All staff were very helpful & courteous. This is a jungle, room was clean but had strong musty smell. Yat provided a dehumidifier that completely resolved the issue (had to empty every 8 hours). Breakfast was fresh & delicious! Lots of local flavor as well as more western favorites. There are no walkable restaurants, but uber was 3-5$ to most of La Fortuna area. Pool area needs update but water was clean & the few kids that we saw there enjoyed it. Hot springs where very nice, cloudy water but very enjoyable & great way to end long days of hiking the area. Had dinner there one night, it was fine but preferred dinners in La Fortuna. Great price for a very pleasant stay!

We loved our short stay at The Kokoro. Would stay for an extended time if we were staying in the area longer. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ate onsite and enjoyed our meals. The natural spa on-site was a plus. The grounds are beautiful and full of wildlife. We were able to see frogs, sloths and many birds right on the grounds, with the friendly assistance from the groundskeeper. Our lodge has a great view of the volcano, right from our front window.

Beautiful property and kind staff

Property is very well located and the grounds are pretty with lots of wildlife. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast and pools were nice. Downfalls are the very uncomfortable bed.

It is in a beautiful setting. Room are spacious bungalows with a view on Arenal volcano. I loved that they had their own hot springs. Breakfast was so fresh and tasty. Cooffe and water are available all day long. Very nice and accommodating staff.

Beautiful property! We saw so much wildlife here it was amazing. The staff was friendly and the food in the restaurant was delicious! We wish we had more time here and will definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed the hot springs on site. Hotel suite/cabin is very dated and needs to be updated if they are going to charge $200 CDN per night.

I would suggest improving the breakfast and remodeling the in room restrooms.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Kokoro in La Fortuna! The location was perfect, with stunning views and easy access to all the adventures in the area. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the hotel itself was beautifully maintained with a relaxing atmosphere. However, we did experience some minor issues—there were electricity outages in the morning, which was a bit inconvenient, and we had a couple of unexpected critter visitors. That said, given the tropical setting, it wasn’t too surprising. Overall, we still had a great experience and would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of La Fortuna with great hospitality!

Peace and tranquility in a hidden sanctuary.

We were very pleased with the location, staff, and area surrounding Hotel Kokoro. The grounds are so beautifully maintained and it is like a sanctuary. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The meals were very good and we really enjoyed our stay.

A paradise property within short, easy driving or Uber distance from the main town area of La Fortuna. The property feels like an oasis. It was a great place to walk around or just hang out within between our scheduled activities. Wonderful staff, great free breakfast spread, and a great opportunity to have a hot springs experience without going somewhere else and paying extra. I will book this place again without hesitation if we ever return to La Fortuna.

The staffs are so friendly and helpful. The landscaping is excellent. The special treat is that one of the staffs shows us the baby sloth and different frog species. We like the buffet breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back again.

We stayed at Hotel Kokoro over New Years and had a wonderful time. The staff were incredibly helpful. The gardener showed us sloths, monkeys, and frogs and cut us fresh coconuts. The sweet front desk agent always greeted us with the biggest smile and recommended and booked our activities. He also hosted karaoke at the New Years Eve party (he has a beautiful voice) which everyone loved, especially our kids. The grounds are very natural, not as developed and bare as other, fancier resorts. The hot springs are wonderful and our kids loved the pool. There were friendly travelers from all over and we loved the kind atmosphere. The cabins are rustic but the beds were comfortable and the AC worked well. All in all, highly recommend.

Easy access to downtown.

Overall excellent, but especially the private hot spings on the grounds.

The hotel grounds are interesting with garden and some birds, however, the rest is terrible in needs of renovation. Room are very old, dirty, smelly, light bulbs does not work etc. The food it's limited. The management seems to be authoritarian towards the staff. Worst hotel in our entire trip

Heaven for wild animal lovers! Don't miss!

If you love spotting wild animals up close, you must stay here. During our 5 night stay, we spotted a sloth 3 meters from us on the tree (and another time further on the tree), countless interesting insects, and every night we visited our 'secret spot' to observe several red eyed tree frogs right in front of our eyes. Yes, every night they were there! Check out the photos taken at the hotel. Other than the animals, the grounds are just so lush and pretty, kept well but in a natural way. The three natural hot springs were very enjoyable too. Our room was super spacious, more of a rustic feel but we loved it. Last but not least, every hotel staff member was so nice and friendly to us, we felt sad to leave and definitely want to go back one day :)

Amazing experience! Felt like we had our own private hot springs! We drove past all the super crowded big resorts & were so grateful to be staying at little Kokoro. Great location central to everything, free breakfast which was good & dinner was delicious.. get the fajitas! Thank you !!!!

Great view. Beautiful garden around the property. The hotel has three hot springs, which is very convenient to soak in after hiking for a day. The restaurant is reasonably priced.

Situated in beautiful natural surroundings, woke up one day by howler monkey cries, saw beautiful birds flew by room, watched a sloth moving down the tree while soaking in relaxing hot springs, relaxing massage while listening to nature sound was heavenly. Service was good, comfortable room. The only regret we have is getting sick after having dinner on site.

Great value! Exceptional staff! Area is really beautiful. Great breakfast (buffet style), dinner option on spot. The pearl of the hotel is the hot springs (mineral water, pumped daily from 350m deep). Much nicer (and warmer) than the warm river options around. I will definitely stay here again, if returning to Arenal area.

These grounds are ahhh-mazing! Lots of birds, plants, and wildlife with volcano backdrop. Staff very nice and accommodating. Springs and trails sublime.

The staff at Hotel Kokoro were pleasant, and accommodating. When we had a tour departing before breakfast opened they made 3 to go bags for us to take the next morning. If you’re looking for a quiet place that’s on the pick up list for day tours and not in the middle of the tourist area, Kokoro is great.

This place was INCREDIBLE. The views were stunning and there is a 15 minute walking trail that makes you feel like youre in the middle of the jungle. Staff was very friendly and the food at the restaurant delicious. The mineral pools were only have full but it was nice and were included in the stay. Id skip the more expensive resorts and go here for a quaint but still top teir cabin lodging experience.

Beautiful grounds, clean and great food. Staff was very friendly. Great communication. Stayed late so we could check in (due to a six hour flight delay). Room was comfortable with a great view of the volcano! Easy to find and close to all the attractions in La Fortuna. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Kokoro is a serene and beautiful place to stay, a great hub for enjoying the outdoor adventures of Fortuna. The property has natural hot springs, a lovely pool, and refreshing outdoor dining area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable; only the lighting could be better. The staff are so kind and helpful! The location is just outside the hubub of the town, yet convenient to all you could want to do. We highly recommend Kokoro if you are in the Fortuna area!

Our family spent a wonderful 4 days at Hotel Kokoro. The staff are wonderful, so kind and helpful. The pool was great and it was nice to have the hot springs on site. The grounds are also lovely and our 7 year old loved seeing all the wildlife.

Beautiful property grounds

Beautiful and well maintained grounds. The complimentary full breakfast buffet offered a variety of choices and was delicious. The mineral hot springs were very relaxing. Spacious cabin like rooms. Great view of Arenal Volcano. Close to downtown La Fortuna. I would highly recommend Kokoro.

The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. Peggy Tam the manager was very friendly, cordial and service oriented. The same can be said about her staff. Truly a pleasure to deal with all. BTW, the grounds are beautiful.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Kokoro - great view of the volcano and there was a hot spring too although not sure why on second day the water was very low and stagnant. Breakfast was good. Restaurant was only open for reservations so you need to plan ahead. The surprise.of our stay - there was a sloth in the trees by the pool!

Amazing hot springs , beautiful property , very relaxing , friendly staff

Property is beautiful and lush but rustic and a bit run down in the rooms. Our room’s shower leaked profusely water all over floor, cracked tiles, bugs everywhere. There was only 2 outlets that could support a phone charger and laptop. Overpriced for the condition. But grounds were pretty and lush.

Absolutely amazing, we didn’t want to leave, great location, and the best worker’s especially the front reception, they were so great with advice and booking tours! The massage area is like out of a movie, listening to the rain and wildlife! The restaurant staff and food was great! It’s a smaller resort which we loved, the grounds are gorgeous and full of wildlife!

What a hidden gem! Quintessential rustic cabins tucked in the forest. Excellent location - quiet & secluded, but not too far from La Fortuna. The staff were super helpful & friendly, and the atmosphere was great. If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten path and full of hospitality - this is it!

The room was spacious. Great bathroom. Refrigerator. And we loved the grounds, hot tubs, pool, pavilion for dining and seeing the animals, birds, frogs. Everyone was so friendly.

The birds and animals are outstanding

We stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed it. We had a great view of Arenal from our little patio and the property had a nice little walk with some wildlife and we enjoyed that. The mineral waters were also very enjoyable, it’s not running water but soaking in the pool after a day of hiking was so relaxing. The surrounding of the mineral waters are lovely. I also enjoyed the massage I got on side the masseuse was very pleasant and very good.

Beautiful property, pure bliss here!

What a treat - Morning views of Arenal Volcano, small hike through the forest, sloths on property and hot springs. The staff were so friendly and available for all of our questions! The cabin was perfect for our stay and we spent more time on this property than we had during the rest of our stay in Costa Rica.

Ants and Critters

Terrible experience. From ants of all sizes on the bathroom counter . To dead critters in the shower . Then a surprise bug crawling . The side of the bed frame was questionable. I am not sure if it’s is from mold or dust . Would not recommend .

The property was really beautiful, we saw so many beautiful birds and other animals. The staff was very pleasant and the food at the restaurant was good!

Amazing hotel. Hot springs were lovely. Hotel staff were very friendly. Near the yoga area there is a frog pond that comes to life in the evening. A huge hit with the kids. Hotel staff also pointed out sloths and different birds. Morning buffet was delicious. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. We would stay here again for sure!

Fantastic resort, highly recommended!

Our stay at Koroko was PHENOMENAL! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. At check in it was my partners birthday which was the reason for our travel the receptionist noticed. We dropped off our things and went to explore Fortuna, when made it back to our room the receptionist was so kind to leave a small birthday gift for him. That is not the reason for such a high rating. The view of the volcano from our room was breathtaking, the complementary breakfast was very fresh and delicious, the amenities were much better than 3 other resorts we visited during our stay and the cabin we stayed in was great. The only complaint was that our room could have had some minor repairs. I'm petrified of anything creepy crawly and due to the lack of repairs on the bottom of the doors or even the roof they were able to invade my space which made me feel uneasy and sleep comfortably. Besides that, we would 100% return if given the chance, the price we paid was perfect, the location was safe, and you can see the grounds at the resort are carefully managed all day everyday. I would highly recommend this location for your stay simply for the food, views and amenities.

This property was beautiful and very well kept. We had the most beautiful view of the volcano from our balcony. It was so peaceful to wake up drink coffee in the balcony while listening to nature sounds and my views is the volcano. Then go jump into a natural hot springs. The restaurant was delicious

Exceeded expectations

We loved this hotel! 12 minute drive to town. Worth it for the fantastic gardens and scenery. We saw Toucans, a sloth, and countless birds while on property. The pool and hot springs are fantastic and breakfast was great. Rooms are a bit older but everything was clean enough, especially the bed and the bathroom. Very helpful staff. Would stay here again. Also excellent volcano views!

We loved our stay at Kokoro. It is an older resort with 3 hot spring areas. The spring is 300 meters underground so the water is pumped up in the early morning. This makes the first pool extremely hot but the 2d and3d ok. Later in the day the first pool is perfect. There are several guest cabins ours was spacious with a view of the volcano from our bed! Restaurant on site served buffet breakfast - included but you could also purchase lunch or dinner. The meals were simple Costa Rican fare and good.

A beautiful property with kind and knowledgeable staff, hot springs on site, and many creatures to see! Close to nature and adventure tours and private cabins also afford a quiet and private visit. Thanks for a great visit, Hotel Kokoro!

Wonderful hotel. Very much feels like resort. Beautiful flowers and ground. Hot pools were great. Only drawback - During our stay there was very loud construction next to our cabin all day.

The property is absolutely gorgeous! You couldn't get a better view of the volcano and the other landscaping is absolutely stunning. The staff was hospitable, patient, and knowledgeable. The food was also delectable and our shuttle drivers found the hotel rather easily, so transport to other places around the island was simple.

La zona en que está situado es bonita, tiene 3 piscinas de agua termal y 1 fría. 2 de las piscinas termales son demasiado calientes y casi imposibles de usar. Al hotel le hace falta una remodelación total de las instalaciones, se nota viejo y le falta mantenimiento. Por lo que se pagó en una noche, se podría conseguir un mejor hotel.

We loved the natural feel of the gardens and area where our room was (no 20) and saw so many animals and birds while staying. Although the rooms are rustic, we had no problems with insects. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the gardeners would happily show you the animals that were around, including the sloths. The only things we think could be improved would be more furniture on the veranda, so 3 of us could sit together and more furniture around the pool. We would definitely stay again.

Highly recommend staying here, very accommodating place

Our room was big and we loved the architecture and view out to Arenal. Unfortunately, the bed sagged in the middle and the fitted sheet kept popping off the mattress topper. Also the lock on our door broke which meant we couldn't get into the unit for over an hour-- we were surprised they didn't at least offer to buy us a drink! Also, the hot springs aren't nice. But the restaurant is very convenient since we didn't want to go out at night and there are no other places within walking distance. Service was slow and the menu is very basic but hey, it's Costa Rica! Overall we were happy with the location and kitties were very happy to be petted.

The wildlife on the property, the tranquility of the surrounding forest, the relaxing thermal pools, the nature trail, incredible breakfast, friendly staff, gorgeous cabin, large spacious bathroom. Loved this slice of tropical paradise! 3 thermal pools with differing temperatures made it more comfortable for each of my family members to have their prefered temperature.

It’s quite the drive from the airport but man is it worth it. The rooms, grounds, food, staff (everyone and everything) was incredible. I would stay there again anytime

Excellent stay!

Kokoro was a great experience! My husband and I were met with great customer service from Yat the front desk employee who speaks English and Spanish. The rooms are seperate cabins which makes it feel more private. The room was clean, had a coffee pot, small fridge, 4 free bottles of water, air conditioning, ceiling fans, a safe and a tv with many channels with youtube and can add your Netflix account. The bathroom had a large shower, hot water, blow dryer, small travel size bottles of lotion, shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush and tooth paste. The grounds of the Kokoro were well maintained. The bonus was 3 hot spring pools they emptied daily all varying in different tempetures. The free hot breakfast was good. All the staff from the lady who ran the resturant to the grounds keeper. We saw 2 sloths, a beautiful tucan, many species of birds and a couple of cats. We loved all the animals. I did have a massage with Angelica and I was sadly disappointed. She seemed like she was in such a hurry to finish the massage and quickly ran to a waiting car after I thanked her and gave her tip. All in all our experience was great. We liked it so much we stayed another day. Not far from town with great views of the volcano. I would highly recommend and would love to go back and stay at Kokoro.

Great location near Baldi and Ecotermales hot springs. The rooms are very dated but clean and comfortable. A great bargain in this location.

There is nothing not to love about this property. The location is perfect, the people are friendly and helpful, and the resort is absolutely beautiful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone visiting the La Fortuna area of Costa Rica.

Stayed 8 days with Hotel Kokoro and it was absolutely wonderful. Saw a diversity of guests: young & elderly couples, families with young kids, and international guests. The staff was friendly and kind. Everyone we interacted with spoke multiple languages including English. Every day there was maintenance of the property, ensuring cleanliness of the pools, tidiness of the walkways, and attention to the beautiful landscaping. This hotel was really charming because the lodging is nestled into the natural environment of the surrounding rainforest/jungle. There is a clear and epic view of Mount Arenal and it's possible to book a room with a patio facing it. Our stay included breakfast every morning. Each meal for the duration of our stay included some variation of eggs, beans & rice, plantains, and cooked vegetables. Pancakes, bread, butter, juice, and water were also served every morning with fresh fruit such as pineapple, watermelon, and papaya. Overall it was very satisfying (buffet style). The last week of January leading into the first week of February, there were mild rainy days. Most of the rain fell at night, but the temps stayed above 75 degrees in the daytime. Very pleasant. The sunny days were perfect for poolside and walking the jungle trail on the property. As for the hot springs... they appear an unusual color from the other springs you may encounter in La Fortuna, however they were very pleasant to use and didn't seem to have anything wrong with them.

Great relaxing location with lots of wildlife

We had a wonderful stay. We loved the hot spring and all the wildlife on the hotel campus. The hotel owner and her family were so kind and helpful when our shuttle unexpectedly canceled on us, arranging for a ride to get us to San Jose.

Beautiful hotel, all the surroundings is just amazing with amazing views of the volcano Arenal, but what really makes the difference is the people who works here. The service is amazing. They are very friendly and will go above and beyond to accommodate your needs. A big shout to Yath and Alexa, they were the best host I have ever had. They treat you like family. Please don’t hesitate, and book this hotel.

Wonderful property in a serene location

The property itself is very beautiful with lots of birds in the area. We enjoyed the mineral pools on both nights of our stay. And the staff is very kind. Would recommend!

It is an amazing scenic family managed property. Staff is very friendly and super nice. Free breakfast is excellent. Lunch and dinner options are limited for vegetarians and vegans but the few available are very tasty. It is a full rain forest scenery. It did rain every morning while we were there and it was so peaceful and serene. The room is cabin style room so you are kind of with nature. I was not a fan but my daughter loved it. She son learned she can't leave for lying around or and will also share the food. Only suggestion i would make is to improve the tourism options. We did not get many options for things to do there. We did arenal mountain hike and visited mystik mountain but did not even know about the waterfall so did not do that. Maybe having a guide to plan our stay would help. Though there were things we missed doing... Overall we had a very relaxed stay.
