Hudek-designed building in close proximity to both restaurants and the metro. Housekeeping staff were great, kept us supplied with bottled water and coffee pods for the Nespresso machine. FOH and concierge helped us find our way around (I've been to Shanghai many times, but it's been a few years). All in all, a great stay.
shanghai is my hometown
All are good expect for the room toliet it very old.
The hotel could be great, but it lacks proper maintenance, it really smells "cheap" it has a great location.
Nice old hotel but that is about it
The hotel was nice and first up graded our room to one overlooking the park. The problem was we heard the birds at 3:30 and cars racing at 4. We asked if we could change to a quieter room and told we would have to go back to our original booked room which was smaller. The concierge was very nice to my wife and she asked him for help. They got us a bigger room with double panes windows which we couldn’t hear any traffic noise. Also, the air conditioning and heat didn’t work. The room was cold the first night we check-in. We wanted heat and was told it was shut off to save money. The food at breakfast was cold instead of hot. My wife said it had no taste and was cold. The only fresh fruit we had on the first day was bananas. They did go get some watermelon after I asked which was old and had no taste the whole time we stayed there. The bacon was undercooked. Breakfast was very disappointing. Last, if not for the concierge helping us. The main staff at the desk was not help helpful and rude to my wife and I. We were checking in and the staff interrupted our check-in to take care of them. The staff would not change our room. Very disappointing stay!
Great location, steps from subway station and easy access to every where. Located in the famous tourism area, pretty crowded. The hotel has a long history and very famous in China, the facilities are pretty good, the only issue is the size of dinning hall, it is too crowded during the breakfast time.
5 star service and architecture for this 4 star hotel
Nice location but a bit out-dated
Room is small, furniture is worn out. No heating due to maintenance. Great location, close to subway, shopping and restaurants. Stayed there a couple times. Maybe will come back again.
Thank you.
Thanks to Wu Ling and Mr. Chen for their cordial, professional help at check-in. Staff were aces. Thanks especially to Mr. Yu Chi Gang for his warm welcome and farewell at each entrance and exit.
Good position and kind staffs
Very good hotel staff very pleasant although there were not enough English speaking staff and I was a bit frustrated as on a few occasions I called room service for simple things ie slippers ice and extra pillows and I had to physicaly show them what I wanted
A weekend in Shanghai
The location of this hotel is very good and central, just opposite Exit#9 and Exit#10 of People’s Square Subway Station. Going to Pudong or Hongqiao Airport from here is also very easy, highly recommended for both business or family travelers. Room wise is big, clean with fast WIFI bandwidth, didn’t try the Resturant as there were plenty of eateries located near to the hotel. A good base to stay and explore Shanghai, I would definitely return again.
Close to Nanjing Lu
convenient ton PEOPLE’s park and nanjing road pedestrian mall
This photo does not do justice to ambiance
The location can not be beat. One can get to Pudong airport via metro in under an hour (checkout form hotel to check in at airport, and maybe even quicker from passing customs to check-in at hotel) .Central location also super for meeting friends and inviting local colleagues for gatherings. Huge number of restaurants, stores, and museums within 5-10 min walk. It is one of most famous buildings form 1930s.Thus it is the ambience and furnishings of that era that make it very, very special . If possible have a room from 4th floor or higher. At level 3, room has poor ventilation and can be damp
The receptionist (a girl) was not friendly when I checked in. Another male employee was playing game using his phone at the counter. They do not look very professional.
The room wasn’t clean !! And they stole my power bank!! Horrible experience
The staff is nice, always open doors for me. The room cleaning crew always waited until I leave to clean the room. TV did not work but I didn’t have time to report it. Carpet may need to be changed.
Great Stay
Hotel is located at the center of the city, meaning you can go to pretty much anywhere else quickly. Metro is just across the street and has three lines where one directly connects to the airport. Local food can be easily found at the back street. Hotel is generally clean and staff are always ready to help. Price is reasonable compared to hotels around the area.
Historical charm
Fine hotel that has aged well with time. Hotel itself contains many historical artifacts perfect for Shanghai history buffs. Located just across the metro and the People's Park with many places reachable within walking distance. Try out the famous pastry shop in the same building. Staff are helpful with luggage and directions.
The hotel was lovely - we had a very comfortable room and the staff were extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they helped us with booking trains and taxis for our onward journey. It's well located for accessing shops and the lively night market is just around the corner.
Heritage hotel next to metro station
An outdated heritage hotel. However, if you were born in Shanghai 30years ago, you should stay in this hotel for a night, at least. It is just outside of metro station People's Square. Close to everything and it was the tallest building in Shanghai for 50 or 60 years.
Stayed here with wife for 3 nights. The hotel is old but looks well maintained. Bed and pillows were fairly comfortable. Location is super as just opposit a exit ( no. 9 or 8 ) of the People's Square metro station so travelling around is convenient. Plenty of food choice ( Huanghe Road ) just along the street almost next to the hotel. The hotel also has shutter service link-up to the airport.
The hotel is located in the heart of Shanghai, within 5 minutes walking distance to the most famous shopping district, and 15 minutes to Bund. Many restaurants and Shanghai Theatre are nearby
Nice hotel at Nanjing Road, good location
Enjoyed good foods at the surrounding restaurants. The hotel is right across People's Park and close to The Bund. Transportation to the area no problem at all since there is a metro train station close by, very convenient.
They have no idea how to treat guests
My stay at this hotel got off to a good start, when they upgraded me to a suite. But it was downhill from there. The room was tired, with things like warn carpets and holes in the wall paper. It was a suite, but it had no shower, only a bath. I had to try 4 times to order room service. Calling the room service people was a waste of time. Breakfast was 95% Chinese options, with just a token side table of Western food. On Friday afternoon, I decided to have a sleep. I put the Do Not Disturb sign on, but that didn't stop the staff knocking on my door and calling me to see if they could do some housekeeping. Finally I checked out a day early, just to get away from them. Remember the name - Jin Jiang group hotels are off my list.
Very nice old hotel located at center of Shanghai.
Room 820. The best view. Incredible.
Loved every part of our stay at the Park Hotel. Service and food in the second floor restaurant so very nice and décor lovely.
health-affecting sewage stench from bathroom sink
My parents and I are native Shanghainese who moved to California years ago, and we visit our hometown every year. My dad and I were extremely excited about staying in the Park Hotel due to its important history, but our room had incredible issues with sewage stench - I'm talking about an inescapable sewage stench that you could smell from every part of the room. I swear I can smell it even now. It was literally nauseating. I could not sleep. It took talking to multiple people on multiple occasions to get a room switch. I commend the night manager for helping us out with an upgrade, and the day manager for offering his apologies. The service was professional, but unfortunately, the sewage smell rivaled country toilets and was a problem (though to a lesser extent) in the second room. Not to be cruel, but we are very surprised that the Park Hotel is able to stay in business. There are good people working here but also glaring problems in the plumbing system that makes this hotel unlivable.
Old building, was the tallest building in Far Eastern. Good traditional Chinese food.
Great room, helpful staff and excellent location
I got a deluxe room, which was very excellent. It was very large, well equipped, clean, very good aircon and a number of opening windows. It was right by exit 9 of the metro, Peoples Square station, right downtown and an easy walk from the Bund. The Maglev goes from the airport to Longyang Rd, which is on the same no 2 metro line, so you can get to the airport in about half an hour for 55CNY
Great location but tired hotel
Hotel is in a great location but quite tired and rough around the edges. Staff were efficient.
close to Nanjing Road
I stayed before in this hotel and I enjoyed my time there. I will book again in my next trips to China.
Close to Nanjing Road
I had a wonderful time in this hotel and I booked for two more nights when I finished my business in the other city. It is close to the shopping center, people park, and Nanjing Road activities.
Nice location, poor condition, bad smell.
room smells like mold. bathtub not draining, shower head not stable, good water pressure but you can't really use it because if you turn it up, your shower head will be jumping around like sprinkler. none-smoking level full of cigaret smell.
not clean but good location
Picked this hotel because of the location. great location but that's probably the only thing positive I would say about this hotel. this is a very old hotel but an old hotel shouldn't mean it's not clean. their bathroom is terrible, which I think is a management issue not facility issue. the cleaning lady is very nice and friendly when you meet her down the hall way but she does a lousy clean job. bath is draining, hairs (previous guest's) all over, one day I even found a dirty towel behind the toilet (it looks like she used that towel to clean things)...
Priceless gem.
Priceless gem. This is a beautiful piece of artchitectural heritage. Every little architerctural detail (from the black & white small tiles in the bathroom to the solid flooring) is a delight, not to mention the butterfly crackers at the hotel bakery. The staff can seem a little surly at times and the personnel rotate all the time (I have stayed here more than 5 times) but these are small quibbles. I will stay nowhere else in Shanghai.
Nice hotel close to People's square.
Very convenient location, and old but good room. Their English isn't good, but it may be above the Chinese standard. Wifi is available anywhere in the hotel. The only complaint I had was that the beverage consumed was not refilled until I checked out.
It's an excellent hotel. The room is very clean and room service is good. The bed is comfortable, Air condition and shower room also is excellent .
Classic hotel, not too expensive
I've stayed in this hotel many times, and like it because it is very close to everything in downtown Shanghai. I particularly liked the small Japanese restaurant, which is a new feature--very good for a lunch or dinner for one person. Hotel.com did not suggest, however, that I book the hotel with breakfast included, so my breakfast was more expensive than it needed to be.
Good
The hotel was in a very good location. Friendly staff, good restaurant. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The only downside was the smell in the bathroom . We think it is from the drains. The bathroom was clean. We have rebooked in the same hotel. Hoping to get a room without the smell.
Good location
The hotel is located opposite People's Square subway station exit 9. It is within walking distance to Nanjing Road and the Bund. However, the wifi is very slow.
Singapore
It was pretty convenient to get to from the train station.
Great location!
The Park hotel is still an icon in Shanghai. It has a lot of history. It is however, quite tired and in need of a complete refurbish on the inside.
Very nice hotel
Park hotel is a delight for history and architecture buffs. Built in the 1930s, this is a heritage-listed art-deco beauty. My standard single room was very nice. Nice front desk people. Very nice breakfast. Solid and well-maintained overall. Charming old-style knobs/switches by the bed htough some of them seem to be coming off. Splendid view of people's square an Nanjing Rd. Park hotel was the tallest building in Shanghai when it was built but now looks so puny that my taxi driver laughed (affectionately) at its height when we drove here today.
Great location, but a little outdated
The location is spot on. Right smack in the city center, you really can't have it any better. The bathroom tub leaks and the water runs down the drain pretty slow. Wifi is free and pretty fast.
Nice hotel, good location in front of People Squar
Good location in front of metro. Old building and well maintained except for shower walls need deep cleaning
Small dirty and pimps abundant
Small dirty hotel with rude and unfriendly staff. Come in late through the entrance and prep to be accosted by men trying to pimp out girls. Definitely not family friendly and the only plus is the cheap price and good location.
The room was comfortable, the location good for what I wanted to do...people nice...internet worked
Great location, but needs a little work
The hotel was in a great location (half hour walk to the Bund), however, the staff was not as friendly as I had hoped (need to smile) and language barrier was an issue. The room could use a face-lift. Perhaps a coat of paint or new wall paper. The bathroom facet was very loose and water leaked through the counter onto the floor - rust on the floor as there was a weigh scale sitting in the water. Beds were comfortable - WiFi was weak at best.
I was happy with the room and the location but very unhappy about the assumption that if I had booked on an online site I was therefore happy to take whatever they give me on the check-in. This didn't happen on one occasion but on two which leads me to believe that it is their policy. I booked a Non Smoking, King Bed room on the two times, which was an extra $35 dollars per night than the twin room option. Anyway, each time I checked in they gave me a smoking twin room, and I told them that that is not what I had booked. They told me to ring Expedia and deal with it with them. I said that I hadn't booked with Expedia and insisted that I had booked the better room, and paid the extra money for it. In the end I won, but they told me that this was an upgrade, and I said that it wasn't, that that is what I had paid for. So why should this happen twice? We (my wife and I) were not happy with this treatment - to be treated unfairly because we had utilized an online booking service obviously.
Beautiful Art Deco style hotel
A beautiful, clean hotel in a fantastic location, right on People's Park and across the road from a subway entrance. A one minute walk to Huanghe Road, one of Shanghai's prime food streets. Very comfortable beds, which was a nice change from the typically very hard beds we found in our accommodation in other parts of China. The hotel staff were also incredibly helpful, going out of their way to provide assistance. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Across from The People's Park
Good location. Hotel could use a little spiffing up. A little old and in need of a cleaning. Had to request a cleaner room due to an odor problem in my first assigned room. The staff was very polite and accommodating
Nice view, but that's about it.
Admittedly, the hotel is situated right along a really good intersection filled with street side food, restaurants, and shops. However, the hotel itself doesn't fulfill any of its old reputation/history. We've been back to China a few times, and this time, we stayed at some small, local (dingy and sketchy) hotels. The Park Hotel was a definite upgrade from the other cheaper places, but it's lost its shine over the past few decades and its price relative to other places in China does not adequately scale with the service and what's offered. When we checked in, we were told that the two rooms we reserved a long time ago would be on completely different floors and would be smoking friendly. This is funny since we reserved non-smoking rooms (two of us are allergic to smoke fumes) and had a print-out proving it. Until we showed the person at the desk the print-out from our original reservations, he kept attempting to deny that we'd requested non-smoking rooms and shoved us towards pricey room "upgrades." Like many other reviewers have mentioned, this place will attempt to sucker you into any number of overpriced "upgrades." He finally offered "non-smoking" rooms that ultimately turned out to be smoking ones. Fumes everywhere in the vents and halls. Apparently, lying is okay. The plumbing in both rooms had problems and breakfast was the worst (and most expensive) buffet we were offered in China. Waiters, despite being many, were unresponsive, slow, and rude.
perfect location
The park hotel is in such a perfect location, right at the top of nanjing road, and only a 20-30 minute walk down to 'The Bund' which is a beautiful area down by the river. On arrival they talked us into upgrading to a better room on a higher floor, it cost only £20 extra a night so we thought we would, but on seeing the room which was a little be rundown we asked for a different room. It was on a much lower floor but was in a better condition, clean and comfortable enough for our two night stay. On check out we still got charged an extra £40 for the upgrade that we didnt get, The receptionist did not seen to understand what i was telling her. It did not spoil our short trip to Shanghai.
good hotel
There were no problems with the room - very clean & comfortable. The location is great - near People's Park, Nanjing Road shopping, a little longer walking distance to the Bund, but doable. Front desk service was slow, inefficient, and rude. All other services- housekeeping, baggage hold, etc. were excellent.
Fast and Friendly
After booking online, check-in to the hotel was easy with friendly service. Room was spacious and nice, and the deep bath tub allowed for a relaxing evening after a rough day. Room kept tidy and staff always quick to respond to my requests. Best part: located directly across from the metro (subway system) and close to city center. Lots of shopping on Nanjing Road too! Would stay again if ever in Shanghai again.
comfy bed, convinient location
Easy to find and well located at the centre of Shanghai. Attitude of the reception staff was a little poor, but nothing to get excited over. Room had a strange smell, as if they had tried to use some bad deodoriser to hide the fact that is used to be a smoking room.
Asia by sea
The location was very central and easy walking or close to bus and train. The room was a little dark and we needed to have the lights on during the day but other than that was comfortable.
Average experience at good price
It was ok for just me traveling alone. But, once my wife showed up, we moved to the raddison blu down the street. The Jin jiang park is ok, great breakfast, all the bare bones stuff was there, just nothing very special about the place. Also, my room blew a fuse in the morning as I was watching TV and charging my mobile, so the electrical infrastructure of the building could probably use some rehabbing.
Nice hotel close to every thing.
Every thing was good except for the smell of smoke at the front door to the foyer.
great location
They talked me into a room upgrade I didn't need, but that's on me. Stayed here several times because the location is so good.
Needs attention,.....badly.
Interesting old building and well located for my business purposes and I expect also for tourism. Place was clean and the bed was ok. Air conditioning didn't work and there was little breeze available through the windows. The room I had was a twin and way over furnished - for example, what is the point of having a coffee table and two chairs crammed between the wall and the bed? The hotel would do be better to remove excess furniture and provide more space for guests to move. The in-room internet was practically useless. The bathroom floor had a drain at least six inches in diameter with a loose tin drain cover that could not be secured. Effectively this useless piece of hardware leaves a hole in the floor exactly where you need to stand to use the basin! The shower nozzle was old worked like a partially blocked tap, that is, no shower spay. If you are reading this I am sure you get the point by now. Would I stay there again? No.
Great location, fine enough hotel
The hotel has a great location in People's Square. The rooms are fine - nothing super special - but ok for the price. Had some little issues - like a lightbulb in the bathroom was out - and my magnetic card key did not work a few times. Once they had to come up and fix the unit in my room door which took about 30 minutes. One issue was the staff is ALWAYS busy - no matter what time early morning, mid day, middle of the night. I routinely had to wait 20 minutes or more to speak to someone at the front desk for any request. Also the breakfast buffet was *exceptionally* mediocre. At 20 USD or so - there are dramatically better options right around the hotel for much cheaper I'm sure
Great location but...
I am a fan of the heritage hotels of Shanghai so I have been staying in a few of them on each successive stay. Although I love the Art Deco style of the entry and foyer of the Park Hotel, I was let down but the extreme smell in the hallway in the morning and the generally average condition of the place. Checking in and out took way too long and in summary I doubt I will be staying there again.
Close to the centre of Shanghai
Enjoyed very much.
Unfriendly staff, cigarette stench in rooms
I specifically asked for a non-smoking room upon checking in and was told I had to upgrade. The room I was given reeked like cigarettes and even had an ashtray on one of the side tables. When I called the front desk, the staff insisted it was a non-smoking room; their solution was to offer to remove the ashtray. I went to talk to the manager and they then told me that they had in fact recently changed the non-smoking floor and offered me a new room. The new room also reeked like cigarettes. Frustrated, I went down to the reception. The receptionist kept insisting it was a non-smoking room, but offered to call her manger. The next thing that happened was unbelievable; after she spoke to her manager she told me that "it was ok - I could smoke in the room if I wanted." She must have misunderstood and thought I wanted a smoking room and proceeded to tell me I could smoke in what she minutes ago had insisted was a non-smoking room. Incredible! Not only were the rooms terrible because of the stench, they also charged for just about everything under the moon. Coffee? 48 RMB. Shampoo? 35 RMB. (No warning that they would charge extra.) The breakfast buffet, which was pretty lousy to begin with, was 120 RMB + 15 % service charge for non-existent service. Food items were missing for more than 30 minutes and I had to get my own plate and cutlery. Staff never smiled and seemed bothered when I asked them a question. Definitely not a 4 star hotel! Stay away at all costs!
Good location
EFTPOS machine wasn't working. Tap over basin needs attention. But otherwise first class. Will be returning to Shanghai later this year and we intend to book there again.
depends on what do you want
excellent location in Shanghai; a bit of old shanghai history in the hotel; facility is a bit old, and room needs some improvement
Classic hotel in a prime location.
Very satisfied. Staff very professional and attentive.
Park Hotel
The Park Hotel was very nice and its classic architecture and history make is a very attractive place to stay. It is very centrally located directly across from the People Square park and the metro stop. You can easily take the Metro to and from the airport even if you have a large luggage because it is so close and both are on Line 2 so there is no changing lines to worry about. Other attractions within a short walk include the Shanghai Museum, Big Bus, tons of shopping and restaurants, even the Bund is only a 30 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Shanghai.
Park Hotel
Hotel is well placed and surrounded with many shopping malls and travel center and many other things.
Old Grandeur but Low Cost
Used to be a 'big' hotel but a bit dated now. Very nice, good service and decent location especially for the price.
Park Hotel
Very good hotel. Everything is perfect. The room though could be slightly bigger, but it is good enough for one person. $10 for coffe in lobby is ridiculous, but breakfast buffet for $20 was good. I stayed in a cheapest room, it has three windows, one window has an amazing view of the square, 10th floor. I recommend this hotel!
Wonderful Hotel
Stayed at half dozen other hotels in Shanghai and this was the best. Wonderful location, close to subway, restaurants, cultural attractions & Peoples Square. Friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely stay there again! Old hotel but well maintained.
A beautiful hotel. Designed with taste and attention to detail. Kept on a nice scale, too. Good breakfast, very well situated, helpful staff. Sometimes the internet was a bit spotty, both the wifi and the cable, but that might only have been my room. Look forward to staying there again.
Very, very pleased
This hotel is in an excellent location, directly across the street from the main metro hub in Shanghai, People's Square in the main downtown area. It was an excellent value as well. I was offered a number of room options at check-in and I chose a newly renovated room - which was lovely and large. This is not a five star hotel, but a very solid three star.
Good location/helpful staff/Won't go back
The location of the hotel was great! It's in one of the busier touristy spots of Shanghai. The back streets behind the hotel has great street food restaurants for food that is much cheaper than the restaurants on the main drag. Also, found a nice little laundry place 2 streets directly back of the hotel. The staff was helpful and kind. But then, I speak Mandarin fluently. They do try to go out of their way to help foreigners even the language may be a barrier. The hotel itself is very old though. So, had a feeling of not being clean. My bathroom had a bad odor emanating from it. I had to keep the bathroom door shut bc it was such an over powering smell. But for the price, it was a decent place to stay. I would probably want to stay somewhere else when I go back to China.
Perfect location!
Close to everything you want to see!
Good location. Wouldn't stay here again
If you are on a budget, then this would be a good place to go to. If you can spend a little more, I would splurge and go somewhere else. My room, in particular, smelled really bad. I finally figured outthat the smell was coming from my bathroom. So, I started shutting my bathroom door to cut down on the bad smell. It's a budget hotel at best. The location is great. In the heart of the city, so it is close to everything. Their pastry shop is still pretty renowned. But their restuarant is not that great. I wouldn't pay for the cost of the food in their restaurant when there are SO many places to go to nearby. The staff from the Bellboy to the cleaning staff has been really great though. Thestaff took care of us really well but I'm fluent in both Chinese and English. I don't know how helpful the staff would be if you only spoke English.
Ideal for a Short Stay
Value for money! Stayed in this hotel that is very nicely situated. It's near malls and eating areas; transportation is another great feature, coz its 'so very near the subway. Only minor concern is, if you are staying for a longer time, you might find the rooms a tat bit small. Ooh and there is no wifi in the rooms.
Perfect location
After 10 days in other parts of China, Shanghai was a great reprieve. And the Park Hotel was wonderful compared to the other places we had stayed. It is located at the entrance to the Pedestrian Street with shopping and only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Bund. Couldn't beat the location for the price we paid. Very comfortable room and bath. I have no complaints about the Park Hotel.
Heritage property in a very good part of town
It was a cosy room, nice service and above all a heritage ambience that just cannot be replicated easily. I chose Park Hotel Shanghai mainly for its heritage. The city was fine in late March. Fuzhou Road is nearby with its fine book shops.
Old hotel, Great location
Location Location Location! Great location, steps from the most famous road, mrt station, bus stop. Bit noisy, can hear the car honking all night! Nothing much in the hotel itself, not really upgraded. Used to be the famous one.
Pimps in the lobby
The hotel chain is a big one and the hotel holds relevance to the Shanghai history. It is the point 0 of the city. The hotel has the charm of an old building and your first impression will not be bad at all. However, for someone like me who stayed there for 17 days, it was very disturbing to see that there were pimps outside on the hotel staircase each and every day. Further, one of them was a regular in the hotel lobby. If I am visiting with my family, I will never ever go to such a place. As I was traveling alone, often these people tried to contact me offering massages, sex and more. Even when I was with my translator looking for a taxi! Please note, that this is illegal in China and there is no way that the hotel management are not aware of this. Also, for people feeling happy about the "availability" in the hotel or SH, beware that this is a scam and you will end up losing all the money from your credit cards and wallets. Google shanghai scams for more. I understand that such people are a common site on Nanjing Xi Lu, but if I am staying in a hotel and paying good money for it, I will at least want to stay away from such non-sense. The hotel overall was Ok, cleanliness good, club bad, worse business center (charging about $200 for 60 page print is a little too much. I could have bought a printer in that money). My e-key broke down 3-4 times in 17 days. I don't know which hotels to recommend on this street, but maybe know which ones not to visit.
Excellent location
The Park Hotel is historically very important as the first high-rise hotel in Shanghai and has a great location. Although the rooms have had an update since the hotel was first constructed its overall appearance is fairly dated and could do with some TLC The location right on the Peoples Square and close to the metro is excellent. Service was reasonable but not exceptional
Very Good!
This a great hotel, especially for the low price that we paid. The Park Hotel has one of the best locations in Shanghai, very close to Nanjing pedestrian street, right in front of the People's square and a metro station. The room was comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Poor excuse for wifi
The room I stayed in smelled old and musty. I believe this odor came from the bed mostly. The toilets also smelled foul, but possibly because the have open air drains. Cool architecture and history, but doesn't make up for smelly beds. The light switches were also strangely wired, couldn't figure out why you would want a switch to power off the entire room (including temp) Worst of all wifi access and quality was hilarious. The lazy front desk person explained "not good today". Lame
Top location.but need renovated
Top location, but need renovated. Could be a great hotel.
Stay here
Great location. Nice character. Right across the street from the People's Square metro. Food and shopping nearby. East Nanjing Road: 5 min walk. The bund is a 20 min. walk (via East Nanjing Road). Food nearby - walk to Yang's Fry Dumplings.
Great Location
I enjoyed it. I love the location of the hotel, it is in downtown Shanghai. The hotel is near food, entertainment and shopping. The hotel staff were friendly and the overall ambiance of the hotel was great. I will stay at this hotel again.
Great Location
I found the hotel staff and service to be of a satisfactory quality and I did not have any complaints about it all.
Oldest Hotel in Shanghai
It is the oldest hotel in Shanghai but with recent renovation. The best part of this hotel is that there are many small but very tasty eating places on Huang-he Road very near by; specially for breakfast. There are the Xiao Yang fry dumpling house and Jia Jia steam dumpling house; favorates for the local folks.
Park Hotel - great location, not so great service
This hotel is very historic and beautiful and situted right accross the street from the Peoples Square subway line and tons of shopping nearby. The rooms were very well kept and clean. The small bar was pretty overpriced and dull. The service was quite capable but everyone was unfriendly and it seemed like the customers were a bother. Especially the "manager" of the fitness center/salon.
best location
the people at the hotel entrance is keep bothering the hotel guests when they leave holtel or come back to hotels by keep offering massage, watches, some times i was trying to make plans not to see me when i leave the hotel
Great location, old but well maintained hotel
I like this old-arquitecture hotel because of its location, it is unbeatable, just across the street from people's square, 1 block from Nanjing road pedestrian, lots of restaurants and bars on the streats nearby, and not expensive. Clean enough although it could be cleaner. Staff is ok and it has its own karaoke bar, but watch out it is expensive to drink there. Great for business and couples trip, for family trips I might stay on the Pudong side.
chinese new year trip
friendly and comfortable hotel, located in a great part of the city
Beautiful Art Deco hotel facing the People's Park. You get more than you pay.
Very beautiful Art Deco hotel. Naturally it lacks some of the comforts of a modern hotel. Excellente location in front of the People's Park at the befinning of the Nanjing Road. Metro Station on the other side of the street. Rooms OK. Breakfast doesn't worth the price one pays.
