I really enjoyed my stay. The front desk staff were really helpful and accommodating and very nice. It could easily walk to anywhere I needed. I would recommend Hotel Leo to anyone staying in Bellingham.
Everything was excellent. 5 stars all around!
Lovely hotel a store I can get very well updated great bed comfortable staff is really friendly. They go back. I would stay there in a minute.
Historic and quaint hotel in the wheart of downtown Bellingham
Very spacious room, lovely retro feel bar, very friendly staff
Always enjoy staying at Hotel Loe
We loved this hotel! So much history and charm. It was conveniently located and the room had a beautiful view and was big and perfectly appointed for us. The only downside was the noise from outside woke us up. I would suggest having earplugs handy in case. But we would absolutely stay there again. We really loved it.
Lovely
The bed was interesting, it felt like an air bed. The overall experience was amazing. The amenities and service was exceptional.
Old world charm, great location, noisy pipes
Lobby is old world charming. Historic rooms are kinda...meh. The charm is there, but not super elevated. Carpet is kinda...I dunno, old? The water hammer in the old pipes is deafening when you're trying to sleep. But great location! Staff is excellent! Food and drink in the restaurant is awesome! They provide ear plugs for the noisy pipes.
Location
We stayed in the Columbia Suite (room 107) and it was like having our own apartment. Beautifully furnished, with semi mid-century modern decor. Everyone from the front desk to the bar made sure we were well taken care of and had everything we needed. We’ll definitely be back.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and staff, the room was updated and excellent!!!
Wonderful!
I had a great stay at Hotel Leo. The staff was welcoming and everything was pleasant from check in to check out. I loved the warm pastries in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. The location is charming with lots of good restaurants and take-out places. I would love to stay again sometime.
Great historic hotel, thoughtfully update.
The character of the building!
Had a wonderful time with my pup. Thanks for being pet friendly!
Wow, what an amazing experience. You will step back in to the historic Bellingham upon entering The Hotel Leo. The front desk will welcome you with warm cookies/dessert, snacks and a beverage station. If you are looking for modern and quiet, this is not your hotel. This hotel holds many secrets of the past ... you will find yourself caught up in the magical whirlwind of the past. We spent our evening at the Chuckanut Brewery, RumRoom and Bellingham Bar and Grill, all great! Support your local business.... can't wait for our next visit in a few weeks! Support your business, I hope you enjoy the beauty of Bellingham as much as we did!
Awesome hotel and location!!
The room we got was very old and not updated. It has radiator heaters that were banging and popping loudly every hour. It’s hard to sleep in that room with all of that noise.
Our home in Bellingham
Our grandson is attending WWU, so Bellingham is now a destination for us. Hotel Leo is great, close to the campus and dog friendly. We will be visiting again and agin over the next few years.
Love the interior of the old hotel feel at Leo. Location is convenient to all restaurants and other entertainment spots. Definitely will come back and stay at this place!
The staff were very friendly. The building needs updating. Our room was smaller than my master bedroom at home. The tv was at weird angle from the bed, which was the only place to sit. The bed itself is super low to ground, but otherwise comfortable. I'm glad i decided to bring my own coffee pot because the room only had an electric kettle and instant coffee or tea. The bathroom needs work. It's the size of a closet and everything needs to be recaulked. The sink faucet was super loose. The shampoo and conditioner was great and smelled like oranges. I tried using one of the wall outlets in the room and the entire thing just pushed into the wall. The bar/restaurant and pool table area were all closed to us the first night for a private event. The 2nd day we checked out the restaurant and were going to have brunch, but my husband didn't really like anything that was on the very small menu. The menu we found online must be for a different location. There was live jazz music during brunch. But the stage and entire restaurant area looked disheveled and like the whole place was just an afterthought and kind of thrown together. This hotel has a ton of potential, but definitely needs to undergo some renovations for the price they are charging.
a good visit
Excellent location close to many good restaurants. Comfortable room. It would be nice to have a better chair/light for reading.
Likes: big space, kitchenette with dinnerware Didn't like: noise. There were ear plugs provided though.
We have stayed at Hotel Leo several times but unfortunately I think this will be the last. We have stayed in several different types of rooms some more updated than others. This last one was so old it lost any historic charm. The carpet was filthy and the vanity and cabinets were cheap and reminded me of apartments I had in college. The bed was very comfortable and the location can’t be beat. The library/pool table room is our favorite sport. However we will be looking for another place to stay when we are in town even if it’s a bit further from downtown.
This hotel exudes charm and character. A very well managed boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Bellingham. A very short walk to a multitude of very cool bars and restaurants as well as some good shopping. It’s our second time staying here and once again it has exceeded our expectations.
Great location, lovely and clean and spacious.
Check in was smooth and service has been great!
Lovely spot in downtown Bellingham. Super comfy bed and lovely staff. Great alternative to chain hotels in north Bellingham.
Excellent and attentive stuff.
We lived the ambience of this historic downtown hotel. Beautiful public areas and a clean comfortable room. The platform bed was a little low for my tastes, but comfy. Bathroom was nicely updated. We lived the walkability of the downtown location, near plenty of cute shops and restaurants.
One of the worst beds I’ve slept on in a Hotel! An extremely noisy location with train passing by several times throughout the night and people yelling on the street out front of Hotel until the early morning.
This historic building has so much charm. I hope they warn people the beds are so low, they are difficult to get out of. Just something people need to know.
Loved location and very friendly staff!!!!
Charming Retro
The hotel does the basics right...service, comfort, location. All in an early 20th century venue that has been kept up to date while retaining its charm.
Fun and clean hotel ,close to shops and restaurants.
A bit noisy at times. Cool building.
Historic hotel and close to many restaurants and coffee shops.
It was a good place. Maybe a bit dated but great location in the heart of Bellingham. We thought the staff was curious.
Absolutely perfect
The man who checked us in on the evening of the 10th was very friendly and professional. He changed us to a more convenient room as we had a baby with a ton of stuff and would have had to walk up stairs to our original room on the first floor. I believe some rooms are renovated. Our room had carpet but our friends had timber floors and looked a little newer/fresher. The room was very clean but you can tell it’s aging and may need a little work. Around midnight there was a horrible rattling from the vent in the kitchen. Other than that, the stay was wonderful and we’d definitely stay again.
Oh Danny Boy, The pipes are piping
This is a great old hotel with friendly staff and a great bar. Rooms are good. The pipes are old and when it is cold very noisy at 6:30 am. I would still come back but would ask about the pipe noise.
Everything was great
Cool place. Very authentic feel
Convenient location
Hotel Leo is conveniently located in downtown Bellingham, and we could walk to the theater and great restaurants.
Very clean, renovated property, close to everything
I loved the historic feel of the hotel and the surrounding businesses. Don’t miss the Colombian coffee shop across the street. Electric museum was totally interesting too.
Great place to stay right in downtown Bellingham! Cool little movie theatre in the basement too!
Nice historic building right downtown.
We loved our stay here and will absolutely stay again! So many options of places to shop and dine nearby, we will be back <3
A bit chilly, otherwise terrific!
We had a very good visit, and were impressed by the hotel's location and staff. The complimentary upgrade was much appreciated. One thing to note: the suite was very cool in the late afternoon and all night. At 6 am the radiators came on quite noisily... The desk staff was very friendly and knowledgeable - great recommendation for a breakfast place nearby.
Very good location
Y
Cute but stuffy
Cute hotel older shows every bit of that which is fine including the old hotel smell. Unfortunately our room was super musty smelling and for some reason the window was stuck shut the front desk was unable to get it open the best they could offer was a fan which did nothing but blow the air in the room around. Really wish they could have switched us to a room with a working window but that was not an option. This flared up my allergies really bad I woke up in the morning and could not breathe through my nose luckily it cleared up within an hour of leaving. Great atmosphere friendly staff just checked to make sure your window works.
Great location and love how they are dog friendly. We loved that the lobby kept elements of the old building such as the phone booth and mailbox. We are booking again in a couple of weeks. Cannot beat this location for a clean, reliable, and affordable hotel in downtown Bellingham.
Loved it all!
Very clean. Nice spacious rooms and excellent location.
Very cool and unique place. We want to go back and just stay in the hotel and use all the cool amenities for a couple days sometime.
Nice place
Beautiful old building well renovated. Beds and bathroom clean and comfortable. Room could use a bit more decor, lots of big blank walls. Room got warm at night, not much air flow. Didn’t open the windows because there was rowdy nightlife right outside.
This is the best hotel to stay at in Bellingham by far. Right down town- very walkable. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Our dog loves this hotel too and the staff are very dog friendly! 10/10 will come back again!
Property is conveniently located in downtown area. Hotel parking is limited. We stayed 5 days, 4 nights, and the garbages were never emptied, coffee restocked, & the room was never reached. We asked for dishes in the kitchenette and there were none. Value did not equal the rate.
Welcome staff was excellent
Great spot!
Love the historic vibe if the hotel. Our stay was fantastic.
Hotel Leo is located perfectly to enjoy the offerings of downtown Bellingham on foot. This was appreciated for our quick weekend visit. We chose one of the smaller rooms and it satisfied our needs. It would have been nice to have a suitcase stand or other to place our belongings. Our room on the 3rd floor did look directly onto the filthy roof of the neighboring building, but our stay was not meant to take in the sites from our hotel room. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Perfect location in the heart of downtown Bellingham. Old-world charm, great bar.
This hotel was great! Staff were amazingly friendly and help! The only issue was the A/c unit in our room did not get cold and was mostly just a fan
The staff is great, but the room was not a good fit for me. The bed is about 12 inches off the floor, the lights have no shades on them and are blindingly bright. The window didnt shut completely, the bathtub drain was clogged, and there was nothing to sit on other than the bed. The location is excellent, the vibe is good, the staff is excellent, and the orice was right, but ill never book here again.
This is a nice historic property in a great location. It has a very friendly and helpful staff and a nice bar. What drags my rating down is mainly the bed. It was a mattress on a platform with no box spring. As a result, it is low and incredibly hard for us older folks to get in and out of. The furniture in the room looked old and the couch was just dirty looking. The room was huge (two room suite), but no storage. The shower was good, but no grab bar. I would not stay here again unless I was assured they had replaced the bed with a more conventional option.
The staff is friendly, responsive and helpful. The location is right in the middle of downtown and convenient to everything we wanted to explore. It’s a good spot to stay for a few nights.
good
My room was terrible
Hotel Leo is located in the center of downtown, nice touristic area. But the area becomes unsafe, getting worse every year. I see hotel is serious about it and there’s safe inside
an unexpected gem
This hotel is an unexpected gem in the heart of Bellingham. It’s nondescript from the outside - we would have walked right past it. It’s within walking distance to dozens of restaurants and shops, and the included parking means we never had to use our car. The hotel itself is very old with a lot of history, but has been extensively renovated and modernized. Staff are very friendly, easygoing and helpful. If you’re staying in Bellingham, this is the place to stay.

Great location and rooms in downtown Bellingham
Had a great stay at the hotel Leo in downtown Bellingham. This is a historic hotel that has had some modernization but still shows its historic architecture and charm. A great base to explore the area.
Nice to have the option of a suite with a kitchen and separate bedroom. However, there was no elevator to the first floor of suites so we had to carry everything up stairs. Not a big deal, but not ideal.
Excellent location, rooms are quiet and clean.Bed was very soft, some people probably like that though!
There are inherent challenges due to being an older historic building that the hotel has no control over, but they work hard to make up for the slight drawbacks by friendly staff and quirky ambiance. Can’t beat the location, easy parking (which is rare downtown), and how dog-friendly it is!
Overall a great hotel with many amenities and in great location!
Very cool little hotel right downtown. Fun little speakeasy bar inside. Our room had everything we needed, comfy bed, my only complaint would be we had to drag luggage upstairs. Luckily it was just one flight. Easy parking in their garage. Great location
Nice to see the old historic parts of the building and that it is significantly different than modern hotels. A lot of fun. Also felt good about being able to leave our car in covered and lighted area and that there was security around. Thank you
The rooms are very quiet and clean. The restaurants in the area are very good and most are accommodating to vegan people. Great location.
Nicest staff ever! Easy stay with our pups. Loved the property.
Hotel Leo is in a good walkable location but food is more barefoot then fine food
The location and staff are amazing. All of my interactions with front desk, support, and the servers at A21 stand out as some of the better I've had across all hotel star levels. Exceptionally, they happily moved me to a room with AC and quieter neighbors during an unbearable night in one of the older units. That being said - the rates for rooms, even well in advance, are quite ridiculous. The value is still just, simply put, not there. They absolutely price gouge. Beware. Housekeeping/facilities could be more thorough (still very clean, just that suite items like soap aren't often restocked or checked for issues). Book Hotel Leo well in advance... You might get a good deal comparatively. I really wish they'd step up their room game a bit - then I would really have no qualms about the pricing. Willing to pay. Wanting to pay... But not getting an the same amount of service one excepts for Fairmont prices in Bellingham. I love the area - it's right in the center of town. Everything downtown is walkable, and the hotel sits two blocks away from the railroad trail to Fairhaven. Unfortunately, some may find the area not to their liking... People forget Bellingham is now a real city. There's going to be dirt and people of all walks of life. Regardless, I find it to be safe, well lit, and have no prior history of issues.
An excellent hotel, well-located in central Bellingham.
Very dated with old glamour feel, but limited in amenities and space. The bathroom’s are tiny and it seems like they used to be apartments forever ago. Staff is friendly.
Unfinished Techno-Modern
This is a confusing space: its attempt to be techno-elegant, just comes off ... unfinished. Like, why is there a vast empty space for 50% of the room with a router sitting in the middle of the floor? Why are there so few outlets? Why does the bathroom fan roar at 70 decibels? Why is there no freezer in the fridge? Why is someone else's trash under my sink? All the odd architectural cutouts could have been helpful if they had shelves rather than just empty holes. I feel like this room is some half-completed movie set for an unclear science fiction movie.
So nice to be easy walking distance from anything you could want. Amazing historic building but room was very modern. Secure bike storage a big plus as well. Loved it!!!
Almost great, but weird soft beds
Big suite, full kitchen, clean room. Beds are not great though. Very soft and kind of feel like an air mattress. If the beds were nice this place would be great. Perfect location.
This was a lovely and very comfortable hotel
Lovely large rooms. Incredibly comfortable beds. Great choice for families.
Paid for a suite, was told there is no elevator to the 1st floor, wait 1st floor has stairs to get to? Had to take our bags up like 15 stairs, a landing, 5 more stairs, and then we had the furthest room at the end of the hall, my hubby recently had ankle surgery so this was not easy or convenient. We made sure we were okay with an out of state handicap placard for the car and she saw his cane and she but offered nothing to make our stay easier on him. She was not friendly during check in but did tell us to check out early on Sunday as a parade would block us in if we had not left by 10 and our car would be stuck until after 1:00pm. Again, not super helpful. Room had hot plate but no pans, ac had to run at 64 or room smelled musty, bed sheets slipped off while sleeping each night ( no matter how tight we pulled them on). The wedding we went up to Bellingham was amazing and wonderful would not want to stay here again.
Kitchen could be better stocked: utensils, dish towels, dish soap. No coffee table, rugs, or art. No recycle bin. Door lock difficult. Nice surprise that we had the best view of the fireworks.

My first time staying at Hotel Leo. The check-in and parking was easy. The staff is kind and very helpful, the room clean, the hotel so cozy and inviting! Will definitely be coming back!
