I love this hotel. Always stay here when I’m in town. Wonderful staff and service. Restaurant is great. Really lovely hotel in a quiet and pleasant neighborhood.

We complained numerous times that our room was too cold…we had to wear jackets in our room! Staff promised to address this issue and never did. We also requested housekeeping to clean our room and it only happened one of the days we were staying there. I would not recommend this hotel.

Really dirty hotel

Incredibly dirty room, unbeleivable. Hotel manager agreed when they saw the room but had no extra rooms to switch us to and said they would issue a refund but since it through hotels.com they need to check with you.

Room was so dirty also there was fire from plug socket, it was very scary, we booked till Nov. 17th but we checked out on 15th because property was not safe to stay.

Very pretty but hotel needs work

This is the most beautiful hotel that I have ever seen. The rooms are excellent. I will definitely stay there again in the future.

What a wonderful hotel. I was upgraded to a very luxurious master suite and the swankiest bathtub I’ve ever seen. This is my second time here and I travel frequently for work and will certainly continue to stay at Hotel Demetria. Ate at the restaurant again and the staff remembered me even though it had been 3 months. Excellent meal. Excellent service. Great drink options. Really a lovely place to stay.

Highly recommended hotel

Went here for a wedding with some friends and family. Very comfortable hotel. Staff was excellent. Room was clean and maintained by daily housekeeping. Bar and restaurant were very good. Highly recommended.

Great staff and cleaned.

Everything was pretty amazing in this gallery/hotel. The chef of the restaurant was excellent. Every dish we ordered was delicious and beautiful. You have to be vigilant about the pricing of drinks though. A few times we were charged much more than it said on the English menu. They didn’t charge more for room service which was a benefit. Luckily we could ask for hot water for tea and they would bring it up to the room. We brought our own tea bags. I don’t think tea is a thing in these parts of Mexico.

We really loved this hotel. When you go through the pictures and you arrive, there's usually many differences. I was very pleased to see that it stayed true to what they advertised. Reading other people's experience, I didn't know what to expect. The staff was amazing! The most helpful I ever experienced. I have family in the area and when I told them where I was staying, they said it was 1 of the best hotels in the area and it really felt that way. The food was also great. I can't stress enough how amazing this place is. I hope all that stay can have the same experience we did.

What a wonderful location and beautiful hotel. Really nice stay at the Demetria. The staff was incredible. Really helpful and polite. Helped me order a car for the airport in the morning at a very reasonable price and really nice driver. Also the restaurant was delicious. Had a really excellent tuna tartare.

The hotel was amazing. Great customer service from the staff and friendly. Our room was perfect and well maintained.

This was a great stay. The location is fantastic for walking to dining and shopping and the service was super, especially in the restaurant and bar. The food is always prepared fresh, recipes are originally presented yet classic and served promptly. My only complaint is there is no coffee available in the morning anywhere before the restaurant opens, but there’s a 7-11 across the street that’s easy enough. Great stay thanks!

Great hotel and wonderful staff

Room lighting very poor. Shower is floor slippery and dangerous. Wash basin is too deep for smaller persons. Room is not cozy.

Very nice hotel. Clean…good for a night stay. I prefer neighborhoods that have more vibe. Check in was not fun, which put me in a frustrated mood. After 2 inactive door keys when checking in, asked for a different room as I wasn’t in the mood to lug my luggage for a 3rd time up and down elevator to front desk…they wouldn’t do it…however, a maintenance person was on it once I went up a 3rd trip with my luggage …next time, change the room for the guest and fix the door on your own time.

Even though we booked 1 queen bed they gave us a 2 bed room. They said they do not respect any bed requests from Expedia even if the reservation specifies a type of room. And on top of that they gave my parents who are elders, a room with no elevator access. They had to go through stairs.

Solicitamos en varias ocasiones nos dieran shampoo y en todo el viaje no lo hicieron. El personal de recepción es lo MÁS MAL EDUCADO que me ha tocado — gente no mexica sin sentido de la amabilidad. Pedimos el sábado agua tibia para beber un medicamento tardaron más de una hora en subirla y repetidas llamadas mías al restaurante hasta que grité me exasperé. El viernes después de un día cansado de trabajo no había limpiado la habitación sino hasta que se pidió lo cual implicó tenernos que salir para que limpiaran. El colmo al volver las sábanas fundas de almohada y edredón estaba húmedos!!! Su justificación— se le pone suavizante de telas — jamás había visto esto en mi vida en ningún hotel — tuvieron que subir a cambiar las sábanas completas — otra media hora más esperando la habitación. Ofrecen papaya en el desayuno; se pide y oh sorpresa no había!! Fue un fin de semana asqueroso estar en ese hotel. Mañana iré a la FROFECO a exponer todos esto! En verdad no se queden ahí — no tienen trato al huésped solo malos ratos.

Excelente servicio, muy amables todo el staff. Angel ha sido muy amable. Las amenidades muy buenas, cama muy cómoda, habitación amplia, wifi rápido, instalaciones muy buenas. Recomiendo este hotel.

Style without Function or Amenities

Great Architecture, Poor Design. Huge room with tiny basin area with a faucet that sprayed on you and floor when turned on. Hot tub sized bathtub with house shoes but no robes. No amenities- no heat, no hair dryer, no blankets, no shower gel, no turn down service, no maps of city, rarely a concierge and front desk had zero information about coffee shops or restaurants. 15 minutes to find a blanket and get to us. Hair dryer had to be signed for to have in room.

I found the hotel in 2022 walking by and was interested in staying. I was happy to get a reservation the area is called Colonia Americana Guadalajara. I like the neighborhood.So the hotel is very interesting looking. The staff is very friendly and helpful .The restaurant I think serves very good food . It also has a mini gym and a sun area with pool .I was happy to stay there . I hope to be back there this December 2024

This hotel is gorgeous, spotlessly clean, and the staff are wonderful. Will definitely stay here again.

Great staff and service

Beautiful and unique boutique style. Very contemporary, quite at night and fantastic staff. A coffee maker in room would have been nice and I'm not crazy about the lack of privacy in the bathroom but it was a very nice place and I would stay again ! Great staff!

It’s a very chic, artsy hotel but dated. My room was awkwardly designed having to step and down to get out of bed or use the bathroom. Lighting was very low in crucial places like the vanity and mirror. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They were the best part of the trip. Also this was a VIP hotel and got nothing for Expedia gold.

Beautiful hotel, clean and excellent service. Walking distance to bars and restaurants on Chapultepec Ave. will definitely be back.

This is one of my favorite hotels in GDL, maybe the world. I love this spot. Felt there was a disconnect between the hotel and Expedia, as the "VIP" Amenities were not included. When I asked for an late check out time, I was also not granted that. Clearly there needs to be better communication between the hotel and Expedia. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

I didn’t like I reserved a room for 3 people and 2 beds they charge me more when checking in they only allow 2 person in the room

Me quede 5 días. Mis AirPods estaban en mi habitación y no se si alguna de las camareras los robaron. No me gusta acusar a nadie sin pruebas. Los había dejado en la cama y puede ser que una de las camareras agarró las cobijas y se envolvieron en las cobijas. Me dijeron que trataron de buscarlos pero no encontraron nada. Eran caro los AirPods. Tienen que tener cuidado. La aplicación de find my iPhone enseña que están ahí en el hotel.

Stunningly beautiful hotel with tons of amenities

The Demetria is a gorgeous hotel. Our room was enormous. They thought of everything to provide a comfortable stay (robes, slippers, reading material). The freestanding tub is a showstopper.

Short in staff

It was a nice property and everything but just wasn’t as good as it is rated out to be or as good as the pictures make it look

This hotel needs updating. The lighting is terrible in the rooms. I had to sit on the floor in front of a window to put on my makeup. The robes provided have holes and are torn. The shower tiles are broken. The bathtub plumbing leaks and the carpets are dirty. The stairs are only for emergencies and are a disaster. They have supplies and trash stored on the landings of each floor and do not have handrails. I'm glad we did not have to get out quickly. Angel, the bellman is Wonderful! He was the best part of the stay. He was so welcoming and accommodating. The food and drinks are very good as well. The bar / restaurant staff was also very helpful. While at the airport waiting for my flight, I spoke to another traveler who stayed here and unsolicited, he said "this is an older hotel that sorely needs updating". Guess I am not the only one who feels this way.

The rooms are big. However, they were a bit dusty when we entered the room. The lobby has an "art installment" of old rattan chairs. In reality, it looks like a bunch of chairs that left there for someone to throw out. If you are going for the roof top pool, don't. It is not resort like and does not look like what is in the pictures. The two times I went to the roof, there were no towels. The day beds were not prepared for customers to use them with nice clean towels. In fact there were no towels on them at all. But wait, there were no towels anyway so I could not put any on if I wanted to.

Hermoso hotel, el staff muy atento.

Great location. The overall hotel experience was impersonal, not very welcoming. We also had an issue with housecleaning: we left wet towels on the floor to be exchanged after 3 days of use and they were just hung back up wet. Also had someone try to enter the room at 17:30 even though we had the “dormiendo”/do not disturb sign on the door. The man at the front desk did not know who was trying to come in. Overall it is a nice hotel in a great location but I would not stay there again.

Perhaps one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in (and that’s a lot) location is good, service is excellent, room was extraordinary. Bed was very comfortable. Great value for money. If I can offer just 1 piece of advice it would be to improve the restaurant. Not the appearance it’s beautiful, but the offerings. That is the only thing that needs work, the rest was simply excellent.

Love the hotel vibes and staffs are super friendly

The staff were wonderful! Beautiful, modern design hotel. Only issue I had was I couldn’t get the TV to work, even with a new remote control. Restaurant on site was very good and the staff at the bar were outstanding.

Upon our arrival the hotel front desk was very cold and indifferent. We arrived from another hotel and had hoped for the possibility of an early check in and where told that we needed to wait the 3 hrs in the lobby with all our bags. Our daughter got locked in the lobby washroom and it had a heater running as the door lock that was broken, so she nearly passed out. The pool area is run down as well as gym area with poor functioning toilets and doors with no lighting. When the rain storms came, our room patio door seal was damaged and water pooled into the bathroom which had an electrical outlet on the floor. We had to hurry to control water flow to that outlet as well as water that came from the ceiling. We told the manager and he didn't come to check at all. Instead one night we had one of the concierge (short man with a black suit) not even knock on our door and key himself in at 9:30 pm to quickly dash saying sorry with no real explanation for the disruption. The entire hotel staff seem rather disgruntled especially the very rude front desk lady who didn't even contact us before cancelling our room keys as she awaited for us to pay an additional room fee for having our kids in a room with 2 double beds. Having stayed in 6 different hotels during our summer long visit to Guadalajara, I would have to say this was the most unpleasant one. Most of the time we left the hotel to spend our days elsewhere. We will never return.

Friendly, attentive staff. Clean property. Close to Chapultepec without the noise and traffic. Also in the area were nice boutique restaurants, more hip than the loud Chapultepec scene. You can have your choice.

This was my first time staying at this property and it will not be my last. I loved everything about it especially the staff and service, no request was too small or too large and everyone was friendly. I'm going back this weekend I liked it so much.

Hotel Demetria was gorgeous yet quiet! Glass walls everywhere, including a glass elevator. Our room was beautiful with the largest tub I've ever seen! Staff were friendly and prompt. They gave great dining recommendations which are about 10 minutes away when walking.

It was ok. Nothing to impressive at this hotel. Location was great. Room was very hot even with AC on. Floor was very dirty but the slippers helped.

Great staff but uncomfortable room

The room was uncomfortable, poorly layout and the temperature in the room will not go lower than 24c (75f) and most of the time was at 27c (80f). After numerous attempts to fix the issue we had to book a second hotel for the last two nights over a seven-day stay.

We complaint about an extremely bad odor in our room several times and nothing was done about it. Made a reservation through expedia for this stay and paid in full once I got Tto Demetria they charge me $300 dollars extra.

Location

It is looking a bit old. Staff is all strangely angry or annoyed. Room “upgrade” was dark with no windows, just a weird frosted glass shower. There was a constant humming sound that wouldn’t let me sleep.

The hotel is amazing, has art/statues everywhere and the room are perfect. Also is great if you need to go CAS

Great place to stay for English speaking travelers

Hotel is beautiful and in a great area to walk to amazing restaurants and cafe . Very safe area. The food at the hotel and the staff is awesome. Pricing for food at the hotel is great and the quality of the food is amazing. The rooms are beautiful. Highly recommend this to any English speaking travelers where your Spanish is not that great and want a beautiful place to stay and see the city from here . Also it’s a great walk to the historic district. And the sheer number of cafes and stores close by is fantastic!

One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the pool. We were told the pool was heated at check-in only to go up to the pool and the water temperature was cold. Service was average. Expected much more and was disappointed.

Not good for children. They made us feel uncomfortable for having a child and tried to charge us for incidentals. We weren’t even in the room that long as we were out most of the time.

Wonderful hotel

The Demetria is one of my favorite hotels. It’s located in the Americana neighborhood with surrounded by great restaurants and cafes. We have stayed here several times since 2014. The rooms are modern, beautiful, clean and the staff is five stars.

The hotel's design and comfort exceeded our expectations :)

The three-room reservation was canceled weeks before stay but Expedia only canceled one of the three rooms. The hotel charged me for the two additional rooms that Expedia didn't cancel. Hotel and Expedia refuse to reimburse charges. Unethical business practice by both parties.

Thermostat on the swimming pool was not working, it was really cold and were not able to use it. Also rooms did not include a coffee machine, it would be nice to have one in the room. Expensive drinks and amenities considering there are many small restaurants and coffee shops all around with very good food & drinks.

Classy and Wonderful in Guadalajara

Top hotel in the city, close to a variety of great restaurants and pubs. Great design through the building and the room was very roomy and clean. The room service was also very good - fast and the meals were delicious. Staff were friendly, but not very helpful with Covid curfew news or shops/businesses that would not be operating during the weekend. A simple, daily, fact sheet of navigating the city should be placed in each room. Wonderful hotel.
