Great location. Excellent breakfast
Fantastic little boutique hotel, very conveniently situated and easy access to everything. The staff was very welcoming and the complimentary minibar super useful! Thanks again for the wonderful stay!
Excellent staff, every single one was kind, caring, and attentive.
We enjoyed the stay. The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean.
Lovely hotel with excellent staff
Close to Cruise ship
It was so close to the port which was perfect! What a beautiful city Trieste is. Our only gripe was there was no shelves in our bathroom to put anything down. Very strange. They absolutely need to put some up.
Loved the hotel. Front staff friendly and efficient. Morning breakfast with lots of cheese, meats, fresh juice etc, etc. great area. Restaurants, bars, shopping easy walking distance. If you’re going on a cruise you can see your ship out your window. We walked to the ship with our bags. Love it and would go back.

Fabulous friendly staff. Excellent location and delicious breakfast
Very comfortable spacious and modern room, well located in the centre of Trieste.
Nice rooms, helpful staff. Near center of town.
The hotel is in a old well cared for building right by the main square which is across from the cruise ports which was our reason for coming. The hotel has a lift and a very modern feel. The wood floors are lovely. We appreciated how helpful the staff were and that the items in the fridge were complimentary. We would definitely stay again if in Trieste.
It was close to port. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were very quaint. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Loved the fresh squeezed orange juice. Front desk staff is knowledgeable and friendly and has your best interest in mind.
Excellent services, all staff are very hospitality. Nice and clean hotel. Great location to cruise ship. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and train station. I love the breakfast. Serve fresh press orange juice. Great Italy cappuccino coffee. Special coked egg. Breakfast area is decorated sophistically. A guy at breakfast area are very nice and work very hard.he made environment neat, cute and clean
outstanding pre-cruise hotel in trieste
Great location next to the square and walking distance to cruise port. Ideal for cruise transfer. Wonderful city and smart stylish hotel
Location
Still traveling, so short review. This hotel was a definite highlight of our trip so far. Don't remember why we picked it many months ago. but it was one of the lucky pics of our travel year! Superb staff, good food, beautiful room, perfect location! We will remember the Vis-à-vis hotel for a long time.
We’re unclear about breakfast not being included then charged a bundle for a truly crap breakfast. Also room was just bleak. We had booked two nights but only stayed one and moved on to Venice early.
Very friendly staff, beautiful hotel
Great location for picking up our cruise ship and viewing some tourist attractions. Less than 2 km to train station. Room was clean, quiet, comfortable, and spacious. Many places to eat within a few blocks.
Cruisers - stay a day or two and see Trieste!
All were very helpful, price was excellent and as advertised, and the staff ensured our family had 3 rooms together despite last minute reservations. I certainly recommend this and it was a perfect solution for us pre-cruise; wonderful and reasonably-priced restaurants including an excellent beer and burger place next door, and the beautiful town square, shopping, and a Roman Theater all only steps away, and a short (300M?) walk to the cruise terminal. The area near cruise terminals can sometimes be dicey in the US, but Trieste is beautiful! Only minor drawback was no real view from the room (didnt matter to us) and a brief confusion at checkin since the front desk was actually located in a hotel just across the street (at Grand Hotel Duchi Daosta, think owned by the same family). Complimentary non-alcoholic minibar is a nice touch. Beautiful modern rooms, very helpful and friendly staff.
Beautiful hotel , clean and good location . Friendly and helpful staffs
The hotel was walkable distance to many sites and restaurants and conveniently located to busses. We were able to walk to the cruise ship with our luggage in the morning for easy embarkation. The room was small but cute, clean, and functional.
We were able to walk about a block to our cruise ship. The room was newly updated, fresh and clean and the people helpful and friendly. So glad we stayed there!
Poor service
Poor service. the reception is in the other main hotel. One night when we came back from late dinner, the entire building had emergency alarm really loud. the reception in the other building told us to wait 15 min but at the end we had to wait 1 hour without proper explanation. We were very tired to wait until 11pm but the reception worker didn’t care us much and seemed she didn’t know what to do and just repeated “I’m sorry” without taking any action. that’s not something i expected from 4 star hotel. Very dissapointing service.
Lovely property and location. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Excellent value. Just wonderful!
The hotel has a great location in the very center of Trieste. Everything is in a walking distance (restaurants, shops...etc.) The staff is very polite. Price of breakfast is rather high, so it is better if you go to some of the restaurants nearby.
I had a great time and really enjoyed this hotel! The staff was excellent, even walking me from the check-in hotel (across the street) all the way to my room. The room was very nice (standard for Europe, small for Americans lol) and I loved the bath tub. Location is perfect to explore the city and plenty of food options within walking distance. Highly recommend!
The room was very nice but all of the staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay there again.
Close to port
Ideal location for main piazza and places of interest
Fantastic stay in Trieste
Staff was very friendly. Would recommend to anyone wanting a stay in central Trieste. Old world charm with modern functionality.
Location is absolutely perfect, right in the middle of everything. The staff goes above and beyond to help you with whatever you need. Truly a 5 star experience after a rough trip getting here to Italy.
Conveniently located in the middle of the city, a block from the water -- more precisely the Trieste Cruise Terminal. We arrived via train, and it was just a short walk (20 minutes with luggage) from the station. Better yet ... the cruise ship that we would board a couple days later was at that Cruise Terminal -- call it a 5-minute walk from the Hotel! Never mind that the hotel room was well kept -- clean, bathroom, et all. Could not have asked for more! Will definitely return!
Hard to find
Short stay
Good location, sister hotel undergoing renovations so no on-site breakfast available Very helpful and attentive staff, keen to oblige. Lively late night bar adjacent, but windows offer good soundproofing and a/c works well
Clean room, efficient staff and excellent breakfast . The location is perfect!
View from the Window in the room was another building 10 ft away. So curtain was always closed. A “classic” room meant such a room per front desk, but when we made the reservation, that issue was never stated. And this hotel had only 1 floor — 1st floor!!!
Great
Lovely hotel excellent facilities - huge comfortable bed, lovely room but flakey wifi in room - much better downstairs. Great breakfasts too.
Clean, amazing and late check out
Disappointing quality but very nice
The hotel is nice, modern and ideally located in the center. However, the reception is at a different hotel across the street which makes one lose out on the services- when you ask for something it takes a while, plus I was very disappointed for not being allowed to use the pool at the main hotel because apparently you can only use it via elevator access from the main hotel (because of no changing rooms downstairs?!). The breakfast was also not great- some cold cuts, scrambled eggs and store-bought cakes; we asked if we could pay and order an omelette or salmon or something a la carte, but that wasn’t possible. Overall a nice hotel with nice rooms on a nice location but don’t expect too much.
It’s a good enough for what you pay for.
The room is good size for Trieste. The shower room is excellent. The phone doesn’t work so we had to call the reception using our cell phone . The only elevator didn’t work 1 morning but was fixed right away but it’s only 1 floor up. The breakfast is across the street at Grand Duchi hotel but that was ok but I did not like the breakfast selections. I still recommend this hotel for room comfort. Overall I won’t mind staying here again if the rate is much lower than Grand Duchi.
Great hotel, great location.
Great location, really helpful staff, well worth paying for valet parking. Trieste is a wonderful city.
Someone smoked in our room
It was horrible- the room was supposed to be non-smoking. We did not notice the smell initially as we had just driven from Venice and we were tired. But sleeping with smoking odor - you know how it gets after a while. When I mentioned it at checkout they did not even apologize. Parking is difficult.
good enogh
good stay in general. simply room was dark.
We will stay at this Hotel again in the future.
Hotel full of character
This is out third stay in the hotel, the place remains the same charming place as it has been for us. The staff could not have been more helpful and the standard of food and service remains excellent
Excellent hotel.
The check in staff were very helpfull and friendly. They went out of the way to provide assistance.
Superb hotel in the heart of town.
The location of hotel is great, right on the main Trieste square so all attractions, shops and restaurants are in easy walking distance. The staff are very courteous and helpful. The room we stayed in was excellent but had a problem with noise from the room above. You could hear every footstep and the occupants liked walking about at all hours. We didn't let it spoil our vacation but it was annoying. We would definitely stay again.
Your desk staff are amazing! I found them extremely helpful and accommodating.
The best location in the city, nice and modern, very quiet room, good breakfast, with a little slow service
Couldn't be happier in Padova
Very comfortable room, pleasant and attentive service, great location
Beautiful and central
Clean, quiet, beautiful room. Great central location
Great hotel in a fantastic position. Staff were very good and breakfast was excellent which was eaten in the main hotel.Trieste is a beautiful city.
Awesome
Food was amazing. The indoor pool is a work of art and a must see. Very clean rooms and the staff service was friendly and helpful.
Beautiful Hotel
Stayed at this hotel for one night on a two week European adventure. The staff were extremely friendly. The room was clean and comfortable and typical size by European standards. The hotel had an amazing breakfast that came complimentary with our stay. It had a variety of quality goods served with precision and care. The hotel is on Unity Square, a two minute walk to the water and within five minutes from both Grand Canal and Old Town. Could not have asked for anything more from this hotel.
Super boutique hotel, worth a try!!
The hotel is on edge of the pictured square on the stock photo. My room was in block across the street. The main hotel is simply beautiful and very period with richly polished floors and antique furniture. Rooms are small but functionally. Modern rooms with wooden flooring. The beds are so comfortable and l had a quiet peaceful night. The block is next to the main bars and there is a lot of external noise as one would expect from a city centre location. You can't hear any of this noise but there is no view. The hotel is in a central location. You can park 200 yards away in a covered car park at 15€. Amazing breakfast. A great hotel
New addition to a beautiful hotel downtown.
Recently renovated hotel with beautiful rooms and outstanding service!
Beautiful hotel great location Beautiful hotel g
Hotel was one block from main square and one block from cruise ship dock. Beautiful modern room. No shower, just large tub with shower attachment. Bed was pretty hard, common for europe, but great place to stay.
Close to main attractions and Saint Marks plaza.
Near the plaza of Saint Marks, the mains attraction of Veneza. Very busy street, with lots of tourists, there are a very good restaurant just out and a liquor store on the corner. The hotel doesn't have elevator in the annex, so you have to climb the stair.
Lovely room
Only had one night, but the room and hotel seemed top notch. It was our final night in Italy and by far the best hotel we had on the trip. Breakfast was fantastic, and we felt bad we couldn't stay longer and enjoy it. Location was great. The separation between bathroom and bedroom leaves little to the imagination so perhaps not the best place for a first trip between couples :)
Wonderful find, a real treat
Stayed one night in the duchi vis a via. Wonderfully appointed room, great bed, crisp, quality linens and a bath tub! Shame we spent so little time in the room, but Trieste is a must see and this hotel couldn't be better situated. The hotel is an easy walk from the bus or train stations if, like us, you arrive by public transport. Wonderful bars and cafes just a few yards away. Breakfast was a treat; an outdoor table in Harry's Bar with wonderful attentive service. A real cappuccino as part of an inclusive breakfast was a bonus. The staff were the real asset for this hotel, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Overall, would recommend and would visit again. Thank you.
Serendipity Italian style ...
This hotel was utterly charming, located city center. It reminded me of Paris or Vienna in miniature. The service was superb; the Champagne breakfast (included). The visit was due to a stopover point in a cruise and on our way back to Venice, which was a most pleasant train trip back to Venice via Eurostar.
Outstanding
The hotel was superb, and the staff was friendly and gracious. Trieste itself and the surrounding area was more beautiful than we had anticipated.
Beautiful - City Centre
The hotel is in an ideal location in the middle of Trieste right next to the pier. The Hotel was nice, quiet, clean. The staff were wonderful & accommodating.
Excellent hotel
Great hotel overall. Staff attentiveness was outstanding, clean hotel, and the bed was nice. Spacious room and bathroom, and good value.
Fantastic hotel adjacent to the main hotel.
Great modern space in the center of he city with the parent hotel directly across the street. Loved that the main hotel was old school Austrian but the side we stayed in was modern and uncluttered. Harry's Bar was great, the breakfast was the loveliest of the 6 cities we went to in Italy. Can't wait to go back when we go to Zurich or Germany next time, perfect for a weekend trip.
Very close to square, literally steps away!
Very close to square, literally only steps away. You eat breakfast at Harry's bar on the main square, which is a real treat. Rooms were of a fair size not enormous but in no way cramped.
Central location and modern finish
Stayed here with friends and it provided an excellent retreat. Room was attractive and clean and we'll provisioned. Reception is in a different building which is a little more dated but does a good breakfast. Would stay again.
Amazing for the money
Very helpful staff as we had a few passport issues (long story!). Lovely location and lovely town. Very nice surroundings, lacked car parking but we were on motorbikes so not such as issue.
Central, comfortable, helpful staff
One night stay, room modern and comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly
very noisy area and rooms not soundproof, nice clean modern rooms
Right center of Trieste
Excellent
Newly renovated situated on piazza italia .
Great location beautiful hotel. Had a great nights sleep on the memory foam mattress. Polished wood floors windows and beautiful furnishings I was very impressed rate included breakfast which is situated facing piazza italia highly recommend
Great place
This is a modern annex to the older hotel across the street. Everything was in great condition.
excellent
Everything and everyone are outstanding.
Perfect location
What a superb hotel..... Very helpful and friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms even if a little on the small size. Great location. One small gripe would be that being as the floor in the corridor is wooden, you was able to here very clearly the comings and goings of other guests, especially the ladies with high heels on! Over all, thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Great hotel for a Trieste getaway
Loved the breakfast in the Grand Hotel Duchi (part of the same hotel), Harrys Bar is terrific for dinner, and the illy cafe machine in the room are all great additions to staying here.
Classic
Excellent in all respects
My wife and I can not express how much we loved our stay at the hotel and the location, the square is beautiful at night to just sit and relax, everything we needed and wanted to experience was right there, between the boat rides, to eating at the cafe, words do not do it justice unless you have been there to enjoy everything we did. The hotel staff was excellent, helped us with anything we needed, very clean rooms. Thank you so much for making our vacation one of the best we ever had.
Perfect location
Perfect hotel in every way. Would love to go back!
BREAKFAST OVERLOOKING PIAZZA UNITA D'ITALIA
The vis a vis is the Annex of the Hotel Duchi d'Aosta. You check in/out, have breakfast and can use the facilities (lounges, free internet computer terminal) in the main hotel. The Annex is just across the street - in windy November Trieste that may mean coat and hat to go to breakfast. In the Annex there is an art gallery on the ground floor and some seats, but no other common facility. Friendly staff from reception showed me to my room. All rooms are on the 1st floor. The building is old but has been substantially modernised. My double room for single occupancy room was not large but did not feel cramped either, though I think two people might have got in each other's way. The room was decorated in a modern style, so a clothes rail rather than a wardrobe, and a small desk just as you come in. Comfortable bed, Sky television, Illy espresso capsule machine, safe, minibar. quiet. Bathroom was modest sized but did not feel cramped for one, large shower tray, well-equipped, nice toiletries, clean. Breakfast was a large good buffet in a pleasant old-fashioned room overlooking the large historic square Unita d'Italia with friendly staff. All very pleasant - I was happy with my choice.
Trieste: Hotel Duchi Vis a Vis
Very convenient location, clean, new facilities (recent remodelation). Fair for the price.
Beliggenhet midt i Smørøyet!
Five stars stay
Hotel Vis a Vis is at the top of the hotels we have stayed at. The staff is very welcoming and top service minded. the location is beautiful and centrally located. The hotel's bistro Harry's and their fantastic Harry's Piccolo - 2 Michelin stars are worth an unmatched visit. We will definitely come again. Torneremo sicuramente.
Tutto perfetto. Personale gentile.
Nachts lautes Brummen im Haus hörbar.
mixed feelings
The hotel doesn't have it´s own reception. Seamingly it belongs to Grand hotel Duchi dÁosta. A big part of the lobby is changed to an office. Feels a bit strange to not know if it´s an office or an hotel. The rooms were clean and nice though. It mention le Corbusier furniture in the lobby. There is two chairs mixed with a lot of other different style.
Posizione eccellente personale gentilissimo e disponibilissimo dalla reception all’assistenza durante la permanenza . Tutto perfetto
