Lovely resort on a beautiful beach.

My husband and I , stayed for 7 days at the Iberostar Tucan and this was one of the best vacations that we have had at an all inclusive resort. The property is on an amazing beach , food at the restaurants was tasty and wide variety ; rooms were fine, service was great. There were non-motorize watersport offered , which we used everyday , as well as tennis court. Entertainment provided during the day and in the evening was excellent. Spa service /massage was excellent.. Overall, a very enjoyable stay , exceeding expectations and totally worth it. We will come back again.

I like the jungle park

It was a beautiful property. The beach was amazing. The pool left a lot to be desired. It was a huge pool but the whole thing was 5ft deep except for a very small area where you could stand. For a family-friendly resort, I would expect more shallow areas for kids to play and I didn't even bring my kids. I was just looking for a place to stand with my cocktail that wasn't up to my chin. There is a swim up bar but it's down a bunch of stairs and mostly in the shade. Check-In was rough. They didn't give us any helpful information or tell us how to use the phones. They don't have room service which I would have expected a five-star resort to have. In fact there are two times during the day where you cannot get any food because nothing is open. From 11:00 a.m. to noon and again from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm. The only place to eat breakfast is buffet style at one of the two buffets and both buffets have the same things. Wheelchair access is awful. The wheelchair barely fit through the door of her room. There were a couple of beach chairs that had wheelchair access but every time we went to the beach we had to get the beach concierge to kick out the people that were in them. We had to walk around the entire resort to get to the pool for the wheelchair access route. The path to access the beach is beautiful but uneven and slippery There was no drink service on the beach or at the pool. Entertainment was okay nothing special. Shower was awful. Went back and forth from hot to cold.

This is not a five star resort, but a five star value. We have stayed at Iberostar properties more than 10 times and they never disappoint. Very good food,.good drinks, great service, friendly atmosphere and at this property an amazing landscape. Plus the best beach anywhere. We will return. One caveat. BD Experience, our shutt service from the airport to the resort had no record of our reservation. Staff claimed this was a recurring issue with Expedia. We waited 45 minutes for them to sort this. Not tragic, but a nuisance.

This is my favorite resort ! I have been here twice already and definitely will be back again . I enjoyed beautiful sandy beach , the ocean , wonderful walking area with beautiful plants and trees ; as well interesting animals that live peacefully on the property. We also enjoyed many food options every day in the buffet . My favorite were different pastries every day ! Iberostar is the best !

Beautiful location, you get a mix of jungle and beach. The beach is amazing and great for swimming - the jungle provided tons of different animals to look at. The food is decent at the restaurants and “ok” at the buffet. 5 of the 14 of us got very ill. I don’t necessarily blame the resort because this sort of thing can be expected with buffets and I heard lots of people coughing at the buffet. Norovirus cases are extremely high right now, so that could be the case. Our friends did also get sick at this resort last year. The rooms are dated, but clean. I don’t know if we would return just based off the amount of illness everyone endured.

The property and beach is lovely. It would not be a place I could stay when it is very hot outside due to the open-air buffet areas. The food was fresh and clean. As a vegetarian, I found that the offerings were not marked well enough for me to be sure I could eat a specific dish. There is a lot of cross contamination possible and happens due to the self-serve nature of a buffet. My suggestion would be to have a specific area where vegetarian items are offered. That would prevent the cross-contamination and make it easier for a strict vegetarian to understand what they can eat.

Love the property and staff. Our third time there-first with our kids who loved it! I told my older daughter about it and she and her family booked today for September!!

Staff is amazing. Rooms need a lot of updating very old looking. Outdoor area is peaceful and beautiful. Food was just ok. No room service and no staff around pool area to offer drinks

Rooms are clean but need major updates and arnt that big in size. The property is beautiful minus the rooms. It feels like your in a peaceful jungle with tons of waterfalls. The staff was amazing and super friendly. Another bumper is that there is no room service and no service in or around pool area. You have to walk to the bar or food stand if want anything. The pool with a swim up bar is for adults only. Food was just ok not alot of variety.

The resort and the service was very good. The animals in a natural environment were a pleasure to watch. Always somewhere to sit around the pool. The only downside was the loud music from the resort itself and the neighbouring resort until 11:00 pm most nights was a turnoff!

Beautiful property, clean beach, tasty food, great entertainment, perfect location to relax and enjoy nature's beauty.

We made our reservations through Expedia and paid in advance. When we got to the Iberostar Waves Tucan, they said we were in the worst location in the resort, but could “upgrade” to a better location (just happens to be the location we’ve been at in three previous stays at Iberostars in Mexico, including this one). We believe we were charged $240 more for the same two rooms we had already paid for. We are supposed to believe that they just happened to have two rooms next to each other for the entire week of U.S. Thanksgiving when the resort was very, very full. Looks very dishonest to us. We won’t stay there again. It's a nice property, but we can't take dishonesty. Too many other options.

This hotel was nice. The staff was very helpful. However, the rooms are very outdated. Bed is very uncomfortable everything looks old .. concrete stucco walls. I have stayed at other Iberostar’s in the Cancun area and this one was my least favorite. Try Grand Pariso .

Beautiful resort is well maintained by friendly and helpful staff. Food options are very broad and food is mostly quite good. Beds are full size and quite firm. I understand there will be some renovation soon and hope the beds will be upsized to queen. Wonderful beach and pool areas. Nice global assortment of guests. Plenty of day and evening activities.

This resort is absolutely fantastic! From day one the service, the property, food options was phenomenal. The pools, beach and pathways that lead you through the jungle, were mastered perfectly. Thank you Juan from the Cozumel Breakfast staff for being amazing! He made our mornings so much better with his kindness and hospitality. The rooms are exactly how they should look, with the traditional Mexican vibe. Overall I give this resort a 10! We are planning our next visit and we just got back!!

Beware

The older gentleman at check in wouldn’t give us our rooms together or on first floor. I had booked 2 rooms, one for my husband and me and one for my daughter, son in law and their baby. We needed to be together to help with the baby. They put us on different floors. Also we needed ground level, we’re 67 and don’t do stairs well. They couldn’t accommodate. He wasn’t very helpful at all. If you book thru a 3rd party (like Hotels.com) you are treated like a second class citizen. You are only allowed certain rooms which face the street or are right off the lobby with lots of noise. Just doesn’t seem right.

The staff overall were friendly, helpful, and hardworking. Other than one occasion where the person checking us in re-checked off soliciation emails upon sign in after i had un-checked those boxes so I wouldn't get unwanted emails - all staff were A . They solicite you to take a "presentation" when you arrive. They say they will compensate you for this with a free massage or $70 USD. The massage is 40 minutes and a standard massage, my wife got this and said it was good. The $70 USD was not cash but "Iberostar dollars" and the equivalent of $70 USD and could be used at check out for incidentals or at one of the gift shops by the pool. There are two other gift shops on site but not sure if they accepted this cash equivalent. The resort itself was nice, though the buildings near the lobby where the rooms were felt older and in need of an update. We also had two cockroaches in our room over the course of our 6 day stay. I think given the location there are simply going to be bugs and this didn't affect my enjoyment but my wife was not happy about it. This is a family resort, but the rooms had lots of opportunities for a toddler to cause trouble or hurt themselves. From the tile and stucko bed board and floors to the mini fridge cabinets that are not lockable or child proof, I found the room overall to not be toddler friendly but maybe kid friendly. There was more than one pool, an adult pool, a kids area, and a beach. Finding seating after 9 am would be a bit of a challenge.

The food was horrible the service was same like the food. The pool water are jacuzzi hot. Very good beach.

Amazing beachfront with excellent staff and wonderful variety of food and drinks! The buffet restaurants were excellent. We tried all standalone restaurants and we liked the Mediterranean, Italian, and Japanese restaurants. The mini jungle was a pleasant surprise with many different animals wandering the forest. Excellent entertainment crews! Will be back again very soon.

The pools looked like they were never cleaned, the adult pool bar top had a bandaid on the counter in the same spot the whole week we were there, clearly they never clean it. The pools were so warm you couldn’t even cool off from the heat. There were so many bugs in the room from ants to cockroaches. I know it’s in the jungle but it’s just not for me. All of the buffets are open to the outdoors and not air conditioned so it was miserable to try and eat without sweating through your clothes. The alcohol is so watered down it took way too many drinks to even feel a buzz, it wasn’t worth it to even drink. I hated that there were no water bottles at the bars either.

We really enjoyed our stay at Iberostar Túcan. Everyone was very attentive and friendly, the food was very good, entertainment was fresh and interesting every night. We enjoyed our short stay so much that we plan to come back for a longer stay in the Fall!

The beach inside was dirty, many plants . The bartenders are not trained for preparing drinks, this happens on 3 bars.

The place is really big to get around be prepared to walk allot, its almost impossible to get food from the japanese restaurant.

The reasons I gave the hotel a 3 star rating was for the following reasons 1. The rooms are outdated. Even when they are cleaned the rooms still looks dirty 2. Mini fridge in our room didn’t work and beverages were room temperature besides being inside the fridge 3. There are water and ice stations to refill our glass bottle provided to reduce plastic waste. Great idea but ice machine never worked and water tasted horrible 4. Once you arrive to do the check in the staff at the front desk give you a welcome gift but after giving you the gift they want you to attend a 90 min meeting to talk about their new hotels. When we denied and told the lady we don’t want to waist our time she seemed upset and continues to push the meeting for us to attend. The next day they called our room to offer the same meeting and we continued to denied. The staff will continue to push for you to attend telling you they will do a complementary breakfast plush discounts in the hotel. The third day they dropped a paper in front of our door with the same offer/meeting. 5 most of all of the hotel’s restaurants are buffets and one we attended called the smoked house gave us the menus we tried to order but I the end our waiter told us he was going to bring a family style plate with everything in the menu for us to eat. It was 6 of us and the plate was small for the amount of people. They gave us one small plate of salad for 6. The plate of salad was a joke 6. Everything in the hotel’s store is expensi

Great facilities, but service needs Improvement

As reflected in my rating, I'm a bit disappointed with this hotel. We couldn't make it on the first day due to airport disruptions following the worldwide software collapse, and we informed the hotel about this. However, the hotel was not willing to grant us a refund for that first night. The hotel is large, well-designed, and family-friendly, with a wide range of activities and entertainment options. The swimming pool area is spacious, and the beach is clean. There is some room for improvement in the service. For instance, the safe in my room ran out of battery. The front desk assured me that someone would be sent to fix it. Naturally, I had to be present in my room when this person arrived. I spent several hours one afternoon waiting with my children and had to call the front desk multiple times to remind them to send help. Overall, I'd probably consider other hotel options for my next trip to Playa del Carmen.

My husband and I and my brother and sister n law stayed here ant the end of May. We had a great time. The resort was beautiful. It was like being in the jungle. There was a lot of wild life. Our favorite was watching the monkeys hanging out in the trees while we sat in the adult swim up bar. Didn’t care for the buffet but the specialty restaurant were very good. They had some fun entertainment in the evenings. Our favorite was the karaoke with Alejandro. He was so much fun and had the audience participating in the game. The beach was really nice too and there wasn’t much of the seaweed. We really enjoyed our stay.

Where do I start. The rooms were soo outdated. The bathrooms were horrible. The grounds and lobby are beautiful.There are several buffetts yes, beautiful but be ready to eat w no airconditioner for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Be ready to sweat and not enjoy your food because it soo hot to enjoy. We were drenched! horrible eating experience everyday. Nice to see little monkeys, flamingos, exotic animals very close up through the hotel. The entertainment was great everynight. dancing on the beach, foam pool party and 80s night dancing was great!! again inside extertainment was hot. The big pool the water was jacuzi boiling hot it was horrible. tbe adult pool was very nice found on the last day there water was fresh. Had to argue w Manager Hector to eat inside on last day..Inside restautant Italian..they turn me away 3 days in a row saying thy had no space and we could not reserve a spot. Hector asked me 50 to be able to get in for the best pasta and meats. Nope I stood my ground. It was air conditioned it was pleasant. The staff is rude and dont care if you enjoying ur experience. I am used to bigger and nicer places that make you feel welcome and go above and beyond for us. No bottled water unless u pay 11.00 for a small water at the gift shops. They said thy had filtered water throughout the hotel. Not happy about that. The Beach is beautiful. Enjoyed myself due to going w my family. Will never return. Will not recommend to no one.

The property is beautiful. The jungle, animals, beach are all amazing. This was our third time staying here. The staff was great! We traveled with four other families and each had a different experience with our rooms. Our family had a family suite (adjoining rooms). The king bed was very firm. Much too firm for our liking. That is really the only thing I would change in our room. The AC was cold, everything worked properly. One of the families we traveled with had a gluten allergy. It proved much more difficult to find true gluten free options. The entertainment was a little less stellar than in past years but still enjoyable. My teenage kids played beach volleyball everyday pretty much all day. The resort was a little stingy about giving out a volleyball even though people from all countries were playing together. Overall a great vacation! If you’re looking for a family friendly resort this is it!

The pool and beach was nice . The rooms are outdated and need updating

The only thing we like is that despite a horrible service, nasty food, constantly broken a/c in the room was the fact that we still managed to have a good time with our family because we know how to make a good time no meter what! It’s no longer the same Iberostar like it use to be they have gone down in service, entertainment and their food is horrible! We will not go back again or recommend it to anyone we know! From now on it’s RIU chain hotels only!

The grounds and location.

I was truly surprised at all the animals that were on the premises. I adore all wildlife and was in awe of the variety you had. The premises were maintained impeccably and the staff was incredibly friendly and efficient.

We enjoyed everything about it. Beautiful place and enjoyed the wildlife. Do wish housekeeping was better. Didn’t seem like our floor was clean much always had sand on feet even after getting out of shower. There was sand pilled in corners. Other than that it was fantastic.

Great property for family vacation!! Super friendly, clean and delicious food. We were relaxed and pampered all week. Only suggestion for improvement is to serve ground coffee and not instant!

The property was perfect. Lovely pool and beach. Staff always available to help. My mother is in a wheelchair and they gave us a dedicated lounger with shade for all of us which was wheelchair accessible for the whole week. Excellent service. All the food was of high quality, lots of variety. We did buffet style for breakfast and lunch and a la carte for dinner. My favourites were the Japanese and the Mediterranean. Throughly enjoyed our stay. Loved all the wildlife. The room and air con was all good for a great nights sleep. Room was super clean. Would recommend and return.

This was our first all inclusive resort and it was everything we wanted! The food was great, didn’t need reservations for the dinner restaurants except for one. We were upgraded to a junior king suite upon arrival which was awesome and our room was a “jungle view”. I really loved waking up to all the wild life.Literally on your balcony. The staff was so incredibly kind and attentive. It was a 5 minute drive to down town where you get to really experience the culture and it’s so fun!!!! I would recommend everyone to try this resort

Right size of resort to bring our 15 & 13 year old kids which allowed some freedom to roam and felt safe. This is not a high end luxury resort but it is family friendly even during spring break from USA. Exactly what we were looking for. I would recommend or go again.

This was my second stay, this time during busy mid march. This is my Goldilocks all inclusive in playa. The beach is perfect not rocky, the food is good, it’s a more laid back vibe (not too much loud partying). It’s large enough to have forested areas with wildlife but small enough to walk. Plus being part of gated playa car allows for easy and safe walking around the area. Will definitely return. Might choose elsewhere if I brought my elementary age kids only because the water slides are more like a tot splash pad and it Has no shade.

Staff was super helpful on tracking lost luggage and immigration forms.

We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful this property was when we arrived! The staff is very friendly and always ready to help in any way they can. There are animals all over this resort! Which we loved! The rooms are spacious and kept clean. The Resort in itself is very clean! We will be back for sure!

The beach and pool area is awesome. Staff are really helpful especially the front desk. Buffet is good, reserved restaurants doesnt have much menu options though. I love how there are animals around the property and we enjoyed the other activities provided like archery and night shows. I'm not a fan of the rooms though, smaller than the other resorts we stayed in considering the price. But they're clean and we were given a chance for an upgrade so we were happy. We just had some issue not finding somewhere to eat after our excursion dropped us off at 10pm. We needed to wait an hour to get something to eat and we were tired. They should consider guests getting back from daytrips when closing the buffet. But overall a good experience.

We were very happy with this resort. Everything was excellent. The jungle was cool.

Huge disappointment. The resort is very old and shows it. But that was kind of expected before arrival. The biggest problem is the food at the resort. That includes breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet and the other restaurants. I’ve been to over a dozen all inclusive resorts so know not to expect a lot, but this was beyond tolerable. Simply not able to eat almost anything. Much better choices and available in The immediate area. Stay away. On the positive, the people were very helpful and courteous.

Hotel is just not that good, food is the same one everyday and not to many options, bed sheets dirty on the bars they running out of the alcohol drinks a lot

Property was excellent, service outstanding. Seemed to have a great kids program- the only change I’d suggest is something more along the lines of adult entertainment- like a comedy show or performance-- they had a small music trivia game in one bar one evening- that was great- they have an awesome area with a stage and a ton of seating that was only used for kid shows while we were there- I think there’s an opportunity there- still would highly recommend!

Love property. Our transport from airport resort was horrible. Took over an hour to get a ride.

Property is quite old but very clean both inside and out. Had many communication problems with the front desk staff. My room was just ok. No hanging closet space. No hooks in bathroom. No blankets for cold nights. One day, they took my remote. Someone put it in the system, when I complained about my phone. The food is great. The drinks are usually good, not great.

Nice location

I loved the monkeys, wild life and the rainforest areas. Great staff and super clean. The food wasn’t good at all!

The resort is exceptional! Loved the free roaming willife like peacocks, ring tailed lemurs, Agoti, Howler monkies, flamingos and fish in the ponds around the buffets made it feel closer to nature. Loved the resort was a bit smalker than the huge Mega resorts felt more intimate. Customer service from reception area, housekeepers, waiters/waitress, restaraunt hostesses, pool staff, beach staff and security just all staff wonderful. I would go back again anytime! Food was good, but not enough fish options for us.

Family vacation

We had a great family vacation. (ages 16 to 86) We loved this hotel and it's environment. The "jungle" atmosphere was refreshing. We liked the feeling of a different environment in another country, with waterfalls, monkeys, peacocks, flamingos, etc. on the paths in the trees It was clean and workers were great. Manuel was a great bartender down at the Beach! "Thanks for the Sheila drink!"

On a adoré la mini jungle au milieu de l hotel avec les singes , agouti etc ... on a déploré en revanche une super grande piscine mais non chauffée et qui devait etre autours de 23 ou 24 degres

I liked the property design a lot: lshallow pools along the paths, jungle, look of teh buildings. The room had everything we needed. Staff was very helpful. The pool was beautiful and big. Food was plentiful. Beautiful resort, will recommend to my friends. Suggestion: add mpre vegan options and beans to the menus.

we had a very good time. The hotel was very nice and clean, all the staff was very nice and ready to help us, including on the reception when we arrive and when we check out. Angela on the front desk help us with the restaurants reservations and she was very kind person. The beach was very clean and nice and all the restaurants were very nice. The chefs were ready to help us since I have allergies to certain food. Specially Chef Alejandra and Chef Apolinar were checking on my food and gave me suggestions on what I could eat or not. They were very nice and helpful. We also enjoy the spa and was very clean and all the staff were ready to help us and answered our questions. I want to suggest an area for gluten free food, because sometimes the food was cross contaminated with the utensils or was some wheat on it. When this happened, one of the chefs I mentioned offered me food from the kitchen that was safe of gluten.
