Hotel in the jungle with a rustic charm. Room was good with a comfortable bed. Lots of ants in the room initially but I suppose being in the jungle that’s to be expected! Restaurant food was plentiful and delicious. We stayed three nights and we didn’t get bored as there was a good varied choice -buffet or the a la cart menu-. Pool towels available and the attendant keeps the pool side nice a clean, especially with his endless battle with cleaning fallen leaves up. Bar staff were very friendly but service was a little slow/relaxed with long waits for drinks being served at times. We had an excellent stay here it’s within walking distance to Sigiriya Rock which we did late afternoon. I would recommend doing Pidurangala rock for sunrise get a tuk tuk there (hotel will organise if you ask) as it’s extremely dark and a good walk for that time in the morning. We also hired a driver for the day who took us to Polonnaruwa temple ruins and Minneriya National Park where we hired a vehicle for the elephant safari (long, hot day but well worth it) Dambulla cave temples are also a must do. We found Hotel Sigiriya a good choice location wise for doing everything we wanted to do in the area. Thank you
This was out 4th 4* hotel stay in Sri Lanka, the views are spectacular and the majority of the staff also great. However the rooms weren’t 4* at all and in need of an update and deep clean.
Excellent hotel with lovely pool and bar and friendly staff and service. Breakfast is amazing!
The view from the hotel bar and pool area is to die for. Hotel staff (especially reception) are happy in their jobs and helpful. Great breakfast and evening buffets on offer with delicious food. They need a better cocktail maker - all froth and little liquid, although you could definitely taste the alcohol. Gorgeous pool area but needs more sunbeds. Sadly, the room let our stay down - for the money we paid would have expected better attention to detail. Chipped paint, rusty chrome and damaged mirror in bathroom, stained lamp shade, safe not working (it was fixed). Minor but would cost the hotel kuch to put right. The the price per night was by far the dearest we paid whilst touring Sri Lanka. Overall though a great stay and we would revisit
Fantastic
Brilliant hotel, fantastic views and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall a fantastic stay
Didn't have much time to enjoy the property but for the short time I enjoyed service , food and amenities.
It was an relaxing experience
Nice location and a clean place to stay. But if you are planning on walking to the ancient city of Sigiriya it’s a 30 min walk from the hotel. Not a 1 min walk as advertised. The service was good but the food was at best average, specially dinner “À la carte”. Breakfast buffet had a lot of variety which was good but the food was average. Good for a short stay.
We were a family of 5 and stayed 2 nights at this hotel; Pros: Lovely spa, we all had a really relaxing Balinese massage with Maha (she is from Bali and her contract with this hotel ends in December). Be sure to ask for Maha if you have a massage here. Lovely grounds Close to the lions Rock Excellent view of the Lions Rock from the pool Lovely pool and attentive pool guy Helpful staff (apart from the staff at the buffet breakfast) Cons; Tired rooms We are vegan and vegetarian and this is the most disappointing buffet breakfast we have ever had in Asia. The taste of food was average, labelling of food was incorrect, no fresh juice provided in a country that produces ample fresh fruits. No non dairy alternative milk offered for tea or coffee. Tables not set up for dining half of the time. Staff in the restaurant did not care for our requests. I have stayed in hotels where chefs have gone out of their way to cater for vegan and vegetarian diets. If you are vegan or vegetarian don’t bother eating here. One of our rooms had a leak in the bathroom which they were aware of 4 days prior to our arrival however they did not inform us about this. We had to stay in this room on our first night as they were fully booked. We were transferred to another room on the following day and it was a nice room. I would have appreciated being informed of the bathroom issue in advance giving me a choice to book elsewhere. Instead I had to put up with a leaking bathroom once checked in.
We only stayed for 1 night but would definitely recommend the Hotel Sigiriya and would stay here again should the opportunity present itself. Nice, clean and spacious rooms. The staff, especially at the restaurant (we had a bbq dinner buffet and breakfast buffet the next morning) were amazing. So friendly, courteous and helpful. The pool and pool views of the rock were great too!
Lovely place
This was a beautiful hotel with an amazing view of Sigiriya Rock from the pool. The bar and pool service was excellent, however we do note the restaurant left a little bit to be desired. We wish we had of explored some of the local eateries during our stay.
Lovely hotel and nice staff. We didn’t receive any toiletries for our washroom which was a bit annoying and the lady at the front desk told us she couldn’t break a large bill when we first arrived. Otherwise, hotel is nice, breakfast has a lot of options and variety and is tasty. Would recommend if you’re looking for a sanctuary/relaxation vibe.
Great location and facility. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the bellhop Unambuwa, went over and above for us. Wonderful stay
The best feature is the view of Sigiriya Rock from the pool. The rooms are a decent size and have good shower pressure. There is also a hairdryer and mirror outside of the bathroom area, handy, as one can finish getting ready while the other showers. On the downside, not all plug sockets worked and the window didn’t close properly. Also, we were told that the evening meal was buffet only. At 4500 lkr, it's quite expensive. We later found out there was an al a carte menu. If it hadn't been for the heavy rain though, we would have walked to one of the nearby restaurants. Not a bad place overalll for one night
Worth a stay!
A lovely setting close to Lions Rock, great view of the rock from the pool. You can walk to the rock but takes approx 30mins. The room itself was lovely, and staff were excellent. The food was delicious! Only downside was that we thought the pool wasn’t the cleanest, especially the children’s pool - a lot of debris from surrounding trees, and you could tell that the pool hadn’t been cleaned properly in a while (slippery floor from suncream etc.)
We had a beautiful stay in the Hotel! The receptionist was very kind and provided us with the room early! Nice restaurant with kind waiter, especially Mr Hashan! We will definitely come back!
Wonderful
Lovely hotel in a great location
The location in front of Lion Rock was unique. The hotel was very close to many activities in the area. The grounds were kept very clean and the staff was friendly and welcoming.
Staff always said hello with a smile
Wish we had stayed longer …,,
A lovely tranquil place in a beautiful setting. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and did everything with a smile. Can’t fault anything - just book it!
This is a nice little hotel if you are making Sigiriya your base. The staff were incredibly nice (I’m a younger-looking, white American woman traveling solo). The breakfast was good and the dinner buffet was fine though I wish I’d gone into town more for dinner. There’s not much happening in for lunch, so definitely go into town if you are still around. The hotel arranged a driver for a day trip to Kandy (he wasn’t great but the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic was worth it) and a keep and driver to see elephants in Eco Park. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. The water temp in the shower was erratic. It would be okay for 20 seconds or so, then scalding, then good again. To be more eco friendly, have glass bottles of shampoo etc instead of mini plastic and have a water filter instead of bottled water. Overall, a great base for my first trip to Sri Lanka.
Beautiful location and very kind staff , very close to Sigiriya rock
Very good
Excellent service at the front desk especially from Shani. Initially disappointed that there was no separate veg menu but the executive chef Bernard and his team went above and beyond to cater for our dietary requirements.
Very Nice Hotel - Great food!
Wonderful Hotel. Well located, lovely grounds. The staff are fantastic - helpful, friendly, and nice. The food was really outstanding. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, but not stunning, but fully outfitted. Wi-Fi was kind of slow, but it can be like that in smaller cities in Sri Lanka.
Beefbarbeque excellent
Very nice barbeque, not cheap but excellent. After weeks with curries I loved the fantastic beef
The location is great, very close to the Lion's Rock. The pool is good, it has a great view. The rooms are OK. They have been updated at some point. The restaurant buffet is not great, the food is mediocre at best.
Very nice hotel, amazing pool, reataurant and service
A Great Stay!
We loved our stay at Hotel Sigiriya - despite the rain. The communal area is a great space and we spent many hours there sheltering from the downpours. The staff were very friendly and looked after us. The breakfast buffet was great and there was a good selection of food. The room was plenty big enough for three adults. We loved the view of Sigiriya Rock. I would recommend this hotel!
Great Hotel
It was one of the best hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka.
We had a great one night stay! The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great - very good pressure and hot water! The pool area was so relaxing and chill to hang out in the evening. The breakfast was phenomenal! We highly recommend staying here.
Really nice property in a great location to see the sights. Good buffet breakfast, pool is nice and staff are helpful and friendly
a towel was not in the room so I had trouble to ask twice.
Great view in excellent location
This hotel has gorgeous views from the pool and lovely, tropical gardens. The room was comfortable and quiet, nothing fancy, but very nice. The hotel is also in a convenient location - you can easily walk to Sigiriya Rock from there, which is great. We also enjoyed having lunch by the pool and enjoying the view of the Rock as well as the monkeys in the trees. The restaurant was also fine, not amazing, but generally good.
Just avergae. Very Overpriced food and drinks
Was not really impressed. I would have been more annoyed if I had paid the full (peak season) price. Even at low season prices, it felt overpriced for the facilities and location. It's not very close to the village. So at night its pitch dark and maybe a little dangerous for walking (cars etc coming past or walking alone), so need to get a tuk tuk ideally. Apart from the included breakfast, we didnt eat at the hotel. The dinner buffet was 2500LKR per person, which is quite crazy for Sri Lanka. Not too far towards the village, you can get good food for 400lkr pp, or less. Also the drinks are expensive. 800 for a beer. Its too much for a hotel that is not close to 4 or 5 star. The pool is smaller than the pictures show (one is a shallow kids pool) and it's too small of an pool area (beds etc) for the amount of guests at the hotel. The view of the rock is the only appeal for me, but the rest of the hotel and rooms are just average and overpriced. No plug sockets next to the bed, or really many plug sockets at all in the room. So its hard to charge your electronics. Bathroom is small and shower is not very good. Polite and friendly staff. I think there is better value elsewhere, in a better spot, with cheaper food and beverages
Conveniently located near Sigiriya. Very nice view of the rock from the hotel.
perfect location
Absolutely fantastic hotel! Our room was spacious with a huge queen bed, patio doors opening up onto a little terrace, a fully stocked bathroom with massive powerful shower, a safe, A/C and a fan, as well as a mini-fridge. Free water bottles were provided in the room. We didn’t have time to take part in any of the hotel activities, but they offered guided nature walks as well as a spa. The view from the pool has got to best one of the best views of Sigiriyia from any of the hotels – the photos on tripadvisor don’t do it any justice! The hotel also set up a telescope in the reception area so you can have a look through there and watch everyone on top of the rock! We went early September so the hotel was pretty quiet; there aren’t many places nearby to eat so we ate both nights at the hotels; on the first night they put on a buffet that had a really great mix of European food and Sri Lankan staples, for both starters, main and pudding. It was a great opportunity to try some Sri Lankan food without being overwhelmed by the many options! The second night the hotel was emptier than the first so we were served from an A La Carte menu on tables set up around the pool. Was a very nice setting and the menu still offered a good degree of variety. Both nights weren’t ‘cheap’ by Sri Lankan standards, but still much better value for money than compared to UK prices. Side note – if you have a private driver, this hotel offers them free accommodation on site
Hotel with an amazing view
Amazing place very relaxing massage was good food was good. Staff friendly and helpful.
Great view from the pool side. Friendly staffs with good information provided. Near to Sigiriya rock to access
Really pleasant staff and excellent atmosphere.good facilities .
View form the pool is amazing, staff are super friendly and helpful
It was friendly, relaxing, great location to Lion’s rock
Excellent hotel in great position. Pool area is great and breakfast is superb
the staff are not togetther and no wake up calls. Slow. they need a manager
Very good. Had a really nice massage as well. Dinner buffet and breakfast are great as well, and all staff amazing
Staff were jaded and harried, didn't feel warm or welcoming.
View of the rock, gives good photo opportunity from the pool
Will come back again :)
Fantastic hotel, food can be improved but considering the location, not a big deal. The exchange rate are worse than the airport, I suggest to exchange your money before !
The massage was excellent, privacy was great. Food was good ...... Prices was great and soap and shampoo not the greatest. Towels was not my desire.
Location to Sigiriya Rock and hotel staff were excellent. Highly tecommend
Amazing location. Nice dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff
The food was fantastic and restaurant staff amazing thankyou
Great spot to view and climb the rock. The pool was lovely and gardens beautifully maintained.the rooms were good size and bathrooms modern clean and very comfortable. There was a great bar here and the public sitting areas well maintained.
Staying here was the highlight of our short trip. It looks absolutey stunning and the food was the best we experienced in sri lanka with plenty of options. Definitely a must stay if your in sigirya
Amazing hotel and location. Friendly staff. Rooms need work - very old room with stains of mold all around and sewer smell.
This property is 3 pretending to be 4 with prices of 5. Due to excellent location to Sigiriya Rock their drinks and food prices is almost what we pay in Australia. They also had the audacity to charge 900 rupees( $7aud) for rose after we just paid $35AUD pp for buffet dinner. I thought rose is free given the valentine day. Do yourself a favour if you stay here and eat at local restaurants 5-10 minutes walk away from the hotel.
We stayed for a single night. The room was great. Breathtaking views of Sigiriya (Lion rock), the ancient rock fortress, from the hotel. The hotel also had a great breakfast buffet.
The perfect place to sit still for a while
We had booked to stay here for only one night, but upon seeing the property and its magnificent location, we wish we had planned to stay longer here. The rooms have a really lovely feel about them, the service was great, and you cannot beat the pool and bar area. I highly recommend Hotel Sigiriya.
The hotel itself is a little rundown, but the location is spectacular, the rooms are big and the food is quite good. Our bathroom didn't smell very nice so I'm not sure about the cleanliness, although we didn't see any obvious cause of the smell. The bedroom was very large and was comfortable enough. There is a nice pool, albeit they could do with a separate kids pool so that it could be a bit more relaxing - the view up to Sigiriya Rock is simply gorgeous. The restaurant was good with a nice range of tasty local curries - however they ran out of things too quickly and didn't replace them. Overall it was a good stay, but nothing amazing.
The hotel is in an excellent location with a great pool. The staff are very helpful. The rooms we were given were rather tired and smelled of damp. They did offer to change the rooms, however. i chose to leave and they refunded our second night which is paid for.
Beautifully located in the jungle, this hotel is a good spot to visit the main attractions around. Sigiriya rock is only a 10 mins drive (or 25 mins walk). The two national parks are less than one hour away (elephant safari). Breakfast is excellent and dinner buffet is good. The view to the rock is amazing. The two negative points were that the room felt a bit damp due to the weather and staff at reception were not nice and unhelpful. Overall I would still recommend it.
Great place for family and couples.
This place is amazing. The Sigiriya rock view was amazing. The food is fabulous. This place is great for a family break.
The hotel has a lovely setting with well kept grounds and pool. Our room was disappointing though. Small room with tiny bathroom. Room door and bathroom door were difficult to open/jammed the toilet cistern ran water continuously (informed reception but no body came to fix). It is over priced.
Great Hotel
Delicious food, lovely rooms, great swimming pool, everything was perfect!
This hotel is a great place to spend some time whilst relaxing in Sigiriya. The hotel facilties are well looked after with a great pool and a view of the rock. The hotel staff are friendly and you can't fault them. The breakfat buffet caters to all tastes and for dinner you can choose between the BBQ buffet or the bar menu. It is central to all attractions including Dambulla, Sigiriya rock and Pollonuwara. I would highly recommend.
Good hotel in sigiriya, good view of the rock. Restaurant is really good, Mr. Murugesh was fantastic, he went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Really good service overall!
A lovely oasis in the remote area of Sigiriya
Booked based on location/proximity to Sigiriya & after saw the pic with the view of Lion rock from their pool , I was sold .And they certainly delivered on both expectations awesomely .Great Buffet breakfast included , & dinner buffet at good prices - a la carte & buffet , extra special touch was a board explaining all the Sri Lankan delicacies alongside a row of those dishes on the buffet & different for breakfast & dinner . Expected downside with being so close to the rock & remote that hailing bypass transport or via apps was harder but can be booked via the hotel .Free Wifi with good signal throughout venue .Great resort style layout & feel ...a lovely oasis in the remote area of Sigiriya
Vera and Bozo
Hotel is located in the beautiful place with terrace and pool view on the lion's rock.Staff is very friendly and attentive valet Tharanga us is a wonderful man every day surprised us with some details like device figure of an elephant or berry of towels and bed lay petals natural flovers.Choise food for breakfast and dinner was very big.Every food is delicious and taste.Everybody strongly recommend this hotel.
Helpful, Friendly Staff
The staff were excellent throughout the hotel. We had a slight issue with our original room & needed a bit of maintenance. When we reported the issue with the reception staff, we were moved to another room, which was in perfect condition. Food was excellent & caters for all tastes. Thank You.
Perfect hotel near Sigiriya Rock
Everything was high level. The room is clean. The restaurant is also nice. The view is fantastic. You definitely can spend a comfortable time.
Great food and views
Fabulous place to stay. Great views of Sigiriya and excellent food
Great hotel due to its position and staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great hotel
Great hotel. We would definitely recommend. We were both poorly with bad colds so spent more time in hotel/room than planned - the hotel was great. We had no complaints - great room, pool, bar etc. The only area that could be improved is service from reception staff, it was ok just not as good as elsewhere.
Loved our stay here
This place is unique and very special . The staff are fantastic and the breakfast was superb. I can not fault this place at all .
Brillaint location
My boyfriend and I stayed here for just the night and I must say it's one of the best hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. The staff were very kind and helpful and the room itself was brilliantly clean and tidy. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, there was a great view of Lions rock from the pool/bar area and you can even spot the hotel atop the rock itself. Would definitely come here again. Make sure to try the BBQ in the evening.. so romantic, I would definitely recommend it.
Great stay
My favourite hotel of the holiday.
I loved this hotel ! Truly my favourite in 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. It was the perfect size - not too big, not too small. Close to several places on the must see list. Beautiful restaurant with great food - egg hoppers with dal for breakfast - just yummy. Great choice of vegetarian curries - beetroot, cashew for example. There were monkeys in the grounds - a pain for the staff no doubt, but we loved it. In the evening, the lights were turned down low and the garden lit up - a lovely ambience. The pool was lovely - big enough and deep enough to swim properly and with a great view. Kiddies pool too. Had an ayurvedic massage at the spa, which was very relaxing after a few days on the go. There were hammocks to chill out in. Our driver said that his accommodation was also nice (it isn't always)
Good for a night.
Great pool and lounging area but we felt the room could have done with a paint and the drains smelt.
Very nice place, they also give free accommodation to our driver.
Great hotel right by Sigriya
Really friendly staff, amazing view of Sigiriya from the pool and very good food. Couldn’t recommend this place more.
Nice hotel in great location
Nice view. Friendly helpful staff. Room clean and spacious food pleasant. Great pool too.
Fabulous hotel in just the right place to explore
Brilliant base to explore Sigiriya rock, Anuradappura, Pollunarawa, Dambulla. Fabulous pool area with the most amazing view. Nice, clean room. Really lovely restaurant and the best massage I've ever had at the spa. Nothing not to love.
Lovely hotel but be careful if 4 of you
The hotel has an amazing pool area with a great view of the rock, it is a lovely place to chill after one of the many day trips that we went on. The food is great and the standard of room was excellent. However, a warning: We are a family of 4 and booked for 2 adults and 2 children. On arrival in our room we found only 3 single beds, and they asked us to pay extra for a fourth bed to be added. We refused to pay this as we had clearly booked for 4 people, and they had happily checked us in as 4 without mentioning any extra charge. They then claimed that no rooms had 4 beds, they had no spare beds, and that guests with more than one child were expected to share single beds with their children! We dug our heels in and eventually got them to bring an extra bed to the room, but it was a very unpleasant experience after a long journey.
Functional hotel for staying in the Sigiriya area. Not bad but nothing stood out.
Fab location - close to the rock and good transport organised by the hotel
Sigiriya rock view covered by over grown trees when you get into the pool.
Amazing location and view
Very welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for you. Rooms were comfortable with good air conditioning. Drinks are pricey in comparison to local rates. We had the buffet dinner which was very good and offered a huge range of food. Taxi fares are extortionate - we used the taxi service at the art gallery for exactly half the price.
Amazing place.
We arrived early and were invited to sit by the pool looking up at the Sigiriya rock. The view is quite stunning. Hot towels and a cooling drink were provided while we waited a short time for our room to be completed. The hotel is situated a short walk outside of the village; a pleasant stroll in the daytime but probably best avoided when dark. It is situated in a very natural setting with wildlife in abundunce. We spotted a mongoose, land monitors, playful monkeys (jumping around on the roofs) and birds a plenty. The staff are friendly, professional and eager to please. The buffet amongst the best we have ever experienced, with a wide choice available at both breakfast and dinner. A la carte is also available if you don't feel that you can take full advantage of the copious fare available. Rooms were large and comfortable. All in all an amazing place.
Best view in Sigiriya
Check in was smooth and easy while sitting looking at the Rock Fortress. We had a small issue with singles beds in our room but the staff quickly remedied this. Kitchen and bar staff were always friendly and attentive. We tried both ala crate and the buffet and all three of us agree the buffet is great. Location of this property is the best in Sigiriya and centrally located if you’re using the hotel as a home base. Highly recommend.
Resort Hotel with View of Sigiriya Rock Fortress
Comfortable, spacious rooms in a resort style setting. The large, well appointed hotel patio faces the pool with a stunning view of Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Great location to view and explore the rock
Ours was a one night stay to explore and climb Sigiriya rock and also to visit the nearby Minneriya National Park where we had a wonderful ‘Jeep safari’ experience at late afternoon to see elephants in their natural habitat. Would highly recommend this activity. Although the queue of vehicles bustles and crawls to access the park, it eventually sorts itself out and once into the sanctuary the abundance of elephants we saw was worth it. However it is worth checking - we visited in the dry season in December, it probably varies depending on the time of year. The hotel is located close to the Sigiriya rock as seen in the photos and we found it more than adequate for the time of our stay. The room was large, clean and staff friendly and obliging. Evening meal - a la carte - was slow and rather disappointing. A buffet was available which may have been a better choice. Overall a well located hotel.
Dining with Monkeys and perfect view of Lions Rock
Great hotel, wild monkeys live in the area occasionally sleeping on the roof and always cheekily trying to steal some breakfast. Perfect view of the Lions Rock. Yummy buffet food for breakfast and dinner
Great base for Sigiriya
The hotel is very good - our room was large and clean. The only disappointment is that I requested a double and got a twin room. Pool is the main attraction - it's great! If you don't want to eat exclusively at the hotel restaurant you will need to take a tuk tuk or similar to the local village. Overall it's a great spot to base yourself for exploring Sigiriya and surrounding attractions.
I'm coming back!
Delightful ambience. The hotel is luxurious and the food is delicious. Wish we had more time to savour the hotel. we arrived late that night but revelled in the ambience of the hotel. The welcome drink was superb - exotic and refreshing. The room was lovely, spacious and had good amenities. Unfortunately, it was raining and we were near a garden so whenever we opened the door, we had insects in the room. But don't be put off by that. It was surely due to the downpour. The breakfast buffet was to-die-for.
Lovely oasis
Awesome hotel and lovely room. Would highly recommend this hotel
Great Service
Very good. Great service
Great Hotel close to Sigiriya Rock.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are good to very good. The pool is wonderful and the grounds well kept. Beware the guides and venders and Tuc tuc drivers at Sigiriya Rock. They will overcharge dramatically if allowed. You need to be good at bargaining in Sri Lanka. (Which I am not but learning quick). Agree on price in advance. Ask hotel manager or staff for help. Don't be afraid to use the bus. I found it fun to ride and easy to catch and a super bargain.
the view was amazing! the staff is very kind. the room is not so new, but, clean.

Great location. Good breakfast.
