Absolutely first rate

Spectacular hotel right where all the fun is. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Everything was immaculate, lovely touches everywhere. We were traveling with our large dog and had not noticed a weight limit, he is 3x their limit. Not a problem, they have a bigger bed. Amazing.

I throughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. Even though it is a little on the expensive side I can say it is worth it. From the moment you walk in, until the moment you leave the staff is taking care of you. From helping you with your bags, to parking your car, and making sure you have everything you need. They were very patient with me as I tried to practice my Spanish and took pity on me when I struggled and switched to English. But the hotel keeps its Spanish charm with modern amenities. I didn’t eat in the restaurant because I wanted to experience the city of Salamanca, which I absolutely adore. It was easy for me to do that as I was in the city center close to all the action and once I parked my car I was able to walk to everything. I would recommend that anyone stay here and take in its charm. The room I stayed in was very nice and well kept and a beautiful view of the garden and monastery. The bed was not your typical small European bed but a queen, I had nice furniture, table, nightstands, desk and a spacious bathroom with toilet, bidet, and a shower with kicking hot water. The bathroom also has a heater to keep you warm if needed. If I had a complaint it would be that the room gets a little warm if I didn’t open the windows which was fine for the winter since there were no bugs, but the birds were very loud at night. Lastly, the city of Salamanca is worth the 2hr drive from Madrid. It is one of the cleanest cities I’ve ever visited, safe & teaming with life.

Total luxury. A beautiful oasis in the middle of Salamanca. The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The room was fantastic with high standards on all facilities. We found breakfast and dinner exceptional in taste and service. One of our best nights away and we travel a lot.

Nice hotel and very conveniently located

Stayed at the hotel for two nights on the way to the UK from southern Spain. Lovely old building and very well maintained. The reception staff were very nice and helpful and gave us a map on arrival pointing out all the attractions. The hotel is very central and 7 minutes walk to Plaza Mayor. The hotel does have outside (no cover) car parking. Spaces are limited but this is managed well by the hotel staff to ensure space is maximised. The only negative is the pool area. There was a serious lack of sun loungers and a lot of them were damaged and in need of replacing. For a five star hotel this was very disappointing. The pool also needed some maintenance work.

Friendly reception staff and cleaners but was appalled by the 55 euro charge for ad hoc breakfasts up from 22 euros in advance. As we are a coffee only couple re breakfast we had to order from reception and the service was slow. The hotel was beautiful and historic and conveniently located but the swimming pool was out of action and whilst the restaurant was fair it was not exceptional. We stayed for four nights and the hotel appeared to have a private party with music disturbing our sleep past midnight

Very centrally located. City center is minutes away by walking. Parking is somewhat limited, so arrive early for best spot.

This is one of the best properties we have stayed at in Spain. I would strongly recommend it. The staff are wonderful and it has on site parking and is close to everything.

Everything was wonderful! From when we got in we just had a great conversation with the front desk. Our room was very quiet and very clean. We loved everything about it. We will be returning to visit.

A hotel in a beautiful historic building. Fantastic staff. The surrounding town is gorgeous. Perfect for a few days stay or travelling through en route to and from UK. Also dog friendly which we really appreciate.

An excellent 5* stay.

Stunning former convent in the very picturesque old town of Salamanca. Service and breakfast were excellent. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. My only complaint is that we were charged €31 for breakfast when the Hotels.com reservation said the breakfast was included. We had left the hotel before I realised this. That said, I would certainly recommend it and return.

This hotel is really unique: it’s in an old, old monastery. The location is perfect for walks to the sights and to the plaza mayor. We opted for the buffet breakfast, which is a great value. The restaurant is in the basement, but has a gorgeous patio. The service and food were very high quality. Look no further - great property.

Wow probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. So helpful and even made sure to charge our electric car overnight so we had plenty of charge for the onward journey. Super comfortable beds, lovely rooms. And the whole place smelt amazing! Wish we had booked more nights here, and will definitely come back to Salamanca

A beautiful building in a great spot in the old town where we had a lovely room overlooking the cathedral. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful friendly and professional. We had a wonderful experience all round thoroughly enjoying the tasting menu for dinner which we felt was good value and of excellent quality. Room spacious and comfortable breakfast excellent tasty choices. Catered for gluten free. Would highly recommend this hotel

A wonderful place to stay!

What an amazing hotel to stay in. From arrival in the car park to leaving the service and welcome was impeccable. Facilities were excellent as was the meal in the Munje restaurant. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer, The hotel was also conveniently situated for walking to the centre of Salamanca and all sight seeing. A 5 star experience. Thank you to all the team at the hotel.

This is a great centrally located hotel with comfortable rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is excellent for both dinner and breakfast.

The hotel is beautiful, it has a great location for exploring Salamanca also. The restaurant is also very good, but lacking in vegetarian options. The room was comfortable, spacious and has everything you’d need. Would definitely try to stay here if revisiting Salamanca

Great hotel well situated for exploring Salamanca. The staff were excellent and attentative. Rooms very comfortable although marred by ineffectual air-conditioning which made it difficult to sleep during the hot August nights.

This is a wonderful hotel. Warm and accommodating staff, super decor, great food. It has the benefit of being close to everything and frankly a magnificent location in Salamanca. The parking is fun but the Concierge team deal with this effortlessly so don’t get frustrated .. just relax and enjoy the scenery.

We enjoyed our stay at Palacio Hospes de San Esteban tremendously! Great service the minute you walk in. Staff anticipate your needs. The location and hotel’s facilities are ideal for a luxury visit to the charming city of Salamanca.

Somewhat disappointed

Somewhat disappointed. We thought the hotel had more access to the courtyard but visual only. The walk up the driveway was very steep and rough . The overall star based on other priced the hotels would be 4 star maybe. The breakfast room was beautiful and the food quite good.

It is a very nice hotel. My only complaint is that the airconditioner was set to hot and we couldn't change the settings from the control in our room. So we had to switch it off and have the windows open. Also would have liked to dine in the hotel restaurant, but the start time was 8.30pm, which is very late for us. So we went out.

Family Visit to a wonderful city

We liked staying at this hotel, it was well placed, clean and a classical design so rooms and surrounds had character. The hotel was an eclectic set of floors and corridors, which worked well the kids loved the layout, the public spaces were well decorated and made the place very inviting, the beds also were comfortable. We stayed as a family of 4. The downside of the hotel would be its high price for breakfast, it was good quality food and had nice people serving, the question is value for money, when kids eat a few pieces of fruit and pancakes why does the price need to match a dinner of steak. Connecting rooms would also be a nice feature to have available for families.

Classy Hotel

A classy hotel in a fantastic location. Lovely staff. Parking is another thing. If you do not get there early you will park a ways away. We were there from Saturday to Sunday and the lot was not manned on Sunday. After a little bit of messing around with the hotel and a call to the garage owners, we were able to leave on Sunday.

The staff were very pleasant but unfortunately there was no gym on the property, instead a work out room across the road above a function room with very limited equipment and no towels, water etc.

This hotel is very well located, close to the old, beautiful part of the city with the University, convents, etc. The pool and grounds are extraordinary - even if you don't go in the water, it is a lovely, well-maintained area with a great view. The service was excellent. As is often the case at properties in historic town centers, the rooms are on the small side, but well appointed - and mine had great views of the cathedral and Convento San Esteban. A breakfast buffet is served in a gorgeous space with old stone arches. This was a very high priced hotel, however, with 5 stars, so I maintain very high standards. My room was at the end of a hallway. Directly outside my room was the door to the service area and elevator. That door was always left open. So the first thing I saw *every* time I arrived or left my room were stacks of dirty room service plates and other service items. This was the case at all times of day and night. It was simply how they run the hotel, and seemed to be the case on every floor. As a result of these types of issues, my general sense was that of staying at a lower-end hotel than one I was paying top dollar for. I rate this a 4 star hotel at 5 star prices.

The building history is , the setting and vista is stunning and unique. The decor and quality of furnishings were superb. The gardens and outside pool were beautifully maintained. The staff were first class in all respects.

This is a beautiful old building that is updated and has retained all the charm. the staff are helpful, the rooms are lovely, the grounds beautiful. It has parking on site. Our stay here added to our positive experience of Salamanca.
