We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Praia do Burgau! The staff was wonderful! The breakfast area was beautiful! The hotel is located in the small town of Burgau. It was located close to the beach and several very good restaurants. We highly recommend staying there!

Great stay, great breakfast!

Great place to stay

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Can't say a bad word about the our experience in Burgau. Our room with the balcony and ocean view capped off our fabulous time in Portugal.

Best place to stay on the Algarve coast!!

We had an amazing stay in a beautiful room. The hotel staff was very accommodating and allowed us to extend our stay because we loved the hotel so much. The hotel is located in a small quaint village with many great restaurants all within walking distance.

Very helpful and friendly staff - front desk, housekeeping, all great - made restaurant recommendations, hiking suggestions, easy big parking lot, room clean and adequate (nothing fancy), breakfast was ok - you have to get there right in the beginning or you will miss out - lobby was a bit dark yet ok

Safe and reliable option when visiting Burgau. Central position, close to shops, bars, restaurants and the beach.Great breakfast with a large choice, bacon,eggs, cold meats, cereals and fresh fruit and more. Well run with a nice pool, good views of the sea from the more expensive rooms with small balconies. I find it a little pricey but it is probably me remembering when it was a lot cheaper. But then I've been coming to Burgau for 35 years, when the roads were sandy tracks getting here

Super amazing staff and hotel is a 4 min walk from the most gorgeous beach you’ve ever seen! Also amazing hiking! Stay here in Burgau you will love it!

Hotel was more than great. Burgau a jewel on the Algarve for the one who seeks a quiet place.

Great at reception but odd location, almost overlooked. It was inexpensive which was a plus as it was on a whim I stayed in the area. But the place was pretty empty and had that feeling of being almost abandoned. I believe the place is for sale so that kind of makes sense. Restaurant or bar no longer in operation. Breakfast friendly enough, but sparse like some other recommendations.. get the impression the place is barely hanging on.. convenient to local restaurants which it looked like there were a lot of good ones, but the beach imo is not one I would choose to hang out at with so many other nicer ones around.

very nice small city, nice location, great parking

Unbearably hot, rude when we asked for a fan

Chose this hotel because of location, parking & air conditioning, given that it was Aug & very hot. Room only had a portable unit that truly did nothing to cool our room & gave off so much heat it made it worse. The exhaust tube leaked hot air into the room & the whole unit & wall behind was so hot it completely negates having AC. Other reviews (that I wish I had seen prior to my fiancé booking) mentioned this issue so this was not a unique experience. We tried everything to make the room comfortable, to no avail. We ended up sleeping with wet wash cloths on our bodies to try and stay cool. The bed was uncomfortable. The sheets were stained. The pool was freezing. Breakfast was hard boiled eggs, sliced white & brown bread, some sliced cheese, cheap ham, & bacon that was always empty, & margarine & jam. Everything was perpetually on the verge of running out, regardless the hour. Many of the places we stayed on this trip were quite rustic, with no AC, & were not this uncomfortable. We felt totally duped by the price & promises versus the experience we had. We were looking for alternatives by our 3rd night. We debated sleeping in the car. We debated sleeping on the beach. When we awoke on our last day, wet wash cloths on our bodies, we said, “It’s over!” We couldn’t wait to leave. Truly unacceptable for paying nearly $900 to stay there.

Perfect location and hotel for a quiet beach trip

A clean, comfortable, convenient hotel located in a National Park in a quiet, picturesque village. Parking onsite is a bonus since there seems to be little parking available around town. A very walkable location with easy, albeit hilly, access to the beach and restaurants. The staff was very informative and helpful. The breakfast offered ample tasty choices. This location is an especially nice alternative to Lagos or Sagres for those who would rather commune with nature than the masses found in other nearby resorts. Bring somewhat secluded and off the beaten path is what made Burgau a charming choice for my husband and me.

Lovely Hotel in Burgau

Lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Spotlessly clean throughout, rooms cleaned and serviced daily. Beautiful pool area (although does need a few umbrellas for shade) with bar and food available. They made us feel relaxed and welcome from the start.

Very lovely!

Unfortunately, my stay was fairly short, but such nice people! Very accommodating, lovely, eco-friendly hotel, with no TVs in the room (which I feel put a emphasis on enjoying nature)! Went out of their way to accommodate my dietary restrictions. And got up extra early to make sure I got breakfast before I left I can’t say enough, looking forward to returning sometime soon and spending more time here.

It was a last minute reservation and it turned out just fine.

This is a quaint gem and the staff go above expectations to make you feel welcomed. I highly recommend for solo or couples seeking a unique and affordable experience.

Feels like family

The property is dated and could probably use some updating but otherwise was great. The staff is incredibly friendly - there are just not enough words to describe how great the staff are - especially Nathalie and Paulo. Everyone is helpful and willing to share information and do whatever to keep you comfortable. They really make you feel like family. Be aware that hotels.com lists this as being in or near Lagos. It is not. I was able to take an Uber to the hotel but getting an Uber or Bolt from the property is nearly impossible - drivers don't go out there. There is a bus that runs regularly Mon-Fri and there are expensive taxis also available but best if arranged. If you want somewhat quiet and less crowded, this is the place to be!

Good location, excellent staff

Hotel Praia do Burgau could quite possibly be my favorite stay ever. The hotel owner is incredible. She is so kind and accommodating. Truly makes it feel like you're staying at her home. The Breakfast buffet is incredible with so many offerings. Views from our room were top notch and the location is sublime. Very close to a beautiful beach, hiking and many restaurants as well as the local bus station. 20/10 recommend.

Pleasant, comfortable, well situated for the small village of Burgau. Do be aware that not all rooms have the view advertised.

T'was a fine stay!

It was my third time visiting the area: Burgau, Praia da Luz, and Salema. Love this zone --- beautiful landscape -- nature - the beaches - hiking - and near Lagos and many other cool places. The hotel is older but comfortable. Terrific service - very sweet and helpful. Great location. Decent brekkie. My only criticism would be the bath towels are paper thin and scratchy.

A charming hotel just steps from the beach.....

What a great hotel..... tremendous location and just steps from the beach. And the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. This is in a charming little beach town without all the tourists that you'd see elsewhere in the Algarve. I will return!

Great stop

The owner was very eco friendly and explained a lot about the biodiversity of the area. Also gave us great tips for dinner . The staff seemed to be the family and went out of their way to genuinely take care of us . The rooms are simple but in such a magnificent setting , it is all one needs !

Hotel is located in a quaint little seaside village with many good restaurant choices. The hotel staff was friendly, attentive, and all spoke good English. The hotel was a bit difficult to locate; we had driven into their parking lot several time without realizing we were at the hotel, and that there was hotel entrance in the parking lot. A sign directing guests would be a welcome addition.

It was a really nice, low key, hotel to stay in in a beautiful area.

Spectacular cleanliness, always smells good. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The only thing to say it isn't really about the hotel but about the village. The restaurants in the village of burgau only work by appointment and all fill the room once, as they are small makes it difficult to get dinner.

Stay here!! You will thank me later. We felt like a member of their family while staying there. It is such a nice village and you can be on the beach in a couple minutes by foot. I can't say enough about the staff and how good they were to my family. Breakfast was great. Hopefully you are able to meet Simona. She was so nice to my family. I think my wife cried the last time she saw her. It is a great atmosphere.

Great hotel, great service, and great location!

This is a great smaller hotel very close to the beach with many shops and restaurants. The owners really cared about the quality of my stay. They were very involved and were always sure to check on how things were going for me. I got a great room with a ocean and beach view which also had a nice balcony to sit and enjoy the view.

Right near everything. You need to book restaurants one day or two days in advance to get a table in August. Also, the car park is round the corner, so find out where that is before you arrive.

Warm welcome and central location

The hotel is located at the top of a hill, in short walking distance of the beach and restaurants. The continental breakfast is nice although more options could be given for breads. The staff are adorable and super helpful and the hotel has a real family feel like the rest of Burgau. The pool is small but lovely and plenty of sunbeds were available.

Nice place to stay if you want solitude. Very quite with little to do unless your a naturist. Still a lovely place. Enjoyed my stay ! relaxing for sure .

Loved this place!

We absolutely loved our stay here. Loved our view of the beach from our room, hotel is in a great location with a great breakfast. Owners and employees felt like a family - the place had great vibes. We also loved the town, especially the restaurant the owners of the hotel recommended, No. 9, and the people there!

Great stay at at hotel Praia do Burgau, staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating! Great teas available all the time, lovely light breakfast, and so close to the beach and beautiful long hikes along the cliffs. Staff knowledgeable about botany and geology of the area, and so eager to share what they know!

The hotel is in great location, clean and the staff were very attentive to us and any minor request. The staff were also very helpful in providing information about the region. We had two rooms (one with sea view), both were excellent. Thank you Roger and Anna for your hospitality, you truly made us feel very welcome. We look forward to coming back!

A wonderful stay at a beautiful place. Staff was extraordinary and helpful . The only knock is the thin and less-than-prime mattresses. Herniated disk was cranky every morning. Amazing food all around and good sights to visit when the beach does feel right.

Beautiful hotel

This beautiful hotel has a wonderful staff and owners who greet you like old friends. Make sure you stay a Wednesday night in order to hear a great presentation and enjoy a home cooked Portuguese meal with the staff and the owners. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Amazing stay there would highly recommend owners and staff were brilliant. Only thing would of liked a tv to watch news in morning but took tablet so it was no problem x definitely will return Rodger and Christina have a brilliant hotel and 2 minutes away from everything x highly recommend I have just returned on 27.05.2018 will definitely be going back next year xx

Brilliant stay in a very welcoming hotel. Owners brilliant & very friendly/helpful, as indeed are the staff. Good location in a lovely quiet Western Algarve fishing village/beach resort.Car not essential as local bus service & taxis cheap.I'll definitely be back here, soon!
