Terrible check-in experience. We reached the property at around 2 pm. We were made to wait for an hour before one room was given. The other room was given half an hour thereafter. The rooms are not sound-proof. The noise from the corridors come into the room. The is no peace in the hotel. Too much chaos and it can be felt in the rooms. The food at Lorenzo is average. The pizzas there are not good. The good things - The staff is courteous and nice. The buffet breakfast is good. Great variety of food. The Sri Lankan cuisine at buffet is good. Overall stay experience - average. Did not enjoy Galle and the hotel was a big contribution to this bad experience in Galle.
Stayed one quick night, beautiful facility on the water and a room that allows you to enjoy it. The bed was the best! I know it sounds kinda ordinary but great bed!!
Location Location perfect
Location is perfect and breathtaking. Staff is so wonderful, checking in was so effortless and welcoming. Would gladly stay here again
very nice room and service. beautiful beach view
Staff are warm and very friendly and they showcased the Sri Lankan hospitality. The Sri Lankan food served at the hotel was very delicious. But, I would've preferred a few more options.
Best big hotel I stayed in that doesn’t feel like a big hotel
Was alright!
Excellent hotel slow but smiling service excellent location. Room for improvement in the catering department!
Ok but wouldn’t return
Plenty of staff but no managements. They were helpful but not efficient, particularly at breakfast. Hotel needs a good refresh, paint etc. finally I would recommend all Hotel.Com clients use the Spa Wing for better rooms and great sunset views. We changed after disappointing first night in the main building.
An excellent hotel - relaxing, well maintained, good food, great location.
Excellent accommodation - big rooms, bath, balcony with great sea views. Food great. Service was very good - some of the younger staff are still in training but will be fine soon.
Beatiful hotel with spectacular views visible throughout. Classy decor, peaceful setting, impecable attention to detail and keeping the guests happy!
Amazing place to stay
We had no problems at all during our stay. Everything was top notch. Note that the beach associated with the property is not swimmable. Very close to Galle fort (a short tuk tuk away). Food and service was excellent, overall very happy with our stay.
one of the best resorts. landscape, food, staff, spa..... everything was great
Brilliant architecture, hospitality was second to none and the grounds impeccable. Room was a glorious oasis
Mediocre stay at eco friendly resort
Upscale resort, but not as service oriented at the restaurant as at the hotel itself. Rooms are marvelous as well as housekeeping and bell staff, but restaurant below standards in service. Great buffet, something for everyone.. but I had two breakfast meals there, four cups of tea or coffee and each of the four times, I had to waive waitstaff down to get it to my table. That’s unacceptable.
The hotel is beautifully designed (by Geoffrey Bawa architect) and as far as I’m aware, totally unique in its style which is simple and elegant. The location is stunning. The building is kept spotless. The paintings, artefacts etc are all tasteful and in just the right place. Our room and balcony - and view - were gorgeous. There seemed to be a lot of staff - all helpful and friendly. Most had good English but we had difficulty communicating with a few - despite their willingness. We had a bad experience our first night with room service. Waited ages and the pizza we ordered was dreadful. All went uphill thereafter with brilliant breakfasts and excellent dinners - eating mainly Sri Lankan food. They light candles around the building at night making everything look beautiful. I should say, it was very under capacity when we were there (due to people not travelling because of the Corona virus) so there were probably more staff than usual per person to look after us. We loved our time there.
Great staff. The food is excellent and a large variety of dishes to choose from. Rooms are comfortable and the bathroom is clean and nice
Outstandingly beautiful room; superbly designed. Fabulous location and views. Only downside was waiting 2 hours one night for room service when the hotel had two events on and clearly were struggling to cope.
facility was not so new but keep clean. Staffs were friendly and kind.
Don’t bother!
Hotel was being refurbished when we arrived so more than half the facilities were not available. We were not told about this when we booked, if we had of known we have gone elsewhere. Even though the place was a construction site we were still charged top price for the area, The hotel attempts to appease us were pathetic.
Quiet and relaxing with great swimming pools. The rooms were large with balconies looking out over the sea
This is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. This property is in desperate need of an update.. Very dark paint colors black In the bathrooms . Not clean or just used and abused to long
An excellent hotel within a lovely setting. Very calming. No negatives to mention
Wonderfully attentive staff. Lots of space in the grounds, so it felt private even though there were other people around. Right on top of beautiful beach. Loved it!
Nice stay
Location, service, and breakfast buffet are very good. Room was nice but wish to have a room with better view since this was our wedding anniversary trip. Price is quite expensive but I guess worth it.
Location - Location - Location!! And not just the in-house facilities. Galle and the ancient fort are well worth exploring, great places to eat drink and be merry as well as just stating at the Lighthouse and soaking up the pleasure of all that is on offer. The 2004 tsunamia has left its mark in the area but has not destroyed the calm luxury of the Lighthouse. Highly recommended.
Excellent location overlooking the ocean, Beautiful pools, excellent food, and a beautiful room.
Located on the sea shore, beautiful view.
enjoyed our stay, comfortable and airy. experience was memorable. will definitely recommend to friends and family. Rooms are nice and big, the bed is extremely comfortable. Swimming pool, gym and perfect place for a destination wedding. Food service extremely slow for in-room and at the restaurant. Overall good place to stay.
Tired hotel with mediocre cleanliness
Relatively expensive hotel that is well past its grandeur. Bathroom was really old and worn. Bed was too hard. Cleanliness was not up to standards, the floors were not clean. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good.
Stunning hotel
Very welcoming staff beautiful comfortable hotel. Lovely pools for proper swim. Wild ocean too rocky for swimming. Great food
Precious Sri Lanka national property
The entrance and stair case, then the ocean view from the lobby are just awesome. This is a national monumental property of Sri Lanka. Must visit.
Needs upgrading!
Staff extremely helpful & courteous. The lighting dim and depressing. Bathroom leaked. Rooms need refurbishment. Food excellent.
Comfortable hotel
Comfortable stay, clean room
Wonderful place to rest and re-charge
We were there for a week. The staff was exceedingly friendly and very helpful. It really made the difference - I rested like I have not rested before.
Great hotel
We stayed as a couple on our first visit to Sri Lanka, the hotel was very welcoming, the food was great and the staff were excellent. The hotel was very efficient and the free nature walk is well worth doing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Beautiful hotel, room, and views.
This is definitely a 5 star hotel in every way. The food, views, rooms, staff, beach, pool, everything! Do yourself a huge favor and stay here. Amazing!
Stay here!
This is a fantastic hotel in a wonderful location. Within striking distance of Galle fort (only a couple of minutes in a tuk tuk) but with the benefit of a beach and plenty of space that you don't get in the fort. Staff are fantastic and the food is delicious
Highly recommended
The hotel is like 150 kilometers from Colombo airport, it is easy to find a taxi that can take you anywhere. The hotel is nic and clean, breakfast and dinner are good but not perfect. The view is magnificent .
Relaxing stay with family
very spacious and relaxing stay with family. Hotel food was great and inexpensive. great view of the lighthouse and nice swimming pools. Loved the wooden decorations furniture.
this is the best one i stayed so far.
very very nice location. excellent, excellent. excellent
Peaceful, Warm and Relaxing
Well located and staffed with a friendly and helpful team. Well-designed layout with ample facilities. Room decoration can be improved which could make guests' stays even more memorable. The ambience is excellent; beautiful sky and sea waves over rocks and sand (albeit unsure for swimming) and sufficient greenery. Well balanced food menus and breakfast spreads supported by efficient and cheerful service staff.
Great hotel but overpriced and staff not helpful
Room was excellent. Staff refused to recommend a good restaurant in town and only told us about the 3 onsite restaurants. Staff informed us the market rate for a tuk tuk to town was 400lkr but we were able to negotiate 200lkr multiple times. Gym well equipped despite renovations and personnel were very friendly and helpful. Food generally was not good except for the more expensive cinnamon grand.
Nice hotel, but below par service & therefore overpriced
The service was distinctly average (very pleasant staff, but poorly trained & managed): (1) I went for a smoke outside the bar after a recent rainstorm. No attempt was made to help me move my drink. Outside, it was difficult to find a seat that was not damp. I couldn't use tables because they were all soaking wet & no ashtray was provided. The only time a waiter appeared was to ask me if I wanted another drink! (2) numerous mini-power cuts throughout Sunday. This affected wi-if, but no attempt was made to warn us of this significant problem and to ask us to refrain from using the Internet for important transactions, etc. I had to ask what was happening. (3) tea & coffee was provided by waiters at breakfast, but no tea spoons were available on the tables (despite other cutlery being present). This, I spite of several complaints. I had to use a fork or large spon to stir my tea on all 3 days of my stay.
Great location by the ocean front with spectacular
We had a very enjoyable stay.. Our room had a spectacular view of the ocean.. Very friendly staff great facilities n a fabulous cooking session with chef Nihal which made our trip just fantastic! Will definately recommend this property to friends.
We loved the hotel. Location is fantastic and the food great.
8 days of holiday
As a first trip to Sri Lanka, this turned out to be a very good experience. The hotel was well run, with very enthusiastic staff. the location and facilities very good. We particularly enjoyed the choice of restaurants and food, the outdoor pools and lounge areas. The hotel is starting to feel a little tired, but otherwise a very pleasant stay. Most staff were very welcoming, albeit a number of very inexperienced personnel, especially in the restaurants. Decent value for money, albeit, I would like to think the 10% service charge actually makes it to the staff.
The hotel was comfortable . I didn't like how they charged my friends after ourthird day bythe pool a 1000 fee for using the pool. It was something that should have been for told . I liked the room , but it could have been cleaner, room service kept forgetting orders, it was very difficult to get the reception , roomervice on the phone; even when they would answer they didn't understand the orders on the their own menu!!!
Authentic SriLankan Hotel right on the beach
Very enjoyable stay great bed good size rooms stunning views and very good food in all restaurants. No complaints
Excellent place
English level of some of the staff was not very high but overall it was an outstanding hotel.
Nice hotel with room for better service
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful and full of character.
A beautiful hotel with very pleasant staff
My husband and I stayed here for one night during our trip to Sri Lanka and we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful building and bedrooms (the bathroom made my day!) There are two pools, several bars, including a wonderful terrace, and the hotel is right on the coast so the views were amazing and you could walk along the beach. The only issue we did have is that the service was painfully slow (over an hour to make 2 sandwiches?!) and this is probably because the hotel was absolutely enormous and they had nowhere near enough staff to cover it. That said, the staff that were there were very helpful and polite so we left feeling like we had gotten a bargain!! Also worth noting that the breakfast was amazing!!
Lovely
I would have rated the staff 5/5 if they had been slightly quicker, some things (tea/coffee at breakfast) had to be ordered and was not self serve and we often had to ask several times but other than that it was amazing and the staff were friendly. Lovely location.
Very Nice hotel indeed
Fantastic hotel in a good location. Service excellent and rooms very clean. Renovation in progress in one block hence the 4 for condition but we really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely hotel
Really lovely breakfasts sitting next to the Indian Ocean, great pools to laze by, easy access to town via tuk tuks. Staff were friendly and room was huge.
Beautiful atmosphere
Very lovely setting, every angle carried its own natural mystic which we found truly alluring. Great photo opportunities! Very friendly & affable staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A bit of luxury
Jetwing was our last stop for three nights and it was a pleasant experience. Gorgeous views of the sea from the lobby bar and restaurant. All rooms to a high standard.
Amazing ocean view
Fully satisfactory. Food was good but could be better.
Tropical Paradise
Overall this was a pleasant stay largely because of the idyllic location and view out to the Indian Ocean. As at the other Jetwing we stayed at, the initial welcome is special, with cold drinks and towels while you sit in Reception ready to be checked in. Although not easily noticeable, the bathroom was showing some signs of age but still well appointed. The TV service was interrupted for a short while and the free WiFi was too weak through our wing of the hotel to get a good signal except in the Lobby area. Location is a taxi ride out from Galle city and the surroundings are typical Sri Lankan village activities, which on our short stay we did not feel the need to explore.
Disappointing stay at an overrated hotel
The Lighthouse is at a very nice location in close proximity to the old town. It definitely has seen much better days and needs urgent renovation. The main terrace area is not very inviting and looks exactly the same as 10 years ago. The rooms are outdated and in appalling conditions considering the high rating of the hotel (paint is coming of the walls&ceiling, stains on walls&ceiling, corrosion of metal pieces, door keys not functioning, ...). The staff is very friendly and helpful; they try to make the most out of the situation. The hotel would be a reasonable choice for a medium rated and moderately priced hotel. But considering the high room rates our stay was very disappointing.
Special hotel amidst the rocks
Great hotel....superb location with great views from the rooms.
Nice hotel to stay at while visiting Galle!
Hotel is very nice - right on the ocean with nice views. Room service food was excellent and staff was very friendly. Only negative was room was a bit dark (additional lighting needed). But, overall had a very nice time at hotel.
Very good hotel for a relaxing break
My wife and I stayed at the Jetwing Lighthouse for a week and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well organised and the facilities like the swimming pools and gym are excellent. The beach is very rocky and due to the time of year it would have been too dangerous to venture in but there are parts that would probably be alright during the right season. The buffet breakfast is very good and includes everything you could want and the staff are attentive and could not have been more helpful. If I could find one negative I would say that the rooms are in need of some attention, they are not bad but would benefit from some aesthetic improvements, the TV was also a bit tempremental. We had a particularly brilliant Tuk Tuk driver (Eddy) who showed us the sights of Galle and took us to various other places for dinner whenever we asked him to.
amazing
Galle visit
Great hotel, great rooms, great experience. Overall very happy. Only hitch was that taxi service in the hotel's arrival/departure zone is handed over to an independent tuk-tuk driver, who obviously double or triples the rates.
We had an absolute amazing vavation at this beautiful place. The staff is extraordinairy nice and the facilities are awesome. Great variety of restaurants and bars. I especially enjoyed the huge breakfast buffet with an excellent service. Our suite with our own pool on the balcony was absolutely beautiful. There is a Supermarket opposite the hotel and Galle is reachable in 5 mins by TukTuk. Thank you for this unique and magical experience, we will definately come back!
Absolutely perfect place for relaxed vacation!

Please get a grip on breakfast service!
This is a generally excellent hotel. No more on that need be said. You won't be disappointed. Except that the breakfast tea is terrible. There is just one thing that we noticed on our last day. Breakfast is from 7am, our taxi was a 0730, a fairly typical departure time with either a flight or busy day scheduled. So, any hotel guest who is there right on 7am is likely to be on a short timescale. The hotel should recognise this, and the staff should be aware. It felt like nobody was really interested in offering any service until it was too late. No shortage of politeness and smiles! - just glacially slow service until someone got the message and barked a few orders.
