Great food and location. Hotel is bit dated and rooms need upgrades. Road noise was an issue
The location was perfect close to the Rock . We had a beautiful view of the Rock. We got all inclusive and food was so delicious .there was some music noise during night time until 2 am that we couldn’t sleep.
It is sad that Expedia has to mis lead people to make money then ignore their request to cancel when they find out that Expedia lied to me as to the location of this hotel
10/10 excellent 👍👏
Perfecto
Camilo, Julián and Estefanía were amazing. Best place to stay in guatape.
What I liked about this property the most is the espectacular scenery, all around it.
Everything was good. The bad don’t have air conditioners in the rooms
Amazing location in front if the Piedra del Penol . Pool area is really nice with a great view. We chose the full board option and the food was delicious
Unfriendly service
All good
We stayed at a Jr Suite..GREAT view. Big and comfortable bed..also included to sofa beds. It did not have air-conditioning..but it was pretty cool outside..so the room was ok. I would have liked..an electric coffee machine were available. The included breakfast was very good..and the waitress were very good.
A little problem on my part at check in but it was on my part
I had chosen this property for the view and the jacuzzi on the balcony. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the jacuzzi because of mosquitos at night. Service was terrible. Hotel charges more than 5000 Columbian pesos for service in the suite. There was not even a bottle of water to welcome us. Everything is for sale. The next day, I wanted to iron my clothes but there was none in the suite. I called for one, it was never delivered. I went to the front desk and complained about it. Still nothing was done. I wore crumpled clothes to go out for dinner and travel. I felt humiliated. I left the hotel early on August 12 without eating breakfast because I was frustrated. I left my country, spent thousands of dollars to take my fiancée on a trip that we expected to be a great moment for the two of us. Instead, we were frustrated and did not enjoy our stay. The management of this hotel does not care about guest satisfaction; the staff lacks professionalism and lack knowledge about customer service 101. I will never stay at this hotel, and I will share my unpleasant experience with staff, friends, and others online to ascertain that whoever visits Guatapé does not stay in this hotel. I understand that business survives on profits but when greed prevails on customer satisfaction and service is terrible, there is a price to pay. Expedia also must be sued for doing business with this type of hotel. Nothing is done to ascertain that international standards are respected. I intend to sue.
Nice view to the water
The hotel is in a great location near the Peñol Rock. The food and the service was great. We stayed in a room with panoramic view of the rock.
We were a large group of 19 traveling together. We’re 5 siblings traveling with our own family and all Colombians. We had a beautiful time at this hotel. Nicely located and convenient to get to town on tuk-tuk, most fun way to travel short distances. There were two pools and a revolving bar. Keep in mind all facilities are not open and are in scheduled times. The staff was amazing and responsive. Hard working people and so pleasant. We stayed in a beautiful room with a grand view of the lake and El Peñol with a hot tub on the balcony, zen-like! The breakfast was buffet style with local choices to choose from. The lunch and dinner served was good, nothing stood out. The hotel is not luxurious but is comfortable and scenic. Very peaceful and a great way to spend 3 nights of our 16-day itinerary in Guatape.
Great Location in Area
Liked the location, and the view from my room, and appreciated the kindness and willingness to help from the staff, more so ever the exceptional service from Héctor, he is very welcoming, and the ride in the planchón with his explanation about the reservoir was very entertaining.
Everything.
It is a beautiful place to stay, just at night was a big storm and we was on floor 5, so water start to going out from the ceiling lamp, was trying to contact somebody at reception and was nobody to report, so we did not sleet that night at all because was like a fountain in our room and my cloth was all wet. Natali in reception was a very nice person, we report to her next day. /but they should have somebody at night for this kind of problems.
No air conditioning or fans in the rooms. Bathrooms over flooded when used. Very expensive for the quality it offers in the rooms. You can also hear the noise if the music is turned on at a high volumen in the bar.
Our stay was short, but we now wish we would have stayed longer to enjoy more of the property. Staff is very courteous, great breakfast, and conveniently located.
All the service was excellent
Reception may have someone who seems unhappy to be working there, the rest seemed to be helpful and at least put on a smile. The property is nice, good for families. *CAUTION THE POOL AREA-MOSTLY FOR LITTLE KIDS, DO NOT HAVE THEM RUNNING, THOSE FLOORS BY THE POOL AREA VERY SLIPPERY IF WALKING WITH WET FEET** (My kid slipped and hit his head, thankfully nothing bad happened).. other than that the property is probably the best with accomodations being close to the town and the rock. Would stay here again.
Nice view
I love that it was waterfront, had a pool, food and service was good. Location was great. Near Helicopter tours. Some rooms have jacuzzi tubs.
The front desk staff are very untrained and unprofessional especially the girl with the glasses and the blonde. I recommend you stay elsewhere. They ruined a great vacation trying to rip off foreigners. First they wanted me to cancel my reservation so they could charge me more. Then they told me I used the minibar which I didn’t and double Charged me as they didn’t restock it from the day before. So I paid twice. They can’t check it on the computer as they write it all on paper a clear sign they arent reporting that income. So they steal from you. The girls yell back and forth to the girl upstairs. Extremely unprofessional. If you are an English speaking person forget this hotel. They don’t speak english at the front desk. Total joke for sure a huge place.
The front desk staff is super rude and they steal money from you saying you used stuff in the minibar when you didn’t. They try and get you to cancel your reservation on Expedia and pay cash there for more! They obviously are stealing money as they write everything on paper a d don’t use a computer. Quite the money laundering scam. Especially the blonde at the front and the girl with glasses. Both super rude and offer zero assistance. Didn’t even give me change. Kept My Change. Haha. For sure a resort to have such an untrained front desk is a joke.
Never again
Hot water wasn’t working. Maintenance had to come twice and it still quit working. Room was too hot and there is no air conditioning. Bar across the street had a band playing until midnight so we couldn’t sleep.
Maybe 3* hotel.
Between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. touring Helicopters are flying directly above the building. It is loud, very loud, if your room is located in that corner of the building. The waiters bring drinks and food to people enjoying jacuzzi. It is not hygienic. Kids try to swim in that jacuzzi. One adult person has brought a big ball which has jumped out of her hand making a generous water splash into person sitting beside. Jacuzzi is not a place were you can relax.
A disappointing experience
I would have to be sincere. This hotel has the potential to be a top choice, but it is obvious that the operations of the hotel have decided to not to invest any money on place, I rented the 2 best suites of the hotel the imperial, and well my expected to have the best of everything as I pick and all-inclusive package. Did not asked for a better I paid what they asked, no air-condition on the unit I was told because it get really cold at night not what I experience. I expected to be able to watch tv at night on a great tv, they had an antique. I was told my package was all inclusive not really the breakfast is not. buffet, lunch is not buffet, dinner is not buffet, I will tell you for the price you could have gone to many other places. my in-laws had a number of problems in their suite. the solution offer was to move then to a much lower room but keep same price. they claimed they have a jacuzzi in the room I guess my definition of a jacuzzi is much different. The staff is not able to make the changes required to keep this places on the top as new locations open and other hotels keep up with the time this will become the hotel of the past
Room 503 was great . Our third time here . All staff , no matter what their job is go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of
Enjoyed the couple weekend. Stayed in the junior suit. Very comfortable
Very good place
My favorite place in the entire world!!
Un lugar increíble!
Excelente
beautiful hotel with amazing view and comfort
this is an amazing hotel located just next to Piedra el penon de Guatape - the views are amazing! its just beautiful to wake up with the view to the lake - or walk about seeing the scenery. so peaceful! the only comment would be the food -breakfast was very modest and did not have much variety
Nice, safe, cheap
Great experience
Very attentive and courteous service. Staff works hard to clean the rooms clean. I would recommend it and I would go again.
Beautiful view at the expense of swarms of mosquitoes… Those big beautiful glass windows… have quarter inch gaps in between each panel allowing all your friendly neighborhood critters to get in. Dont bother popping that $60 dollar bottle of champagne in the room either. They’ll charge you more than a night stay ($170) for it and let’s not forget the unauthorized tips they’ll add to your bill. To top it all off, they’ll tell you the extra $30 - (whatever # they come up with) charges are due to the exchange rates going up and down… yeah…. No wonder the place was a ghost town when we checked in. no credit was issued back after the drawn out back and forth with facts in hand. Save yourself the nightmare and book a beautiful bnb across the way with the same view and less headaches.
Great rooms, beautiful views. Near La Piedra and Guatape. Beautiful stay
excellent property only needs to have Air conditining, other than that perfect
The pools are dirty
This hotel is super expensive and the service is very bad. The ladies who work in the hotel are rude and don't pay attention to your complaints. especially valentina agudelo. They have the attitude that the guests are there begging. the rooms are filthy full of dust, mosquitoes and cockroaches we call and report and they don't care much about our feelings. we don’t recommend this hotel sadly is a big scam. in pictures look beautiful but in reality is another thing. i have proof of my review.
So I’ve been going to Hotel Los Recuerdos in Guatape for more than 5 years, always considering it to be one of the hotels closest to meeting US standards…until yesterday. I reserved a jacuzzi suite for 1 night in order to soak my 60 year old self in a nice hot jacuzzi, paying $650,000cop for the night. At about 9pm I start to fill the tub and this is what I got (see pics and video). Brown, smelly water. I called the front desk and a young maintenance guy (Estiben) comes out and tells me the room hasn’t be rented in a long time and that’s the cause of the problem. We drain the tub and run the water awhile and try again. Still the same thing. He leaves to go talk to his boss about getting me another room. He comes back 5 minutes later and says his boss wouldn’t let him do that and that they’ll refund some undetermined amount of my money in the morning. I’m not happy but it’s now after 10pm and I’m not gonna drive back to Sabaneta in the middle of the night. Estiben leaves and I go into the bathroom and when I try to flush the toilet the bowl nearly overflows and won’t empty. Of course the water in the bathroom is the same brown mess in the jacuzzi. I couldn’t shower (I did help myself to a bottle of water for brushing my teeth). So this morning, as suggested by Estiben I go to the front desk and ask for a free night in an equivalent room some time in the future or my money back. They offer to return to me $110,000cop, which I declined.
The hotel is excellent and has beautiful views. The only thing I didn't like was that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning.
The hotel wasn’t clean enough. The food was poor portions, you can not grab more from the Buffett and not many options.
Checkin is painfully slow. As is check out. Otherwise great property. Great views. Great pool.
Deben extender la horas de servicio de pisicina y comida
It is on a hill, has no pool, need transportation, is on a major roads
We did enjoy our stay at The Hotel Los Recuerdos and would probably stay here again when we come back to Guatape. Some things we liked, the proximity to La Piedra, the pool facilities, and the water sports equipment like Jet Skis. Some things that we had issues with... An important note is that there are two helicopter tours that operate in close proximity to the hotel, so during the day time hours you will hear helicopters constantly flying in and out, which I found very annoying at first, but eventually got used to. Another thing was that our room didn't have air conditioning or an exhaust fan for the bathroom, so our room was often quite humid especially after showers. We had payed for full board which included all meals. The breakfasts were good, but we only had dinner the first night and were underwhelmed by it so we ate dinner out the rest of the trip. Also we found that when we needed some sort of concierge services such as calling a cab or arranging tours, the front desk was unhelpful and we would end up getting directed to the restaurant counter where one of the waitstaff would assist us. This was a bit strange, but the waitstaff was always eager to help us any way they could. We had an absolute blast riding Jet Skis around the lake and these were easily rented right on premises. Also one of the gentlemen who worked the grounds went above and beyond in helping us get a private car to take us to the Medellin airport on our departure day.
The food was amazing. The personal was nice. Our room with the view of el penol was very nice. We only had an issue with one of the receptionist that made a mistake and got us confused. She took our bracelets of full service and changed for other bracelets. That moment was uncomfortable and very unexpected.
Location is perfect. It's next to the piedra del peñol and a 7 min drive to Guatape. Staff was nice Pool area is clean and has a few pools. The pool and ping pong table is a plus. The breakfast was decent at best. Im glad I didnt buy the lunch package. The internet was atrocious. It was very slow regardless of location (rooms, lobby, front desk or restaurant)
The front desk ladies that check you in are horrible! They seemed bothered by your mere presence. The restaurant staff is outstanding along with the housekeeping ladies. More importantly, the rooms have no AC, which obliged me to open windows, which led to be bit by misquotes all night. Appearantly, the hotel had fans available, but the front desk nasty ladies did not bother to let me know. 6/10 is my rating.
Hotel Los Recuerdos is a Fantastic and Magnificent place. Sitting right on the water and presents many spectacular views. The boat tour with Hector was great. He shared a bit of history about Guatape. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone. Also the food was great.
I was there to rest and relax, it’s a beautiful property probably the best in the area, BUT the loud NOISE from the HELICOPTER tour passing through was really bad. The other thing they close the elevator at night time Which it doesn’t make any sense at all,
Second time here . AMAZING room . The only problem was the elevator was out of service Saturday which made it difficult for this old fellow on the 5th floor
Excellent location, service and things to enjoy around
I am sorry to say that we didn't have good experience at hotel Los Recuerdos. First and foremost it is much more expensive than the hotels we stayed at in Bogota and Medellin and those beat this one hands down. The amenities and furniture of the rooms are pathetic. The complimentary breakfast poor with not many choices. We had a room as if it was on the side of the main drag street. you can hear the cars, trucks and 18 wheelers passing by as if they pass by the bedroom. But the beauty and scenery outside that area and the beauty of green and houses around the Guatape dam is amazing. So I would not recommend this hotel at all.
very clean and just a beautifully designed property
the views
Excelent location
Charged an extra 50% for my prepaid room
The hotel doesn't seem to understand the concept of pre-paying for a room through hotels.com or similar. Although I prepaid, showed them the receipt, showed them the credit card statement they STILL claim that I only prepaid half -- even though the receipt says that I paid the full amount! For what I paid for this hotel room for one night I should not be treated so!
So nice! Was a highlight of our trip. Beautiful location and views, clean, great service and the yacht tour is a must! Loved this place!
View of the lake
Had a beautiful view of the lake
The best hotel in guatapé
In front of dam and big stone
Great location and the amenities were great. The views are hard to beat.
Great location, great. Rooms are older and need renovations. Loud music at 1am.
Great view of lake.
Great view, noisy though with all glass walls, no carpet.
Staff is fantastic, they are very helpful. Overall cleanness is very deficient.
Good
I love this place. It’s my favorite hotel in Guatape. You won’t be disappointed. The panoramic imperial suite view is stunning. Would go back always!!!
The staff that work on the property were excellent. However, the person in charge at reception was very unwelcoming and demanded a passport otherwise I would not be "allowed" to stay there. The hotel also prohibited the entry to the property of a friend who came by to visit and were very strict and rude.
The only problem we have had so far is when we checked in at around 9pm, it was pouring rain, the was no one to help us unload, once we unloaded into the lobby ourselves and us all wet, then some guy showed up. 2nd bad thing is our shower did not drain well so our feet would splash around all the dirty water. Everything else has been great.
Love it
The hotel is located on the road. It's easily accessible. Staff was polite and courteous. Check in went smoothly. But There are no amenities in the room. There is a charge for everything. I don't know how much I was charged for a bottle of water in the room. This is unacceptable. Hotel should provide two free bottles of water to their clients. One day at the hotel was very costly. I won't stay there anymore.
The place is great and the employees all friendly and helpful. The only thing I did not enjoy was they have what could be a fabulous boat ride on a yacht with lunch for a very reasonable price but they ruin it by giving the DJ total control over the volume of the music which he blasted to the point where about 10 of us had to leave the inside cabin and sit outside which we did not want but had no choice the loud music was actually painful. We asked the DJ if he could lower it just a little but he just laughed in our face and said "bailar". This one negative did not detract from all the other positives of this place and I totally recommend it.
Very nice location near the lake and offers many activities from hotel itself
Great hotel!!!
This place is beautiful. We had plans to do excursions but since we were only here on night, we just stayed on the property and relaxed. We paid extra for the jacuzzi suite. The views are amazing!!!! Service was very good here too.
awesome.
This was an amazing place. the surrounding area is also gorgeous. I would love to go back. the only issue is getting there, which requires at least 90 minutes by taxi. Our trip to the property was over 4 hours because of holiday traffic on the only road leading there. But once there... awesome. Food was great with many area shops and eateries. The staff is extremely responsive and take initiative to help you even before asking. The grounds are very well maintained and I loved there were little things to do, like ping pong, billiards and jenga. The room was also excellent with a very firm bed - which I like. Shower was small for two people, but we managed. The view made everything worth it, We had a balcony that overlooked the lake. It is practically right next to the rock. The only downside is you have tour helicopters 300 yards away. I will stay there again.
We stayed in a room with a fully unobstructed view of the rock everyone goes to climb. It was a beautiful panoramic view and was it worth every penny. A jacuzzi in the room so you can enjoy the view as well. Every staff member we interacted with was polite kind and extremely helpful. We had laundry service done as we traveled with teens and that was amazing too. I’d recommend to anyone looking for the best experience in Guatape!
Excellent place and very good ammenities
Beautiful place to stay. Amazing views
Great place. Exceed my expectations.
Nos gustó mucho lo especial del Hotel en relación a su exclusividad
This property is in a great location about 300 mts from the entrance to the Peñol, they offer the helicopter ride, this is a must.
This is our second time in Guatape. The first time there we stayed at their sister hotel (Hotel Santorini) and it was a complete disaster -- so much so that we cut our stay short and checked out after the first night (see my review there). It was only after I booked a non-refundable reservation at Los Recuerdos that I discovered they were sister properties, so I braced for the worst. But to my pleasant surprise the experience was completely different. COMPLETELY. Unlike Hotel Santorini, this hotel is beautiful, is situated right on the waterfront, has a fantastic restaurant, two large pools, two working jacuzzis, free transportation to and from town, and the best staff around! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. When we checked in we noticed there was no balcony in the room, though the pictures had shown a balcony. So we called Reception and they were delighted to charge our room at no additional cost. When we return to Guatape we will definitely be booking this hotel again!
This is the worst hotel in Guatape. Do not stay here.
Been here a few times over the past 10 years. Always great and close to “The Rock”
What drove me crazy was the at there was no air conditioning. I could barley sleep with all the heat. It’s all good they just need to install air conditioning
Was staying at this property and got a knock on the door at approximately 11PM that the music was too loud. I did have my speaker on, but we have no neighbors and the person below me was my relative. It was not loud. They had the name incorrect for who they were looking for, so I assume they were looking for someone else (there was in fact loud music on the floor, but with our closed door, it didn’t bother us). Oddly, literally 30 minutes later OUR ELECTRICITY WAS TURNED OFF FOR THE ROOM. I searched the property for someone and no one was to be found. The breakfast/lunch/dinner buffet wasn’t bad. The price paid for the room — apparently the best room they have, imperial panoramic suite — was definitely not worth the price compared to some other stays in Guatape I have had in the past. Would never come back here again due to the experience we had. Room was nothing special and the hotel literally did not care the next morning when I spoke to front desk.
Very friendly staff
I like nothing of this hotel...way over price...very nosey...no air condion...whas very long at the reception...I really really don't recommande this hotel..
Very clean breakfast was delicious like a brunch , near the rock el Pañol and Guatape little cute town
Staff attitude is amazing. Noisy in rooms near the road
