Pool and common game area was great for kids.
Property seems a bit dated. Service was good but nothing knocked our socks off. Restaurant options were limited and not kid-friendly.
It's a great looking hotel and relaxing
I pretty much liked everything about the property, except that you have to pay for parking.
This property is beautiful. The peacefulness of the property is a great place to recharge and connect with your spouse.
Love this place
I paid taxes and fees at time of booking, but on my incidental bill on the way out there were three $40 resort fees for each day of what was a two night stay. It was very misleading as I had already paid fees. There's no way around these fees and they could have easily built them into the fees I already paid at booking or into the room price itself. Very misleading. If the room is actually $40 more than I think I'm paying, I should be told that upfront.
Getting a bit dated.
Loved being on mission bay. They have great amenities. The hotel room was very very dusty, and our allergies were bad when in thevhotel room and we were stuffed up inside.
Was an amazing stay.
Nice area, tower is a bit old.
Staff was professional and nice
Nice location, older hotel
our room was nice but the doors weren’t working they wouldn’t lock, the toilet chain was broken we had to be adjusting it every time we flushed.
So-So
We booked ahead and paid for the parking thru Hotels.com. When we got to the hotel it was about 930pm. The front desk staff was very friendly and checked us in promptly. They told us they didnt have a luggage cart so we had to carry our bags around the building to the front entrance of the tower (not easy when you have a toddler and a newborn). We went to park the truck and their parking area is rather small and there were no spaces available. It has a small underground parking but we didnt clear (6'4" clearance). We were told they would vallet the truck for no charge. When we went over there we got some push back from the vallet guys about parking the truck. Eventually they took it. The room was clean. We didnt have them service the room while we were there. The beds were comfortable. No ice machine. We paid for a balcony room which we thought would be a garden, marina or ocean view.... it was of the parking lot. Not alot of food options in the area that would be great for kids. Not sure we would stay here again for the price we paid.
Motel type building along with scam Charges
This hotel is a scam Firstly look closely for the room your are booking. They have two 1 story motel type buildings in addition to the tower. Motel type buildings do not even have a roof outside your door. I have stayed at better motels than this. Then their way of tracking pool towels is a scam. Looks for fake charges on your account of $25 pool towel after a day or two even though you followed the automated instructions to return the towel. The the breakfast package ... This is not a buffet. You are charged for the breakfast to your room which then gets refunded . Please note the gratuity of 18% and additional 6% service charges are not refunded..
TV could not support Google casting. AC is too loud
Great staff abd nice facility. Pool water can be warmer would be ideal
We stayed here with our dog. Very nice bay view and the glass land along the bay is good for dog walking. We enjoyed the hot tub and heated swimming pool. The staffs are very friendly and very helpful. I forgot to take my phone when checkout, and only found that when we were on the road. But the hotel called us back, thanks for Kayla, who kept it until we went back. Overall, Great stay and definitely recommend.
Original reservation was messed up. Took 30 minutes to get things straight. The property needs updating. There were no glasses in the restroom, the towels were frayed, the workout area was not vented well, the restaurants were expensive. Wasnt what I expected from a Hyatt.
Nice
Great all around
We picked this property because of its pool slide, for the use of our two grandsons. However, the slides are only available from Noon to 5PM, which is the time that most guest are out and about seeing the various San Diego parks and attractions. Then at 7:30 PM one night, our room door became inoperable ... it took the Hotel over 90 minutes to get the door open, while my family, who was very tired and wanted to go to bed, had to wait. Then it took another hour to repair the same door, which was noisy further keeping my group awake. For all this inconvenience, the hotel only offered to eat one night resort fee. I objected, because I didn't feel that was enough. Then they offered to waive another night's resort fee and provide courtesy bottled waters (4) to the room. I accepted, but the waters never were delivered. My take on this is the staff seem unprepared and not empowered to ensure that guests are happy.
The location was definitely the plus side to this property. It was walkable to a waterway and many restaurants. All staff were also very nice!
Event the night we weee there made our experience horrible.
Our heater didn’t work, the room wasn’t very clean and the water got cold quickly
Nice resort overall Close to sea world and 5min To the beach
Daily resort fee and parking fee too high, price for daily resort nor parking wasnt listed on listing.
The on property restaurants and bar were nice. The oysters were amazing. Walking distance to pier where you can go on excursions to see sea lions and whales. Staff was kind.
Thought that the self parking charge of $50 night was way too high. Website says $25
Nothing crazy. Just average. You would think there would be breakfast for the price.
Great place for a family vacation
Garden area was beautiful and walkable. Only problems: Room 410 Heat did not work. We were freezing all night. Room 405 - was suppose to get a Marina view...... unfortunately all it was was a view of the roof of the hotel below. disappointing.
The whole place was clean, personel ate great. Kayla that checked un in was wonderful friendly and very knowledgeable. The only issue was our luggage was never taken to our room and after1 1/2 my husband had to go get it. The guys at the valet parkwere amazing. We will definitely come back
Loved it!
Great stay with amazing view. We could have stayed longer!! We will definitely return!!
It was really annoying that on each of the 4 days we were there, the hotel was power washing the entire pool deck area, with a very loud, gasoline powered, power washer. Every morning, 7am through 9am. I feel there must have been a more customer friendly metid to do this, like scrub brushes and a hose maybe.
Excellent
Parking was $50 overnight. Untrained staff slowed the check in process. No apologies were given but upgraded to a room with a view. Not a good experience overall.
Great hotel with friendly staff and amazing beach views.
Loved everything about it. The staff we encountered were all great and so kind. It really felt like Oahu. My kids loved the location and how it was so convenient to SeaWorld and the hotel pool closes late which is so convenient. A bonus is that the pool was heated!
Beautiful property. Great place to stay with family.
The suite smells like the couches were washed and they are not dry enough, the bathtub does not drain and water stays for long, there was mosquitoes inside the suite. I stay at this hotel at least twice a year and all my previous stays were good but this time it was not at all.
The amenities were not clear I wasn't quite aware of them maybe because i checked in late in the evening
Great resort for family!
This resort is BEAUTIFUL and the staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast is great, and the arcade game and foosball in the lobby of our building were fun and a nice touch. Kids loved the pool and waterslides. We weren’t thrilled with the sliding door on our washroom, and parking can be difficult late in the evening, but these were minor inconveniences at an otherwise great place to stay.
Nice, comfortable & good restaurants & service. Wish salt water pools & spa open longer.
Very nice all around. Except the daily rate of “parking” very high.
For the cost of each night, I was expecting better customer service. We had to chase reception for housekeeping twice.
Highly recommend
Super friendly staff, especially at the front desk. Isabella and Maddy were exceptional and went out of there way to make sure myself and a few other guest were taken care of. Beds are super comfortable as well. Good food and great location. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town again.
San Diego is very nice. The weather was perfect. My daughter enjoyed the watersides. Now the bad part. Our room smelled musty. It smelled like mildew. My wife asked me what was on the bottom of my feet? They were black. Then she noticed the bottom of her feet were black. The carpet was so dirty that our feet were black. The carpet was absolutely filthy. The house keeper put towels through out the whole room for us, but this definitely ruined our stay.
Noisy late at night with drag racers up and down the streets. 23 sept. Some rooms on the various floors were used for a conference. Tables were on each floor in the hallway by food/drinks, right next to the elevators . People roamed from room to room knocking on guest doors numerous times . We stayed 6 nights and those were the only issues we had.
N/A
The room I had reserved and paid for already through Expedia was no longer available. Not sure how this happened. The lady at the front desk did her best to make sure I got something comparable to what I had reserved and paid for already.
Beautiful grounds and area. We enjoyed the pools and slides. The Red Marlin restaurant was great. The spa was a disapointment. There was never anyone at the dront desk. I think it must have been appointment only and there were none available during my stay for the servcies i wanted. Also, there were no day passes available for the steam or sauna.
Nice
Perfect hotel near the water with enjoyable views! It really gives you the vacation vibes you need especially when you can watch the sunset off your balcony!
I recently stayed at Hyatt Mission Bay, and while the hotel itself was decent, I was hit with a ridiculous $250 charge for something as simple as leaving pool towels in my room instead of the pool area. There were no visible signs or warnings about this absurd policy, and I certainly wasn’t informed upon check-in. Expecting me and my children to walk back to our room in dripping wet clothes just to avoid this charge is not only inconvenient but a safety hazard. Walking through the hallways soaking wet could easily cause someone to slip and get hurt. This is not how a family-friendly hotel should operate. Instead of penalizing guests for something as minor as this, the hotel should either clearly warn guests about the policy upfront or, better yet, reconsider such an unreasonable practice altogether. I won’t be returning and definitely wouldn’t recommend it to others unless they want to be blindsided by hidden fees.
No room service

Worth for the price
So beautiful and peaceful we had an amazing vacation
This is a beautiful property. Its has a Hawaiian feel to it. The staff are freindly and helpful
Me encantaría volverme a quedar ahi
Ocean view was beautiful
Value
Kind of a sleepy property for its size. Only one good restaurant option. Gift shop closed at 8pm. Nice pool and jacuzzi.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here However I was disappointed with the restaurant options.
Great View from the room...located right on the water...staff was very friendly and helpful. Awesome location, close to everything in and around San Diego. Will definitely come back.
Property is extremely loud. For the amount of money this location charges I wouldn’t recommend.
Amazing property 10/10 Staff was awlays friendly and the food was delicious 😋 Next trip, I'm staying here again.
Very disappointing
The hotel is in desperate need of a deep cleaning. The pool, along with cabana’s were filthy. The water was murky and huge clumps of hair floating around. Garbage sand and dirt all over the pool deck all five days we stayed. The rooms were just as dirty. There were previous guests items in our room, mold in the sink, thick layers of dust everywhere. Our room was never vacuumed, they would replace towels but that was it. We had a room with ocean view but unfortunately the neighbours were smoking pot and our room became intolerable from the smell of pot through the adjoining door. We were moved to a lower floor with a parking lot view. Over all the pictures on the site are lovely but the hotel is the exact opposite. Very disappointing considering what Hyatt is supposed to stand for and the amount they charge . We will not be booking at a Hyatt again.
This property is in a great location. It's really close to the beach and other attractions around. Pools are nice and hested. However its always unpleasantly windy all day long. The wind makes it to cold to spend the day in the water even for the kids. They also have a bunch of resort fees that get added onto your final bill along with a pricey parking bill.
Fantastic
Fantastic service , quick and efficient
Property was amazing. Great service, awesome pool, close to everything. Very clean and very nice.
Overall was a great resort but the properly needs some attention - no hot water in the washbasin, bath wouldn’t drain, and the room hadn’t been set up for the number of guests we had in our party when we arrived.
For $600 a night save your money and go somewhere else! I have not stayed here in probably a decade and sad to say it’s so run down. The pool area is filthy and in need of a major facelift. The slides are super fun but the attendant was on his on his phone the whole making it a longer wait than it needed to be. We waited 60 minutes for chicken tenders for them to come out cold and rock hard. The ice cream machine was broken at the shaved ice station, maybe take ice cream off the sign. In the morning we came back to the pool and I’ve been waiting 45 minutes to get my drink because there’s one bartender and a large crowd. Our room was not as clean as a $600 room should be. There was hair and dust all over the coffee / fridge area and black sand at the bottom of our tub. I would have requested someone come clean it but it was such a hassle to check in that we didn’t want to deal with it. I’d stay away from the food at the pelican too, I and chips and quac and threw up all night. The only positive here is Oz at the front desk. When we checked in they tried to charge me a higher rate than I had booked for. Apparently it’s because I changed my room and it was an upgrade. They just failed to mention the additional charges when they changed it. Thankfully Oz was able to take care of that charge. That’s all I can really say. The atmosphere is great but the hotel is a mess and not worth the extremely high price tag!
Absolutely a phenomenal staff from valet, bell captain, front desk, housekeeping, restaurant staff, pool staff. Cannot say enough great things about the staff. The spa/salon staff was fabulous. Great stay.
Great property. Check in was late and then when I got into the room it was dirty. Parking was extremely expensive.
Not happy
Clean nice. Not jappy with lovation of my room. I asked for balcony when I booked and they over booked and gave my room away.
Great place
This is a great place to stay with beautiful views. It’s very family friendly & just a 5 min drive to Mission Beach.
Na
I was disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The cleanliness was a major issue—the floor was so dirty that it made our feet black, which was unacceptable. The location is quite isolated, so you'll definitely need to rent a car to get around. Unfortunately, the nearby food options were not great, leaving us with limited choices. Also, don't be fooled by the pictures online; the hotel is much older in real life and not worth the money. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
Disappointing stay
Safe did not work. No one picked up when called down to three different departments. Kids running in hall ways , unable to locate a chaise lounge at pool the day we wanted to hang out. Disappointing stay
Noisy but otherwise good
Perfect getaway
Coming from the low desert it was a very nice & cool getaway before my granddaughter goes back to school. She had a blast in the pool & the slides
Very happy with my stay it was so beautiful all over the property and very quiet in our room!
We paid a lot of money and we were very excited to stay at this hotel but it was very crowded dirty and noisy. Our bathroom had mold growing and the toilet was bubbling all the time. The pools were disgusting with dirt and hair floating in the water and no seats available because of the number of people.
Loved everything about this property and the staff was truly the definition of good customer service
My stay
I paid over $500.00 per night through Hotels.com. Your rooms were around $280.00 per night. I'm not sure why you work with Hotels.com. Sounds like they are ripping people off. But the area and Hotel were very nice and the people extremely helpful. Thanks.
Wonderful location, in need of renovation
This was a short stay of only one night, but the location was so great that we would have been happy to stay longer. It's surrounded by water, there is a boardwalk with a gym and a cafe, and so much of San Diego is within a short drive. The rooms itself felt a little rundown and not quite worth the high cost. This was ironic since the checkin person said that she was upgrading us to a renovated room, but the room was a ground floor facing a parking lot (and not the balcony we had reserved) and parts of the room were a little dingy. The wicker furniture on the porch was completely coming undone.
Horrible Hyatt ever , $700 per night, too old facilities and wet carpet
The hotel was very kid friendly! Had water slides for different ages. One for toddlers, no height requirement. Another for bigger kids, that you have to be above 42 inches. Other activities, ping pong table, giant connect four, cornhole, snow cones, water balloon toss, dance party, and music playing at the pool. It was like a little club for kids. Definitely a great place to stay if you have kids.
Loved it... came with my kids and the room service was amazing i called so many times and they were always on time and never complained...room was beautiful i.woukd definitely stay again
Very nice room and lovely grounds!
We stay at this location every year. Love the pool and all the activities during the day. Mostly the overall atmosphere is unbeatable. See you next year!
Great activities in pool or around pool. The pool area was a little dirty- wet napkins and empty cups on the floor- staff was not proactive about picking up trash. Also room 2116 was loud because kids were playing video games and foosball very late at night!??? Not the best spot for those activities?
The main issue is the limited elevator use for the tower. It’s completely unacceptable that there are only two elevator options, with the amount of guests staying. The stay was good, it would have made the stay much easier if the entire elevator system was operational.
The property was very nicely landscaped around the pools. Very much a resort feel. The elevator’s unfortunately were down to only 2 instead of 3 in the tower building which caused some long wait times.
I loved our hotel view of the ocean! It was beautiful!! Unfortunately, our television remote was inconsistently working. Also, needed more choices of movies, not spending $20.00/per movie. The bathroom sink needed the drain unplugged…slow drainage. At the end of our stay…I hated that u charge $50/day for self parking…that is ridiculous! Plus all the extra fees…don’t u think we spend enough on our hotel stay!! Mike & Yolanda Johnson
Property was amazing, room was too. The pools are great for the kids. Down side was the food and drinks are way over priced! I get resorts are higher, their prices are outrageous. Eat and drink else where, or go shopping like I did and pack a cooler for the kiddos. Lots to do and see with a short Uber drive in many directions.
Service was perfect
