This hotel boasts a fantastic location, just steps away from numerous restaurants and directly across the street from the beach. This was definitely a major plus! Our room was also a good size, providing ample space to relax. However, there were some areas where the hotel fell short of expectations. We were disappointed to find no refrigerator or coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Additionally, parking was not available on-site, which proved to be inconvenient. The breakfast left much to be desired; the selection was limited and repetitive each day. While the daytime receptionist was friendly and welcoming to new guests, she could be quite curt and unhelpful when we asked questions. A little more warmth and helpfulness would go a long way in improving the overall guest experience. This hotel has the potential to be a real gem due to its prime location. However, addressing the issues with amenities, breakfast, and customer service would significantly elevate the experience for future guests.
Clean, convenient location, ocean front room with balcony. Restaurant closed for the season.
Value for money Great service Charming staff Excellent location
Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff. The view from our 4th floor room was spectacular ! Such a wonderful city to visit, about a 45 min taxi from Nice Airport, and well worth the money. The train station is kind of a long walk, especially hauling luggage. The breakfast buffet was just okay.
We were wrongly placed in someone elses room, relocated to another room had a smaller balcony. Breakfast option very minimalistic, supermarket nearby so not bad for options. Very quiet town, interior is very poor, definitely needs updating, no coffee or tea machine. The view is amazing but this hotel needs lot of revamp.
The hotel was centrally located to all the amenities such as restaurants, boutique shops, and the beach. Parking was not convenient but the beach made up for it. The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating.
Went there for my birthday weekend with total of 4 people they gave me such a small room and smelled like it was 100 years old dust and hair in the bathroom when I told the people with me they said they were upgraded to a room with the terrace but super small that they couldn’t barely fit the 2 of them in the terrace. The view was pretty but also smelled bad and dust piled in the fans by the ceiling I mention that because I’m allergic to dust and I couldn’t breath for my entire birthday. We tried to cancel and go to another hotel and they said we would lose our money they wouldn’t refund it so they gave us 4 free drinks at the bar. When we went to get the free drinks they were just for sodas and juices. I said wow that’s just amazing after everything is has happened here I can’t even have an aperol spritzer - bartender said the bar and hotel are 2 different things I said iam not having anything at this place she realized what a horrible time we were having there said we could order anything… this place it’s a joke
Location was perfect and amazing view from our balcony! Breakfast was very basic. Personally me did not like the omelet. Over all our stay was fantastic!
Traditional French hotel on sea front in Menton and central to town but quiet location. Walkable from the station and close to the Old Town too. Comfortable rooms with sea view. Breakfast and evening meals were satisfactory.
Great location, clean, recently refurbished room. Short walk to old town.
Lovely looking hotel in the heart of Menton
Very nice belle epoque hotel overlooking the sea. Good location right in the centre of Menton, right by the beach and close to the old town.
Beautiful hotel & in a fantastic location for exploring Menton & the surrounding areas. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Nice selection of breakfast items & the dining area is great if you’d just like to enjoy a drink on the patio. We stayed in a sea view room with a balcony & this was just perfect to sit and take in the views in the morning & evening.
Hotel in great central location , good breakfast and friendly staff.
Excellent location Great dinner with half board Excellent staff
Hôtel was once very grand.
The hotel is a bit tired. In need of a freshen up. The breakfast is very good. The bed was very comfortable and the terrace overlooking the sea was fantastic. Unfortunately our room smelt of sewers on arrival. Once we used the bathroom the smell went but it was very unpleasant. I suspect the drainage hasn’t got a non return valve fitted. There were some large pieces of white broken crockery on our terrace on arrival. I cleared it up myself as I couldn’t be bothered calling reception. However, For €250 a night it’s not very good. Menton is a beautiful destination. Too busy in August. Lots of restaurants and shops. May/June and September are more favourable for a visit. Highly recommended to visit. Don’t visit Ventigmilia. It’s full of immigrants and police as it’s a border town and feels very unsafe. I was pick-pocketed on the train in Nice but I stopped the girl getting away with my wallet. Another guy had his money stolen. Be careful!
Beautiful Menton
The hotel had a beautiful view of the Sea and the room was very nice. The breakfast was also very good. I wish that the room had also had a mini/ fridge and a coffee maker. There was no way to keep drinks cold nor make a cup of coffee. The front desk advised the hotel had three kettles and they were first come first served.
Chose this hotel based on location and air conditioning. Room was no cooler than outside.
Highly recommended
One week terrace room. Brilliant Team very helpful lovely breakfast, relaxing gardens, amazing views. Enjoyable subtle entertainment.
Such a lovely experience. Genuinely friendly. Lovely, clean and modern room. Great breakfast. Loved it.
We had a great stay here! The location is ideal, right on the beach and a close walk to the heart of old town. The beach in front of the hotel was beautiful and not crowded, the staff was helpful, and the breakfast was decent. The room was small but nicely appointed— it was very clean and bright with a stunning view of the ocean. Overall, it met all of our needs!
Interior sgowing it's age Hotel front desk agents poor
Room had patio with lounge chairs with ocean view.
The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially Sandra on Reception. Fantastic location, can walk everywhere easily and great train route for other town, villages and beaches. Breakfast is great and will keep you full until late afternoon. We will definitely return!
Very comfortable bed. Large room and awesome view. Breakfast choices with included b/fast were limited, croissants were soft and a bit stale.
The location of the hotel is very good but breakfast is very average.
enjoy the Mediterranee and a great stay
very large and comfortable room, we enjoyed having a separate restroom and a bathroom, the view was magic. Breakfast was fabulous
Right on the beach.. easy walking to dinning, and other places i wanted to see.. decent breakfast Our room was excellent.. And had thar great old feel to it..
Menton Gem
Great Location with a gorgeous garden area with amazing balcony views and a lovely breakfast.
Great location
Ideal location and nice size room. Balcony isn’t very big, but great views, very expensive for what we got. The hotel needs updating in places and the bathroom/toilet room wasn’t very clean. The weather was quite hot when we arrived (9th May), there was no air conditioning, so asked at reception and was advised it wasn’t air conditioning weather yet, so the system was still on heat. Breakfast was nice, plenty of choice and the staff are lovely.
It was close to the beach and a supermarket was nearby. Daily housekeeping. Very large room
Good location, great staff.
Excellent hotel
We have stayed here a few times. It has a good feel to it.
1920,s feel to the hotel
I have been here a few times. It has a really good feel to it. Yes, it could do with some new carpets and decoration, but it is clean and tidy and has a 1920,s feet to it. I will stay there again in the future
Hôtel sympathique avec du charme. Bonne salle à manger et site extraordinaire
The views! Amazing.
While we loved the outdoor large patio and the charm of the hotel you can tell it was a bit neglected which was sad as you can see in its past days it was most likely extremely charming and gorgeous. There was a tissue on the floor by the checkin and I saw a staff member kick it out of the way instead of just pick it up. With a little more lively staff, a deep clean and some more fun and exciting drink areas this hotel would be lovely. We are both 51 and this definitely felt like everyone here was in their 80s. I think with just minimal effort it could be quite a jewel of a hotel.
Location was fantastic !
Very French hotel in great location
The Westminster is a little tired in places but our balcony/sea-view room was spacious with a fabulous view - room 409. The carpet was in need of a good clean but otherwise a great base. Would have preferred comfy chairs in either the room or on the balcony but appreciate the latter would be in full sun all day. The road is very noisy outside. Don’t be put off by the city-view rooms on the upper floors 4-6 as these have a great view of the alps over the terracotta tiles. End-September is prefect weather for us. Half hoard option is good value but basic French cuisine. The location is so close to sea front bars and restaurants or those in the pedestrianised old town, there is plenty of other options - mainly pizza and pasta…l
Perfect location nearly on the beach!
In front of the beach, so very convenient! Now if room on opposite to beach, the street is noisy with window open. Good breakfast, restaurant 100 yard on the left on beach. Possible to park motorcycles in the front yard, thx
Had a great room, with views overlooking the sea, shower s & restaurants all within walking distance . Would recommend and hope to return soon
Great waterfront and central location for enjoying the city without a car. Walkable to the train station.
The sea view is just breathtaking
We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Westminster. The room was a great size and the sea view was just breathtaking. The room was wonderfully clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly. It has an old world charm with all the modern comforts. It is situated right on the beach and on the edge of the old town - so a perfect location. We had a wonderful 3 nights in Menton and I would highly recommend the Royal Westminster.
Lovely old building a few metres from the beach and in town. Garden area was a quiet and shady place to relax in the heat of the day. Room was comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were satisfactory. A no frills hotel in a great location.
Menton
Beautiful area , wonderful breakfast!
Very nice hotel in the old town just on the beach front raw with large quiet garden.
Beautiful hotel with an amazing location. Close to the beach, shops, and local transport. Staff are so friendly and helpful.
Perfect Location , Nice room ( the highest category) with large balcony... close parking 14 Euro /day . good breakfast
Traveling with my daughter, we loved this hotel, the room is beautiful and big, facing the ocean. Great location, steps away from the beach. Lots of restaurants , food markets and old town around. Friendly staff . Recommend
Although the rooms are extremely small but we still enjoyed the water view terrace looking the turquoise water was everything. If you have large luggage it’s a bit hard to unpack around the apartment though. The staff super friendly, we had breakfast and dinner somehow included so we ate in the gardens every day. The area is where exactly you wanna be to see menton and you’re 20 min away from Monte Carlo without paying huge dollars to stay in Monte Carlo. The drive in fact is breathtaking. Parking is literally 2 min walking away from the hotel for 15€ a night
Beautiful view from the balcony. Room was cleaned daily. Old hotel that needs renovation, especially in the common areas. Same poor breakfast every day (7 days) . No privacy between the balconies. English language is a problem even for the reception staff and most of them need customer and hospitality training.
This place was beautiful. Large room. Right near beach and casino. Dinning options close by. Balcony was perfect for viewing sea. AC didn’t not work well.
Everything was great about this property. We had a total of three rooms, which we're all overall great. The A/C wasn't the greatest, but the sea breeze was lovely. I can only imagine how hot it would be in summer months (I went in June).. overall we loved the hotel, the breakfasts we're great, the proximity to the Sea, and so close to everything Menton had to offer. A from us!!
I paid for a delux room with sea view balcony. Upon check in was given a room with windows you had to stand up to look out. When I complained and showed them on their website the room category I booked, they said that the balcony is just in the picture but not guaranteed. I showed them had a pic of the room I was given in a cheaper room category but they insisted it was “different”. Don’t get tricked!!
We found the seaside view room and hotel to be just what we were looking for during our stay in Menton. The main level grounds, garden setting and reception area were pleasant places to be in. We found the rooms themselves to be clean and purposeful, if a little dated in decor. Some of the aspects in the room seemed like they could use an upgrade. Overall, a pleasurable and enjoyable stay.
Lovely property in a great location. Nice spacious room with a comfortable bed. The hotel is in a lovely location close to local shops and right on the seafront. Enjoyed our stay made all the more enjoyable with friendly staff.
Nicely preserved old hotel. Several of Menton's old hotels have been turned into apartment blocks, so it's nice that the Royal Westminster is still functioning, and the gardens and entrances are very nice. Bit modernised in places, but all hotels are these days. It's obviously gone a bit downmarket since iits heyday before WW1, but this is true of Menton and many other seaside resorts as a whole. Vacances Bleues have done a good job of keeping it going, and its a very good ***-star. Good bar, free breakfast, very near beach, Jean Cocteau museums, etc. Reception staff are very helpful.
good value
Good people nice place
Wow! The location was awesome as was everything about this property. Didn't realize the full American style breakfast was included which was especially nice with lots of coffee options! Ate on patio facing beach...
Really liked it
I liked this hotel. It is under construction, but my sea-view room with a balcony made up for it……. Plus it is in a fabulous location. I would surely stay here again. Also, be sure to eat at Cotes Sud. It is a wonderful restaurant.
Great location
Disappointing stay
Lots of potential due to location but poor service and services available, and the building is in need of a lot of work. Multiple major failures in our stay including, rude reception staff, varying room quality (we had two of very different standards despite being the same booking type), poor breakfast quality, closed off facilities including the balcony to our room. There was just a limited interest in ensuring your needs were catered for.
Spacious rooms, great view, great breakfast Go online and pay for parking at Saint-Roch Is a better deal I paid €84 for a week
Very disappointing hotel.. too old needs some major renovation.. the only positive thing is its convenient location. Overall disappointing experience there..
It is a nice and clean hotel. However, upon checking in, both of the front desk staff seemed annoyed we were there. They were rude and bothered. We requested a second key and with the rolling of the eyes, we got the impression it was a problem.
It was lovely and Adelaide and the entire reception team were so helpful and friendly. Not only was the hotel exactly as pictured but it gave the perfect welcoming hub youd want for a trip to south of France. Thank you to all
A lovely stay, great staff and a lovely clean hotel. Central for restaurants.
Lovely stay and helpful staff.
I would like to commend the reception staff who were so helpful at all times Lack of parking is always a disadvantage
Great hotel
Really nice, comfortable hotel. Great location. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend
Needs a lot of help
Hotel is in need of major renovations. Structure has great potential but common areas and building itself are badly maintained. Only positives are the rooms, which have been renovated and the location, close to center of town and across from the beach. Such a shame.
Nice hotel, near the beach, the old town and a grocery store. I recommend it.
Location was great!!
Location
Good location by the sea front, but street parking, good breakfast , friendly staff.
Room was on 2nd floor with city view, it was very noisy bec of proximity to road which made it difficult to sleep. Very early in the morning, there might have been street cleaning which woke us up. Not very restful sleep.
Beautiful views across the beach from breakfast room s
Location is fantastic, needs a bit of décor, friendly staff and will be better when busier to give a better atmosphere.
Great view of the sea as its on the promenade and its also close to the centre of Menton.
Hotel is clean and in a great location with some old world charm. Backs onto the waterfront so great for a stroll by the ocean.
Great view from spacious room with balcony, only one lift, carpet in room was very dirty and stained, breakfast buffet was disappointing, restaruant was closed until next year!
Nice place, well situated. Great breakfast and staff. More for olded people I think but very good overall/
THIS IS A GREAT LOCATION AND HOTEL FOR THE PRICE.RIGHT ON THE WATER.LOCATION IS PERFECT AND CLOSE TO CENTER.STAF IS GREAT.I STRONGLY RECOMMEND .
Good 3 Star hotel
Hotel location is central for beach and shops, our room was clean and comfortable with a walk in shower. There are limited TV channels and no tea making facilities in rooms. Breakfast was fine with choices to suit most tastes. Nice garden area to sit in at front of hotel. Would return if in area again.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, enjoyed the stay there!
good place to stay
the hotel is simple old stylish but it works pretty fine. the room is a bit small but definitely clean. breakfast is very good. in general it is a good place to stay.
I liked it a lot and I will certainly return soon.
the room we had was lovely , best in the property , plenty of space, and we felt very special. although just across from the sea, i did miss not having a swimming pool the bar needed more entertainment or music playing, when they did have a piano player it was lovely to sit there, otherwise uninviting, we did not stop long to enjoy a drink or two.
The sea view was amazing, we had a terrace which was perfect. It's in a great location. Staff were very helpful and friendly would definitely recommended it.
Nice big room, really good choice at breakfast. The only bad thing I could say was the corridor hall was rather tatty so not much wrong really.
We like that the property was very clean, staff friendly, only down side was the long waiting for the elevator.
liked everything Have been a couple of times and will be returning
Excellent location staff very pleasant would highly recommend
The view to the beach was great! Nice breakfast but would like to see more vegan options.
Although a dated hotel the room had been modified. Poor spread for breakfast considering the size of the hotel with limited choice. Extortionate prices for hotel drinks. I know it’s the Riviera but €7 a beer for guests when you can step outside the door and buy one cheaper.
It wasn’t a good experience because by the time we arrive at the hotel they told us that they don’t have room available and its nearly mid night. The night reception was arrogant and not very helpful considering that Im worried where to stay that night.
Yes I would stay again but.....
Old fashioned hotel, but I liked it. Mainly elder french guests. I would stay again, but if you stay..... bring a travel kettle for your room. Be prepared for a slow lift. If you want an English breakfast, don’t bother. The worst sausages I have ever tasted. Air con is very poor here. All that said, if I stay again I will know what to bring and avoid . Ps, no parking at the hotel or nearby.
Nice hotel but they do not provide conditioner, only one iron for the entire hotel that was dirty and old, and very poor wifi connection.

Large, high ceiling room overlooking the lovely garden with the sea beyond. French windows with wrought-iron balustrades. The roar of the surf. Excellent breakfast.
