The excellent customer service!
Convenient and quiet.
Every staff member all ready to help any time. Great location and lots of dining options
convenient
This elegant historic hotel is at the very center of the city and very convenient for dining and shopping and transportation . Except of the ongoing renovation with an on/ off construction sound, everything is great .
Quiet, walkable
Very nice location, close to all the stores and restaurants. The staff are also very friendly.
Convenient location to get to everywhere.
Friendly staff, super good location,I love this hotel , old Shanghai style…
Its an old hotel but vintage classic 👌
Room service very bad
It’s very friendly and helpful!
I Like its swimming pool
It was wonderful experience at Jin Jiang Hotel, it is my childhood dream came true, I like to go back to there again!
Only one thing is not satisfied-air condition could not use remote control to control temperature make it cooler
Clean and pretty environment, good service!
Lovely location, helping staff, amazing quality price ratio
Convenient
Location is great. Very convenient to subway, bus, shopping street, food, etc.
Hotel is situated in a quiet neighborhood. It took awhile to find the correct building; Expedia should find out and add this detail. The rooms are older, I did have to switch because of unpleasant odor. There wasn't much amenities (although it was mentioned in the description that there's a spa). While the hotel wasn't terrible, I wouldn't say this is a 5-star hotel. Lastly, I did not like the fact that Jin An Temple is still a 25 minute walk away, even though the description gave 10 minutes. Overall, I am disappointed at the inaccuracy of what I had expected from this hotel.
Bathroom not very clean
In a good neighborhood. Facilities were outdated Service was not well attended
Great Hotel. Great Location! Great Staff.
墙纸陈旧,床单床被感觉有些潮湿,三楼有股类似恶臭味
Very good
Upgrade was nicely provided and location was perfect.
Located in the golden area of Shanghai city.
I booked a room via Expedia specifically for three adults. The hotel advertisement on Expedia said it could accommodate three people. However, they only supplied two single beds. When asked for a bed for the third person, they asked for additional charge of 230 yuan each night. This is totally unacceptable. Through out my trip on this trip, I have had no problem getting beds for three adults in each room except here. I suggest Expedia demand them to correct the advertisement to not mislead another guess. Other than that, that’s a very good hotel.
The location is quiet and convenient to walk to many attractions. The staff are very helpful and polite.
Great location.
Good location
All good except (1) sound proof poor. Can hear everything next door. (2) shower hot/cold faucet doesn’t work - took more time to get right temp than shower itself. Other than these the hotel is great.
Shanghai 5/24
Very central
Enjoy Shanghai
Excellent Location
Excellent service
Terrible hotel - avoid if possible
Terrible hotel. First, there are many buildings within the same JinJiang Hotel entrance, this hotel picture and address brings you to a different location and we had to walk an extra 8 minutes to get to the actual location. Next, the room was not clean, I stepped on somebody’s fake eyelashes in the bathroom - this is disgusting. Third, the AC does not work, I had set it to the lowest possible temperature but somehow the temperature kept going up by itself and went from 25 degrees celcuis to 26.5 degrees celcius - the room was so hot that all my family members and I could not sleep throughout the night. Will NOT be coming back again.
Pretty comfortable and quiet👍
Good location
We had great experience staying at Jin Jiang Hotel . The shower room water pressure was excellent with a separate bath and shower system. The staff at morning buffet restaurant were fantastic and very well trained , they were always eager to serve and help. I would stay at this property again in the future. If you are looking for a high end Hotel with a reasonable price, I highly recommend it.
Pretty comfortable to stay. Special like the people that prefer to quite, to keep Privacy needs. If the Stuffs of the front desk could to keep smiling face, that will be Perfect!
wonderful location!
This hotel has unbearable smell; breakfast price is not justified for its price and also need go very early in order to get the full menu, as they will not refill the empty dishes…not recommended, will not come back again!
Overall, the Facility is too old.
It was a state guest hotel before millennium and sited off the Huai Hai Road, one of most famous commercial streets in Shanghai.
This hotel is extremely dirty, the room carpet has stained on most of the part you can see, the bathroom shower place is so small and old, to be very honest it’s not worth the money I paid
Please read it before booking
Rooms are no air conditioning, very hot. Carpets too dirty, smell very bad! Not recommended at all.
A Hotel with Style and Perfect Location
I am a world traveler and a Shanghai born New Yorker. Staying at Jin Jiang hotel for more than 30 days, I enjoy the comfort mess, great location, and good service. The hotel managers and the staffs are friendly and helpful. When I was young, I came to visit a friend at the Jin Jiang Hotel with my family. It was a huge deal to enter the hotel at that time. The hotel kept the traditional decor with new renovations. The garden is lovely. I recommend Jin Jiang Hotel.
Carpet are stained in the room
Absolutely fantastic to be back at the JinJiang after three years away with no international travel. So warm and comfortable, a positive oasis in a bustling neighbourhood. Great to see the former Indian restaurant being remodelled. Look forward to investigating it next time.
Historic hotel with a lot of memories for Shanghainese. Great place to meet families and friends and to have a nostalgia meal.. Highly recommended!
I like the update
Very good
Heritage Charm
This is my 2nd stay at this hotel . Very good location, spacious room .
good
Would rate 0/5 stars for service. Our room filled up with second hand smoke from a smoker next door while we were sleeping. The hotel said this was common and that nothing could be done. They were not apologetic at all and did not compensate us in any way. They offered a "free breakfast" but then revoked it. Lack of concern that two of my family members have asthma and breathed in the smoke all night. Hotel itself is dated. Only perk is that location is convenient. I'd recommend you to stay across the road at the Okura Garden Hotel.
GREAT location and stunning hotel. It feels like old shanghai glam and dated in the most fabulous way. It’s clean and the rooms are big with helpful staff on premises. Highly recommend it was a fantastic hotel and would most certainly stay again.
The location is convenient and people there are quite friendly.
its ok
The hotel located at central of the city, very convenient for all of visitors. I like the vantge style and services.
Air conditioning not working
The hotel not new but it was gorgeous. The room also clean and comfortable.
I booked twin bed, but hotel manager told me they received confirmation of double bed. I showed him my confirmation saying twin bad, Instead of sorting problems out at sight he told me to call hotels.com to sort it out... and keep saying all rooms were full and can't change. But after argument they finally changed our room to twin.. if they had, they could've just changed for us without all the argument.. terrible services
Historic hotel, walk around to see/feel it, also easy access to the famous Huaihai road, worth the stay!
Everything is Great but...
The hotel have 3 blocks. I entered the wrong block and was advised my block is on the other end. The staff was very nice. Instead of walking myself, he drove me to my block using the hotel golf cart! The room size is great, especially the bathroom. The environment is fantastic. A large green lawn outside with a fountain and a chapel. Within 2-3 minutes walk, you can go to the shopping area and many restaurants nearby. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the housekeeping service. I placed an empty plastic water bottle on the desk for other usage but the housekeeping staff threw it away :(
No convenient electricity outlet in the bathroom. Accessibility to Cathay South Building from outside is awkward
Perfect location in the French Concession part of old Shanghai. Close to 4 subway lines, excellent on site Indian restaurant and great clothing stores.
旅店的位置不错,附近有陕西南站。唯一要改善的地方就是餐厅的食物价格太贵了,且煮法一般,吃不出五星级的味道但收五星级的价钱。
One of the most important document in the world "China-US Joint Communique" was signed in this hotel in 1972, which not only changed the relationship between China and the US, but also changed the world and changed my life. Therefore, this is one of the most important and historical hotel in the world. Secondly, 50-60 years ago, I participated several most important Chinese Medical Scientific Meetings in this hotel. Therefore, it reminds me these good and old time I ever have had.
Great location very old fashioned. As a Shanghainese but living in LA This hotel bring me a lot memories.

Certainly far from a 5 star Hotel, 4 star maybe. Rooms are OK but very tired and need updating. Food was reasonably good as was the service.
Family get together in Shanghai
Was in Shanghai for a week to meet my parents who traveled from the US. We are all long-time past Shanghai residents and know the hotel / surrounding area very well. Hotel is historically famous and the location is convenient for many of our activities in the FFR, Bund, Jing’An & Xuhui etc. Great staff all were friendly efficient and helpful, from reception to concierge to housekeeping. Will consider staying there again on future trips
Great hotel, great room, great location
Very nice hotel, had its own history. The room is large and comfortable. The location is great, minutes walking to Huaihai road shopping street. The view to the garden is fantastic. Well worth the money, nothing to complain.
friendly and helpful service; elegant hotel. Will recommend to frienda
This is a historic hotel and was the best and most important hotel in Shanghai in 1970-1980. The service and the facility is fine. The foods are expensive and not as good as expected.
I enjoyed very historical and traditional hotel and felt hospitality.
Great location and rich history. Not up to as a 5 start hotel
Bad service
Why the hotel would not able to provide official receipt upon the stay while others do not have this problem.
Nice hotel, good location. Will return again.
Great Hotel, but the aircon was broken. Unable to change the temp in the room. I was super hot and we weren't able to sleep. We had to open the window to cool the room down. Staff couldnt fi the probelm either. Poor form for a 5 star hotel. Putting that aside , everything else as fine.
Horrible air conditioning, needs repair. Very poor lighting, dark rooms!
Very nice
No better location in Shanghai. Close to Huaihai Lu and the subway. Located in an oasis in the French Concession area. Built in the 1920's and one of the grand old hotels of Shanghai.
Nice hotel and location to stay in in Shanghai
I really like this hotel and have stayed here twice now. Great location with a main subway stop about a block away. Rooms are nice and fairly large. Buffet style western breakfast available in hotel, although a little pricey, but overall good food. Only about a mile walk, or one subway stop to Xin Tien Di which is a great spot for dinner and/or drinks. Dozens of fun restaurants and bars here. Cabs are cheap in Shanghai too so if you don’t want to ride their subway, the nice hotel concierge will call you a cab and direct them where you want to go. There is a high end shopping mall (prada, gucci, moschino, etc) only two blocks away, and some fabulous tailors surrounding the hotel. Oh, and two or three Starbuck’s within 3-4 blocks. I never did try room service, but they do have it. Only thing I can say negative is the rooms have been a little warm with temp controlled thermostat. There is a nice comforter on the bed, but no sheet so I would get a little hot at night. I never thought to call and ask for a sheet until after I left this last time, but I bet they would come up with one if asked if you also run a bit warm when sleeping. Cab to Pudong airport costs about $28 US dollars (194 RMB on 11/2/2018). I would say this is more in the French Concession area than in central downtown, but cabs and subway are cheap to get around, and this is a great area.
Common problem for most hotels in China, there is no temperature control for individual room, you can adjust thermal stats al you wanted, the air blows out with same temperature. That is turn will cause sickness quite easily. Hotel staff said, open your window, duh, the air is polluted outside.
Unbeatable taste of old Shanghai. Great hotel!
Great hotel in a quiet compound in city
I have been staying at this hotel regularly for the past 20 years. Nothing beats it. Next to a subway, and along Huai Hai Road which is the main arterial road of Puxi, Shanghai. Beautiful compound and luxurious bedroom.
Front desk staff has zero knowledge/understanding of English. It is unacceptable that waitresses in average Shanghai cafes and restaurants speak better English than the staff of this pesumably 5 star hotel. Also, guests are not allowed in the pool unless they BUY a swimming cap. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first hotel in the world which claims to have a pool but you have to pay in order to get in it. Avoid this hotel at any cost.
excellent location There are no seating area in the lobby which is not acceptable. Customers have to stand there to wait for car or friends, etc.
The room was not ready when we got there. They didn't give us the right direction for the restaurant by the time e got there it was closed. Safe doesn't didn't work had to call 3 times for them to come and fix it.
Perfect location in the French Concession. Our room was spacious, clean, and came with complimentary toiletries. Would highly recommend staying
Not the same building presented in the picture.
The building in the picture is not the building we were assigned to. The building was out dated.
When I checked in the hotel did not receive the reservation info from Expedia - which led to a prolonged check in process after a long flight. There shd be better coordination between the hotel and Expedia. It was ultimately resolved but it took a day.
Good location but cleanliness is lacking
Over all is good but if you book through online booking system, hotel only provide minimum service as they believe you already had the best deal through third party so therefore no other request is granted , room itself looks clean but the beds definitely has bedbugs , which results poor sleeping quality for our experience
Convenient location
Friendly staff greeting all the times. Convenient location with quite and safe environment.
Nice hotel and in great location.
Heart of the French Concession
One of the oldest foreign-style hotels in Shanghai, actually a wall garden compound with four separate hotel buildings of the Jinjiang group. A great oasis in the middle of the old part of the city just of busy Huaihai Lu, a fashionable shopping street.
Impolite front desk staff. Dirty facilities
A hotel with history
A very comfortable stay in a spacious classic room in the north building. The beds are very comfortable from a westerners perspective.. The area is close to many restaurants and shopping in the French Concession. Close to South Shaanxi station exit 3. The hotel has an interesting history and so has character. We were very impressed.

Very convenient and nice location, comfortable and quiet room with garden view
