. If the beach was not so good , this place would have been shuttered long ago. Go as a last resort.
They need a big upgrade on the rooms. If you looking for a nice room do not book them cause they cheap.
Property: Facilities are old, unclean, not updated. No eye for clean. Paper will stay on sidewalk for days with one one picking up, plumbing issues, noise Staff: Front desk staff rude, not helpful. Nasty attitude, people need assistance and their attitude is not customer friendly Outside aesthetics: Landscaping is poor, weeds , trash not picked up Gym: No dumbbells, 3 machines work, 1 seated leg press, 1 shoulder machine, poor lighting, no cleanliness protocols, paper towels, alcohol for clean Bar: Wine is from a box, lower shelf whiskey, rum (cavalier?), do have fruity drinks, no Prosecco. Gift shop: Limited on everything including f souvenirs. BEACH: Beautiful! That was the highlight Pizza Paradise- Food is relatively good. Pizza is not, pasta entrees are very good Buffet- Limited variety. Entertainment: Limited to calypso band, soloists Management: Limited knowledge of how to work a business, no sense of urgency , not friendly, not helpful with employees.
The staff was no gentle , bad atitude
Quiet and safe environment. Staff was quite helpful….
Worst vacation ever at Jolly Beach resort starting Christmas Eve 2024. I booked through Expedia, the only room available was a double twin. We were celebrating my friend’s milestone birthday, and they chose this resort. I called Expedia regarding the room change. I was told by Expedia's representative to ask for the change at the resort. Day 1-At check in I asked for a room change. I was told the resort was booked, and to check back in the morning. 1st room had twin beds (yes it was a twin bed like in a child’s room). My significant other pushed the 2 beds together. Due to the type of mattress, the edges were extremely hard. We couldn’t lie in the middle of the bed. Day 2-Christmas day the resort manager allowed the change to a king room that was above to restaurant. The new room was old with stained white tiles, but we just wanted a larger bed. After dinner while we’re unpacking, I opened the sliding closet door and the door fell off. The phone did not work. Water was gushing from of the ceiling above the onlyexit from our room. We got wet whenever we left our room. We were told we can get our previous room. My S/o declined. BTW Carla was rude. Day 3-The air conditioner stopped working. Day 4-Only the door and the leak was fixed. Some wait staff at the buffet at breakfast-time were not attentive. The pork chop at the Pizza factory “special dinner” gave 2 in our diarrhea. The pork chop also looked like it had factory grill marks, almost like a fast food burger
I love this resort
Amazing beach!! Fun vibe; ok food. Great for a large group of people looking for fun times.
It was a nice resort with very friendly staff. The beach is EXTREMELY nice.
My stay was okay
could use more machines and some dumbbells and an exercise mat for the fitness center.
The property itself was nice. Not big, very well maintained. While there were staff members that were very nice and helpful, there were others that were not as friendly and seemed bothered when asked anything. Food options were not vast, but food itself for the most part was great. We were never hungry and looked forward to dining. The pizza restaurant requires reservations and is booked by 8am and the food is great. No entertainment during the day. We went in December so I dont know if that may change throughout the year. Our room was absolutely dated. Furniture was very old and breaking down, the tv had limited channels that you couldnt watch due to lack of cable. The bathroom was the worst of it. Disgusting, super small and the door was too big that it didnt close. We wore flipflops to shower and ran out immediately. Hot water worked great. As we walked thru the property, rooms were under construction, so if this improves, this place will be much better. If you’re looking for a more of a quiet getaway this may be the place once the rooms and bathrooms are updated
The property grounds are very well maintained and has one of the nicest/pettiest beaches on the island. Its a 5 minute walk to Jolly Harbour Marina, so it was very easy to get to excursion pick ups and offsite restaurants! The food options at the property were limited, no room service and no refrigerator/mini bar in room. For the price it was worth it.
Best Birthday Ever
This hotel is nice and is right on the beach. Don't listen to the negative reviews. Of course it needs to be remodeled but who cares. The room was nice, bed was soft, hot water, food was great, drinks were so good, location was perfect. A grocery store is a short 10 min walk. The hotel staff was so nice it was my birthday and they treated me like royalty. I will book this hotel again it saved me thousands of dollars compared to the other hotels.
My wife and I had an excellent experience. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, even remembering our names and preferences. What stood out was the fact that they facilitated our early check in and late check out by allowing us access to all facilities and meals during these times. The meals were of a very high caliber (special thanks to Carl, the head chef) and the drinks were professionally made (special shout out to Nichelle, and Phillip). There was always a security presence, even on the beach in the nights, so it was fantastic taking night dips and lounging under the stars (Hi to Lee) and despite being in the background they were always willing to assist. If I were forced to think of any shortcomings it would be that the wifi is very spotty, unless you are in the main public areas. Otherwise than that, it was a fantastic vacation and we will definitely return.
The staff was excellent they paid attention to details
Convenient access to a beautiful beach
Overall the property is a little dated, the rooms to the is terrible.
Rooms are old the furniture is broken , bathrooms no comment 😑, ac super strong cant regulate the temperature, dont recomend
Anyone who leaves a bad review for this property has unrealistic expectations. If you are looking for a 5 star ultra fancy resort this is not the place for you. If you want the nicest stretch of beach in the entire country and 2 pools with wonderful people, good food and cold drinks than you couldn’t ask for anything more. An extra thank you to Kahree and Patrick at the long bar taking care of us every night.
The staff, beach, pools and food were very good. The hotel needs renovations, however, you cant beat their cost to provide you with an all inclusive vacation. If you are not looking for luxury, I recommend Jolly Beach
This property was beautiful. The large pool was stunning. We went in August and there weren't many guests. We were disappointed in the restaurants only open certain days. Buffet was okay. The beach was clean and water warm to swim in. Staff was horribly rude. I went to order food at the restaurant by the pool and was not greeted and very rude. Not friendly or welcoming anywhere. Every staff person acted like we were bothering them when asking for pool towels or questions. Check in was weird as the front desk was closed and we were sent to a small air-conditioned room for both check in and check out. Had to switch rooms because ac wasn't working. The people on beach selling excursions etc were pushy. Most likely will not return.
The resort and rooms were dated. The food was good. They don’t have enough staff in my opinion, at the buffet you could wait a while for a table when the majority of them are open. The staff they did have was pleasant. The beach was beautiful. I would definitely stay here again.
The beach, food, and staff were amazing. Hotel is a little dated- but who stays in their room all day anyway. We spent the majority of our time on the beach or in excursions.
Very good stay.
Beautiful beach nice view
Wow- this is surprisingly BAD
From the cinder block cell to the “doing me a favor” service, I’m a little disappointed. I bear much of the responsibility- I should have known better. I only ate on property one night- a pizza that clearly started in a box. I’ve never taken the time to pen a negative review but frankly, the disclosure is necessary.
Beach was excellent, meals, drinks and service also excellent, cant fault the property so going back for sure.
For the price excellent only draw back room furnature is outdated
The staff are what make this place absolutely enjoyable. The gym did not look as advertised and the rooms are a little on the small side but the beautiful ocean and beach located seconds from your room and two good pools make up for it. The food is pretty good. Menu changes everyday and the pizza factory offers 2 different menus alternating days. Grocery store, 2 bars and 4 restaurants within 5 min walking distance.
Property a little outdated. Friendly staff
This resort is a 3 star resort and if you go expecting that, you will be fine. Doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles but the basics are there. The most gorgeous beach, mostly good food (buffet is a hit or miss, but beach grill and ala carte are great), good drinks. Yes, rooms need work. They are slightly better than when we visited 5 years ago. Our only dislike was that sometimes the staff seemed really bothered that they are there to help. Not all, some of them were really sweet. We understand that they are not happy to deal with a bunch of foreigners on vacation and didn’t let it bother us when it happened.
Very nice place to stay food and staff are great. Only the WIFI needs to be upgraded had no access in our room.
Courteous staff, very beautiful place. Only issues I experienced were slow wifi, one too many flies and the hot water wasn’t working properly.
Positives and negatives, but the trip is what you make it. We enjoyed ourselves by lowering our expectations of the quality.
No air conditioning areas at all other than the very small old room
This property is definitely a 3 star resort. The rooms are very small and the food options are limited. The restaurant The Pizza Factory is one of the highlights along with the gorgeous beach. The pool is amazing and clean. Staff at the restaurant are awesome. Probably would not return to this resort in the future.
ood were great. We didn’t come down here to own the room just shower and sleep. Everything was great and the staff were very friendly and open.
Place is clean and like to beach and most important, the staff. Did not like the concrete structure in the rooms and lack of wi-fi service throughout the property.
It is worth staying beautiful
Loved the location! Not a lot to do but perfect for a relaxing long weekend !!
The staff was very good, but the property was very old and dirty
This was our first trip to Antigua and stay at the Jolly Beach and it did not disappoint. If you want a quiet place to relax, enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches, and eat great food then this is the place for you!
Amazing experience
Rooms were small and food areas have too much flies. Staff was friendly and welcoming which was nice. Resort was nice overall apart from the room size and the flies.
Terrible Will not stay again
Even though this is an older property, the rooms were clean, the food was very good, and the staff was overall friendly and helpful. But, the beach is stunning. It's huge , crystal blue waters, soft white sand, plenty of areas to sit and people are never right in top of you. I have been here several times ... for the beach and low key , chill vibes. I recommend 👌!
Check-in was slow however the evening meal and food options were great. The room was very outdated and required modernising. The breakfast in the morning was awesome. WiFi wasn’t great across the hotel facilities. Lovely beach great food tho and friendly/warm staff. Check-out was extremely slow and two staff members had no idea what they were doing.
The pool and beach area were excellent. The staff was amazing and the food was delicious. The reason for the 4 stars is because the room is dated and the ac wasn’t working properly.
Property could use some TLC. Some of the staff were so rude others so friendly you really didn’t know what you were going to get. Breakfast was a miss. The bar by the pool was great for a quick lunch and dinner was a hit or miss. Rooms need an upgrade. No elevators.
Excelent
The beach is 10/10 , it’s literally the nicest beach I’ve seen on the island .. all the food has been so delicious, we walked to a restaurant once just to try it which is nice to be able to walk to things like stores and restaurants

The weather was great!! The service is average nothing big....there was no drinking water at the room...its not in the all exclusive package they said....food was average, drinks was cool...thats it...beautiful beach!
