This is a delightful hotel especially for the price! Good views across to the Royal Palace, unusual decor and very nice staff.

Nothing Special - A glorified Hostal.

We live in Spain for context. The hotel build is nice and the people, but there are some very disappointing things for a hotel that is expensive. The Hotels.Com description says a Bar. There is NO bar. It has been closed for Two years and it now a sad corner with 20 bottles on a wall. The pillows are horrible. Long hard tubes. bring your own Pillow as there are no other types available and reception says that everyone complains and the owners do nothing (very Spanish attitude). There is NO hotel room service. They use a third party company that you call and order like uber eats. We called a few times and no one answered so we gave up. To Sum up, it should be 65 EU a night.!! Better options for the money elsewhere.

The bathroom pipes need some product to stop smelling. The rest was great. The hotel is situated in a great location

Great location

We transferred from another hotel as we were looking for a good breakfast option. As we were on honeymoon we were able to be upgraded and enjoyed a room to the top floor. The room was spacious and convenient as we got a great view of the palace and my wife had injured her ankle. The public transport service were super convenient as there are stops in front of the hotel and opposite the road. Would come back again as the location was convenient to the city centre.

Great hotel though there are some minor issues

Service was excellent, the door staff especially were very friendly and helpful and they deserve the highest praise. Location was excellent and rooms were very comfortable and quiet at night - no disruptions whatsoever. The rooms were clean, though the bedding had some very minor stains (they’re very inconspicuous) and there was a small cockroach in one of the bathrooms (no other signs of insects though, may just be an unfortunate coincidence and not a sign of any major cleanliness issues). The breakfast was quite good though a bit more variety would be welcome.

Too close to everything, we did not need any taxi. Super well located, and the staff so kind and helpful. Buffet was excellent and they gave us a small breakfast for early flight nd booked a taxi for us. From Madrid Airport it took us around 30' drive and a flat taxi $33.00 rate.

We stayed for 10 nights and loved the location. We found the hotel very comfortable. The room service food was good, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Rooms to small.and pets friendly and I didn’t know and I have bad allergies.

The place was clean and walkable to many sites. However the room was about 80degrees F when it was 65 degrees F outside. They told us to just open the window. We wouldn’t stay here again.

Good location,, very close to the grand via and metro station. There are option of restaurants and small shops nearby. Very friendly and attentive staff , room was comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious . The only thing in our room the air conditioning wasn’t working. The breakfast ( buffet style ) was excellent .

I travel with my wife and seven month old son. Everyone was very welcoming and the place was spotless.

Good location, struggling amenities

The hotel was in a great location and staff were professional and well presented, above what I might expect for a 3 star hotel. The shower struggled to keep a consistent temperature and experienced delay in changing temp. The throw pillows had hair left on them and the main pillows were difficult to sleep on - very soft and sunk. Breakfast was ok, offered a variety of hot, cold and pastries. For €14 it was fine but I wouldn’t have paid more.

Complimentary Treats

We had a very special stay as we were given a complimentary room upgrade to a junior suite and a bottle of cava on ice. It may be because it is a VIP property on Hotels.com and it was a lovely treat. The rooms were spacious, stylish and comfortable. My husband is gluten intolerant and we were given gf bread when we asked at breakfast.

Great location just a a block and half from Plaza de España.

Excellent location within walking distance of the more significant sights such as the Royal Palace and Prado museum.

Great location. Very nice hotel. CLEAN and confortable. Staff were very friendly. Check in was fast. . “Shout out” to the doorman who was very kind and helpful with us.

The hotel is very good only the bathroom needs handles to hold the hand towel.

We really enjoyed our stay with friendly staff that was available 24/7!

Breakfast could be so much better. Room cleaning questionable as my cup of tea and other ‘to be disposed of’ items were still in my room on day 2. Please change your pillows too!

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is in a good location close to the royal palace and may shops and restaurants. I felt safe in the area at all times. The staff was friendly and we had no issues. The room was nice and slightly larger than other rooms I have stayed in in Europe. Overall it was clean, comfortable, and convenient.

Hotel was amazing, would recommend to anyone. I traveled with a child was able to heat up milk everyday no issues. Staff was very friendly and able to meet all of our needs at any time.

The bed sheets weren’t and pillows weren’t as clean as one would like.

Perfect property near where we wanted to be.

Very close to metro and access is to Gran Via. Airport access via metro as well and located in center of Madrid next to one of the Royal Palaces.

Nice hotel in close proximity to royal place and train station. Room was nice and clean with king size bed and view of palace. Breakfast was superb with great selection. Only negative for hotel was inconsistent water temperature in shower.

This hotel is located just minutes away from the Royal Palace. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The one thing I found very inconvenient was the awful smell that came from the bathroom’s bidet. We had to cover it with a towel.

Great value for money. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. If your room is at the front of the building, you'll have a view of the palace. There are a few metro stations within a ten minute walk and Gran Via is less than a 15 minute walk. There didnt seem to be a hotel bar and the roof terrace is more of a roof corridor but other than that we had a really nice stay here.

They have the AC setup and you can't adjust the temperature you like. Very disappointed!!! I made the claim and they made me think it was issued but it wasn't.

Overall this hotel was conveniently located for walking to the palace & Prado and many shops and restaurants. Breakfast buffet had a good selection and the food serving staff were friendly, polite, helpful & quick to clean & replenish the buffet. Check in staff were not agreeable when I asked about a possible upgrade via Gold membership with Expedia. It was explained to me that in fact they did have rooms available, however they would not be upgrading me because the hotel would lose money if he was to give me an upgrade and that Expedia advertises possible upgrades and it causes problems. After this short and awkward discussion we left for our room, as I was not looking for a hand out, only a possible upgrade at this ‘VIP Expedia status hotel’. Everything else in the hotel was fine.

The location is within a few minutes walk from Gran Via. The room of decent size.

The hotel is very close to the Royal Palace of Madrid and La Plaza de España (5mins walk). We stayed there for 3 nights and our family truly enjoyed the stay. The hotel staff are very helpful and kind. Front desk staff speak perfect English. The triple beds room is much larger than we expected, but it needs upgrades in the near future. In general, I highly recommend this property.

About a 5min walk to Gran Via. Spacious room (family room), breakfast was on point.. i would probably choose this hotel next time, no regrets…

Our 7th floor room looked directly across to the Royal Palace, which is a short walk away. Amazing views at sunset! For those with kids, a large playground is on the way to the Palace and was used from morning to late in the evening. Small, friendly restaurants are just down the street, near the escalator that allows easy access to local streets at a higher level. Two Metro stations are within a 10-15 minute walk and a Metro card allows easy access to other areas.

Excellent room! Easy check in. Doorman Thomas is an excellent addition to your staff as he is very helpful and very nice personality. Front desk people may need a little bit more personality, seems to be very uptight.

Very good hotel! We enjoyed our stay here at Principe Pio hotel! Good location close to transport, and the rooms were very clean. Staff very accommodating! Just a few notes of feedback: No tissues in rooms, which made it hard as I came down with a cold whilst in Madrid. Finding the write shower temp was extremely hard, went from hot to cold very quick. Very nice location expected laundry facilities Spain rarely has these just 24 hr laundry service. Hotel tried to accommodate by finding me an apartment but no washer there so stayed . They assisted in offering other laundry services but Sunday closed and Monday too late . Gave me an address to laundry facility. They tried to be very accomodating Laundry mat

Staff is friendly and kind. They accommodated my family and I when our flight was delayed by a day. This hotel is family friendly and has delicious breakfast buffet.

The room was small, and only one chair, but everything was clean and the beds were great, and I enjoyed the large bath towel. And, the all the staff were kind and attentive, especially the doorman.

I loved the fact that it was easy walking distance to the metro and rail stations which was very handy. Also, there are two supermarkets nearby and a few good places to grab some food

Great, Location, Great, breakfast

The hotel has an excellent location, just steps away from all the main attractions. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The room was cozy and with a privileged view. I'd stay there again and again.

I didn’t like the fact that they don’t offer milk with the tea in the room. If we wanted milk it would be an extra cost. They should cater to their guests needs due to the fact British people drink milk with their tea regardless if the Spanish do not.

Excelente location, very helpful staff, good size room, comfy king size bed. Don’t recommend the buffet, not bad but too expensive for what they offer. Overall very good choice, close to everything. I do recommend it

What an excellent find! The property is directly across from the Royal Palace of Madrid and a 5 minute walk away from Gran Via (you definitely want to be close to Gran Via in Madrid). t was in a quiet, safe area and the staff was amazing. Always helpful and kind; they also upgraded us to a Palace view because we were on a birthday/honeymoon trip. The only downside were the beds and pillows were too hard/stiff for me. Bearing that in mind, I'd come again with my own travel pillow lol.

Will Definitely Stay Here Again

The amenities in the room are basic and clean. The beddings are comfortable and clean, but I would like to suggest that the standard rooms have flatter and softer pillows. During both my stays, I had to request for flatter pillows. The hotel was very helpful with my request both times. The front desk service team of Jose, Alberto, Ruben and Alexi were helpful and friendly. I especially like the attentiveness and helpfulness of concierge Thomas who have made our stay a good one. I will recommend this hotel to others and will make this hotel my choice in Madrid.

The front office staff Thomas, Alberto and Reuben are very polite staff. Thomas at Concierge is very attentive ( help with arrival, storage and departure luggage, suggestions on where to eat and visit, and the delivery of a flatter softer pillow ) helpful and friendly. Amazing hotel!

I have been staying at this hotel for more than 20 years but not since the pandemic. They have beautifully restored it and I loved it! Great location right in fron of Plaza España. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars, museums, etc.

Very attentive staff. Breakfast was fantastic y relatively fair priced. For visiting couples highly recommend they bar/lounge very beautiful and with a first class service and fairly priced...please dont forget to tip!👍
