What works for this resort is, hands down, it's staff. All are incredibly helpful and present; they want to help you have the best time on your holiday and will go above and beyond to make that happen. The hotel is located on one of the best beaches I have ever been on: white, fine, gorgeous sand that is tended to everyday. I noted on my morning beach walks that neighboring resorts don't do as thorough a job cleaning the seaweed off their patch of sand; Iberostar Selection Bavaro does this and more. The gym is amazing: clean, modern and filled with all the up-to-date equipment you never seem to be able to find at any hotel. Classes are offered to one and all, and are good fun (particularly the Zumba class). The tennis courts are in good shape too. Where the property slightly let's itself down is on the quality of food. It seems to be an almost Herculean task to maintain the quality given the number of people being fed. Some food was flavorless, too oily, etc. Having said that, there was plentiful fruit on offer and freshly made food, ie omelettes, etc offered if you want to avoid the fried food offering. Plates seemed to be an issue...sometimes there are plenty and other times quite a few people seemed to be waiting for plates to be brought out to the buffet. We dined at the Italian one evening: the steak was very good, but the cold roasted potato slices detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Overall, recommend this resort. The staff make it special.

DO NOT use the casino. My son was given counterfit money after winning. He took that to the Hard Rock the next night and was nearly arrested when trying to use it on the Black Jack table. The resort is decent and they did a nice job decorating for Christmas. Our housekeeper was excellent. The other staff is not as friendly as they could be. Darlyn in check out was great and moved us thru very quickly and gave us an upgrade we wanted. The food is just ok but the French Restaraunt was awful. My husband got rancid meat and got sick. A group of 9 of us and all food was quite awful there. Leonardo the concierge comes across very friendly at arrival but once he realized we were not going to do a timeshare presentation he was no longer accomodating whatsoever when trying to make reservations etc. Not a great place for young adults. No entertainment for them in the evenings. We hoped for a beach party, Foam party, White party, anything! Nothing was provided for them to do so they went to that casino and were basically robbed. Geraldo at the beach was extremely friendly and the beach bar servers were also great. Probably would not go back here but would choose the Hard Rock for the young adults in our group.

We loved the beach accessibility from the beachfront suites. If there was one complaint it would be that the air conditioning seemed to get weaker as the week went on. Nobody ever came to fix it.

Its a beautiful place. The wayer is beautiful, lobby is nice. The rooms are a little "tired". Need a little updating and love. The food is a solid 5 out of 10. Its not bad but not geeat. The one main negative is, when i go on a vacation, i dont want to be bothered with sales pitches and people in the hotel, the beach and staff trying to sell me stuff. I just want to rest. Maybe its a cultural thing, but i didnt want to be bothered about sales pitches about their new hotels or folks selling arts or crafts on the grounds or beach . This hotel is not bad its just not what i would call a 5 star like its advertised as.

The whole property runs on an app. They don’t have any physical maps or anything. It was very frustrating to have to be on your phone all day to navigate. Additionally, we needed some thing from client services (toothbrush, robes, towels) little things but important. And we completed the in app request and nothing happened. We chatted with guest services through the app 3 times and still didn’t receive the items and complained once in the app because we didn’t get them and because of that it prompted a phone call and we explained we were just looking for some towels (literally only had 2 and no hand towels at all) and toothbrush, robes. And they said no problem we will send them now. And they never came. It became comical, thankfully it wasn’t something critical. We gave up after that. We never did receive the items. Other then that the staff were very nice , alothough a large percentage of them did not speak English and communication was quite hard.

Grounds are well keep and cleanliness. The A/C does not cool the room and I have talked to a few people in the resort who said the same thing. Sheets had a blood spot on them and I asked for clean sheets and they never sent someone until the next day.

I sent a message a few days ago already. Our rooms air conditioning and our parents room air conditioning was only working at half capacity. We advised the front desk and they did nothing. It was very uncomfortable the whole trip as it was immensely hot and humid. As we both our fridges were at had capacity. The drinks were room temperature. The bathroom had a terrible smell from the drain in the shower. The food was great and the beach was wonderful. The service was okay. We were just disappointed with the air conditioning and fridges in both our rooms. And the terrible smell in only our room. Besides that the trip was good.

The hotel has BED BUGS!!! I complained to Management and they finally moved my room. The second room also had bed bugs. My two friends were bitten, however, I slept on the sofa because I was afraid that I would be bitten again. I would NEVER stay here again. They didn’t even bother to compensate me for the trouble. I have bites all over my body. My birthday weekend at this resort was TERRIBLE

nice resort. rooms are a bit warm and nothing ever dries in there, even when hanging a bathing suit, it stays wet. sliding door very difficult to open and lock. beach was well maintained and beautiful. pool areas clean and nice. drinks were weak at all bars except the lobby bar. the reservation system is not well run. ended up having dinner at the buffet more times than we would have like to due to not being able to get in anywhere else. i think all restaurants should have required reservations. i witnessed many upset patrons on long times waiting to eat at a restaurant. the staff was lovely and friendly. overall, very nice time.

This resort was FANTASTIC!!!! I traveled with my two teenagers and we had the best week! The rooms were lovely and spacious (and very clean!), the restaurants were all delicious…we particularly enjoyed the buffet which had a different theme every night so there were plenty of different choices. The grounds were incredibly beautiful and well maintained. The front desk service went above and beyond…we didn’t end up with a double bed room for the kids like requested so they brought in an extra mattress and set it up! They were also quick to fix our safe when it stopped working and my shower when it was clogging. They also gave us an extra hour at checkout time for free. I cannot say enough about our stay and the staff! Worth every penny!

We enjoyed our stay. The beach is beautiful and they take great care of the property. The staff was excellent. We loved all the places to grab food and drinks and loved the ice cream shop need the pool. The only issue I had was the cleanliness of the room. When we checked in, the bathroom was not very clean and the bed sheets had stains. It was eventually fixed but was a little frustrating. A wonderful vacation!

we have quite some mixed feelings about stay there. Pros: staffs are overall friendly. beach is great. buffet is above average. 24-hour coffee store is a plus (when room service becomes unavailable after 11:00pm). Also for us it is safe to walk around in the hotel area. Cons: toilet flushing system is really really really poor, lacking pressure to flush down properly. Imagine when it's not cleaned, and you need to wait for an hour so that there's enough water and then you try flushing again, but still impossible to .... (it is really a nightmare) Room smells like mould, everything feels moist. There's no bottled water provided - we are given two bottles (seem filthy so we did not use it) to get water from a "station". To be honest it is a little ridiculous. Some restaurants are good but reservation can be difficult, and options on menu are quite limited.

The bedroom needs to be clean better and the bathroom as well I had one issue with one of the driver’s that had preference over other guests. If you have any sort of food sensitivity or allergy, please be warned this resort is not equipped to take it seriously. Every single meal I would start by showing them in both English and Spanish on my phone that I have a food allergy. Every single meal, without fail, I would inevitably get my allergen served to me. It was extremely dangerous and made me overall feel uneasy. Also - the room had a lot of bugs and even a gecko due to the clearance on the door being too tall and the door leading straight to the outside. Overall, I will not be coming back.

I liked our maid. She was very through. and kept our romm very clean. The bad part was where our room was. on the border of another resort, which is where they played the entertainment for that resort. It was very loud late at night. The other was the Italian and Mexican where below average when it came to selection and Quality. The concierges were very pushy, which was not appreciated not a place I would recommend

Rooms need to be updated! I called a couple times to request coffee for the coffeemaker and sodas for my son it took 3 days for the staff to provide it. Everytime we will shower the water will run all the way to the hallway we have to put towels on the floor to try stop the water. The hotel lobby is beautiful, food was delicious, better than any other hotel I stayed in Punta Cana before. The Beach is beautiful!. My main problem was with the services.

I am American and upon check-in, they had to get an english speaking clerk. All the shows and activities are in Spanish! It was very hard to communicate with staff including restaurant staff because of this. I also contracted a bacterial stomach virus and had to go to the hospital when I got home and the cause bad or infected seafood. I was even contacted by my local health department! The restaurants needed reservations even when less than ten people were in attendance! I stayed at the same brand of resort in Cozumel and it was not that way there!

Horrible time considering the fact the fact that we had to move to 4 different rooms on a 7 day vacation and we were finally moved to another resort because when we were moved to different rooms everyone of them had a faulty air conditioner and cockroaches. After moving us to a new resort we almost missed our flight because our transportation never picked us up, after we spent a lot of time confirming it with an employee who assured us we would be picked up at the new Resort We are also out 40.00 because we had to pay for the taxi after already paying to be transported to the airport. Food was mediocre at best drinks were watered down and tasteless. My husband also became ill with a stomach issue from the food and having faulty air conditioning. I definitely will not ever come back or recommend this resort There are much better options We did book through Expedia and they do not provide any any assistance if the Resort or transportation fail. I'm not sure why Expedia collects so much in fees.

When I checked in to this resort , I was given a room but the min I opened the door there was already 3 ladies were in the room . I went back to the hotel and he gave me another room . The AC not working And we changed room again . The restaurants has no AC at all . The Buffett is good . The French cuisine no good . The young lady her name is Narobi she is very good and efficient. The hotel shuttle from our room to the restaurant is very good

Worst vacation ever!!, first night my husband took a shower and the water ran all the way out into the hall, so he had to use towels to clean it up and to stop the water from running out the shower. The room was very hot and the fridge was not working well, the beverages were barely cold. Stayed in that room(1237) for 2 nights then we moved ourselves to another room(1304)after lobby failed to get air and fridge fixed as promised after my husbands complaint.The air in the second room was just a little bit better fridge still seemed not to work as well.Next day went well and was glad we had our room changed but had to keep ordering ice to keep our drinks cold.The next day we went to the pool upon returning to room our door was wide open with the toilet detach from wall (says they're doing work to bathroom downstairs)we than called front desk to put complaint in and asked for a supervisor to come to room to show what was going on as well; his name was Francis and said he would send complaint to lobby. Later on that day we're getting ready to have dinner the lights went out for 20 mins so we left out room to see if it was the whole resort but it was only our room! As we were going downstairs notice maintenance man coming out of electric room. We went to lobby and spoke w/ head supervisor ensured she would have all construction stopped but next morning was woke up by more noise. Next day lights went out again, We were all eaten up by bugs by end of trip! Food was not good Very sad

I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE PROPERTY A 5 STAR HOWEVER THE BEACH WAS UNUSEABLE DUE TO THE MASSIVE SEAWEED ALONG THE COAST AND INTO THE WATER. MY 2 YEAR OLD WAS AFRAID OF THE WATER. I THOUGHT THE HOTEL AND THE POOLS WERE EXCELENT, AS WAS THE FOOD AT THE BUFFET. THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS AVERAGE AND THE GYM GREAT

I want on a group with family on vacation. I had book a room with one bed for myself and husband, when I got there didn’t have my room ready at around 4pm they gave me a room with two twin bed with the air conditioner not working, it took them 2 days to move me to a different room that smelled moldy. It was supposedly a kids freely resort, but everyone was smoking around the kids area. Honestly the worst experience ever

Horrible never again. Waking up to roaches crawling on you at 4am since day one was the worst. I complained about it supposedly they went and exterminate and the problem got worst. My family and i had about 15 rooms and at least 12 was infested. The Air conditioner is not strong enough then is stop working completely and it took them like 5 hours to decide to move me to another room. Lobby has no fans at all, the heat was unbeatable. The theater has fans that barely moved at all, how can you enjoy the shows. The only place that was good was the bathroom by the lobby only if you needed to cool off. The breakfast is the same exact menu everyday, i couldn't take it anymore and had to go out to eat. Went there for 10 days to relax and sleep, only slept one day. This was the worst vacation. The only good outcome was Pedro and yorkie at the swim up bar. These 2 bar tenders made anyones day, so friendly and loving always with a smile. The luggage men also were very sweet. Definitely will not go back.

Worst experience I ever had in a resort . Was not able to sleep at night as the air conditioner does not work. Please before booking make sure ac unit if working. Was told ac has been broken for weeks and hotel is waiting for parts from Spain to get it fix. Staff was very friendly but again if a hotel in a hot country does not have air conditioned rooms might as well go else where. Management seem not to care about the issue . While I was there more then 50 rooms was complaining they try to accommodate but they knew it wasn’t gonna work, I’m saying more then 50 because we was a party of 70 and had same issues . Never will visit this hotel in my life again .

The beachfront is massive. Lots of room with plenty of palapas. They made an effort to clean up the sargassum but this year it is apparent it is impossible to keep the beach clean. Buffet food has improved over previous years to the property. Wristbands with keys made room access a breeze, never lose a key. This is a great hotel for families. Stay at the Bavaro and you have access to the Punta Cana and the Dominicana. Grounds are immense and beautiful. Don't like the upsell. We keep coming back here and don't bother to go elsewhere. Ocean is easily accessible.

There were 10 people in our group, my family with my 22 month old grandson. We first arrived the lobby is pretty, checking in and they tell us, don’t drink the water & there is no bottle water, you fill up these 2 glass containers and water stations that the water is filtered. Our rooms were not cleaned, or AC was broken changed rooms 3 times and towards the end of the week we were all sick!! Deathly ill. Do not go here Then the place didn’t want to compensate us for having to move several times!!

I was staying there for 4 nights 5days. My room had a pool view. 2beds 1sofa bed. also there was a Bar next to the pool. when you get there they are trying to sell upgrade room that has infinity pool and getting different bracelet. $100 more per night. if ocean view $500 more for staying. total $1000 He try to sell it. Bathroom and bed was not clean enough. Smell damp in bedroom. that's why they put room freshener everywhere but I have fragrance allergy. I gets bad headache. my experience of room service was bad. if you want room service give them 45 minute advance. pools, restaurants, bars are nice.

Pros: food was good. The buffet had lots of options and was always good. Steakhouse and Italian restaurant was good. Japanese was good also but they only give you small portions and it’s only chicken, steak, and shrimp with fried rice. We were only served a drink one time too. Not worth the time. Cons: everything else. It is very hot and humid here and you want a room with good A/C but they don’t have that here. We had to change rooms because the A/C didn’t work in one of them and they can’t fix it. The next room it barely worked and that’s all they can do about it. The restaurants don’t really have A/C either. So, you will be sweating everywhere you go except inside the coffee shop and marketplace store. We had 4 oceanfront suites and none of the A/C’s really worked. Will any of us come back “no” but we did have a fun time. Is it worth it “no”. It’s also not a kid friendly place and here in the DR there isn”t much to do for kids. My advice is go to Puerto Rico or Mexico. Both places are 10 times better than here. We made some good memories but none of us will be back to this resort or DR. The service is also really slow so be prepared for that. This place cuts corners in being cheap. That’s why they don’t have bottled water or fix anything except the landscape. Save your money and time and go somewhere else.

Things I did not like, rooms need to be updated, needs more maintenance, our room had a strong smell of sewage coming from the shower drain, it was horrible, there was a smell of sewage in the nearby area too. For the price paid I would have expected more! There was a lot of repetition on the food served. Although transportation was provided within the complex for people staying on the resort to and from their rooms, sometimes drivers will pass you late at night and not even offer a drive to your room, also they need to use caution when driving people, personally they drive too fast and can cause an accident specially when there are children around.

We just got back from our trip and it was such a great time! The staff went above and beyond to meet our expectations. We want to personally thank Fernando, Jocelyn, Elizabeth and Alfredo for making our trip memorable! Thank you Fernando for being a good concierge. Thank you Elizabeth and Jocelyn for being great servers and always took care of us from lunch to dinner! Thank you for Alfredo for taking care of us at the beach everyday and sharing laughs! They went above any beyond each day for us! The resort was beautiful and loved all our options! The beach was gorgeous and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! The food was delicious! We were afraid that being an all inclusive, the food would be bland but to our surprised it was all amazing with flavor! Our only big complaint would be the sewage smell. We know it’s another country and things are different but that really should be addressed especially when the smell gets into the rooms. Besides that we still recommend this hotel to everyone and hope to be back again soon!

The bathroom had bugs and a foul odor The AC was not working as expected. One night I went to the front desk to get help with the AC and the guy there and the one who was going to help me treated me like it was my fault. I felt so bad. The buffet variety was poor The hotel requires upgrades in many areas The Japanese restaurant is like a sauna, with NO AC. At the night show, they turn off the lights at 11:15. Like saying: go to your rooms, it is over. The coffee shop lady was spectacular I would avoid this hotel.

The food was excellent. We mostly ate at the Los Haitises buffet -- there was enough variety that we didn't feel the need to do the reservations. The fresh juices and sushi were some of our favorites. Nothing special about the burgers and pizza, but it was cool that they made a custom pasta sauce with ingredients of your choosing. Everybody was kind and helpful, and went above and beyond. The beach was beautiful. We would definitely visit again. One thing to improve would be to have designated smoking areas on the beach (or maybe only have smoking for your adult-only resort?). We didn't enjoy when people started smoking near us (probably didn't help that there were people selling cigars on the beach).

We had two exceptional servers at Ibero and literally all other staff members were dry or didn’t speak at all to us. The staff seemed to always be depressed. Also, our group emailed ahead of time to setup reservations and we were completely ignored. Then at the resort we weren’t able to have dinner together as group which really ruined dinner for our group.
