Excellent staff and employees. Getting everything needed as requ6
I booked this room online could’ve had the room $100 cheaper if I had contacted the hotel directly, the photos advertised online were definitely not what was available at the hotel, expecting a high end hotel with harbour views and parking and parking is not included, costs an additional $58 we stayed two nights- no information in the rooms on hotel service or places to eat, they were in the middle of renovations, only ice available on odd numbered floors, we arrived to our room and immediately requested another room, we felt like we were in Hotel 6 - they moved us to a different room which was slightly better. Our friends stayed at The Barrington for much much cheaper, we thought we were going to have better accommodation based on the website and online booking site then we were not able to cancel so we stayed and made the best of it! We had a great time at the Casino
An overall excellent experience
That staff were awesome There is construction going on in the building which sounded like someone was jackhammering into our room…not much you can do about that. After travelling from the west coast and the 4 hour time change that was a little startling to say the least. Other than that we would definitely stay there again
Very serene
I liked being close to hospital since I was there for medical reasons
Woke up at 7:45 to jack hammers outside my room
Front desk staff were excellent, the rooms were clean and comfortable, would definitely recommend
Very nice people, terrible room.
-Heater in the room did not work -Booked a harbour view did not receive as shown nor harbour view in general. - Both receptionist we had delt with were perfect.10/10 coming and going. Pleasant polite and informative. -ordered coffee the morning we left from another amazing staff lady working the bar/grill 10/10. -Long story short on the off season it is a cheap place to lay your head down, if you’re looking to explore downtown, with a great staff. I either got the lemon room of the hotel or it is in need of some great maitience.
Property under construction, staff had no control over the time or location of the work. Hard to sleep and couldn’t do my own work in my room. Late nights with child at hospital with no rest with the noise
Construction outside Drive in is very complicated Elevators not working well
Awesome place to stay
at 108$ cad a Night I paid for a king premium suite, the location alone is a great deal. Attached to Scotia Square in the heart of downtown with great access to public transportation is great for incoming travelers wanting to explore the city. Room service is at request or comes every 3 days but everything was clean and nothing interrupted the stay. The only con was loud construction of something on a roof beneath my room in one of the mornings but nothing beyond that. would stay again at these deals
Great Team!
We had a great stay! The front desk team was friendly and knowledgeable. In fact, all the staff we ran into were pleasant and friendly! Room was a little dated, as we saw with the wrinkled carpet, but the cleanliness more than made up for it. The only strange thing we noticed was that the bath tub was very narrow. We had breakfast at the restaurant on-site after we checked out and it was delicious!! The staff there were just as friendly as the front desk team. Also, the hotel is soon under renovation, so we look forward to coming back and seeing the updates in the future.
Thank you for hosting us, it was a comfortable stay and you were close to the Scotia bank area a which was perfect! Parking was easy!
Great location with friendly staff.
Did not like parking signage to hotel was poor
Staff is very professional, friendly and accommodating
It was a great stay, besides the elevators taking forever. Old and out dated but good parking and easy access to Scotia square and casino!
Easy to walk around to the Water Front Casino and lots of good restaurants near Hotel
Great stay!
Great stay! Could use a few updates to make it more modern - rooms that we had could’ve also used cosmetic finishings (ie trim on, caulking done on flooring etc)
Parking
Good location downtown Halifax. Within walking for sports, shopping and the waterfront.
Very clean.staff very friendly and helpful
Overnight from airport
Entering the Hotel, it did not have automatic doors. Hard to manage when your hands are full. Woman at reception was very nice. Room was good. Quite clean. Asked for a quiet room and it backed onto the road. There is no room service. You have to pay for parking. Bed was not very comfortable. You get what you pay for- nothing more.
Great
Very noisy
Great option for downtown Halifax
Great location. Good service.
Restaurant in the hotel is very convenient
Central, convenient, great value
In the middle of a major construction zone in the fall of 2024
No water, toothbrush was provided. Parking charge is $30 which was kept hidden at the time of booking. A lot of disturbance in room during night and with morning some construction work started, didn’t a get 10 mins of good sleep. Overall it wasn’t worth it.
Rooms are not good according to the prices.
Great location
This hotel was very safe and comfortable
Great value, great location.
What can I say for a $125/night including taxes (winter rate I'm sure) right downtown. It was excellent. I woke up the first morning to some renovations but once I mentioned it we were immediately offered a new and slightly better room. We had the breakfast at their restaurant and I was surprised at how good it was. The breakfast club and breakfast (sausage) burger were done very well, and very tasty, as were the hash browns. The cappuccino was delish, too. Lastly, the front desk customer service was top notch. PS. It's worth noting that their beds and pillows are very comfortable, always a big plus.
Most Great, Barring Drazy Guests
Over all, a convenient location with plenty of ease.... being connected to the mall/food court was very convenient in winter, to avoid the snow. But the area is a bit iffy... Homeless in the area, and a lady had a very crazy/offensive meltdown at one point... She was taken and charged by police. I was offered a reimbursement and then told because I booked on expedia, that they can't refund anything... But yeah, if you don't have issue with chaotic guests, over all, its a great experience if the location is where you need. Very reasonable prices, considering how nice it is.
It was located downtown close to alot of amenities.
Didn’t have hot water
Very pleased, will stay again
Close to everything. Clean and comfortable
Free room upgrade with this VIP hotel 😀
I Love staying at this property its nice very clean l would have given them all 5 stars but the hotel is under some Renovation. But this is my First choice when staying in halifax the staff are friendly and I really appreciate that because we are already under some stress because we are going to the hospital with are child and it just feels like a home away from home
Really nice
Needs updates Parking was easy
Thank you.
Good value and good location downtown and close to restaurants and bars. Avoid the hotel restaurant. After a long day out and about we decided to stay at the hotel and try out the lobby bar/restaurant. I ordered the one pound of chicken wings and regretted the decision as soon as they showed up at the table. The wings were cooked well beyond done leaving them dry, tough, and unappealing. One taste of these wings left you with a burnt overcooked chicken taste that couldn’t be washed away. Other food ordered included nachos which were average at best, cold, and absent of adequate toppings. A chicken parm was ordered as well. This was lukewarm and lacked flavour. With so many dining options nearby it was unfortunate that we decided on this option. Lesson learned for next time. On the plus side, the staff working at this hotel are friendly, accommodating, and welcoming and are truly the strength of this hotel.
Central location, convenient for down town activities. Parking good but costly.
Amazing value.

Check in was smooth and quick, the gentleman checking me in was very friendly and helpful. I only stayed one night but it was fantastic. I have stayed here multiple times and have never been disappointed.
Did not like have to pay for parking
The staff was amazing - before and after I learned that my father passed away unexpectedly during the night, in Montreal. They were empathetic helpful and oh so kind. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It was close to everything.
Ficamos apenas um diária no hotel, mas os atendentes foram super atenciosos. Não temos o que reclamar
Friendly staff as always
Hotel is great, room was clean and nice to have it attached to Scotia Square and Halifax area peats.
Excellent value in the centre of Downtown Halifax.
We enjoy this hotel. Great location.
The hotel has been under renovations for what seems like a long time. The elevators are slow and some are shut down. The restaurant hours are very limited, with breakfast not being until 8am. This does not work for anyone staying overnight for work. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The front desk staff and the lone waitress in the restaurant were both amazing and very friendly. Ok for an overnight, but will stay someone else in the future.
Loved this hotel for as long as I can remember. I was looking forward to staying in a room with a balcony but I understand that there is renovations taking place currently. Still a great place to stay.
The room was cold no matter how high the heat was, could of been the area I was in possibly
Walkable, shopping,dining options
Very comfortable stay
Great staff great facilities and services. Satisfied.
Great room. Good location for dining and exploring Halifax.
Staff very kind
Everything was below my expectations
I really liked the price I paid
Nice, clean hotel. Older facility but well maintained. Great price for a downtown hotel.
We often stay at this hotel as we really like the location. You can walk to restaurants and all the shops downtown. We also take advantage of the free parking as a silver member. Staff is very friendly, easy check in.
Dated rooms and decor, but good value. Fantastic location.
The welcoming is always great! Only one negative experience this time: we were in room 226 and on level over us, they partied late and the noise was loud…
Overall; bad experience
Did not get told about paid parking nor did I get told about having to pay a 150$ deposit even if I paid the room via debit card.. had my step daughter with me and my husband when we checked in, didn’t stay long.. when we came back to the hotel with fellow friends who were staying at the same hotel, we found a toenail on the coffee table, called front desk and all they did was send housekeeping to clean the table… overall, not impressed and will most likely not return to that hotel
From 11:30 to 2:30 the corridor outside our room was an of and on yelling match with people arguing. Where was security? Very dissappointed. We usually have a good stay there.
Very accommodating, great stay
Great place to stay, great service, downtown location. Just no lunch and afternoon food services.
We had such a pleasant stay at Hotel Halifax and we'll happily return. My only slight criticism is that my husband attempted to turn off the motion smoothing function from the TV but was unsuccessful. If this can be somehow possible in the future, that would be greatly appreciated!
we found the parking there sketchy once. don't leave anything in your car.
Excellent Value
Regularly stay here, excellent value.
Dated but well priced
We like to take our two kitties with us when we travel, and it's a pet-friendly hotel. The bar staff is wonderful and friendly
All good!
Location and friendly staff.
It was in walking distance for eating and shopping, casino
Great place to stay
Really convenient location especially for those arriving by bus to and from airport bc the 320 bus to the airport stops close by. Very nice staff. Room was spacious and comfortable.
Terribly outdated. Dingy looking/feeling and some things broken. In desperate need of repairs and upgrades. We regretted choosing this hotel as soon as we walked in our room. Restaurant had good food but atmosphere lacking. Would not recommend at all. Parking also $30 a day and complicated.
The pool is cold
Great location
I love Halifax Hotel. With my silver hotel.com level, I get free self parking. Close to the waterfront. My only concern is a $35 pet fee. My pet is never left alone and makes no mess. I would like the fee to be reimbursed if the room is clean after my pet leaves.
Was a large room for the price
Not the properties problem It is the city problem. Construction
Property needs a good updating and the walls aren't very sound proof however the staff was very friendly and proffessional and the location in downtown Halifax is excellent.
Great service! Prefer to have a patio but hotel was full
We frequently use this hotel when staying in Halifax. Great location and staff very friendly and helpful for any needs.
Not family friendly, room was in awful condition and unsafe. Blood left on bathroom counter.. staff were friendly however not trained well to handle a bad situation while booked at fapacity
Very friendly staff
This is our go to spot in Halifax, its close to all amenities and connected to the pedway system. Parking is easily accessible from scotia square. If you have an EV level 4 has 6 level 2 chargers. the hotel is currently undergoing renovations to improve the look and feel but not currently intrusive. The beds are comfortable but pillows were a bit on the soft side, if you're picky about pillows bring your own. one thing that I would like improved is more access to outlets on both sides of the bed. we both use a cpap machine and would be nice not to have to string an extension cord across the back of the bed. I always travel with one anyways but would be an easy addon.
Great location and clean!
I liked how the air conditioner was directly in the room so it could cool it down quickly.

Here's the revised review with the added details: Roombooked - King-sized Bed Premium with Harbour View The hotel itself has decent infrastructure and a fantastic location in the heart of downtown, which is a definite plus. However, my stay was somewhat marred by a few minor disappointments. Firstly, the parking charges were a bit of a letdown, even though I was aware of them beforehand. When staying at a hotel, I expect some level of convenience, and having to pay for parking feels counterintuitive. While this seems to be a common practice across Canada, it still detracts from the overall experience. Secondly, the lack of complimentary breakfast was surprising, especially considering the price I paid. In my travels to other countries, breakfast is often included, and I was disappointed by its absence here. Additionally, daily housekeeping and room service, including bed-making and room cleaning, were not provided, which I found inconvenient. Minor issues like the lack of disposable slippers and the need to request both toilet paper and drinking water further impacted my stay. While these may seem like small things, they contribute to the overall guest experience. Furthermore, the room itself felt somewhat dated and average. The table lamp also malfunctioned, which was a minor inconvenience. Overall, my stay at Halifax was average.
