Beach was great
Beach is the best. Big pool very noisy. Jungle and animals are fantastic.
Lots of nature / wild stuff around the resort. Very green.
Perfect place
Very family oriented resort
wonderful rooms near the beach.
Great experience. Room was closer to the theater so a couple of nights were a bit loud. Room seemed to be a bit dated but otherwise clean. Everything else was super good including dining options, staff, quality of food, drinks, entertainment options for kids
The property had its ups and downs but Expedia is the one that truly let me down. I did not recieve the services I paid for. In fact, this hotel does not offer what Expedia sold me.
An older hotel often means more growned up trees. This property is literally located in the midst of jungle and within a gated community. Its very clean, staff is friendly, food is good. I didnt like the pretty agressive sales call attempt for Iberostar membership on the first day. The rest of the stay was great.
Looking for a spot on the beach is wild. People reserve sun beds and there is no respect.
I am 50 years old, so is my wife. Our kids are 23, 20 and 16. This resort was perfect for all of us. It was not modern, it was serene, friendly, the ambiance was just right. We went snorkeling, jet skiing, some of us went shopping. It was all very nice and side.
Been to numerous resorts, this resort was 45 minutes to an hour from airport but the food alone was well worth the drive. The rooms are a bit dated but whatever for us. Loved all the wild life around the resort. Staff was extremely pleasant. Would recommend
loved the green spaces, beach area and staff was helpful
Great place to stay
Some of the staff members weren't as welcoming
The grounds were beautiful but the service and food quality were very poor. We were a party of 14 and everyone had issues with their rooms in regards to humidity and smell. The front desk staff were very nice and professional but we still had to pay an extra $360 for a better room with no smell… ridiculous. My family and I will never stay there again .
Beautiful grounds, friendly employees, choices for food.
We were at the iberostar quetzal for a week in September. Here is what I have to say about the resort. We were very impressed with the resort and had such a great time, with a few things to note. The food was great for all inclusive, the beach was gorgeous, DO NOT miss the fire show it was incredible. Our room was nice and felt authentic although there was a sewage smell outside unfortunately. Beds were very comfortable. Absolutely NO noise was heard from outside our room which was amazing. Our room was right at the entrance of the resort, it took no more than 5 minutes to walk from our room to the beach. Beaches have umbrellas built in, be prepared to wake up early if you want a chair on the beach many people would put a towel on chairs and just leave them there all day to save their spot without coming back until the afternoon, which was kind of annoying. But the beach was beautiful, water was INCREDIBLE. They do their best to keep everyone entertained, always something going on if you felt like you wanted to participate. We thought the drinks were great and not watered down at all. We payed $35 for sunscreen at the gift shop. Pack it before you get there. Staff was always pleasant and friendly. All in all it was an amazing spot to stay and we found ourselves talking about future trips there, we are excited to stay again.
Everything was very good except 1 bar tender was very rude He was working on the bar closed to the lobby at night time I don't go at night because he was there put everything else was perfect food , drinks no se por k este tipo de hoteles contratan personas asi con actitud despota se llama [victorio] nesesita entrenamiento en servicio al cliente y tener mejor actitud yo despues de como me trato no me senti agusto yo pedi k me contactara el encargado de los bar tendres para que no les vuelva a pasar a ningun otro huesped por k creo que es un hotel de muy alta calidad para que pasen este tipo de cosas si podria contactarme el servisio mi nombre es juan Romo y mi mail jc424609@gmail.com y mi tel 310 776 1075 de usa
Great property and amazing views. The lack of AC in the rooms was extremely disappointing especially with the extremely hot weather.
Although the property is getting older, it remains nice, and the staff tries their best to ensure guests enjoy themselves. They offer a variety of food options, they provide exercise activities, have a massage/spa package, and they have a very eco friendly setting with wildlife on the property.
Let me preface this review by saying that we’ve been at Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal 2 times in the past 2 years. The resort we have in our memory is nothing compared to what it got turned into right now. Here are some points of what made this Iberostar Quetzal vacation a total nightmare: 1. Fire Alarm testing: It routinely had to happen every other day, if not every day, in the middle of the day, while we were taking a nap. Usually it would last about 2-3 minutes or so, which I guess was ok. BUT on the last day, it lasted for 30 uninterrupted minutes (even though when called the front desk they said it should be no longer than 5 minutes). We thought it was all and we can finally rest BUT NO — it still kept going on and off every 1-3 minutes and lasting for 2-3 minutes each time. The total time of this insanity lasted MORE THAN 2 HOURS. So you can imagine, taking a daytime nap was impossible at this place. Maybe they expected us to be at the beach from morning to the evening? I don’t know… Also, turns out that they made housekeeping go and silence the alarm every time it went off, at least that’s what we observed a few times. The management/security didn’t even bother to put the alarm in silent mode or something until we went and spoke to the manager. 2. The first room we were placed in had a strong smell of paint and someone was hammering non-stop in the room next door. Thankfully, we were able to switch the room but the only other available room required us to pay extra $150
Located right on the beach. However since the property is so vast, depending on where your room is, getting to the beach might be a walk. We didn't mind, in fact we loved that walk and the wildlife that we saw. The staff are very friendly and the food choices are wonderful. The food is high quality. We were not disappointed. The rooms could use an upgrade. The power outlets were very inconveniently located. We would definitely visit again
Well maintained Cleanliness Animals Outdoor Scenery Jose at Sports Bar is the absolute best there!
Resort inside the forest
Beautiful resort! Lots of food/bar options!
We recently stayed here for a family vacation. 30 family members in one place. We had to cut our trip short due to Hurricane Beryl, unfortunately. Some pros and cons to note. Let’s start with the good! The staff are wonderful. The property is beautifully kept. The golf cart rides around the property are much appreciated. We stayed in an oceanfront room. It’s quite a ways from the front desk, so you’ll want the ride. The Japanese restaurant was good. We weren’t able to try the other restaurants. The beach was also nice. They keep it very clean. The not so good, in my opinion… we went during the first week of July. It was so hot when eating at the buffet. There is no air flow in that area. There are fans very high up on the ceiling that don’t help. The buffet is open to air, so flies are a huge issue. They’re all over everything. As I went to scoop dried fruit from the yogurt bar, gnats went everywhere. Breakfast was spent swatting away flies while trying to feed our baby, and sweating while sipping on coffee. But, the buffet has any food you could want! When you leave your room, there are sensors. For energy conservation, the power is shut off when you close the door. It takes awhile to cool the room off when you return. You must call the front desk if you want to lower the temp below 20 degrees Celsius. Our room never got below 74 F. Overall, our family enjoyed the stay. Also, book USA transfers to and from the airport. They were amazing!
Great location, Gray staff great restaurants
i like everything the staff was very nice
Great Hotel for families, plenty of entertainment for kids (jungle, animals, kids club…). Loved our stay!
Ok
Challenge with Hurricane during our visit but staff and Resort did an excellent job of preparing and cleaning up tree and leaf removal afterwards. Iberostar experience was excellent.
The room and the view: We have been to other Iberostars, this 1 paled in comparison. We upgraded premier room to a junior suite oceanfront on the G/F but our view was obstructed by beach beds. The room is large, comfy beds, good shower. They give only give shampoo, shower gel and conditioner even in a suite room! Entertainment: Some entertainment was exceptional eg Fire show. The other entertainment was OK - their dancing, costumes and sets were good but some of their singers were awful in the Once Upon show. Food: Food was good in the buffets. Restaurants were nothing exceptional. Total debacle - reservation at the Japanese - we were there by 6:17 and they cancelled our reservation saying they could only wait till 6:15! Very long wait for Italian - 45 minutes! No reservation taken! Mediterranean was average - nothing to write home about. Note their version of Mediterranean is seafood not middle eastern. Property: The property itself is quite small - if you are there for 4 days, run out of things to do. The property is beautiful - lots of animals, flamingos, monkeys, iguanas, coates, agoutis, waterfalls - which you cannot swim in btw. They keep the beach clean by cleaning up the seaweed which is nice. The pools are nice but mostly in the sun - no shaded areas. Reception: Check in/Check out - was very slow When our room door stopped working - it took them 40 minutes to troubleshoot! Spa: Good massages, small hydrotherapy area. I would not go back.
Such a nice and clean property. Service is 10/10. The restaurants were excellent. Hotel staff excellent.
I loved the location of the property. Wish the rooms were a little more updated
Everything was great. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. The only con is there is minimal pool side service. You have to wait in long line to get a drink. Some of the drinks taste watered down. They have premium brands showcased on bar wall but do not actually use those brands.
We loved the property there are lots of great places to eat. We always felt safe and if there is a problem there is always a staff member close to help.
Brilliant ❤️
Toilet flooded two nights in a row onto our belongings in the restroom and we couldn’t flush the toilet after use. Staff at the beach side buffet were very unprofessional and catered to the guests of their choice.
The rooms were outdated, the air conditioning was broke, the fan was broke, the food and drinks were low quality, bar staff was not personable, food waiting times after being seated were extremely long, dining halls were hot and therefore not enjoyable dining. Not a vacation, the resort does not get credit for having a nice ocean
Great for family trips for your kiddos. The environment is very different with the animals around the property. Lots of different pools and dining areas. The beach was really nice as well. Dining offered great food just needs better organization. In some restaurants you couldn’t reserve seats while others you had to make reservations. So confusing and annoying that we had to wait 2 hours to dine in at the Italian when we thought we had to physically wait there when we could’ve left and done other things.
My room flooded over nite and my belongings were ruined and soaked… I woke up to use restrooms and the floor was flooded I almost slipped very dangerous and all the could do is apologize there weren’t any other rooms available to move into..
Great property. Rooms a little dated but still fine
The property was beautiful. Loved the jungle theme and natural areas. The Beach parties in the evening were the best I've been to. Great food too.
too expensive spa, massage.food quality wasn’t good.
Truly enjoyed my stay here, from the food options and how easily accessible everything was to the nice and quiet peaceful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back soon🙏 the staff was always so attentive to everything, the facilities were always super clean, and everything well organized. Overall I was really satisfied with my stay here. They also had different events every day and night, so it was also fun at the same time… and family friendly which was a huge plus for me since we took our 6 yr old.
Loved the wildlife
Guys! pictures, videos don't do Ibosteral Quetzal justice. This place is amazing! Never did My family or I seen any employee with a bad attitude. They were so welcoming, helpful. Theres just no words. Thanks Ibosteral Quetzal for the Amazing time!
The environment of fauna was great
One of the best vacations I’ve ever had. The staff is great. The vibes are amazing. Food is the best! I could have stayed at the resort my whole vacation and i would have been happy. Will definitely be back!
Second time at this fun resort
This was our second time at this resort and we were there with our kids and grandkids. We all had fun. Sadly, one of our family members picked up a very serious staphylococcus infection either from the gym equipment or the pool and had to start 3 kinds of antibiotics and antihistamines.
Great
Grounds were beautiful staff very nice
We loved the beautiful ocean view, the entertainment crew, and the dining options. There was no need to visit specialty restaurants due to the vast and delectable selections on the daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet. The chef came to our table at least once daily to ask for advice or recommendations on future meals. There was a nightly activity usually with dancing. Their crew made even the person with the least rhythm feel like they were a star dancer. A few negatives- 1) Only one swim up bar and it was closed 4 of the 6 days we were there. 2) There were no breakfast dining options near the beach. Definitely download the Iberostar app for this resort prior to arriving so you can better plan your stay.
The place needs a makeover it hasn’t changed in 10 years , the decorations in the room are still the same , no electrical outlet next to the bed . They need to remove the peacocks there loud and the wake you up in the morning and you can’t take a nap in the afternoon they never stop squawking. I’ve been here 7 times but this is the last until they change.
Very nice resort. We loved it a lot. Very nice territory. Setups, clean rooms. Beautiful surroundings. Two breakfast and lunch buffets were excellent!. Dinner restaurants were rather disappointment. We went to all offered restaurants and all of them were medium to low quality. I would suggest to stick to buffets. But overall it was very good experience.
The lobby Mexican atmosphere is unique, resturant’s, bar’s, room service’s staff are very friendly and the best to help relax and rest.. thank you services staff for your professional attitude and very customer service friendly. Restaurant and bar facilities with their varieties on daily basis are A-One great. Main pool and surrounding are awesome. Private Beach with it’s clear Aqua Marine Ocean colour is breathtaking. I did not like: - Reception staff training for better customer service is recommended since they are the facade of the entire resort and make or break the visitors rest and relaxation vacation time. - Sea weed cleaning is not done early morning hours as used to be. - Children pool facility is great but need to introduce sun shading since babies and toddlers can not stand the sun heat. Overall, Iberostar Quetzel is great resort and it is my distinction. Highly recommended. Thank you for giving me the chance to share my recent experience on May 29-26, 2024
Great property. Very beautiful and great amenities.
Hotel staff are very welcoming and friendly and accomodating, the entertainment group are very entertaining wii definitely return.
Courteous and professional staff. Beautiful location.
.
Awesome jungle forest on the short walk to the beach with monkeys and all kinds of other unique animals. Everything was clean and the food was good!
Keyla Bravo was great loved everything about hotel loved it
The property has a great jungle feel to it with interesting wildlife roaming the grounds. The pools are very clean and well kept. The beach is large with plenty of space for fun in the sun. There were plenty of options for food that made it easy to find what you are interested in. The resort is about a 1.5 hour walk by beach in Carmen which makes for a perfect day trip as well!!
I loved everything about the place
High pressure sales tactics for the iberostar "club" we're absolutely awful and wasted a full morning of our vacation.
Excelente para escapada en familia
Fui con mi Familia y la pasamos genial, rodeados de naturaleza y todos los animales, la comida muy buena y el servicio, no nos gustaron los shows muy malos
A very pleasant surprise! Just the perfect spot for the perfect vacation! Not a single complaint.
Didn't have a working T.V., but I don't go on vacation to watch television. Outstanding beach and pool. very helpful people everywhere.
Most impressive was the nature inside the resort and how they preserved it.
We have been to Mexico many times and go to nice hotels. The rooms are very clean and they are ok. That’s more like 4stars. However everything else was superb!!! Daniel from guest services went way above and beyond to accommodate us. He arranged for us to get something we needed that was not at the hotel and had it delivered same day. The staff at the buffet were wonderful as well! And this property has so many animals you are never bored walking to or from the beach. Makes you feel like you are in a rainforest. It’s wonderful all around!
First time at an Iberostar and it won’t be our last! The pool was fantastic, beach was beautiful- great water activities ! The staff is friendly and attentive. Food quality was great
I think they need to improve the alcoholic choices. It is a 5 stars accommodation and offer very low cost drinks. The rooms can use some updates. A bit uncomfortable pillows. Very nice greenery
A
We stayed in Iberostar Quetzal and had a great time. The chef and staff at La Hacienda smoke house (Jose, Rafael and Juan) were amazing and helped us (especially our kids) feel very special.
The property is dated. The grounds are pretty with interesting wildlife, which kept the kids entertained. The “jr suite” was sub par. Small, and poor lay out. Not conducive for a family of four. The food was mediocre in the general buffet areas. The Italian restaurant was the best. The staff and service was mostly good. The all inclusive lent itself to weak, low end beverages. Must tip well to receive what you ask for. Will most likely not return.
Nice older hotel food drinks very good can use some needed repairs
No me gustan los hoteles todo incluido pero con este me quito el sombrero excelente comida servicio limpieza y excelente playa
Variety of grounds with jungle, animals, beach and pools.
Overall very good value
Great - staff, location, options for things to do, overall layout. Good - quality and variety of food/drinks. OK - trying to get beach/poolside seating - I have to admit, we were there over spring break so I guess we should have expected that.
We were here 6 nights with our 16 months baby. Everything is perfect, lots of options for food. Great cocktails and coffee in lobby bar. Thank you!
Very family friendly, nice accommodations, good selection of onsite dining. Beautiful beach area.
Pretty average
The entertainment team and kids club team were top notch! The landscaping is outstanding. The food was good. The alcoholic drinks were substandard!
The jungle-like park, with birds, monkeys and coatis was nice
Hotel muy cuidado, ordenado, con muy buenas habitaciones y playa muy limpia
Beach is absolutely perfect, staff are amazing, property and rooms were very clean, more food choices than you can imagine.
We loved the amenities, the junglelike atmosphere with wildlife, the food and drink, and the amazing, friendly, helpful staff.
Beautiful jungle environment. Peacocks on the grounds and monkeys in the trees. The restaurants, especially the buffets were amazing. The staff were kind and hospitable. Loved my time and will definitely return.
They do not have enough beach chairs. Half of the beach is RENTAL CHAIRS for 63 usd! Per person! This is unacceptable! There is 100 empty chairs while everyone fights for an available seat. I have never been to a resort that makes you battle for a seat. They upcharge you at every turn they can. Very vampiric business tactics. The room was not properly cleaned and had old food left in the fridge. Staff at the night bar left early and laughed as they walked past. The beach bar is overwhelming busy yet they will not staff it appropriately. The rooms are very dated, with only 2 available receptacles (after unplugging the tv and lamp). The resort itself is beautiful, but it is sullied by poor management, fake promises and its severe over crowding. Truly disappointed.
More choice of evening dining and more lunch places.
The property is beautiful and the staff was great. My suggestions - screen doors on the sliding glass doors so we can leave the window open to listen to the ocean without letting critters or bugs in. Also, a real coffee pot in the room so that we can make decent coffee without walking all the way to the restaurant. The little coffee makers in the room are not very good.
This hotel is amazing, a great place with everything you need
The resort was amazing, staff super accomodating and the beach was absolutely gorgeous, very well maintained
Loved the overall property. The jungle area between Quetzal and Tucan was beautiful. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Food options were good for the most part…found my favorite things after a few days that I migrated towards. Wasn’t really a fan of the Italian restaurant. The smokehouse was really good, and I am coming from Texas! My kids loved the beach, pool, and the entertainment. I would come back to this resort again.
Food was outstanding. Service was top notch. Beach was clean and easily accessible. Only complaint was we could hear our neighbors at night
La vegetacion, la vista, los animales en el lugar y la maravillosa locacion
Great hotel. Went with kids and they all had fun. Joined star kids club and they have different activities daily for the kids.
Great

The location is awesome!
