Hotel a besoin de rafraîchissement
Haven’t explored the area outside, but love the pool and beach area.
Was there for one night before boarding a cruise ship. Did not bother to take an ocean view room. Ended up in a room in a renovation area where rooms around were being renovated, not very welcoming. There was presence of a lot of mildew in the room and even more in the bathroom, ceiling and walls. We only noticed that the next morning other wise we would not have stayed in that room.
PLEASE DO NOT BOOK! I wish I had read the reviews before booking this place. I stayed one night and it was a nightmare! The entire place is outdated and falling apart! The shower head was on the rusty bathtub floor and was filthy! The towels were stained. When we asked for a room change, they offered additional cleaning and new towels instead and asked us to speak to a manager in the morning. Who did NOTHING! In the morning, we found a cockroach in our room and ran out of there as fast as we could! Breakfast was included, but the selection will make you lose your appetite! The worst hotel stay ever! I’m sure they are committing a number of health violations. And the audacity to charge so much is beyond me! STAY AWAY! The pool looks nice and it was the access to the beach front that got us to book. Both are NOT WORTH the filthy rooms! RUN!
The dining where you can get other stuff.
This is THE WORST hotel I have stayed in. It is old, outdated, and looks like a haunted mansion. I have never been more uncomfortable and because I was away from home I felt obligated to stay. Thinking about the experience makes my skin crawl. The only nice thing about this property is the staff.
Love this hotel! Where else you can feel the 70s vibe. Yes it is old and tired but if if know what to expect you won't be disappointed. Breakfast is decent and all the staff is very professional, helpful and friendly. Amazing sunsets from the pool and room balcony. Thanks for heaving us. Wish to be back one day.
Good location, nice views from hotel. Good general surroundings, however the rooms decor and furniture are outdated, bathrooms titles need repair, balcony ramps needs repair, gym requires upgrade and fresh air circulation. Some area leading to beach restaurant would require more lighting as too dark to see and walk through at night time. Music from beach bar was too loud passed 9:00, and even passed 12:00 we could hear people partying and shouting from outside. Shower malfunction was reported but was never taken care of. Finally after 3 days and several follow ups we were transferred to an upgrade room. Front desk clerk was supportive at trying to solve the issue. Hotel staff in general was very welcoming. This hotel could benefit some maintenance.
Beautiful view overlooking the ocean The property was very dated and dirty. Needed maintenance in a big way, many repairs needed I would start with paint. Property has a great potential
1970s hotel
The view of the ocean is the only reason to stay at this Hotel which was built in 1970 so in a bad state of repair throughout ,food quality very low .that said location was good and staff where friendly at all times .
This property is beyond dated. Simple things could be done to make it at least acceptable. The carpets are stained and smelly, pictures are moldy and hanging out of their frames, paint is peeling. They close the bar 2 days a week. The breakfast buffet is ok, but the chef to cook a fresh egg for you is nowhere to be seen. There is no dinner restaurant. There is no usable bath tub in the room. One redeeming feature is a nice pool---but new chairs and umbrellas are needed. The propertys' location is beautiful........but, the rooms are nasty.
The hotel was booked last minute so we did not know exactly what it would be like. The room was clean and great with a terrace on the Ocean. Because of Covid many places on the island were closed. There was also a curfew. Staying at the hotel allowed us access to many services that were closed outside of the hotel. It was a wonderful stay at La Bateliere. RECCOMENDED!
The sign as you walk in says "Since 1970". Well, this older hotel is in bad need of renovations. Don't be fooled by the website photos. For example, the nice pool side umbrellas are either torn or missing. There was one decent umbrella in the few that were available. The paint is peeling off of the outside walls of the building. The outside walls are also caked with years of dirt. We had booked and prepaid for a "luxury" room through expedia. We were given a lower grade "superior" room. I regrettably didn't realize this until the last day of our stay. The hotel was not busy at all and I'm sure plenty of rooms were available. The room was ok, but dated. The bathroom in particular was ugly and had mould on the walls. The little lagoon below is nice and we enjoyed swimming there. We liked the breakfast and the restaurant in general. We had dinner at the hotel twice and the food was excellent. The staff were helpful and we're thankful that they were still at our service in spite of the coronavirus pandemic.
Nice hotel and pleasing staff. Nice little Beach and pool is very welcome
Staff wasn’t very helpful or attentive to provide the service’s specified in the reservation. They forgot to provide wifi password. They don’t tell you about hotel amenities and or schedules. Beach was super crowded with people from the street, who’re loud and messy to say the least. Pool umbrellas are almost nonexistent, they are all ragged and the spikes metal exposed. This hotel has none to very poor cheap maintenance, the rooms have big unfinished Sheetrock boards covering probably big holes or who knows what, but I would never ever will stay there again.
The only thing I Iiked is the view of the sea and the beach area which is close. The room was shabby and the tiles in the toilet were very dirty and stained. The tiles in the shower area appeared to have mold and dark spots. It was disgusting.
Our overall experience was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The children enjoyed the breakfast, the beach and Lili's Restaurant and Bar. The use of the Transit Room after check-out allowed us to enjoy the beach a bit longer since our Boat was due to depart at 19:00hrs. The Transit-Room is a very nice and thoughtful facility. I would recommend Hotel La Bateliere to all my friends who wish to visit Martinique for business or pleasure.
Business hotel, nice view, but needs some care.
We stayed for 3 nights in April. The room was large as I had booked a luxury room, but it was very tired. The paintwork was bad and dirty. Table on balcony was broken, and not replaced even though we reported it. The view was great. The restaurant is average.
Staff is friendly and helpful, food was excellent, although a la cart service was a bit slow out of the kitchen at times. Location on the seaside with pool and the beach is great, view and all.
Grand older hotel in fantastic location with open design that allows enjoyment of climate and sea views from lobby/restaurant/bars. Good swimming pool and small beach. Our superior room with sea view was enjoyable. Needs some renovation.
The hotel is old and in need of refurbishment. We were initially given a room which meant walking a long way. This room was substandard, had a view of a building site and the door card didn't work (we tried several). They then put us into a better room but this was dated. There was a lot of marble, including around the pool, which was dangerous and slippy when wet. The bar, which stayed open late, did not sell wine although the one downstairs by the pool did. The wifi only worked intermittently. The TV stopped working after 2 days and wasn't fixed. We never got into the hotel car park although there was parking in a field and on the road outside but these were badly lit at night. The worst thing was an incident at the pool one afternoon. There was an invasion of about 15, or more, black teenagers who tried to intimidate the hotel residents. They jumped into the pool shrieking and splashing everyone. I was particularly vulnerable as they threw their backpacks around the space where I was sitting. Eventually a "security" guy came and got about half of them to leave but he refused to deal with the remainder who were still in the pool and whose bags were still around where I was sitting. They eventually left but then some of them returned a short time later and jumped into the pool again. There is no security to prevent people who are not resident from using the pool. I found this threatening and when I tried to complain all the reception staff claimed not to unde
Could do better
Hotel very tired and some of the staff are dreadful. Not prepared to give the guests a glass of tap water
The location is great, the staff are wonderful and the buffet breakfast is the best. That more than makes up for the condition of the facility which clearly needs renovation. I know they are struggling financially and I hope they find the funds to do the necessary renovation. But meanwhile, I would not hesitate to stay there again and highly recommend it. Nothing like sitting on the veranda and watching the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. And Lili's restaurant on the little beach is wonderful.
Lovely position but hotel is showing its age
Dirty
Hotel is run down and in a bad condition
If you are wanting to do beach stay close to cruise and airport this works. Some of the rooms are dated. Whole place needs updated but guess they dont have maintenance dept. Front counter very slow and if you are american not real helpful. Beach area and pool area great. Food is great at both locations but make res. when possible. Breakfast is the most amazing breakfast we ever had at a hotel. Service there was incredible, had a group leaving early for airport opened 1 hour early just for us. Thanks for that! Not much to walk to around property, street dangerous and most everything closes on Sunday on island. Just up the hill an amazing pizza place
Mehhh place, great beach!
The place was dumpy and needs a serious facelift. The only goodbye part was how amazing the beach is.
Hotel needing updating. Service was extremely slow at front desk except for Gladys. Her service was excellent. If you are English speakiing there are some challenges.
Great location , great value. Staff is friendly, Great beach access and the view is priceless
Check in took very long. Staff was unable to find my payment initially and then finally when we were issued a room key the room was not made. Took multiple staff members to finally rectify the issue and give us a new room
Pros: Has direct access to a wonderful beach and a great beachside bar and grill. Views from the hotel asre amazing and has several restaurants on site. Pool was amazing Close to bus stops and a local shopping center if you are in need of provisions Cons: The hotel was dated very dated with minimmal attempts at modernization. Carpets and fabric in the room had a faint smell of cigarettes. Bathroom never truly seleemed clean(Althought the tub and updated shower head were adequate) Overall I enjoyed my stay here, but there could be some improvments overall to the place. Not sure it warranst the price I paid, but sure.
This hotel had everything I needed for my stay. The staff was pleasant even though the language barrier was more than I expected (french vs english). The breakfast was just ok, I think it could use a little more variety, perhaps having choices that are from the island. The building is a bit aged I heard renovations are on the way, inside my room was clean though. The surrounding area had places to eat nearby and a shopping center. The beach attached was lovely, also plenty of parking available. If I stay in Martinique again, I'd come back here.
Very close to FDF.. the property needs some refurbishing
Bathroom has to be updated Only 2 little towels per person The pool is nice but has to updated as well
Nice view, staff OK but rooms very old and furniture from 80`s
few issues
had problems with the internet and only 1 key available for the room.
General appearance is very sad...
This hotel still lives in the past 1980-1990. It seriously needs renovations. Bathroom has a bath tub! Who takes a bath in the south? Where are the tropical tiles showers? Paint on Balconies is peeling off. The whole building needs to be painted. Customer service is not at current level of other modern hotels. They need to learn how to please the clients. We even heard some staff members talking about clients. That's sad.The pool's tiles are tired too and dark and have black stains. If only they would paint inside and outside the hotel , it would give it a fresh look. Then the staff has to learn to smile more and greet better the customers. This was our second visit there. Not sure we will go back next year.
Location and nice pool. That’s it.
Hotel isn’t showing its age. Peeling paint and stained tiles in bathroom, strong urine smell in toilet area. Exhorbitant $31 for breakfast buffet. No free coffee for guests. In a very congested area in the capital, so traffic is a nightmare. But it is right on the water, with a mini sandy beach. Not worth the $135 for the “comfort level” room.
just great perfect view at the terrace for breakfast really well placed to visit the island
NEVER again.
We would NEVER stay here again. The staff was completely unfriendly and unhelpful. There is NOTHING in this area and they straight LIED about the fitness center (ALL of the equipment is broken). We felt completely taken advantage of. Complete waste of money. The one trip we'd never want to repeat again.
Martinique A very different island
Good standard if a bit dated and tired. Really good standard for this island Good rental car link in this hotel which opens up a whole different aspect for getting around this lovely island Very French both the hotel and the island itself Staff very helpful especially the reception good restaurant but could do with more in the local area Great beach club
Nice Hotel, but not to Party
I would rate this hotel a solid 4 out of 5*. It was a good hotel with great views, most front desk staff spoke English, nice clean pool and beach adjacent. If that's all you are looking for I would even say it's 5 out of 5*, but if you are looking for more than just R'n'R this is not the place for you. It is not close to the downtown and taxis are VERY expensive...you can walk there but it's about a 40 minute walk and I'm not a slow walker. There is only about 4 restaurants close by, and a grocery store. Only 1 bar called Lili's beach, no clubs (or discos) and not much shopping. If you are looking for a more fun upbeat vacation I would suggest staying closer to downtown... I also liked the food at the restaurants in town better! 😊
Wonderful
The staff was friendly and helpful and several spoke English. The beach and pool were very nice. If you stay here find a sweet lady in the front lobby named Sylvia Maureen. She is the Conciergerie and was wonderful. She helped us with car rental and gave us information that we needed about the area. I highly recommend her services. The food and service was very good.
Second visit, and there will likely be a third
Hotel La Bataliere is a very good hotel for the price. As long you're not expecting anything super posh, it's a great deal: Good location, good food, friendly staff, clean rooms. When booking, though, be very careful to read up on and to specify what type room you want, as not all have balconies or even electric tea kettles and fridges. Well worth the extra money (and it wasn't much) to have all of the above. More tips:1) Call to confirm (yes, most of the desk staff speak English), as emails aren't always answered.; 2) Bring your own washcloths and an extra beach towel.;3) Change your money elsewhere - bad rate at the desk.; 4) Don't forget your electrical adapter; 5) Check out the Geant Hypermarche - fun! Great pool, the beach is small but very lovely, and Lili's Beach Bar is fantastic. Love the food in the hotel restaurant ( Le Bleu Marine), too. Extra-helpful employees were Jamie at the desk and Alex & Lou Lou (sp?) at the lobby bar, along with all the housekeeping staff (make sure to tip them nightly - they deserve more than the standard, already-included 10%service charge). On the down side, my friend was less than thrilled with the spa services she purchased: The masseuse showed up very late, and the Velodo (waterbike) facility wasn't very clean. Personally, I wish the little basement shop had been open more often for things like postage. Finally, we didn't have a car but many travelers do, so the free parking would be a big plus, as cabs are VERY pricey.
Good hotel with good facilities and lovely sea views from our room. Friendly helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast were very good and good value. Nice pool but we didn’t use it as we loved swimming on the beach by the hotel.
Nice hotel near the beach
Good location, attentive staff building and room needs renovation
Nice pool and hotel ground some comfort issues
The hotel property grounds are very nice but the room is spacious but outdated. The service at the Blue restaurant was dismal. However, the service at Lily's beach bar was really good. The ocean view was kind of nice but the ugly roof top just really turned me off to it. My favorite part about this hotel was the pool. It was warm and provided me with a great night evening swim. The beach was crowded and turned my husband off. The staff did a great job trying to speak English. I appreciated their help. The bed was hard but at least supportive for our backs. The pillows were AWFUL.
Enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our stay.
Clean and nice staff
The service in Batellier was perfect, the staff was really nice and helpful. The hotel have seen better days I’ll say. It really needs a make over, but clean though. The breakfast was great! Not so much too see/do around the hotel, but we rented a car. The restaurant Lily in the beach that belongs to the hotel was really good, nice drinks. The beach is small, and not private as it says. Everybody was welcome, and that was nice.
Used to be a nice hotel Need some improvement work
Used to be a nice hotel Need some improvement work :Painting, furniture, structure, ceilings ...
Nice experience
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. In spite of some reviews complaining of the condition of the hotel, I was comfortable and happy there. The beach water was perfect for me. Housekeeping did a prompt and good job. The restaurant was good. The breakfast was amazingly good. My balcony was close to the sea. There was a shopping area and pizzeria within a short walk. The staff helped out in my arranging a tour and in getting taxis. The only drawbacks were that the food was a bit pricey and I did not get a hot shower often.
Choose another hotel by Pointe du Bout instead...
While making the reservation through Expedia I paid to upgrade to "ocean view" room instead of the standard "partial ocean view", and ended up getting a very disappointing partial ocean view anyway, with obstructed views by a crumbling building/rooftop. After two days the hotel "accommodated" a move to another "partial ocean view" where at least I didn't have to look at the ugly infrastructure, but still not as described/shown on the website pictures and reservation. Hotel restaurant staff only spoke French and menu was only in French, thus it was very difficult to order a meal. I speak English, Spanish and some Italian... Overall the hotel infrastructure is in disrepair, and unless you speak French folks don't appear to be very friendly.
It was for one night before my flight it was very nice
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ocean side location was lovely. Loved the beach restaurant.
Staff is fine, reception staff very helpful and ki
Breakfast not appealing same thing everyday. Since different cultures stays here need to add variety to the breakfast. Stayed her 4days the same breakfast everyday
Idyllic Setting
Nestled next to a bird sanctuary in Schoelcher Martinique on the west coast of the busy island you will find this older, but once grand hotel. Both sunsets and sunrises visible from our covered balcony (which is necessary when the skies open up here). I don't care for air-conditioning, so the cross breeze in my room was welcomed. The casual, but great cuisine of Lili's Beach Restaurant never got old for us. The breakfast buffets were plentiful, regularly visited by the birds. The Casino Mall across the street (take the walking over-pass) provided me with wine and treats and forgotten necessities. My only complaint is that the mini fridge was pretty much a constant 70 degrees and the staff didn't seem to care less as cold drinks and ice are not so much a European thing as it is an American expectation. We took the bus to Fort de France for a visit to the port area and found the hotel to be much brighter, cleaner and open. The beach and the pool are precious...the beach being intimate and the pool over-sized and 12 feet deep. Lots of sun here.
Good place if your not sitting in your room.
open setting as you walk in is really nice. Great lounging areas to view the beauty of the sun and sea. Older hotel, obviously with age comes wear and tear. Could replace the flooring in the rooms, at least the rooms I viewed. Shower worked ok. Good location. Wifi worked rather well all the time which is impressive. Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was good. Lili's Beach Bar is great and the place to go for food and drinks, great staff as well. Parking is very limited. Pool area is nice and well kept. Beach area is nice as well. This is where I will stay again on my next business trip to Martinique.
Well situated, close to the beach and main city
My visit to Martinique was quite nice with visits to the zoo, Trois Islet, museums, Jardin Botanique and lots more. The hotel staff were quite pleasant and very helpful. We did experience some difficulty with the mal functioning of the air conditioning unit in our room. After a few days, the air conditioning unit stopped working. It was very difficult to sleep at nights and that prevented us from having very restful nights. We were miserable in the evening.
Just the beach was good
The hotel needs a lot of improvements, the outlook is terrible, the gym was in general dirty and the machines do not work other than one. The air conditioning did not work either.
Excellent
My stay was excellent, especially the buffet breakfast is to die for :)
Comfortable hotel for a good price
Second trip to Martinique & hoping for at least a third. Would gladly return to this hotel: Big enough to see to most needs but not too big to have character & charm. Room was comfy, clean, & quiet, the water pressure's really good for the Caribbean, most staff speak English & are helpful w/booking cabs, changing $, etc. Gorgeous views from the restaurant, patio bar, pool & beachUseful info: Call & request an ocean view room (emails don't seem to be answered); Bring an extra beach towel (hotel does 1 per guest); Bring your own washcloths (it's a European thing); This hotel has daily housekeeping (many European hotels don't), & it's best to tip on a daily basis as opposed to at the end of your stay; If you like ice be prepared to get it from 1 of the bars (again, a European thing); Hotel has a salon, spa, conference facilities, ample parking, & a very small gift shop; Make sure to try the Friday Creole Buffet.
Decent hotel, close to the beach
The room was very basic, no frills. On first arrival I was slightly disappointed by the room, but actually it was comfortable, clean, had everything that I needed, even a balcony and a sea view! I had a great stay. The language barrier, if you do not speak French can be a little daunting, but the hotel staff on the main reception were mostly friendly. The location of the beach is fantastic. Literally fall out of bed and onto the beach. It is small and at times was rather busy. There are no loungers on the beach, and little shade, but that is when you move to the pool area which has both. The pool was great, clean, again great views and the loungers were comfortable. The views are stunning. Breakfast was great, a good selection. The coffee from the machine was an added bonus and the croissants were delightful. Lily's bar, directly off the beach is a great place too. The staff were very friendly, remembered me warmly on my second day. I recommend the frozen cocktails. Expect to pay approx 40 Euros in a cab to or from the airport.
good for short stay- maybe before or after airport
Busy hotel with lots of people (both guests and locals) around. Nice pool and access to small beach area. Nice beachfront bar and restaurant. The hotel's restaurant is busy for the breakfast buffet which is included in some people's room charges and sometimes is not. I stayed at hotel to be relatively close to Airport for early morning departure flight. It was nice that hotel breakfast starts 6:30am. The restaurant has a great view even if busy and crowded. Hotel lobby is functional but rooms and hallways are alittle dated- but staff appears to "try" to make stay enjoyable- so that helps. Local pizza chain has location of edge of hotel property and it was pretty good. I would stay here again but only if need to be close to airport. There are more relaxing and less hectic places to stay outside of the main city.
Martinique Hotels
Love this hotel-- has a little bit of everything and is very affordable.
Great bar/beach
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful! It seemed like all of the people at the front desk knew some English, which helped as well. The hotel breakfast was great, the two restaurants/bars were lively and fun, and the hotel has a private section of beach in a small cove (crystalline water and with the bar only a few yards away!) It's just as beautiful as in the pictures. The only unfortunate thing is that the wi-fi is terrible and you have to reconnect to it every ten minutes or so, or every time your phone/laptop sleeps, etc., and it's fairly unreliable. The furniture in the room was out-of-date and worn as well, but not uncomfortable or dirty.
Nice hotel with a classic touch
The rooms are comfortable with nice balconies and marble bathrooms. The beach is great, the in-hotel restaurant is good, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful (and also spoke English). We had a great time enjoying the beach, walking to downtown Fort-de-France, and experiencing Martinique for the first (hopefully not the last) time.
Look out for high on property fees
Location is great, good place for time away. We were dissapointed in paying $328 extra in hotel fees for 2 days for 2 people ridiculous , nonetheless we made good use of our time.2
Well situated relaxing hotel
Hotel La Bateliere is great for providing access to Fort de France (40 minute walk, 10 minute drive) and the north end of the island (on the right road), while being a quiet place on its own small peninsular, with great views and its own beach. As others note, the hotel has a 1970s feel, but the rooms are generously large with balconies. The breakfast buffet is outstanding.
VERY disappointed with this hotel. Paint peeling in the bathroom, room had a horrible odor, and the bathroom was dirty. This hotel is in a desperate need of renovation. I will say the staff is friendly and were quite pleasant.
Nice lobby and pool/beach Room needs updating.
Staff and main facilities were nice. The room needs attention. Our mini fridge did not work that well. There was mold around the tub. Carpets were stained in multiple Places. Ceiling had water stains. Was not what we were expecting when we first got there. The hotel was really nice. Lobby is a nice place to relax if your not by the pool or beach. Both restaurants on the premises were very good.
Friendly staff, on the beach and close to airport.
We needed overnight accommodations before flying out in the morning. We were looking for clean, a bar, and close to the airport. This is it! The desk, restaurant and bar staff were all very friendly. We do not speak French, so their excellent English was very helpful. We were greeted at the desk with a drink! The hotel is older, but the lobby, restaurant and bar, and pool areas all looked brand new. The rooms were very nice, too, particularly the bathroom, and everything was pristine clean. The hallways could use a facelift, but this hotel was everything I was seeking and more.
Good pool and free parking. Stops there.
Stayed in a superior room which was described as having a balcony and sea views. What it failed to describe was that I would be looking at the top of their second floor roof and wouldn't have a view of the sea until the horizon. Bathtub was also not there despite it being advertised. It is a very, very basic hotel which would benefit from upgrades but I think that's more the style. The highlights would be the pool (closes at night) and the neighboring beach bar which is at the bottom of the hill. Their beachfront access is really just a small cove with a sandy landing - no umbrellas and no chairs. It's a good place to stay at if you want a nice pool and you have a car to visit other parts of the island.
Flamboyant sea view
Staff was super nice and helpfull. There is a bar (lily's) next to the hotel which is super nice, feet in the sands and tasty cocktail. This is super convenient. Everything in the hotel is quite expensive and the hotel facilities are quite old and would need a lottle freshing up. Our toilets were running for example it was not a catastrophe but for the price you pay you expect to not have this inconvenient. The lift also was working time to time. Same. We were on the 4th floor and a little exercise was good but only if you decide yourself to do it :-). Overall it was good, the view of our room was amazing.
Poor hotel, checked out the day after I checked in
Not good value.. built in the 1970's and does not seem like it has had any maintenance since then. Staff are nice and try to be helpful. Observed poor food hygiene practices, like staff preparing ready to eat food with bare hands. One staff member put her hands in an ice bucket to take a cube of ice to suck. I was supposed to stay 3 days but checked out the day after I checked in and found another much better value hotel.
the worse hotel ive encounter will never recomend
rude bartender the hotel waa built in 1970 and never restaured paint are carpet change since ant in room!!
Close to the beach and town
Experience at Bataliere is always average. Rooms need updating, had a good burger at the restaurant, didn't get to visit Lilliy's bar this time but it is always great there.
Hotel staff was clueless but we had a great stay. The pool and beach were great. It was easy to get to Didier, Fort de France and la Montagne pelee. The hotel is proud of existing since 1970 but I don't think anything has been updated. The breakfast was amazing for the food and the area with beautiful flowers and birds.
This hotel is well located, nice pool, beautiful sea view, very nice beach but the Room, the furniture needs to be renovated, the carpets are dirty, the télévisions are Olg, the bathrooms are ugly. It is a pity because this hotel has enormous potential !
Love the view
Stayed at the deluxe room with sea views. Probably the only thing going for the hotel is that view. Worth the experience. And if you are looking for something close to fort de France it's convenient. Free Breakfast was edible at best. Restaurant closes early opens late. Overall ok experience. I would return.
Our first time in Martinique, it was an adventure.
It was a bit nerve challenging getting in after dark and driving to the hotel. The roads are a little narrow and fast paced. However, the hotel is easy to find. Directions were good. We had a beautiful view every morning and evening, rainbows over the ocean and clouds topping the nearby peaks. Parking was a little thought provoking. You come to the hotel entrance gates and it is blocked by a guard station. They let us in, but then there was no place to park in the hotel area so we had to park in a dirt parking area which I think is for the nearby casino. No problem, really. There was always space there. The breakfast buffet every morning was nice, with a view over the ocean. The staff was always helpful. My wife dropped her camera case over the railing taking a photo. We could see it, but it was near a very steep cliff. We asked the staff if there was a way to retrieve it and a helpful wait staff person walked out the narrow trail to retrieve it!! The hotel staff spoke English well, but there are not a lot of English speaking people on the island in general. However, everyone was very pleasant. As far as we could tell, Lili's Restaurant on the beach below the hotel is not really connected with the hotel. However, we always had pleasant staff waiting on us and good food and service. There's not a lot of other dining nearby (never got to the casino). We did really enjoy Le Black Pearl restaurant in Port of France, not too far away. Staff was great.
I would NOT stay again
Very old and poorly kept hotel. My first 2 nights I stayed in a room in which the phone would randomly ring throughout the day (including at night). In the second day I took a shower and water started dripping from the ceiling. They moved me to a nasty suite. First night I went to shower and saw hairs that did not belong to me in the tub (in addition to all of the mildew). Later on I went to the bathroom and saw a huge cockroach. Killed it and noticed the dripping noise coming from the acc. Yep. The chairs by the pool had stains on them... Overall a run down place. Breakfast buffet was good. The bar downstairs with a man made beach was very pleasant.
Gets the job done
Good hotel. Not very luxury but everything you need
Last night in paradise
We stayed here the last night of our first visit to Martinique as we wanted a location that was close to the airport for our early am departure but still had what we wanted for our last day on the island. This location met all those. Great little beach area with water sports and a bar/restaurant (Lili's). Beautiful pool overlooking the sea and the dinner (ala carte) was very good. The rooms are dated but well maintained and clean.
Affordable comfortable no frills hotel
I took my partner to Martinique for her birthday on a surprise weekend getaway. The island is beautiful and this hotel was affordable. The front desk staff was very pleasant and I appreciated that they were fluent in English (because I am not fluent in French). The room was nice. We had a decent view of water (but not the beach). The bed was comfortable enough though I don't like how when a hotel advertises a king sized bed it is really two twin sized beds put together so you feel the seam/line in the middle. There was gum on our bedding when we arrived which was a fair oversight but I didn't enjoy how our bathroom smelled like urine on arrival and during out entire stay. Wifi logged you out every time you left the hotel so was a little annoying because each time you had to put in the passcode. Ate at the hotel's restaurant the first night and the food (buffet style) was just alright. The bar/restaurant below the hotel on the beach had pretty good food and really great drinks (try the ti punch). Overall, not a bad stay considering we were out exploring the island most of the time we were visiting.
it had its own private beach that was 5 minute walk. it was great snorkeling. not too crowded. away from the touristic stuff. crystal clear water.soft sand. sunset view. a balcony to watch the sunset every day. it's french speaking place, with some english and spanish. regardlsess, you find a way to communicate for the most part. i didn't dig the rock-hard beds, but the room was roomy and had a balcony and the beach was AMAZING!!!!
Gorgeous view, basic accommodations
I stayed at the Hotel La Bateliere for a quick three day getaway on my own. I was looking for some sun and relaxation and Hotel La Bateliere was sufficient. Here's a breakdown: Location- I never explored outside of the hotel (except for a quick trip across the street to the grocery store), but there was a casino very close by. The hotel is right next to a small, public beach with a restaurant. You can pay for a lounge chair and beverages or just set up on the beach for free. There's also a pool at the hotel. Staff- Staff at the hotel and at the restaurant nearby were nice. Remember that this is a French colony so French is the primary language spoken. Not everyone spoke English. Also, restaurant service was laid back and could be considered slow by American standards, but it's just very casual. Room- My room was probably my least favorite part of the hotel. It smelled a little stale when I first arrived, but I turned the AC on and it was fine after a while. The bed was NOT comfortable. It actually looked like I was just sleeping on the box spring and they forgot to put a mattress on, but apparently this was how it was supposed to be set up. The room and bathroom were clean (hand-held shower, very European). The view was fantastic! My balcony overlooked the ocean with no other rooms blocking the view. There was working AC and a TV. Overall, the Hotel La Bateliere was good enough. I was looking for a place with a beach and that's what I got!
This was a grand hotel when built in the 70's
The entry, lower level pool and restaurant are absolutely beautiful. The staff is mostly very kind and make every effort to communicate in English -- remember you need to make an effort to communicate in French. The restaurant serves excellent food. The rooms are clean but VERY worn. It is a shame to see what was once very lovely in such disrepair. I hope management will invest some money to refurbish. Management should also be sure to have someone on staff that can help with water activities and tours. We had to do a lot of snooping to find the few things we did.
Save your money! Hotel is very outdated!
Horrible experience. No irons in the rooms , hotel needs major renovations!
Decent hotel, nice pool and calm clear beach
Ants are real problem here. Everything was just okay. It didn't help that I had a sucky view. The staff was very helpful and friendly, though.
Nice hotel with private beach and beach bar
Nice hotel but has to be updated. But staff was helpful and friendly.
Nice hotel overlooking the sea and good price.
Room was very nice, comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the balcony, view of the sea, pool and small beach area. The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choices. The food was very good.
solo trip
It was my first solo trip. The hotel needs some updating but overall nice hotel. The restaurant has tasty food
It's decent for the price I paid
Cons: First, I found out the last evening of my stay that I could have had free breakfast every morning. I was there for 5 days. The beds are horrible and only sleep on them when you are extremely tired; the beds are not good for those with back problems. I slipped several times in their hallways because the type of floors are slippery when it rains. The restaurant is ok but DO NOT order the tuna. For some reason they cooked the tuna and it looked like cat food. To be fair, I didn't have any misconceptions about the decor of the rooms based on the pictures and they are EXACTLY how the picture shows them. There is a fridge in the room but nothing to heat up food so don't bring anything that needs heating up. Pros: The staff is EXCELLENT. They did provide wonderful customer service and were very patient answering the millions of questions one of my traveling companions asked. The location of the hotel is a 15 minute ride (with little or no traffic) from the airport, which was ideal. I didn't have a chance to go to their casino but it's a short walk; less than 5 minutes. There is also a mini mall across the roundabout...however, the driving there is crazy so I would be afraid to walk there. The lobby is very beautiful and view of the ocean is beautiful also. The pictures do not lie! Even though I did not need one, the hotel provided converter plugs, which was definitely a great touch. Also, the soaps and lotions they provide in the bathroom were surprisingly nice
Nice hotel in nice district
Excellent food at restaurant. Room was very nice. Quiet and safe safe settings. Nice man-made beach.
Nice pool, lively bar in the evening close to beach, 20 min transfer to Fort-de-France airport (30 eur), large hotel
Outdated but very clean, great breakfast
I stayed at hotel La Bateliere over the Christmas holidays. The rooms are spacey and clean and despite the need of renovation, everything in the hotel functioned well. The breakfast had everything you could think of and meals of the restaurant were delicious, not gourmet, but generally very good. Large lobbys and pool area offer great view over the bay. The hotel seems to be a popular venue for local wedding receptions and volume of the music can easily be heard in rooms. Location of this hotel is good, espacially if you want to explore the island by car. Little beach at hotel is good for children but it is too small and boring for adults, especially if you stay longer than two days.
Not nice
of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip to Martinique, this was the worst by far. Our first room smelled like mold so we asked to be moved, which they did with no problem, except our second room smelled like vomit. At that point we gave up. If not for its relative proximity to the airport we would have left. It was sad to spend our last night in a hotel like that, but it made coming home to our clean, comfortable house less difficult.
Close to airport
This hotel is a close drive to the airport. Staff are very pleasant but the hotel really is in dyer need of a full guy renovation. The pool being next to the dining area isn't ideal. The hallways and inside the rooms, are just so dated that it made me feel depressed being there. I had a very nice sized room but the hotel didn't make good use of the size, with the decor and just having two small twin size beds. The balcony was large but had a horrible view of the old run down hotel building.
Needs improvement
The hotel is in a great location, but can use some work in the hospitality department. They also need to consider incoming flight times before giving away rooms. The bald concierge with glasses at the front desk overnight, was very rude and unaccommodating considering they gave my room away and didn't tell me. He claimed that I took to long to say something (I got in at 930-10p and went straight to the restaurant before they closed, then reported the issue). Then, he offered to put me in a room, but that I'd have to change again the next day because it was already assigned to someone else. When checked in, they should've mentioned that my room was given away and ASK if it's ok that I get something different. The rooms were not up to par for their rating. but the ocean view helped.

The images of the property when i booked was nice, but actually getting to the property its not worth the money, its run down, the room is old, the breakfast is the same everyday, the pool need to be clean at the bottom, there was no water from an entire day, had to use buckets to flush the toilets, could not shower
