First, they had an amazing breakfast spread! If you're going to be exploring Rome all day a hearty breakfast is important and they did not disappoint. The area was quiet and very safe we were often out walking late. We loved the location- everything seemed to be a 20 minute brisk walk away (or you could take public transportation). The room was clean, bright, warm (we were in November) but also had A/C. They provided lots of toiletries. We stayed for 5 nights and noticed many other patrons stayed here for multiple nights as well. Would recommend this place for sure!
Close to everything, great breakfast, staff, area, and hotel!
Camillo was so helpful to our entire party of 6. He went beyond to help me in a stressful situation. The staff were great, and the breakfast was wonderful. Very quaint. Loved staying here and the area was convenient.
All was fine
Nice European Hotel
Nice European hotel centrally located to Vatican and the Collesuem (30 min. walking to each. Staff was helpful with arranging transportation and friendly. Only two block from Campo de' Foiro plaza. A lot of restaurants and shopping available.
September 2023 visit
Hotel very convenient and walkable to many sites. Staff was superb and very pleasant. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning. The room we booked was a bit small but knew that goung in. I would stay here again.
Lovely 4 day break for myself and my partner. It was a lovely, friendly hotel with some seating around the lobby. We used the roof terrace and thoroughky enjoyed it up there. Beds were firm and pillows were lovely and firm too. Some good gluten free options at breakfast and they were all presealed *bread, cakes, cereal* ehich was reassuring for a coeliac. We will go back again :)
Fantastic location close to restaurants and a short walk from some of the big sights in Rome. The breakfast options were good. Staff were friendly and the hotel was very clean.
Professional and super kind services. I appreciate Irene’s fantastic service all around and other stuff there are wonderful. Water pressure was at time not optimal, but the breakfast is great, their cappuccino is great. We took a bit larger room and we are happy we did that. The location is also great, close to trastevere and Piazza Navona. We are happy with our stay!
Great hosts amazing breakfast beautiful city!
It is really a very nice little hotel, the rooms are unique. I would stay there again. Great location
Very good hotel in a great location. We have stayed here before. But, this time, the AC was really bad. Temp in the room never got below 24 C. I know it was hot in Rome, but not that hot. We asked the staff about it, but they didn't (or couldn't) do anything. It was nice in the lobby, but I don't think they wanted us to sleep there. Really too bad because we like the hotel.
Horrible Experience
Horrible Experience. The air conditioning didn't work on a hot summer day of our arrival for a 2-day pre-paid stay and staff were non-responsive. We called the desk to ask for help and the clerk said he'd come as soon as he finished with a guest. 90 minutes later he hadn't come and we called and he said he couldn't come as he was the only staff on site and would come in an hour. 45 minutes later, we called back, and were told that clerk had left the site. The new clerk came to the room, acknowledged the heat was "unbearable" but couldn't fix the air conditioner. We asked to move to a different room and were told there was no other room. We explained we would check out in the morning and asked for a refund for the 2nd night's stay due needing to leave because of this situation, and were told this made sense, but that the owner needed to authorize it and they couldn't be reached until the following day. Not able to wait to hear because of concern we wouldn't find another place, we reserved another place. We checked out and, ultimately, the owner refused to refund the second night's stay. We texted with Hotels.com during the experience and they were sympathetic, but said that because it was a pre-paid stay, they were dependent on the owner's authorization, and without this wouldn't provide a refund. Beyond this, the rooms were disappointing: cheap mattress, a plastic desk chair that was more like a lawn chair, cheap plastic light fixtures, and a shower drain that backed up.
Perfect location
The hotel is very quaint. The room was comfortable and the complimentary breakfast terrific. The hotel will store your luggage if you arrive before check in.
This is a very nice boutique hotel with nice rooms and a great staff. Everyone was friendly and so, so helpful. The location is a five minute walk to Campo di Fiori market place and some (many) wonderful restaurants. It is a short walk across the Ponte Sisto bridge to some great restaurants in Trastevere. Close to Piazza Navona, Pantheon.
The Hotel itself was lovely and in a great location. What made it special was the staff. They couldnt do enough to help.
I found the hotel to be quite nice and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful, especially the persons at the front desk. The room, though compact, was comfortable, clean and well maintained. The breakfast arrangements, though not luxurious, were adequate. Overall level of cleanliness and comfort was excellent. The location is very good -- not too far from many of the attractions, but in a relatively quiet and undisturbed locality.
great location very good value for money
super location super food for breakfast
Great location with a wonderful staff
Very charming hotel. Very well kept and clean. The breakfast was wonderful with many choices. The front staff was friendly and informative. The location couldn't have been better. We walked to everything.
Staff was great and very helpful
Great place to stay! Recommend! Rooms are on the smaller side.
Staff were accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was decent but not too much variety.
Loved the location, very close to a lot of the attractions, but situated on a quiet little street, The hotel is not large or grand but small, quirky and clean. There was complimentary continental breakfast each morning, with plenty to choose from. Our room was a standard room, with fresh towels each day, well stocked fridge, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer ect.
Great hotel in one of the most beautiful areas of
Fantastic position, excellent charme
The trip was wonderful. The location of the hotel was perfect for us, walking and easy to get everywhere.
Great location. Clean and safe. Staff extremely helpful.
Relaxed and comfortable stay.
Very pleased stay. Room small but comfortable. Perhaps the room was a little overheated. But all good, and windows opened with cool air. Very quiet too. Excellent service. Pleasant personnel. place you would always come back to. Service to airport, though costs 50 euro, well worth it, and driver very punctual and helpful.
Worn and stained mattress. Generally dark and dingy.
Excellent
Staff very helpful and polite
It was a great location we walked most places but it was also close to bus stops and taxi area. Staff was friendly and they had a good breakfast.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Friendly staff. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was REALLY good!! Much better than others we had in Italy. Also, the hotel’s location is great! The only things to improve were the beds and pillows that are a bit too hard and some noise coming from the hallway and floor upstairs.
Truly the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on.
Shocked that this could possibly be rated a 4 star hotel. The room was tiny, bedding was of the absolute lowest quality, the AC didn’t work. This is a 2.5 star hotel. The location is ok but we still took cabs to get places, despite being big walkers. The breakfast was the only part of our stat that was close to four stars. Shame on Expedia for marketing this hotel as four stars and charging the rate they did. Totally lost faith in booking on Expedia.
The room was lovely but the heater/ air conditioner never shut down and stopped no matter what temperature we put it on. It made it rather difficult to sleep with the constant noise. I did report the problem to the front desk when we checked out.
Good location. Nice breakfast
A very good buffet breakfast is available. The hotel is close to the river so some pleasant walks to be had. Close by is a very vibrant Piazza, which has a daily market that disappears at the end of the day, so you can enjoy one of the many restaurants there. We had little room for suitcases (2) as the room is smaller than any shown in the advertising photos. Our showerhead woudlnt stay up, making it a challenge to wash. Our travel companions had a broken fridge, tv and no bathroom light. It took a few days for all of that to be fixed.
Hotel Residenza
Staff was amazing. The first day I felt like family. The front desk was so accommodating. Most of my interaction was with a staff called Irene. She was great. There was nothing she wouldn't help us with when asked. Staff in the breakfast hall was friendly and also accommodating. The day we left, it was before breakfast started. Simona, who was waitressing the day before said to me, don't worry, I'm here at 6:30 am. You will have breakfast before you leave today. The street the hotel was located on was very quiet, yet centrally located. When I go to Rome again, I will be staying at the Hotel Residenza Farnese.
Hotel Residenza in Farnese
We were welcomed as we were the only one there. The staff was superb. They helped us with all our needs which were directional needs in Rome. The front desk Irene was fabulous. It was my birthday day during my stay. She realized it because of my date on my passport. She left a bottle of wine for both of us. She was so kind in every way. Our breakfast hostess, Simona was fantastic as well. We had to leave early Tuesday morning for our flight. She made sure that we had breakfast waiting for us. Went out of her way. The gentleman we had for breakfast (do't remember his name) had ice ready for my fiance. He tore his acl Ice was ready for him every afternoon.
Great location! very good breakfast!
No electric kettle in the room :-( and the standard room is small! The stuff is very helpful (especially the guy who accepted us for check-in) they all very nice and the location is great. The hotel is beautifully maintained!
great location
location was great, staff was very helpful in making transportation arrangements
Great location
Great location, lively if you wanted it, but quiet enough if you didn't, staff were good and friendly, TV useless unless you speak italian and no tea and coffeee making facillities but overall very enjoyable
Lovely hotel with an excellent location.
A small but perfectly formed unique hotel with a location that enabled you to reach all the major landmarks by foot. Close to a myriad of little restaurants and boutique style shops, this hotel was an excellent choice. And - the breakfasts were really good too.
A boutique hotel in a perfect location
The hotel is pleasant and quiet, even though it is situated in a central location, in the wonderful historic area of Campo di Fiori etc. The design of the hotel is an eclectic mix of styles and eras, but it somehow works. The room was large and basic, but had everything that is needed. The only complaint is that the air conditioning system did not work. Better check if you come here during the summer.
Birdie
Great location, very central. Attractions and piazzas containing places to eat are within walking distance. The only problem is that our room faced an alley and workers gathered there to work and talk. A bit loud unless you are an early riser as we are.
Quiet, convenient location and spotless
We had a lovely stay, the hotel is near the Campo di Fiori where there is a market and the square is surrounded by many places to eat, and it is very close to the river and if you cross the river you are in a lively area full of bars and restaurants, but being by the French Embassy it is in a quiet residential location which suited us. Piazza Navona is within easy reach and everywhere on the tourist map is just about walkable. The staff were lovely and helpful and all spoke excellent English.
Great Hotel in Great Location
Residenza Farnese was perfect for our stay in Rome. The room smelled a bit like air freshener when we walked in, and we had to air it out for a couple of hours, but other than that we had a pleasant experience. It was two blocks from Campo de Fiori and just minutes away from other sites.
THIEVES
This hotel is a thief. At the end of my stay in August 2016, I asked the concierge to send 4 postcards to Australia for me. He said he would do so for 10 euros. I handed him over the cash and continued my holiday in Europe. It is now late November and the postcards never arrived. I called the hotel to follow up and complain and they advised they would look into it and call me back. I never heard anything from them. I am appalled. Not only will my family never receive the postcards I put a lot of time into writing, but the concierge pocketed my money. The fact that I have not heard back since my complaint is disgraceful.
I would stay at this hotel again, especially because the location is great for walking to the major sites. Despite its proximity to major piazzas it was quite at night. The staff is friendly and facilities are very good, but it is "strictly forbidden" to bring any outside food or beverage into the hotel. There is a bar but the hours are very limited and it serves only beverages.
Great location and very nice staff
We enjoyed our stay very much- wonderful location and the staff was very friendly, spoke good English and provided all of the assistance we needed. The room was clean and sufficient, not overly fancy of course.
great location
Easy walk to landmarks in Rome. Wonderful breakfast. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
central to the old part of the city
what a fab city four days was not enough time to see it all
Well located. Very pleasant stay. Recommend
Near piazza. Important sights and restaurants nearby.
Two day stay - good without being outstanding.
Lovely hotel and good breakfast
The only disappointment was the discomfort of the bed... Not terrible, just not good.
Beautiful hotel with roof terrace
We had a wonderful week's stay here, the hotel staff were so helpful and friendly, and the facilities were spot on. A really varied breakfast and a roof terrace with great views. The location is very central and cannot be bettered. However, the hotel is bounded by quiet streets so it feels tranquil.
Great location, quick walk to major sights
Our room was very clean and the staff was always helpful.
Residenza farnese
the hotell is perfectly situated for exploration ,on foot, of all that central Rome has to offer. . The hotel staff could not be more helpful and whilst individual room comfort may be said to be on the modest side without any views of the Piazza; the common rooms are well furnished and provide for any traveller's needs with daily newspapers and a particularly generous breakfast buffet.
Good price, helpful staff and nice location
Rooms are small but clean and quiet. Breakfast was included in the price and was excellent. Staff was friendly & helpful. Location was central to main attractions. All major attractions visited were within 30 min. walk. Two other couples who travelled with us also liked it.
Perfect!
I took my daughter age 15 and a Latin buff to Rome for her first visit. Perfect hotel and Italian experience. We will definitely return.
Clean, friendly, & perfect location
The Residenza Farnese was perfect - as English speakers, the staff was easy to communicate with, very friendly & genuinely interested in us having a good time. All major attractions were a 5-10 minute walk. Food was close-by as well as entertainment. The rooms were clean and the bathroom very accessible. Very happy to have stayed here our first night after a long flight. Will be returning next year!
Only location is good, otherwise it's over priced
Hotel reception is not so helpful, unexpected fees, city tax fees per person and per night, you have to give insurance deposit of 20€ just to use the safety box. Drinks from outside are not allowed but I took them anyway. You have to leave the keys when you leave the hotel. And the rooms are different from the pictures
Great location and staff
Welcoming and very helpful staff. The rooms were smallish in size and the air had poor odor. Other than that the rooms and hotel were clean. The breakfast is average offering hot (coffee, tea) & cold (Water, fruit juice) beverages, bread, eggs, sandwiches, cereal, yoghurt and milk. Location is secluded yet walkable from Piazza Navona and other central attractions (including the Vatican).
Love the location
The hotel is in a great location, close to everything yet quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the small size, but it was clean and pretty. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom nicely updated. The view for our room was not great, but that was not important to us. I would stay here again.
Solo traveler in rome
Stayed in a single room. Room very quiet and clean. Walking distance from most of the tourist attractions. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Worst 4 star hotel stay ever!
This was possibly the worst 4 star hotel stay ever. I chose this hotel for it's location and for what seemed to be a lovely period hotel. I had booked a superior double room June 14 to 17, 2016. What a rude awakening. The hotel staff was sullen and unprofessional. They initially put us in room 406 which, while it had a nice view, was a spartan room, the furniture was beat up and the bed was a rattling, uncomfortable metal bed. The pillows were like slabs of marble. We were woken up by the cleaning staff at 6:30 AM the next day as the cleaning room station was adjacent to our room. The following day, we requested a room change and were switched to room 409 which was a much smaller room with respect to room 406. Although the bathroom was updated, there were cracks in the bathroom wall and the water pressure was so poor due to the shower head being completely calcified and to being on the 4th floor. The curtains were snagged and the lampshades badly stained. The walls of the room are paper thin and we could hear everything - conversations, cleaners, etc. The hotel staff manning the breakfast room were highly unprofessional. They had loud disco music on the TV in the room next to the breakfast room; I had to ask them to turn music down! While the choice of food was fairly varied, there was a choice of two jams kiwi and bitter orange in two open bowls. This hotel has serious management and maintenance issues - and should be demoted to a 2 Star hotel. A total rip off!
Location supreme
Our stay put us steps away from what Rome had to offer in food, history and culture. We were close to everything making most explorations an easy safe stroll.
Convenient and quiet location
All staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for walking to pretty much everything.
Lovely spot. Shortish walk from main spots
Gorgeous old building. Comfy room. Bit of a view window. Good brekky.
Authentic Italian Experience
Two minutes from Piazza Campo del' Fiori with its daily market; two minutes from the river (Tevere), then across Siste Ponte to Trastevere. In my view, the atmospheric location of this hotel makes its a great choice, whatever small niggles one may have with the hotel itself. We had considered Hotel Quirinale. Having heard the crazy Italian traffic noise as we passed by it, however, we were glad we'd chosen R in F with its more set back position. Buffet breakfast was fine, but if you're looking for fine dining or 65 different types of bread, then go elsewhere. Staff: great. I would have liked a slightly bigger room, but it's possible that I booked a standard, and maybe I should have gone for a superior? There are some very spacious rooms. Lovely massive roof terrace which opens on May 1st. Overall, a great, full-on Italian experience. Mi è piaciuto molto.
Good but a bit small and loud
I may be a bit critical since my expectations are based on american experiences. This hotel was tidy, pretty, staff was nice and very accomodating. They loaned us a couple converters which was very kind. Our room was small. Perhaps by American standards. Bed was also small for 2 average sized adults, we should've reserved a larger bed so maybe that's my fault. The bathroom/shower was very nice and new and the bed was very comfortable despite its size. My biggest complaint is the amount of street noise in the middle of the night. There were Italian military and late night people making all kinds of extremely loud noise that disturbed us multiple times both nights during our stay. The location was perfect though, so I guess by staying in a busy, happening area means late night noise on a Fri/Sat. Good hotel but I'd probably take my chances and try another spot next time. We paid $209 nt.
Nice location!
This hotel is a few blocks away from some great plazas with lots of restaurants and markets. It was perfect for a home base as I only walked around Rome (15-20 minute walk to the Pantheon), wanted a safe and quiet place to stay, and also a place where I could walk a short distance for food. The hotel was very clean, the bathroom looked new, and the Wifi was great.
Excellent
Excellent, very close to 10 minutes for visit recommended.
Good location quite comfortable
Great bed slightly below average furnishings. Great heating didn't need air conditioning. Rooftop deck was closed for the winter however the weather was warm and sunny. Disappointing
Met needs
Its very pretty and i felt entirely safe there. The room they show isnt the room you get and i was a bit annoyed about that, but the breakfast is pretty and delicious and the staff is mainly on it. I would stay again but id go for a bigger room.
Nice Hotel in a great location.
The hotel was very good value, excellent location with an area of good restaurants and shops. Easy walk to all Rome attractions. The room was comfortable, clean and very warm in the cold season. The breakfast was a good continental standard. Staff were helpful, with a small reception and bar area. Internet worked well and was free. Only complaint was the TV was small and limited English channels.
Perfectly located to put Rome at your fingertips
This is a great little hotel in an ideal location to explore Rome. My room was always clean and the staff were helpful. Excellent breakfast as well.
ROME BREAK
Hotel in close proximity to major sights and all were within walking distance. Lots of restaurants nearby.
Great small hotel!!!
Nice breakfast, comfortable, quaint rooms, great staff, unbeatable location, a great deal in Rome
Very nice small hotel
Though some rooms tend to be on the small size they are very efficient, nice decor, and great amenities, the sleepers, minibar, and towel warmer are plush amenities. The location can not be better and the staff is great. Definitely a good feel hotel to spend some Roman holiday.
Great location!!!
The Residenza is greatly located behind the Farrnese palace quietand quaint with great amenities, friendly and helpful staff, nice cold Italian breakfast.
Perfect location in Rome
Great hotel located near Campo di Fiori so easy access to many places of interest. Quiet street and easy to find. Very friendly and helpful staff and they made the effort to welcome us and help out with any questions.
Excellent location
This hotel is within walking distance to all the main sights of central Rome, yet is in a relatively quiet area. The rooms are small, as per the usual European design when in old section of a city. The breakfast was excellent, and had a great selection of hot and cold items, again in the European style. There is a lovely rooftop terrace, although it was a little neglected since we were there late in the season.
Farnese
Totally overrated for a 4* hotel, rather 3*. Overpriced for value. Tiny room for singles (2*). Terrible furniture and decoration. Old and stuffy. But great location. Very poorly sound-proofed.
Great location. Fantastic staff.
I would stay here again. The location is right in the heart of everything and the staff were great.
The conditions of the rooms are not the best.
We had to complain 3 times about a rare smell in our room to get a new one. We slept 2 nights with this problem and the people at the front desk were not even concern to help us with this.
Handy for all the sites
Friendly staff helped to make our stay better. The room was comfortable and a fair size. Plenty of storage space to hang clothes. Aircon was good and not too noisy.
Comfortable stay
Nice hotel, friendly staff, comfortable stay
Great location.
Great location. Excellent breakfast buffet. I would stay there again.
Great location in a charming setting.
The Residenza is ideally located for a tourist.Convenient to great restaurants and tourist sites with the delightful fruit band vegetable market close at hand-Piazza Farnese, great night activities at Campo del Fiore. The hotel staff is helpful and the rooms are kept clean. The breakfast is not very exciting but the cappuccinos abound. The rooms are small and the views unspectacular. For the outstanding location everything else is quite ok especially given the reasonable price.
It's all about location location!!!!
The hotel itself was decent, clean room and bathroom. The room we had was on a small side and the bed was one of those firm spring mattress but it was clean. They provide decent selection for breakfast and the staff were very friendly. The best bit about the hotel is the location. It's on the quiet corner, yet you are only 30 seconds away from campo de fiore. We pretty much walk everywhere with collessuem only 20 mins gentle walk away. Great place for a short city break.
Great hotel close to best grest restaurants
Great location extremely friendly helpful staff. Close enough to walk to all main sites within 15 - 20 minutes. Great places to eat and shop travestere and campo Di Fiori. 10 euros in cab to termini station. To go anywhere in Italy.
Room was a bit antiquated and shower could have been cleaner, but staff and location made up for it!
Great central hotel
This hotel was in a great central location, walking distance to all the main sites. It only took us 5-10 min to walk to the Pantheon and Palazza Navrona, and 30 min walk to the Vatican and Colosseum. There were plenty of local restaurants (but only one bar) so you have to make it clear if you only want a drink. Our hotel room was a medium size with en-suite. It was clean but the mini fridge did not work properly, after reporting this three times we gave up! The general decor of the hotel has an eclectic feel utilising old furniture, plates and decoration throughout. Breakfast was great with a selection of cold meats, cheeses, cereals, yoghurt, coffee and teas. Drinks in the hotel are cheaper than elsewhere (except the supermarkets) but the bar does not open long enough in the evenings (7:30 - 9:00) so we only used it just before we went out, which was a shame. If we return to Rome we would use this hotel again
The best hotel in Firenza
Perfect hotel to stay for comfort, friendliness and location. Loved this hotel. Wish we had stayed here for the entire time we were in Italy. Management and workers were so kind it felt like coming home to family at the end of the day. Breakfasts were incredible. Location, location, location. Easy walks, perfect restaurants, perfect piazza. I want to go back again and again.
Very nice and cozy hotel next to a beautiful plaza
Staff was awesome. Very helpful speak English and facilities are nice. Rome is very hot barely any A/C bring a fan. But overall amazing experience.
Fantastic location and hotel and friendly staff. Would return.
Great location, but underwhelming and overpriced
On the plus side, this hotel is in a terrific location, close to all the main sites. The breakfast buffet is quite nice (though you need to get there early if you like your eggs hot), and there is a lift in the hotel. The wi-fi connection didn't work in my room when I first got there, but they fixed it the next day and it then worked pretty well. (Can't stream video or Skype, but at least you can access email and the web.) The shower head was also broken when I got there, but once they fixed it, the shower was fine. However, some pretty major problems here, especially given the high rates they expect you to pay in the summer! Like in much of Europe, the rooms are tiny and the beds are quite hard. I was there during a July heatwave, and though there is air conditioning unit in the room, it blew straight down on the bed, so since I didn't want to get sick, I couldn't leave it on at night. Worst of all, it stank. Literally, the room smelled like dead fish. I went searching for the source - looking for someone's leftover lunch under the bed, looking to see if there was a restaurant beneath the room - but no! Turns out (the maid admitted) it was the air conditioning unit. I mean, this was a smell which hit you like a ton of bricks when you walked into the room! I don't know if the same would be true of the heater in the winter, but if you're going to book here, I'd say make sure you bring a big can of air freshener.
Small but Nice
The hotel was very comfortable overall and quite well located to get around Rome to all of the key attractions on foot. Our room was small and had no view, but was cozy and nicely done with a comfortable and well appointed bed and decent bathroom. We were there for 4 nights and asked for a larger room after the first night and our request was immediately granted. Our larger room was still on the small side. It was very hot in Rome and the air conditioning was marginally adequate, meaning we were warm at times.
Nice location, old fashion
We stayed two nights in this hotel during our family vacation in Italy. The location is excellent, walking distance to all major attractions in Rome. People were very friendly and service was excellent. The breakfest was outstanding probably best breakfast that we had during our vacation. However, the hotel is old and requires some up-to-date work. I think the owner likes the old-retro style and tries to keep it as is. If you like retro, old fashioned rooms, this hotel will be excellent for you. I personally like more modern style and felt somehow un-comfortable with my grandma room style. At the end of the day, Rome is old and the hotel maybe fits the city style.

It was a lovely hotel and in prime location yet quiet . Staff were fantastic and very helpful with Taxis and luggage on the days we needed them stored. They were firendly and happy to help with any questions. The breakfast was amazing
